What are the steps I need to take to get a teaching job in Qatar?
Decide if teaching in Qatar is the right thing to do. The best way to do this would be by following this link; https://qatarteach.com/subscribe. I would then get access to the Free Decision Making Guide and use it to help me make an informed decision.
If I am still thinking that I want to get a teaching job in Qatar then I would write up a short cover letter outlining a bit about myself and what experiences I have which would make me suitable for a teaching job in Qatar.
I would then apply. By following this link https://qatarteach.com/simple-cv I would start to fill in the application form. Making sure that I have my cover letter and a professional headshot image ready to upload.
Qatarteach.com will then work on your behalf in finding the most suitable role for you.

Official Pi Day Website - It is time for Pi! (This Thursday!)
Pi Day – Celebrate Mathematics on March 14th
Home Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to reci…

Qatar is a small country but it has a lot of food to offer. From meat and rice, to some of the best restaurants in the world.
I loved the food in Qatar! When I was teaching in Qatar most meals were eaten out. It wasn’t always about the top quality restaurants but also the little gems which sold food very cheap meaning that you salary earned teaching in Qatar can go much further.

Selfish
I have always held the view that pure mathematics is, in some meaningful sense, a bit selfish. It’s hard for me to believe that I am the only one who has felt this, and in case any of y’all have ever worried about this, I’d like to share a conversation I had just after I’d started grad school.
------
To give some context, by “selfish” I mean this: I am essentially forced to be a technical egghead because comparative advantage is a thing. But it is not clear to me that I could not be an engineer or an “applied” mathematician, and solve problems that would improve many people’s quality of life (or, in extreme cases, access to life). Instead, I have chosen— no, am actively choosing, day in and day out— to be “pure”. My discoveries may come to use a long time from now but even then the quality of life will have improved so much that the real perceived gains would be slight.
For what noble cause do I make this choice? Well, mostly because I am bored by practical matters, and I am very much a hedonistic mathematician. The honeymoon stage has long since worn off, but the essential I’m-doing-this-for-my-amusement-ness is still there. (Or perhaps it’s just a desparate race against complacancy?). It’s naïve and simplistic (not to mention false) to say that “pure math is prettier” as a blanket statement. But, on the whole, I enjoy it more.
And, sure, there is still a comparative advantage thing going on here, but it seems to be a lot less significant. I am yet to be convinced that I wouldn’t have a much greater net positive impact on society than if I were, say, working on TSP algorithms.
(This is an issue which doesn’t seem totally related to using my privilege. I’m not doing well on that front either, but this isn’t really about privilege, it’s about technical expertise. I understand that it was a lot easier for me to get that expertise because of the privilege, but afaict that’s an orthogonal issue: regardless of how I got it, the issue is now what I will do with it.)
------
At one of those awkward “grad student meet-ups”, I was talking to someone studying medicine. They learned that I was doing research mathematics. Without prompting, they said they admired my patience and dedication, to have chosen the “better path” (research).
They said that their choice was selfish, because the power of a researcher to save and improve lives is so much greater than that of a doctor. A doctor deals with “crisis management” and can only handle a relatively small number of patients over a relatively limited period of their life. But they made their choice because, despite knowing that their could be doing more for the world in research, they wanted to actually see the results of their work. They needed the regular positive feedback. They just didn’t have the patience to wait to figure out how to apply their work, if indeed the work they produced would ever be successfully applied during their lifetime.
I can’t agree, obviously, since patience and dedication are exactly what is not driving me down this road. It also doesn’t really counters my inital objection anyway, since of course you can be a researcher, even a math researcher and still not be so damn theoretical about it all. But their’s was a different perspective that I hadn’t thought about before, and on some days it’s the small comfort that keeps me going.
