Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985)
Tumblr media
There’s one genre of horror that feels particularly daunting to explore: the “cannibal horror” genre. Its best-known entry, 1980's Cannibal Holocaust is notorious for its real-life footage of animal killings and anyone whose interest is peaked hearing this probably needs psychological help. Then there’s the inherent racism of these stories: the plots almost always concern a group of urban people who encounter savage aboriginals that want nothing more than to butcher, cook and then eat white meat. You're curious why the genre was so prolific but you don’t want to be offended so you pick the most ridiculous-sounding entry of them all: Massacre in Dinosaur Valley. The idea is that when your hapless explorers are getting torn apart by prehistoric reptiles, it will be easy to forget about what’s socially acceptable and just laugh between the “yuck!” scenes.
Deep in the Amazon jungle live the reclusive Aquera Indians: a tribe of cannibals who have little contact with the outside world. Their territory contains the “Dinosaur Valley”, a bone-bed rich with fossils and hidden dangers. Palaeontologist Kevin Hall (Michael Spokiw), Professor Pedro Ibañez (Leonidas Bayer), his daughter Eva (Suzanne Carvalho), fashion models Belinda (Susan Hahn) and Monica (Maria Reis), Vietnam vet John Heinz (Milton Morris) and his wife Betty (Marta Anderson) are flying over the off-limits area when their plane suddenly crashes. The survivors must find a way back to civilization before they become victims of the jungle surrounding them.
Originally shot in Italian, then dubbed in English, no one - on camera or otherwise - gives a good performance. That only matters so much because you’re not here for high art. What you’re here for is the sleaze. You want nudity? Massacre in Dinosaur Valley has it in droves. We get to see the supermodels changing, Eva showering, a gratuitous sex scene that comes out of nowhere, a sadistic lesbian that can’t wait to tear Belinda’s top off and when the ladies get captured by the Aquera Indians (that’s what the movie calls them so I will too), the cannibals promptly rip off their clothes and give them new outfits that barely cover anything. The objective was to find as many ways to show the actresses barring it all - logic or tact be damned. When Eva is shown in the nude (there’s quite a bit of full-frontal nudity), she’s showering with the doors to the bathroom and hotel room wide open so anyone can walk in. When Kevin wanders inside looking for her father, he gets a nice view. He gives her a towel, but she only realizes a stranger provided the helping hand after about 30 seconds. My question is… who did she THINK was helping her dry off? Her father? Gross.
Speaking of gross, how’s the gore? Disappointing, unfortunately. With a title like Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, you expect to see the idiots who stumble into that green inferno getting dismembered, decapitated, flayed alive and otherwise brutalized before getting eaten - either by dinosaurs or racist caricatures. Someone does get eaten but it’s nothing spectacular and isn’t treated as such either, which is a letdown. By my count, there are two massacres in this movie. Too bad it’s not the people you expect that get reduced to deli meat. Most of our ill-fated adventurers bite the dust because of non-cannibal dangers, which you might not think is a big deal. It’s not called Massacre in Cannibal Valley, am I right? Just wait.
The film could essentially be split into three parts, only one of which has anything to do with that titular valley. Part one is a story filled with quicksand, flesh-eating jungle beasts and other clichés. Part two concerns the cannibals. Part three, the white slavers! Between these three hurried plots, fans of bad movies will have some laughs. There’s plenty of questionable behavior spread throughout, the gratuitous nudity is so outlandish it’s hard not to crack a smile, the body count is so extreme it's hilarious, there are plenty of ideas introduced and then dropped and at points, it’s hard to tell if the movie is implying certain things or if the filmmaking and continuity are just THAT BAD. A lot of stuff just happens because writer/director Michele Massimo Tarantini wanted it to happen. Logic had nothing to do with it.
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley is better shot than you'd think, the plot moves along quickly enough to prevent you from getting bored and it manages to be so incompetent you skip the phase where you’d be offended and go directly to rolling your eyes while chuckling at the pathetic attempts at storytelling. All this SHOULD make for a decent “so bad it’s good” cannibal film… if it weren’t for one glaring flaw. There are no dinosaurs in this movie. None! What a ripoff! (November 5, 2021)

21+. She/Her. EST.
We're not that far away from October so the horror bug has begun to bite me. I'm looking for some horror fandom roleplays. 🎃
Please be 21+!
I write on Discord (through DMs or servers). I like to stick to Tumblr for plotting, however. I write in third person, past tense and around 2-4 paragraphs. Sometimes more. Never less. Daily replies won't happen because I work full-time during the week. I try my hardest to get them out within 2-3 days. Sometimes it may take me a little bit longer.
Canon x canon (MxM, FxF, or MxF) are preferred but I'm willing to do canon x OC too (only MxM or FxF). I like canon and canon divergent plots the most. By virtue of these fandoms, NSFW topics will likely be a part of this. As for smut, I do lean towards romantic ships and don't mind writing it but it isn't a requirement.
I'll just be listing the muses I'm most interested in writing. I'm open to discussing ships.
American Horror Story: Hotel - John Lowe, Will Drake
American Psycho - Patrick Bateman
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon - Leslie Vernon
Evil Dead Franchise - Ash Williams
The Exorcist (FOX TV Show) - Marcus Keane, Tomas Ortega
Halloween Franchise - Corey Cunningham, Michael Myers, Vicky
Hostel - Josh Brooks, Paxton Rodriguez
The Lost Boys - David
Saw Franchise - Mark Hoffman, William Schenk
Scream Franchise - Billy Loomis, Dewey Riley, Jill Roberts, Mickey Altieri, Richie Kirsch, Roman Bridger
The Walking Dead - Beth Greene, Gabriel Stokes, Gareth, Merle Dixon, Milton Mamet, Paul Rovia, Shane Walsh

Carmen Rodriguez, 31 (USA 1970)
New York legalized abortion before Roe v. Wade, killing many women and young girls along with their unborn babies. One of these pre-Roe v. Wade legal fatalities was Carmen Rodriguez.
Tumblr media
31-year-old Carmen Rodriguez underwent a 14-week legal abortion in New York. Lincoln Hospital used the saline method, which chemically burns an unborn human alive by filling the amniotic sac with a dangerous high-concentration salt solution. Then labor would be induced to remove the corpse from Carmen’s uterus.
Carmen had a medical history of rheumatic heart disease, but she had given birth twice before and been fine. There was no evidence that a third birth would have had a different result. Saline abortion, on the other hand, had long been documented as potentially causing heart-damaging electrolyte imbalances—even in a perfectly healthy person. It was reckless and negligent to attempt a saline abortion on a person with a chronic heart condition.
Like so many before and after her, Carmen was killed by her legal abortion. The saline entered her bloodstream and caused acute pulmonary edema. During the abortion, Carmen was observed as having trouble breathing. It was later discovered that Carmen’s heart condition was not noted on her chart and that somebody had assumed her respiratory problems were from an asthma attack. (Carmen did not even have asthma and a simple glance at her medical history would have shown that.) The treatment administered was appropriate for an asthmatic patient but could be lethal to a patient with a heart condition. This made the already-dying Carmen even worse.
Carmen slipped into a coma and soon died on July 19, 1970. Her husband and two surviving children were left to mourn the loss of two family members.
Tumblr media
After Carmen was killed, a Puerto Rican activist group called the Young Lords sprang into action. They spread Carmen’s story far and wide, pointing out that the staff of Lincoln Hospital were warned that Carmen had heart problems and failed to take proper precautions.
The Young Lords distributed leaflets near Lincoln Hospital, denouncing Carmen’s death as murder. The group also occupied an administration building connected with the hospital for 12 hours, denouncing the hospital as “a butcher shop that kills patients”.
The Young Lords weren’t the only ones alarmed over the amount of women killed by legalized abortion. New York City Chief Medical Examiner Milton Helpern expressed fears that ill-equipped and poorly-staffed freestanding legal abortion facilities were posing a danger to women. (Of course, abortion was still unsafe when done in a hospital, but facilities specifically existing for abortion were even worse.)
But supporters of abortion didn’t seem to care about the preventable deaths of women and girls. Merle Goldman, who was the spokesperson for a pro-abortion organization, still insisted that abortion was safe and stressed that the group was publicly lobbying against proposed health department regulation of abortion practice.
Carmen was not the first mother or the last to be killed by legalized abortion in New York. Others included but were not limited to Pearl Schwier, Barbara Riley, Maria Ortega, Margaret Smith, Carole Schaner, Pamala Modugno, Lisa Marie Hoefener and at least 19 “Jane Roes” (unidentified women and girls) who had fallen for the “safe and legal” abortion lie between New York’s early legalization of abortion and Roe v. Wade.
Abortion supporters tend to bring up the maternal deaths from abortion before Roe v. Wade. They typically don’t know or don’t want to admit how many of these deaths were from fully legal abortion.

A Maryland man and MS-13 gang member committed a triple homicide to get promoted.
Now, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Last month, U.S. District Court Chief Judge James K. Bredar sentenced Juan Carlos Sandoval-Rodriguez, aka”El Pastor,” aka “Gasper,” aka “Picaro,” 24, to life without the possibility of parole in federal prison for the brutal murders in the Anne Arundel County, Maryland, area.
After a three-month trial and another 9-day trial, Sandoval-Rodriguez was convicted of triple murders in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering.
According to prosecutors, Sandoval-Rodriguez belonged to the gang’s Annapolis clique “Fulton Locos Salvatruchas.” In a bid to gain seniority status within the gang, the defendant brutally murdered members of rival gangs, prosecutors said.
On March 11, 2016, Sandoval-Rodriguez lured an unsuspecting gang member to Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. While his associates secured the park’s perimeters to avoid detection by law enforcement or eyewitnesses, the victim was struck on the head with a stick and fatally stabbed repeatedly. Authorities found his body over a year later in a shallow grave.
Sandoval-Rodriguez claimed the life of a second victim on March 31, 2017. The defendant lured the 17-year-old rival gang member, Irvin Orellana, to Wheaton Regional Park. Then, Sandoval-Rodriguez and co-defendants Milton Portillo-Rodriguez, aka “Little Gangster,” aka “Seco,” 26, Oscar Armando Sorto-Romero, aka “Lobo,” 23, and Jose Joya-Parada, aka “Calmado,” 21, stabbed the victim more than 100 times.
Next, they dismembered him, cut out his heart, and buried the victim in a hidden grave.
On June 24, 2017, a 21-year-old Jenni Lopez-Rivera, 21, was lured by another female member of Sandoval-Rodriguez’s crew to a wooded area in Crownsville, Maryland, where she was fatally stabbed repeatedly, decapitated and dismembered. Before the slaying, Sandoval-Rodriguez had gone to the area and dug a grave in preparedness for the homicide. Portillo-Rodriguez was instrumental in planning the victim’s murder.
“The victim screamed as she was being driven around the Annapolis area before eventually arriving in the wooded area in Crownsville,” prosecutors said, according to Capital Gazette.
After the slaying, Sandoval-Rodriguez and his co-defendants were promoted.
In April, Portillo-Rodriguez, and Sorto-Romero were both sentenced to life in federal prison for the multiple murders, racketeering, and conspiracy to commit racketeering. In addition, Joya-Parada was also sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for similar charges.

30+ / She/Her. Looking for 18+ (preferably 21+) writing partners.
I'm only looking for fandom stuff at the moment. I'm mainly looking for canon x canon pairings but will consider canon x oc ones. I usually don't double because I don't want to overwhelm myself too much but, if doubling is your thing, we can discuss it. I prefer canon or canon divergent plots. No AUs that are way out there. MxM ships are my preference but I'm open to MxF and FxF too.
I'll be listing the characters I'm most interested in writing from each fandom, but I can write plenty of others. I'm pretty easy-going when it comes to ships so feel free to suggest any to me. I will list a few of my favorites, though, with the character I prefer writing in bold (if I have a preference). Smut is welcome but not necessary. I have no triggers but please share any you may have with me. Sometimes I forget to ask about them because I don't have any to worry about.

Carmen Rodriguez, 31 (USA 1970)
Tumblr media
New York legalized abortion before Roe v. Wade, killing many pregnant people along with their babies. When the legalization first came into effect, a city hospital official spokesperson didn’t seem concerned about the increased danger to pregnant people and said, “We can tolerate three deaths per 100,000 patients.” This calculation wildly underestimated how lethal legal abortion is. In the first 22 days alone, 3 out of about 2000 women died from legal abortion, making it 50 times more lethal than the hospital spokesperson suggested. One of the many killed was Carmen Rodriguez.
31-year-old Carmen Rodriguez was 14 weeks pregnant when she underwent a legal abortion in New York. Lincoln Hospital used the saline method, which chemically burns an unborn human alive by filling the amniotic sac with a dangerous high-concentration salt solution. Then labor would be induced to remove the corpse from Carmen’s uterus.
Carmen had a medical history of rheumatic heart disease, but she had given live birth twice before and been fine.
(Carmen did not have asthma and a look at her medical history would have made that obvious.) The treatment administered was appropriate for an asthmatic patient but lethal to a patient with a heart condition. This made the already-dying Carmen even worse.
Carmen slipped into a coma and soon died on July 19, 1970. Her husband and two surviving children were left to mourn for the loss of two family members.
After Carmen was killed, a Puerto Rican activist group called the Young Lords sprang into action. They spread Carmen’s story far and wide, pointing out that the staff of Lincoln Hospital were warned that Carmen had heart problems, failed to take precautions and administered “treatment” that was directly harmful to her.
But supporters of abortion didn’t seem to care about the preventable deaths of pregnant people. Merle Goldman, who was the spokesperson for a pro-abortion organization, still insisted that abortion was safe and stressed that the group was publicly lobbying against proposed health department regulation of abortion practice.
Carmen was not the first or the last to be killed by legalized abortion in New York. Others included but were not limited to Pearl Schwier, Barbara Riley, Maria Ortega, Margaret Smith, Carole Schaner and at least 26 “Jane Roes” (unidentified victims) who had fallen for the “safe and legal” abortion lie between New York’s early legalization of abortion and Roe v. Wade.
Abortion supporters tend to bring up the maternal deaths from abortion before Roe v. Wade. They typically don’t know or don’t want to admit how many of these deaths were from fully legal abortion.
