BlazBlue did it beautifully with Yuuki Terumi a Ghost that was kept in existence by the wannabe god computer trio takamagahara and so forced to do their bidding. Also the mad mobk in magatsu barai where in the route you kill him without getting the western excorsist that he forced to eat his own lover to let go of his hate he reincarnates chest burster style using it as a catalyst

She was right...

Three weeks. Only three weeks since she came to the Vale in Pandaria, yet to Sharyssa it felt like years. She arrived full of confidence, barely aware of the true extent of the danger. If not for her new aquaintnce opening her eye to the truth, she would have died already.

The days when the mantid swarm tried to take over felt the easiest, Shar could blast them out of the sky , working in tandem with other mages while the melee fighters took care of the targets on land. The company didn’t lose anyone, and her confidence grew... only to run into a ‘wall’ of stone dubbed mogu. Their war serpents were just as vicious as their titanforged riders, the combined might of her company barely enough to repel them, and not without sacrifices. A tauren druid was the first to return to the Earthmother, his bear form eventually giving out under the heavy blows of their foes while covering the party’s retreat, followed by a blood elf pyromancer receiving the lightning breath of a serpent headfirst. And things only went downhill from that point.

“To think I’d cry back the mogu invasion...” Sharyssa muttered, rubbing the sleep out of her eye. She didn’t sleep much, the nightmares waking her up gasping through the night. “Setting my wards did nothing, huh?” She stifled a yawn and stretched. It should have been early morning, but the sky was covered by the unnatural darkness. She looked at the row of different gems placed on the small table, picking an azure-colored one to be her right eye today. The original ruby lay in a separate box, dull of light. “Haaaaa... I wish I knew how to repair the enchantment in it after overdrawing its power. At least it didn’t break, unlike the substitues I’ve enchanted.”

She barely finished dressing when she heard the banging on the door. “Sharyssa, come quickly, Agnus and the others are getting overwhelmed!”

The young nightborne cursed, grabbing her pouch-belt and rushed out. “I’m here Tiandi, tell me details as we get there.”

The flying carpet Sharyssa and the pandaren mobk were using was a gift from her mother, sent after her via a courier. “This is insane, the two of us won’t make any difference!” She exclaimed, already horrified by the corrupted landscape. “I know, but noone else could be spared. We have to try!” Tiandi replied, directing the carpet to the location where the night guard was last reported.

Shar’s breath was caught by the sight that greeted them: the hulking minions of N’zoth were destroying the base with only a disheartheningly small batch of survivors trying to escape with their lives. “Tiandi, put me down, now! You stay here, I will get the survivors!” The pandaren wanted to argue, but a glare from the arcanist silenced him.

Agnus closed his eyes as the tentacle-limb of a giant faceless one was swiftly descending towards him, it was over. One second passed, then another, and he finally looked up to see his attacker struggling with the arcane shackles binding its flesh.

“Come on, Agnus, I can’t hold it off forever!” Sharyssa shouted at the other nightborne, beads of sweat rolling down her face, outstretched arms shaking from the strain of binding the beast. “Quickly!”

The two elves made a hasty retreat towards the carpet, Shar constantly summoning small arcane shields to cover the backs of the others in her vicinity. In the end, only Agnus and two others made it out alive. “Up on the carpet, Move it!” Tiandi growled, pulling up a troll while Agnus and Sharyssa helped up a blood elf. “Alright, let’s go!”

“Shar, something is wrong, we’re barely gaining altitude!” The pandaren called back, his expression switching from anxiety to sheer horror instantly. The arcanist twisted her head as well and gasped: a massive blast of destructive energy was heading straight towards them, it was impossible to dodge with this many passengers.

Gritting her teeth, Sharyssa pulled all the magic stored in the gem and after merging it with her own, channeled it to form a multi-layered mana-shield. The fifht layer was barely finished when the hostile magic hit. The young nightborne grunted in pain as blood seeped from her right eyesocket, the gem obviously cracked and cut into her flesh as she blacked out. The conjured shield barely contained the blast, but the shockwave was enormous.

“Sharyssaaaa!” Agnus’s pained cry woke the young arcanist only to find herself falling. With another grunt of pain, she finished casting, slowing down her descent. “Go, we will meet up at the Shrine!” She called to her friends,  as maneuvering the carpet to pick her up would just put the whole rescue mission into jeopardy. “Just go!” She cried for the last time, waving them on as she descended further and further. The anguished faces of Agnus and Tiandi remained clear in her memory even after they vanished from her sight.

“Alright... it will be a long walk after I land.” Sharyssa muttered to herself, too caught up in surveying the area of her landing to notice the new danger until the last second. “Wha-” The breath was forced from Shar’s body as the tentacle smashed into her.

Sharyssa hit the ground roughly, her vision a blur as her body kept rolling, out of the tentacle’s reach, only to be stopped by a bush. If not for the enchantments in her armor, her now-shattered necklace and the fact she almost reached the ground when hit, she would have been already dead.

“She... was right...” The concerned visage of the nice sin’dorei monk was the last image in Shar’s mind before darkness claimed her.
