I reread it, you know, for fun, as I picked it for this. The actual physical pain that runs through my whole body reading this fic!! It is just!!! I mean it is a certain kind of fun, for sure. I have read other fics where the fam find out about the mausoleum, but this is hands down the best.

Sometimes you have that realization that things are worse than you’d previously thought, and you have to wonder how it got that far. Or, six times the Hargreeves stumbled upon Klaus’ growing addiction, and one more.

This fic does NOT take it easy on you - it chronicles Klaus’ addiction, which starts quite young and is often pretty ugly. I think Allison’s chapter is my favorite, which is to say it hurts really bad to see her try to help and likely make some things worse. Well-written and realistic angst, coming at you!

Allison has returned to California for a few days, needing to get back to her life. She then got her hands on the many letters her siblings wrote her over the years and, having recently reunited with them, decided she'd finally read them.

She wished she'd read them sooner.

Allison and Klaus feelings!! Allllways love those. Deals with heavy, hard things, but finds a way to be healing and lovely for the whole family, too. (Luther and his poetry and flowers!!) I literally just read this one but I already like it so much!

Klaus would hold onto Dave’s dog tags; clutch them firmly within his palms and run his fingertips over the cool stainless steel memorabilia, cherishing the sensation of Dave’s name carved within the insignia against his skin. This was all that he had left of him; his only tether to Dave left in this world—his most treasured possession.

Or, Dave’s dog tags break, and so does Klaus.
