South Korea Travel Tips
There's a persistent idea that there lies an omnipresent energy that flows throughout the Korean mountains, providing the extremely existence source of Korean culture and spirituality all through its history - the trust was not with out basis. The South Korean geography is mostly mountainous, about seventy percent in the 100,032 sq. meter acreage is covered with mountain ranges. It really is no surprise that the pre-Buddhist Korean civilizations would revere the mountains. They derive spiritual strength from its animistic chi, ever flowing, and spawning exclusive Korean customs, traditions and festivals.
Accordingly, The UNESCO lists large amount of these mountainous terrains as Globe Pure Heritage Websites like the Jeju-do volcanic tropical isle, Seongsan Ilchulbong peak, and also the Mount Hallasan Natural Reserve. Normal scenic spots such as these form the core of any South Korean travel destinations but of course, that this technologically superior, yet culturally rich country has a lot more to provide for those intending to make a stop by.
Summer is invariably a good time to visit South Korea and the optimum time to hit the seashore this time of the year is from July to August where the temperature can get as tall as 30 degrees Centigrade or more. A few of the well-known beaches are the Sokcho beach in Ganneung-si, Naksan Seashore in Yangyang-gun and Guryongpo Beach in Pohang-si. They all face the East Sea - identified for its pristine waters and encompassing white sandy beaches, making it a fashionable vacation spot.
Historical and cultural landmarks can be observed during South Korea and also the most striking of those are found in the capital city, Seoul such as the Amsa-dong Prehistoric Settlement Web site, the "Five Grand Palaces" as well as the "Castle Walls of Seoul"- the remaining walls of Seoul from your historic Joseon Dynasty that practically left an important legacy on the modern face of South Korea.
Endless words are not sufficient to explain the beauty and splendor of South Korea. One has to take the plunge to touch the water, and to be left with his own devices to explore, to see and to marvel. True for the South Korean expression "san neomeo san" - over the mountain is a mountain, or just merely, "there can be a surprise within a surprise".

How Jaehee Would Act On A Date
---
after opening the cafe with you, you watched as she lightened up in all ways.
she was no longer under the constant professional pressure of the office environment, and it made her grow happier by the day.
you had a major part to play in her new attitude.
it didn't take long for her to gather up all her courage and ask you out once you began working together.
she couldn't see a future without you, and she realize her feelings were more than platonic.
and without hesitation, you accepted.
leading you to this moment on a saturday evening, hand in hand, walking along the shore of naksan beach on the outskirts of the inner city.
with a tote bag on one arm and you on the other, she lead you to a spot she had noticed earlier.
it was fit with a picnic table and some cover from the sun.
sitting you down on one side, she left to the other, placing her bag in the middle of the table you shared.
once seated, she reached to reveal the contents.
some delicious food ranging from sweet to savoury, along with a neatly wrapped gift box, one that she was quick to hide from you.
although you had already noticed it, you would let it slide for now.
"here" she said, handing you a box with a mini red velvet cake, "have a bite, it's your favourite".
the date had hardly started, but you couldn't stop the blushing that had already crept up your cheeks so early in.
"ah, thank you" you responded, going to taste a piece.
it was delicious, almost an exact replica of your favourite bakeries recipe, except more fulfilling.
"this is delicious, did you make this?" you asked in amazement.
she smiled, saying "yes, i did! i looked up the recipe of the bakeries red velvet cake and made a few adjustments to make it unique".
your heart was full of not only cake, but of appreciation.
you couldn't believe she had remembered your favourite cake, and took the time and effort to remake it in a special way.
"i, thank you so much" you responded in awe.
"of course, i want to make sure you feel loved, now let's eat up together" she said.
though you wouldn't be able to see it, she was bubbling with nerves and excitement.
your date continued for the next little bit, speaking about the future and bitching about the past like working under jumin.
seeing how the table was soon left with nothing but garbage, she quickly packed it away.
"jaehee, i can help you" you spoke, to be quickly hushed by her occupied figure.
"i don't want you to lift a finger, i can handle this" she replied, glancing at you to pass a smile before returning to the task at hand.
not wanting to bug her any further, you simply sat back down, waiting for her finish.
no longer than 3 minutes later, she took your hand to lead you on a walk back to the beach sand.
through the walk, she could be seen reaching for your hand, tangling her fingers in yours.
you saw as she inhaled, before speaking "you know, i thought i would be caught in the cooperate life forever".
she made eye contact, continuing "of course the stable income and position was nice, but i was overworked to the core. i wanted something more, but it felt impossible. until you showed up".
strengthening her hold on you, she let it all out once more, "you gave me hope, and i found a new life, one that i can't wait to share with you".
she paused, handing you the gift she had previously placed in her pocket.
you stopped for a second, untying the red ribbon it was sealed with, to be looking directly at a ring.
a ring that didn't signify an engagement, a marriage, nor a friendship.
rather one that signified a promise.
"i don't want to move too quickly, and i know odds can be against us, but will you promise to stay beside me as we figure out our futures together?" she proposed.
you looked in shock, before your expression changed to excitement, as you were ecstatic.
without taking to long to answer, you happily said yes.
she smiled, watching as you put the ring on your finger, seeing it fit perfectly.
"thank you" you let out.
seeing her loosen up and let out her feelings towards you made your heart flutter and gave you hope.
the rest of the day continued in the comfort of your new girlfriends apartment.
watching zens new musical on dvd, drinking cocktails without worry for the first time in ages.
things went well, and when the rfa found out, they supported you both as the years would go by.

200314 Taehyung’s Weverse Post
엉엉 누가울렸니
Ung ung (crying noise) who made you cry?
(T/N: Taehyung is at Naksan Beach in Yangyang, Gangwon-do with his Wooga friends and is posed next to public art. Sculpture title: 오줌싸개 (The Bed Wetter), 2017 by 김석희 (Seok Hee Kim). Traditionally, children who wet their beds were made to wear a winnowing basket over their heads whilst going to their neighbors’ homes to ask for salt. Bed-wetting was believed to be caused by evil sources that made the child physically weak and unable to control his/her bladder, and salt is thought to purify and is even used by traditional Korean fortune tellers to exorcise evil spirits. The basket was worn to ward off any evil spirits that might attach themselves to the children as they got salt from their neighbors.)

Set It Off / Part Four
Jimin x Reader
Genre: Angst, mafia!AU
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
“Go, Go, Go!”
“I’m going as fast as I can here Y/N-ah!” Jimin shot back, immediately hitting a hard left turn around a street corner as the two of you attempted to evade the police. After you all left the organization’s headquarters, the police quickly caught up to you and had been on your tail for the past 10 minutes.
“We gotta think,” you muttered anxiously to yourself. “They’re not gonna just keep chasing us for forever so they’re probably gonna set up a roadblock.”
“There’s no probably on that jagi,” Jimin murmured as he turned another corner and your eyes widened when you saw the police blockade blocking off the end of the street. The blockade was made up of a few police cars that had all parked together to form a half circle with the front of the cars, which was supposed to stop anyone from getting through.
“Baby,” Jimin spoke softly and you looked over at him. “Put your head down and don’t sit up until I tell you to.” Sensing how serious he was, you just nodded your head before parting your legs and lowering your body so that your head was in between your knees. Having your head down like that made your nausea threaten to flare up but you took deep breathes in through your nose and out through your mouth, which helped tremendously.
Suddenly, the engine of the car revved up and before you knew it, the car was surging forward. You had to press your hands against the dashboard so that your head wouldn’t hit it, and you could feel the moment when Jimin crashed the car through the blockade. You squeezed your eyes shut, hoping like hell that the BMW would be able to withstand the damage. After about a minute, you weren’t able to hear the sound of police sirens, which had been ringing in your heard ever since you left the headquarters.
“Alright baby, you can sit up,” Jimin told you and when you did so, you saw that he was speeding out onto the highway. Turning around to glance over your shoulder, you smiled in victory when you saw that there was not one police car behind the two of you.
“You’re fucking insane, you know that?” You chuckled in disbelief, and Jimin just smiled knowingly.
“They weren’t expecting us to even try and press the blockade because if they were, they wouldn’t put something a little more sturdy in the way, like spike strips or something” Jimin sighed. “Just when I start to actually feel guilty for living a life of crime, the stupidity of officers and how they literally let us get away makes me feel better about it.”
“I get it,” you laughed, abruptly stopping and slamming your hand over your mouth.
“What’s wrong?” Jimin wondered but instead of answering him, you hurriedly rolled the window down and stuck your head and the top half of your body out of the window, vomiting onto the street below. Jimin grimaced at the sound of your retching and he wanted to stop to give you time to rest, but the two of you needed to get as far away from police presence as you could while you had a head start.
“God, I’ve been holding that in all day,” you huffed as you pulled yourself back into the car and slumped down in your seat, making Jimin laugh at your words.
........................................
You’re woken up by the feeling of the car coming to a slow stop. When you open your eyes, you see that it’s now dark outside and when you look to your left, you see Jimin putting the car into park.
“What’s wrong?” You yawned loudly, reaching out and stretching your arms and legs. “Where are we?”
“Inje,” he told you and you raised an eyebrow at him.
“We’re not too far from Naksan Beach then,” you said. “So why did you stop?”
“There was a police car about 20 kilometres back,” Jimin started. “It was by itself and it didn’t stop me or turn around or anything like that, but I’ve seen two other police cars since then.”
“Oh shit,” you groaned, knowing that the first police car had probably identified your vehicle. “Well, we gotta go then.”
“No, you have to go,” Jimin told you.
“What?”
“Y/N, you have to get out of the car,” he sighed, and you instantly shook your head. “We have to split up.”
“No,” you stated firmly. “I’m not leaving you.”
“Baby, we have to,” Jimin pleaded and you looked over at him, your hardened gaze instantly softening when you saw the emotion on his face. “They’re going to be looking for this car and it’ll be better if you’re not in it in case they catch up to me.”
“What about the safe house in Naksan?” You questioned.
“I’ll catch up to you, I promise,” he swore and you tore your gaze away from his, bouncing your leg anxiously as you thought about what he said. As much as you hate to admit it, he was right. The two of you had better chances of getting away if you split up.
“What about the money?” You asked.
“Take it with you and hold onto it,” he advised you. “We’re not far from Naksan, so you should be able to walk with no problems.”
“And what about you?” You whispered, tears welling up in your eyes as you looked over at him. “Jimin, I can’t leave you.”
“Baby,” he cooed lightly, reaching over and grabbing your face in his hands, smashing his lips onto yours. The two of you kissed for what felt like forever, savoring the taste and feeling of each other’s lips. When he finally pulled away from you, he gently rested his forehead against yours. “I’ll be fine.”
“You don’t know that,” you shot back.
“There’s no reason why I won’t-,”
“Taehyung.” You muttered and that instantly shut Jimin up. “There’s no reason why Taehyung shouldn’t have been fine either, but look what happened.”
“I know but that was also his choice, as much as I hate it,” he grumbled. “I promise you, I’m not gonna leave you or our baby alone. Alright?”
“Alright,” you relented, leaning forward and giving him another kiss before pulling away from him. You then turned around and opened the car door, getting out and shutting it before moving to the backseat, opening the door and grabbing the duffel bag that had been sitting on the floor before shutting the door again. Jimin rolled down the passenger side window, and you leaned inside as you hooked the strap of the duffel bag onto your shoulder. “Call me whenever you think you’re clear.”
“I will jagi,” he promised. “Stay off the main roads if you can and go back in the opposite direction.”
“Ok,” you nodded. “I love you.”
“I love you more Y/N-ah,” he smiled. Taking a deep breath, you stepped back from the car, watching with bated breath as Jimin put the car into drive and sped off down the street. You then turned around, heading towards Naksan as you cried silently to yourself.
........................................
Two hours later, you sighed in relief as the safe house finally came into view. You knew the way up there like the back of your hand, but you had to take some detours as you heard the occasional police siren.
You quickly climbed the steps to the safe house, which was really a beach house that sat right on the shore. Reaching down and moving a large vase that held a plant, you lifted it up and grabbed the key that was taped to the bottom of it. After putting the plant back in its place, you put the key inside of the door and unlocked it, pushing it open and stepping inside afterwards.
The silent hope that you had been carrying in your head instantly deflated when you saw that the house was pitch black and cold, meaning that none of the others had made it there yet. You didn’t even want to think about what that might mean though, so you didn’t.
Sighing heavily, you toed off your shoes and left them at the front door. Walking towards the middle of the room, you set the duffel full of money on the couch before moving towards the large fireplace that was against the opposite wall. Bending down, you grabbed some old newspaper as tinder and a lighter, setting it on fire before throwing it onto of the two logs that were already sitting in the fireplace. Waiting, you made sure that it actually began to catch fire before you stood up again. Not really knowing what to do with yourself after that, you decided that the first thing to do was to hide the money.
Picking the duffel bag up again, you walked out of the open plan living room and down one of the hallways, taking a left and walking into one of the spare bedrooms. Recognizing this room from when you and Namjoon had come to scout out a potential safe house, you knew that the floorboards in this room were removable. Getting down onto your knees near the dresser, you reached around for the flap that you knew was there and once you found it, you pulled on it and smiled when it lifted up for you. Setting the piece of floor board to the side, you took the duffel bag and placed it inside, making sure that it was zipped up and concealed before grabbing the floor board and setting it back into place.
Deciding that there was nothing else that you could do at this point except for wait, you decided to go take a shower. Standing up straight, you reached over to the dresser and opened one of the drawers, smiling when you saw that the clothes that you had left there were still in their same place. Grabbing a t-shirt and some sweats, you shut the drawer before moving over to the en suite bathroom.
You cut on the light and shut the door behind you, setting your change of clothes on the counter. You then moved over to a cabinet, grabbing a large towel and a smaller face towel before shutting it again and walking back over to the counter to set the towels next to your clothes. You then looked up at the mirror that hung over the counter, and your eyes widened at your reflection as it looked back at you.
Your hair was a mess from being pulled away from your face all day, you had a few scrapes that you couldn’t even remember getting, and there were small smears of darkened blood on the apples of your cheeks, your chin, and your forehead. Seeing the blood on your face made you look down at your hands and tears instantly began to form once you saw that your hands were still covered in Taehyung’s blood from when you tried to save him.
“God dammit,” you sniffled angrily, reaching down and grabbing your shirt before yanking it up and over your head. You did the same with your bra, pants, and underwear before moving over to the shower, turning it on and not waiting for the water to warm up to get inside. The water was entirely too cold but that was ok, because you wanted something to numb you from the overwhelming emotions that you were feeling.
You wanted to blame it on the baby, hoping that it was just your fluctuating hormones that were making you this upset but deep down, you knew that wasn’t the case. You had lost a member of your family today and for the first time since your parents had passed, you felt that same dagger in your heart as you allowed yourself to sob openly into the small space of the shower.
........................................
After pulling yourself together and getting out of the shower, you ambled back out into the kitchen in search of food, knowing that you needed to at least eat something small.
You walked over to the refrigerator, opening it and sighing happily when you saw that it was fully stocked. You figured that Namjoon probably had one of the junior members of the organization make sure that all the safe houses were fully stocked just in case things went bad, and you had never been more thankful for his sense of thinking ahead as your stomach rumbled powerfully.
Grabbing the bread, cheese, and the butter out of the fridge, you moved over to the counter and dumped them all down. Deciding to make a grilled cheese since you figured that your stomach wouldn’t really be able to handle anything super heavy, you set about putting the sandwich together. Just as you moved to grab a pan to cook it in, you heard rustling from outside by the front door.
Abandoning your sandwich, you reached over and grabbed your gun that you had left on the counter. The sudden knock that sounded on the door almost made you jump out of your skin, but you recovered quickly and walked up to the door.
“Who is it?” You asked, loud enough to be heard but only barely.
“It’s us.” Immediately recognizing the voice, you put the safety on your gun before slipping it into the pocket of the sweats that you had on before you opened the door, Yoongi and Jungkook standing there shivering.
“Come in, come in,” you instructed them, moving back so that they’d have room to shuffle inside. “Are you guys ok?”
“A little exhausted, but we’re here,” Yoongi shrugged.
“We would’ve gotten here sooner but the car that we were in ran out of gas so we had to hurry and steal another one,” Jungkook said.
“Damn. What about Namjoon, Jin, and Hobi?” You wondered. “Have you heard from them?”
“Yeah, but they’re not coming here,” Yoongi started. “They ran into some roadblocks so they decided to go to the safe house in Mount Kumgang.”
“The mountains?” You replied and Yoongi nodded.
“Also, Jin hyung went down,” Jungkook revealed and your eyes widened.
“Are you serious?!” You exclaimed and Jungkook nodded.
“When they ran into the road blocks, they got surrounded so Jin hyung got out of the car to distract the police which gave Hobi hyung and Namjoon hyung time to get away,” Jungkook explained.
“Damn it,” you sighed as you crossed your arms over your chest. “Have you guys heard from Jimin then?”
“Heard from him?” Jungkook wondered, his eyes wide with surprise at your question.
“He’s not here with you?” Yoongi questioned and you shook your head. A weary look was shared between the three of you then; for Jungkook and Yoongi, it was because of the realization that Jimin had gone off on his own; for you, it was the realization that they hadn’t heard from him, and that was when you felt your heart sink into the pit of your stomach.

He Loves Her [Kyungsoo, Jongin, and Sehun]
The oc’s are the wives prior to getting married. You can read this as part of the daddy!au series or a stand alone~~
Enjoy~
Kyungsoo
Tumblr media
Yihyun and Kyungsoo were told they wouldn’t stay together after high school. Especially after Kyungsoo became a trainee in SM, everyone told them that the fame would get to Kyungsoo’s head and he would forget her. And when he joined EXO and became popular, those who knew them said Yihyun wouldn’t be able to handle him being surrounded by hundreds of fans.
Kyungsoo wanted to prove all the naysayers wrong. That their relationship could work even if Yihyun was a non-celebrity. She was the one he wanted. She was the one that he could see himself with and only her. And after five years, they were still proving their doubtful friends and family just how serious they were with one another.
Yihyun was the rock Kyungsoo could lean on when he felt like he lost his strength. She was the one he’d dubbed his anchor in any speech he gave. She had been through all his hardships with him and never once turned her back on him. And to show his appreciation, during his break, he convinced her to go out to a cabin and relax with nature.
Kyungsoo woke to see Yihyun’s side of the bed empty. He stretched as he sat up to look around the cabin’s room. There was no sound asides the birds chirping, but he could smell fresh coffee. He climbed out of bed and got changed then headed to the kitchen. Kyungsoo saw the two mugs placed by the coffee maker, so Kyungsoo made both their cups of coffee before he venture out to the porch. His breath caught in his throat as he saw Yihyun.
She leaned against the rail of the porch and stared out at the beautiful nature around them. She was already in her typical t-shirt and black skinny jeans prepared for the adventure that awaited them. Her hair was tied back and braided into a long fish tail.
And to Kyungsoo, Yihyun looked like a goddess. A gentle breeze blew past them and Kyungsoo noticed her slight shiver, “Here.” Yihyun jumped at the sudden voice beside her. She looked to see Kyungsoo holding out a mug, “I tried to make it as best as I do at home.”
Yihyun’s lips broke apart as her teeth showed in a smile, “Thanks.” She stepped over to him to take the mug. As her hands wrapped around the mug and Kyungsoo’s hand, she leaned forward and gave Kyungsoo a good morning kiss. “Good morning” she whispered as she broke the kiss.
Kyungsoo’s breath rolled over her lips before he kissed her once more, “Good morning, beautiful.”
Yihyun went back to leaning against the rail and Kyungsoo joined her. She took a sip of her coffee before adjusting it in one hand. “This was such a great idea, babe. It’s so nice out here and the air is so clean.” As if to prove her statement, she took in a deep breath before exhaling. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the ever changing clouds and she focused on them. Kyungsoo used that chance to stare at her a little longer. Feeling like she was watched, she tilted her head to Kyungsoo and caught him staring. She let out a shy chuckle, “What is it? Why are you staring?”
Kyungwoon reached out his hand and squeezed her cheek, “I just fell in love with you all over again...”
Yihyun scrunched her nose as she leaned over to rest her head on his shoulder, “I love you too, Mr. Corny.” She teased earning a flick against her forehead. The two stood there taking in the scenery with their coffee in hand not wanting the moment to end.
Jongin
Tumblr media
Though, Maya and Jongin hadn’t said those three fated words, it wasn’t something either of them were in the hurry to say. They were happy in the state their relationship was in the moment. After seven and a half months, they didn’t realize how serious both were becoming with their feelings towards one another.
It was nearing Christmas when Jongin had plans for Maya and him to spend the holiday together. However, he was caught off guard when Maya broke the news she was going home to France to spend time with her family. Of course, Jongin wasn’t going to tell her no... he didn’t have the right, but he was sad that he wouldn’t spend the holiday with his girlfriend.
He took her to the airport despite her protest as she knew he had shows and concerts to prepare for. Jongin parked his car, took her luggage, and lead her into the airport. After dropping off her luggage, the two headed towards the security. “You have everything you need?” He asked for the hundredth time since he left her apartment.
Maya smiled shyly as she looked to him as her hand reached out to his. “I promise, I got everything. And if I forget something, I can always buy it from the store.” She paused seeing the conflicted look on his face, her footsteps stopped, “Don’t worry. I’m going home. It’s not somewhere I haven’t been before.”
Jongin turned to face her and gave her a small smile, “I know. I just--I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too, but I’ll be back in three weeks. You can always call me on Kakao.”
Jongin took her face in his hands and caressed her cheeks, “I know, but I won’t get to see you or hug you or kiss you for three long weeks.” He kissed her lips once more and her eyes fluttered shut. “--ve you.”
Maya’s heart skipped a beat as her eyes opened once more, “What?”
Miseok looked in her eyes as a smile graced his lips, “I love you.”
Overwhelming emotions flooded her as she grinned widely, “I-I love you too, Jongin.” They kissed once more and a giggle slipped between their lips. Maya broke the kiss as another giggle left her lips, “Sorry, I just--I feel so giddy right now” she raked her hand through her hair as she pressed her hand and passport to her chest.
“I do too” he admitted. He looked at the security line and frowned, “You should head in before the line get long.”
Maya nodded, “Now I don’t want to leave... I’ll see you in three weeks?”
“See you in three week” with a final peck, Maya walked through security. She turned back to see Jongin and waved. Jongin waved back and let out a sigh, “Three weeks feels way too long.” He waited until she disappeared from his sight before he turned and left the airport.
Sehun
Tumblr media
“Where are we going?” Dasom asked as Sehun guided her into the metro. He muttered a soft watch your step as he walked her avoiding the early risers on the train. His hand moved from her shoulders and waved a hand in front of her blindfold to make sure it didn’t fall from her eyes. He took her hand in his and Dasom let out a giggle, “Se--Oppa, where are we going?”
Her hand went to the blindfold, but Sehun’s intercepted it and intertwined their fingers, “Trust me, yea?”
“Oppppaaaa” she whined. “You know I hate surprises.”
Sehun pulled her close to him as more people go on the metro. She shifted forward as his hand rested on her lower back. “And I love surprising you.” His hand pressed against the pole beside him as the doors shut, “Hold on to me, so you don’t fall.” Dasom wrapped her arms around his abdomen and Sehun’s heart skipped a beat. “I me-meant like grab my shirt or something” he stumbled over his words as he brushed his face into his upper arm in a feeble attempt to rub off the burning on his face.
Dasom, though blindfolded, tilted her head up to him, “Even blind, I know you’re blushing--idiot.”
He let go of the pole for a few moments as he reached out and flicked Dasom’s forehead.
Dasom sucked in air through her teeth. “You wanna die?” She clicked her teeth as she released him and rubbed her head.
“That’s what you get for teasing me.” In return, Dasom let out a string of Korean curses as she blindly held up a fist to him. Sehun took her fist in his hand and pressed a kiss on her knuckles. He refused to let go of her hand the rest of the trip as her other arm rested around his side while she pressed into him.
While in the metro, Sehun let out a light chuckle getting Dasom’s attention, “What’s up?”
“Nothing--I was just thinking about something.”
“What was it? I wanna know” she whined. When Sehun didn’t reply she gave him a pout with her bottom lip jutted out, “Please, oppa~”
Sehun choked on the air he had sucked in as he felt his face redden, “Why’d you have to say it like that?” The overhead voice called out the name of their destination before the metro stopped in the station. He took her hand and guided her out of the metro ignoring the prying eyes that watched them. Sehun looked up at the station stairs before looking back at his girlfriend. “Climb on” he instructed as he knelt in front of her and guided her hand to his shoulder. Dasom let out a confused sound. “I don’t want you tripping on stairs.”
“Fine” she heaved a breath before she climbed on his back. He hiked up the stairs as Dasom wrapped her hands around his neck, “You know” her breath rolled over his neck. “This reminds me of how we ran into each other the first time two years ago” she hummed.
Sehun exited the metro and headed down the short path to his destination, “Yea? I was thinking of that when we were in the metro” he confessed. “The coincidence that I’d run into the girl next door who just disappeared during our last year--OW!”
Dasom tsked as she shook her hand that stung slightly. “Why’s your head so hard?” She groaned, “I told you it wasn’t my fault I disappeared. My dad suddenly married his new wife in Seocheon.”
Sehun shrugged, “Doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt, idiot. I had planned to confess to you after we graduated.”
“Wait--really?” Her head moved from his neck as she blindly moved her face towards his. “Were you really?”
Sehun placed her down on the ground as a breeze blew passed them. The sea salt smell hit her nose as Sehun reached over and took off the blind fold. Her eyes adjusted to the cloudy day as the sun peeked behind the clouds. Dasom looked forward to see the crashing waves hit the sand as she smiled.
“Naksan beach? So you remembered” she chuckled.
Sehun took a couple steps in front of her before he turned back. “It’s not the Philippines like you wanted to go to, but you did say you always wanted to come here.” He reached out his hand and she took it immediately. He lead her over to him as he pressed a quick kiss to her lips, “And yes, I was going to ask you out back then.”
Dasom bit her bottom lip as she shyly looked up at him. “Well--I would have said yes back then too.” She pecked his lips once more before she let him go and headed towards the water after she kicked off her shoes.
Sehun watched her with a wide smile on his face. His heart skipped a beat at the thought that even as teens, they would have been together.

Park Chanyeol was nervous.
This was new because he didn’t get nervous a lot of times unless during important meetings.
Well, it wasn’t new, but he was exceptionally good at maintaining his expressions so he managed to look calm. Even though deep down inside he was freaking out.
So, you could say it was a bit new because the last time Chanyeol got nervous around a woman was when Junmyeon set up a blind date for him with a woman a couple of years older than him. He was sweating bullets when he waited at the restaurant and sweated, even more, when it ended. The blind date ended badly—the woman looked down on him and tried to baby him—and he wished he stayed home instead.
(He liked being babied sometimes, but only by his close friends or the people who had known him for a long time).
Ever since that blind date, he tried to lower his expectation every time Junmyeon set him up for a blind date and that was when he stopped being nervous around women.
Until you came.
As cliche as it might sound, Chanyeol never really took a good look at you until you started working in the same company as him. Yes, he might know of you since high school because Jongin had talked so highly of you and since college too because you were a member of the student union, but he never got the chance to work closely with you—or have the chance to actually interact with you.
Yes, Chanyeol had always thought that you were sweet—Jongin never stopped praising you every time he managed to bring you up in conversation—and smart too—because if you weren’t then Junmyeon wouldn’t scout you to work together with him during college and for him too in his company. Also yes, Chanyeol thought that you were beautiful—he remembered that one time when you wore a dress to work and he literally had to stop walking to admire you.
But that was all it was. He knew of you, but he didn’t know you.
The first time he caught a layer of you was when he saw you scolding Junmyeon on the very same day you were wearing the dress. Chanyeol had business to attend with Junmyeon but his steps halted in front of his office when he saw you standing in front of Junmyeon’s desk with your hands perched on your hips.
“I told you plenty of times before to not call me after work hours. We had a deal, remember? You can email or text me and you don’t call me unless it’s urgent or a life-or-death situation. You were the one who started the deal in the first place.” Hearing this, Chanyeol stayed rooted in front of the door and waited until you were done—that wasn’t until ten minutes later, though, when you spotted him hovering outside.
Chanyeol saw how the frustrated look across your face change into a friendlier look—there was even a smile—and that was the first time he felt something stir inside of him, but he let it side. He always pushed it aside even though it happened again a few times after that—even when he passed by your desk every time he was about to go into Junmyeon’s office or when he was in the same elevator as you in the morning.
He saw you smile a lot of times before, but until now, the sight still made him smile. Your smile—no matter if it was small or wide until it stretched to your ears—was always infectious to him.
That’s why when you were smiling at the sight of the ocean as both of you drove by, Chanyeol couldn’t help but smile to himself and feel a little proud of himself of making this decision. It was actually an impulse decision, though. There were only two places to check left and Jongdae had so kindly checked one place because it was on his way to his parents’ place. Chanyeol really didn’t make him check that place by himself and bribe him with a week’s worth of lunch at the sandwich shop near the office.
(Chanyeol totally did.)
“We haven’t arrived yet, but this place has already won me over.” Chanyeol glanced at you a few times and couldn’t help the smile that stretched across his face. You were just too cute smiling while looking out at the ocean like that and if he wasn’t driving, he would have a pretty hard time holding himself back from pinching your cheeks. “The beautiful weather makes it better, too.”
The weather isn’t as beautiful as you are, though, he wanted to say, but instead, he said, “Yeah, it definitely does.”
“Gosh, when was the last time I went to a beach?” You mused out loud and missed the way Chanyeol took another glance at you.
“Should we stop by the beach later?” Chanyeol could feel your eyes on him once the question was out of his mouth. “It’d be fun. It’s been a while since I went to a beach too.” It was out of his mouth before he could properly think about it, but after hearing the ecstatic ‘yes’ from you, he didn’t regret it one bit.
It was not in the plan, actually. His plan was actually to get back to Seoul by dinner time so he could take you for a dinner at his favorite place—and probably a walk in the park around Han river, if you were willing. He had planned to buy some desserts too—ice cream or a bowl of bingsu with you, again if you were willing to do that—before he dropped you off by your door. But maybe, straying away from his actual plan and just riding the flow for once would be nice. Who knew maybe it could probably lead him somewhere he was planning to go.
Naksan beach was beautiful. That was the first thing that crossed your mind when you and Chanyeol got out of the car and finally walked to the beach.
Well, it’s already night and you couldn’t see anything besides the sand and hear the small waves crashing to the shores, but the sight of it was enough for you. There was something refreshing about the wind and the faint smell of the salty water. The wild, childish part of you wanted to take off your shoes and hike up your pants so you could feel the sand between your toes, but the much more mature and rational part of you, that told you to take a deep breath and enjoy it quietly, won.
Taking off your shoes, you felt the sand between your toes and smiled at the familiar feeling. With your shoes on one hand and your bag on another, you stood still and looked down at the sand, trying to capture the sight and memorize it.
“Oh, this is nice.” Turning to look over your shoulder, Chanyeol, too, had taken off his shoes and walked slowly on the sand. It was an interesting sight, watching him walk barefoot with his rather semi-formal attire, but the goofy smile on his face and a faint coo—your heart was about to burst when you heard it—that’s out of his mouth when he felt the sand in between his toes were even more interesting and amusing.
Once he was near, you realized that he had a towel on his hand. He laid the towel on the sand and gestured for you to sit on it. Without really thinking about it, you casually sat on the towel, but then, you felt like your heart about to leap out of your chest when Chanyeol sat next to you. The towel wasn’t really big, so he sat really close and even your thigh could almost touch his.
You didn’t expect this. Never in your life before. Your heart was racing, but you told yourself to calm down. There was no reason for you to act like a fool like this. Chanyeol was just your boss—and your friend too. Nothing to be nervous about.
“We should convince Jongdae and the entire team to pick this hotel. It’s definitely best out of the ones we’ve checked.” It was the only thing you could think of to say, to break the silence between the two of you. You pulled your legs back and rested your chin on your kneecaps, letting out a sigh.
“It’s actually a little bit over the budget we settled, but I think that can be handled. We could figure things out.” You nodded at his words, glad that he thought the same as you did.
The hotel you checked was really nice, though. The beach was only about 20 minutes from there, and there was also a hiking track that led to the mountain and the well-known temple in the area. The facilities they had were outstanding too, and you really thought it was the one. Both of you only needed to convince the rest of the team (and Junmyeon) to pick this one. It wouldn’t be too hard, you were sure. You knew the beach would be a total selling point.
“When was the last time you went to a beach?” You couldn’t help but ask, after thinking about the beach.
“Uh, it’s been so long...” He paused. You turned your head to watch him, watching how he tilted his head up to the sky and blinked his eyes slowly as if it would fasten the wheels turning in his brain. “I think… about two years ago? I guess it’s when I went to Jeju-do with Junmyeon-hyung and Jongdae.” You hummed, nodding softly.
“It must’ve been nice,” you breathed out and Chanyeol tilted his head back down, turning a little bit to see you. “The last time I went to Jeju-do was when I was a kid.”
“You’re kidding.” You shook your head and chuckled at his disbelief.
“There’s no point of going to Jeju-do for the beach when this one isn’t even an hour away from home.” You turned your head away from him and stared at the water crashing onto the shore calmly, letting out a sigh at the memories of you and Jongin visiting the beach at night. “I went here a lot with Jongin when we had tons of things to think about.”
Back in your college day, there was a time in your senior year where you would go to the beach with Jongin almost every month on weekend—if both of you weren’t swamped up with mounting homework and a strong desire to sleep in. Jongin, the one with a car was always up to come with you to visit your parents—who had just moved—and stop by the beach before going back to Seoul. The two of you would sit on the sand and talk about a lot of things. Jongin would talk about the expectations his parents had because he was the only son in the family and how afraid he was of letting them down. Meanwhile, you would talk about the insecurities you had on your studies and the endless what-ifs of how your life would be after college.
But the last time you went to the beach wasn’t with Jongin. Too impatient to call and wait for Jongin, you borrowed your parents’ car and drove here by yourself. It was clearly a different experience, but it was nice. Unlike before where you mused out loud your worries to your cousin, you still kept it to yourself, but the beach was quiet and serene enough that you could hear yourself think.
(You only stayed for about thirty minutes, though. The beach was just too quiet and you were getting scared of staying by yourself).
“The last time I went here was after Junmyeon offered me this job,” you continued, a light chuckle escaping your lips.
“It wasn’t in your plan, was it? To work with Junmyeon?” His voice was soft and low, almost like he was whispering.
“Well, I was aiming to work at a publishing company, you know. I applied to some companies but the results weren’t what I hoped so I took his offer in the end. Thought it’s better than being jobless for too long.” You shifted around and straightened your legs in front of you because it was starting to cramp. “What about you? Is it really what you wanted since the beginning?”
“I think so? I mean, I’ve never really thought about it because this is what we’ve been doing since the beginning, you know?” You didn’t quite get what he said, but you kept quiet and waited for him to finish your words. “But if there was another career path I’d like to pursue, it’s probably to become a photographer.”
Out of every the encounter you had with Chanyeol back in college, he had always had his camera with him. He didn’t use it every single time you saw him, though, but he always kept it by his side. There was also that one time where you met him when you were doing a freelance job and Chanyeol was there to help his cousin with his photoshoot too. When you saw him that day, you only passed him a smile and said hello briefly. You were way too timid to approach him and spend some time to talk to him back then.
That’s why, if you thought about it, you could’ve laughed at the situation you’re in at the moment. Never in a million years had you thought you’d be sitting on a beach with Chanyeol. This situation was weird but good weird.
Both of you stayed for a little while—Chanyeol asking about Jongin and if you noticed how he’d been too happy and energetic these days (you didn’t). Chanyeol told you about how Jongin had become even better at his job and how Chanyeol felt like telling Junmyeon to give your cousin a promotion. You were surprised at it—glad that Jongin was doing good—and supported Chanyeol of his decision.
“Should we go back now?” You asked once he was done telling you about Jongin. You realized that the night was getting deeper and if you didn’t leave any sooner, you’d reach Seoul at midnight.
“Yeah, I think so,” Chanyeol agreed and stood up from the blanket, dusting off the back of his pants to make sure that there weren’t sand stuck on it. You waited until he moved a little bit to the side so you could stand up without bumping into him, but he stuck his hand out to you instead.
Blinking your eyes at his hand, you stared at it with furrowed eyebrows and looked up to see Chanyeol smiling down at you softly. “C’mon. I’ll help you up.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the gesture, but you decided quickly to not think too much about it. Inhaling a sharp intake of breath, you put your hand on his and gripped it tightly. He pulled you up to your feet, taking your breath away as he did so. It felt like a rush, having your hand in his—even though it was only out of courtesy—and you hoped that your hand didn’t suddenly become sweaty because that would be embarrassing.
“Thank you.” Flashing him a small smile, you took a step back and let go of his hand so you could dust off the back of your pants.
Before joining him back in his car, you made your way to the convenience store and bought some drinks—a bottled coffee specially for Chanyeol because you figured out how much he liked coffee and a couple of bottles of water. It was, at least, the thing you could do since he paid for dinner and even took some of his time to sit with you on the beach.
The whole day you tried to push the nerves from showing through, but when you finally sat in the passenger seat with Chanyeol driving next to you and none of you saying anything, it all came back to you slowly—meeting your parents briefly and spending a bit of time at the beach. It hadn’t even been long since you started talking to Chanyeol (and meeting with him, too, sometimes) but it gave you a feeling like you had been friends with him for long. Even though, yes, you’d known him for long, but you never reached this level of being friends with him.
It felt nice if you were being honest with yourself. It was kind of nerve-wracking too because while you had told yourself to keep calm and be cool with the whole thing, it was hard. The underlying feelings for him from the early days sometimes liked to come up to the surface and mess with you. Especially when Chanyeol did things that seemed too friendly for you—like when he sat a little bit too close to you or when he suddenly grabbed your hand to help you stand.
You tried your best to not think too much of it, but you couldn’t help it. As the songs from whatever playlist Chanyeol put on filled the car on your way back to Seoul, those thoughts dominated your brain. Your head became quite a jumbled mess that you ended up tuning out everything and fell asleep.
You didn’t know how long you were asleep for, but when you woke up, the car was already parked in the apartment parking lot and there were feather-light touches on your cheek. Those touches were so light it almost lulled you deeper into the dreamland if there weren’t continuous calls of your name.
At the familiar voice, you let out a loud yawn and opened your eyes. Seeing Chanyeol’s face, the realization hit you late. Your eyes widened a bit as you sat straighter in your seat, hands busy tidying your hair.
“We’re here,” he spoke softly, a hint of amusement lacing in his tone.
“Oh, gosh, I’m so sorry I fell asleep.” You hated how panicky you sounded, but you calmed down a little bit when Chanyeol shook his head faintly, a little smile (and dimple) showing on his face.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it.” You let out a sigh of relief and smiled sheepishly at him, thankful that he was kind enough to let you sleep—although you felt kind of sorry because you weren’t awake to accompany him and talk to him as he drove.
The walk to your apartment was spent in silence. Since you were still kind of sleepy, you couldn’t even find yourself to make a conversation with him. All you wanted was to lean on him and shut your eyes for a few seconds until the elevator reached your floor. Too bad you couldn’t, though. So, you just kind of stood there and fought the sleep coating your eyes.
“Are your parents staying over for the night?” Chanyeol asked when the elevator reached your floor. He let you walk out first and hovered his hand on your lower back—you could feel it.
“Yeah, they’re going home tomorrow by train,” you casually answered, each step took you closer to your apartment and left you little time to spend with him. When you finally reached your door, though, you just sighed and turned your back to the door so you could face Chanyeol.
The two of you just stood there. You had to look up a bit to get a good look of his face, which you did—and it was a good idea, to take one last good look of his face before you went to bed. There weren’t many chances where you could see how Chanyeol looked like when he was bone-tired and sleepy—the tiredness might have just caught up to him—and the soft, sleepy look across his face tugged at the strings of your heart. The urge to tuck him into bed was strong, but there was no way you could act on it, so you just did nothing.
Thankfully, Chanyeol broke the silence first. “I’ll see you at the office, then.” Even when he’s tired, he still managed to crack a thin smile for you. The urge to coo was, once again, strong. It didn’t help when he kind of looked like a tired grown-puppy—especially with his messy hair.
“Yeah, sure. Thank you for today, too, by the way. For, you know, picking me and my parents up at the mall and driving them home too.” You were genuinely thankful, even though your parents kind of embarrassed you a bit, but it was all fine because Chanyeol didn’t really think too much of it—bless his heart.
“It’s no problem.” You nodded. And then, Chanyeol did something unthinkable to you. He raised his hand to put it on your hand and ruffled your hair, messing it up a good measure and your heart might have just skipped a fucking beat. “Get some rest, okay?” His voice went a bit low and he trailed his hand lower until he could tuck a little bit of your hair to the back of your ear, before finally dropping his hand to the side. The only thing you could do—other than widening your eyes a tad bit—was just nod dumbly.
“You, too,” you croaked out and cleared your throat.
He nodded at you once, faintly, before turning and walking the short walk to the elevator. You still stayed there, in front of your door, and waited until he got into the elevator and flashed you one last smile for you to keep until Monday before the door closed between the two of you. When it was only just you, you noticed how odd you felt after spending a whole day with him. How the dynamic between the two of you had shifted a little bit into something so familiar but odd at the same time, but also the dynamic that you welcomed with open arms.
Your tired brain wasn’t thinking about the consequences just yet, though. Your brain was still happily indulging the fireworks in your heart. It was still too early to think about the consequences, your heart decided. Even though you were sure that once the morning came and you could think over the things happened today, your brain and heart would be on different sides and you would be left confused by everything.

Bye, Korea
I taught English in Busan, Korea for a year, ending June 2011. I remember the dread I felt flying to Portland then. I left Portland again and returned to Korea February 2013. I felt like I was home. Since then, I’ve quit teaching and I’ve been working remotely for almost four years. When I flew back to Portland in August 2017, without any intention of coming back to South Korea, butterflies (different from before) filled my stomach.
I love Korea and it’s been a great experience living there. I love learning more about where I come from and improving on the language. I also know in my heart that I’m American and that I want to create my home in the U.S.
For the last month in Korea, I walked around as if in a trance. I can’t believe how much time has passed and how much life has changed. I miss singing along with my appliances (i.e. rice cooker and washing machine) and waking up with tinfoil in my bed because I fell asleep eating kimbap.
I feel nostalgic for a time, as well as places, which is an overwhelming feeling. It’s scary to think of returning to Korea, and think of the last time I left, as if no time had passed at all. Time goes fast, life is short, and the impermanence of things is hitting me harder than it ever has.
I did SO much in Korea, met amazing people, ate all the things, and had amazing experiences. But, still, I know I can’t do everything I wanted to do or do things again. There are so many places to go in this world, but maybe I’ll be back. Because I obsessively make lists, here’s a list of places I wanted to experience but didn’t make the time for:
Andong Traditional Folk Village - Rural Korea is a sharp contrast from the fast-paced neon and concrete cityscapes. I never went to the mask festival at the end of September and beginning of October each year. Apparently this is the town for some awesome chicken, as well.
Anyang Art Park (안양예술공원) - This a cool park in Anyang City that's free and a photo dream. You can get off at Anyang Station (Line 1) and take bus number 2 to the park. It's a very large place and it might be a bit confusing, but so many photo worthy spots. Definitely wear walking shoes and bring water in this heat!
Beopgi basin - Nestled in the mountains just 45 minutes north of Busan. Renting a car and visiting Hongryong Falls (홍룡폭포) would be a great way to spend a day.
Beopjusa temple stay - Literally “Mountain Removed from Worldliness,” Songnisan is where the 7th-century Buddhist Beopjusa temple is still located. It has the largest buddha in Korea.
Bukchon Village - I’ve been here before but really wanted to visit this picturesque neighborhood again. It’s flanked by two palaces —Gyeongbok Palace to the west and Changdeok Palace to the east— this village has the largest cluster of privately owned traditional Korean wooden homes or hanok in Seoul. The easiest way to get to Bukchon in Seoul is to go out Anguk Station (subway line 3) Exit 3.
Cheongdo - I probably couldn’t stomach the bull fights but I always wanted to see the Wine Tunnel (와인 터널).
I really wanted to go to Chuncheon/Gapyeong again just to eat the Dak Galbi (닭갈비). I could eat dalkkalbi every day, and it really is the best where it was invented. The two best places are “Tong Na Mu Jip” and “1.5.″
I’ve been to Geoje several times, but, yeah, I want to go again. I’d love to hike up Mt. Daegumsan, take a short boat ride to Oedo Island, and ride the zipline at Deokpo Beach.
I visited my friend Anne in Suwon when she was teaching a camp there, but I didn’t have the time to explore the Hwaseong Fortress (수원 화성) or Toilet Museum.
Jeonju - I’d like to try the bibimbap and visit the Hanok Village (전주 한옥마을).
Jirisan - What a shame that I never made it to the top of this mountain. I’ll always cherish the lovely trips I’ve had out there and only wish I could have spent more time there.
Kimchi Museum - I walked by this place so many times in Insadong but never went. Where else in the world will you be able to go to a museum solely dedicated to the Korean staple, kimchi? Kimchi, or seasoned fermented vegetables, is at the heart of Korean culture and its food and is usually eaten with every meal. There are 187 different documented types, ranging from kimchi of different ripeness levels to water kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and radish kimchi varieties. In addition, it is not uncommon for Korean households to have refrigerators solely dedicated for the storage of kimchi. At the museum, you can taste 7-8 different types of kimchi, view bacteria found in kimchi under a microscope, and even learn how to make kimchi in the education room.
Oh, to see Kyeongju again. Korea used to be divided into three major kingdoms (Silla, Baekje, and Goguryeo) until the Silla kingdom conquered the other kingdoms and made Gyeongju the capital. Gyeongju remained the capital of this region for approximately 1000 years, leading to the creation of a number of archaeological treasures that are well worth your time.
On several visits to Seoul, I missed out visiting a Hanbok Cafe in Insadong or the Princess Diary Cafe outside Exit 3 of the Ehwa Women’s University subway station. These dress cafes give you the opportunity to wear a Korean traditional dress or wedding dress at rental prices of 15,000₩ ~ 40,000₩ an hour.
The Robo Life Museum in Pohang does require a reservation but looks pretty awesome. Some are miniature robots programmed to be Psy back up dancers, some are robotic fish that swim, and some are robotic seals designed for therapy.
Seonyudo sits off the west coast of the peninsula, 90 minutes from Gunsan by boat.
Seoraksan again. It was so lovely in the fall --but I see endless beauty in every season.
Seoul Fortress Trail, the Naksan section covers an enjoyable scenic route from Hansung University Station and the Hyehwa Gate traveling south alongside Naksan Park and Ihwa Mural Village until you arrive in the crowded, neon streets of Dongdaemun with the landmark Dongdaemun Gate at the foot of the pathway. The route itself doesn’t take too long to cover with sunset a recommended time to visit so as to enjoy the spectacular views across the city at their finest. Accessible from Hansung University Station, Seoul Subway Line 4 Exit 4.
Seoul Palaces - There are a lot of them (e.g. Gyeonghui Palace. Deoksugung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Gyeongbokgung) and many are near each other. I always planned to see them all but ultimately got a distracted or bored.
Seoul Forest - This park was opened in 2005 and features absolute beauty. It’s a bit of a trip from downtown Seoul, but I’ve heard it has five connected parks and it’s possible to see deer Located outside Seoul Forest Station (Subway Bundang Line) Exit 3.
Ujeon Beach in “Slow City”
Controversy aside, I wanna see Ulleungdo + Dokdo.
Uponeup (우포늪) is the largest and oldest wetland area in Korea, a protected area that dates back to times when dinosaurs ruled the world. A favouite with Korean photographers due to the unspoiled setting and views that the wetlands offer up, it sounds like a romantic weekend.
Yeosu is a port city on South Korea’s East China Sea coast. I haven’t researched what to do there but I’ve always wanted to visit.
I don’t know much about the city of Yulpo but when my friend Allison went, she couldn’t wait to share: “I just spent three days there and visited the big tea plantation ten minutes away (TWICE!). It's a tiny farm village next to an empty beach. And there is a green tea spa on the beach. It was heaven.”
Alright, Korea, maybe next time.

comes and goes
@rmkou
five years old is the first time, in the swimming pool of their two-story home on the outskirts of los angeles. yeseul isn't around to shove him in head first and get away with it, so the then-boy is under the firm, patient guide of his father’s hands instead. finding the bottom of the pool is easy, sitting and staying still somehow easier, arms tucked over his knees, breath held. sunlight ripples from above. he blinks in blue through his goggles. then slowly, slowly he lifts himself from the floor, feet paddling, limbs stretch, stretch, stretching until his mouth breaks water, then air.
all it takes is a single pointer finger to the map. it's an open invitation of a gesture, complete with the questioning glance he throws at kou. here?
a day later, they are, in fact, here. naksan beach spreads itself out smooth across the northern coastline, sand near cream-soft sinking beneath his feet as dazzling blue waves pull in their back-forth motion, low tide in a high noon. a lone trail of footprints are left untouched by the sea foam. there’s no smell of chlorine that lingers, that’s for sure. a welcome change from the slick tiles that they’re tasked to clean, the shrill call of gulls, incheon port bustle behind them by the distance of mountains.
yejun swings his bag idly as they walk, drinking in the view. meditative. the gravel in his voice loosens from his throat. “you’re welcome to say thanks, by the way.”

Tourist-friendly Yangyang!
Whenever I travel to Gangwon-do, I usually go to Gangneung, Sokcho, Chuncheon, Wonju, and Pyeongchang. The first time I have heard of Yangyang was in 2018 when Yangyang International Airport was re-opened to cater to visitors during the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. I was surprised to learn from my Korean friend that Yangyang is dubbed as Korea’s Hawaii. So, with that in mind, I was really excited to see what Yangyang has to offer to its foreign travelers!
Unlike Seoul, Yangyang doesn't have a subway system, only buses and taxis are available. That's why to make travel easier for tourists, the local government has recently introduced the Yangyang foreign tourist taxi services! I was lucky to be one of the first tourists who got to experience their newly-introduced service.
Tumblr media
This taxi service is only KRW 20,000/person for 3 hours. Three to four passengers can fit in a taxi.

Overall, my experience with Yangyang’s foreign tourist taxi service was nice and hassle-free. I recommend it to everyone interested in touring Yangyang. Here are the reasons why:
1.) Convenience
You’ll have to book and choose which places you want to see. Your friendly driver will do all the work for you. No need to navigate roads and figure out everything on your own. Just need to sit back and relax, and you’ll get to where you wanted!
2.) Time-saver
You don’t have to search for addresses or wait for the buses. It saves you from stress and saves you a tremendous amount of time.
3.) Affordable
It’s only KRW 20,000 per person for 3 hours. The maximum passenger is 4. Although this does not include the parking fee, toll, entrance fee, etc.), it’s quite a good deal!
Yangyang’s foreign taxi service website is currently under construction. In the meantime, you can check these websites for more information:
