AFRICAN WOMEN YOU SHOULD KNOW
Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (25 October 1900 – 13 April 1978), was a teacher, political campaigner, women's rights activist and traditional aristocrat in Nigeria. She served with distinction as one of the most prominent leaders of her generation.
Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti began her active participation in feminism when she created the Abeokuta Ladies Club (ALC), which later became the Women's Union of Abeokuta (AWU). She created this group to promote gender equality, and to raise awareness against the injustice that women were receiving. The club began with middle-class and working-class women who were Western educated, but quickly expanded to market women, and soon, over 100,000 women were a part of the organization. Owing to the number of women who were a part of the organization, they expanded once again. This time they became the Nigerian Women's Union (NWU). The organization expanded one last time, becoming known as the Federation of Nigerian Women's Societies (FNWS). The organization with Kuti's leadership fought for equality in all areas for women.
Ransome-Kuti launched the organization into public consciousness when she rallied women against price controls that were hurting the market women. Trading was one of the major occupations of women in the Western Nigeria at the time. Ransome-Kuti lead a countless protest against Abeokuta and Nigeria. Her first well known protest came in 1948 when she led a protest in Abeokuta against a tax placed on women. She was angered by this new tax not just because it was a sexist tax, but also due to women where not represented in government at that time. She controlled the ruler's palace for two years until the tax was in the end lifted. In 1949, she led a protest against Native Authorities, especially against the Alake of Egbaland. She presented documents alleging abuse of authority by the Alake, who had been granted the right to collect the taxes by his colonial suzerain, the Government of the United Kingdom. He subsequently relinquished his crown for a time due to the affair. She also oversaw the successful abolishing of separate tax rates for women. In 1953, she founded the Federation of Nigerian Women Societies, which subsequently formed an alliance with the Women's International Democratic Federation.
Ransome-Kuti campaigned for women's votes. She was for many years a member of the ruling National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) party, but was later expelled when she was not elected to a federal parliamentary seat. She was the treasurer and subsequent president of the Western NCNC Women's Association. After her suspension, her political voice was diminished due to the direction of national politics, as both of the more powerful members of the opposition, Awolowo and Adegbenro, had her support close by. However, Ransome-Kuti continued her activism. In the 1950s, she was one of the few women elected to the house of chiefs. At the time, this was one of her homeland's most influential bodies.
Ransome-Kuti's political activism led to her being described as the doyenne of female rights in Nigeria, as well as to her being regarded as "The Mother of Africa." Early on, she was a very powerful force advocating for the Nigerian woman's right to vote. She was described in 1947, by the West African Pilot, as the "Lioness of Lisabi" for her leadership of the women of the Egba people on a campaign against their arbitrary taxation.

The north will determine Nigeria’s next president In Nigeria’s politics, the north is indispensable – and it has always been. By the contrivance of kismet, the north has always held all the aces as the repository of political power since independence. And I say it is divine. In the 1959 general election, the north showed its strength. The Northern People’s Congress (NPC) won 134 seats in parliament (the highest number of seats). Although it polled 1,922,179 votes, it entered into an entente with the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) which won 81 parliamentary seats and polled 2,594,577 votes. Owing to the alliance, Tafawa Balewa emerged as Nigeria’s first prime minister while Nnamdi Azikiwe became Nigeria’s first non-executive president. Action Group, Obafemi Awolowo’s party won 73 seats in parliament and recorded 1,992,364 votes. Even at that time, there was the fear that the north owing to its size and number could rule in perpetuity if the principle of popular representation was exclusively applied in selecting leaders. So, it made sense that there was a modification to the rule such that one political party could not single-handed form a government. COALITION POLITICS was devised to allay fears and attenuate the suspicion of ethnic domination. The introduction of the presidential system of government in 1979 changed the complexion of Nigeria’s politics. Under the presidential system, it is ‘winner-takes-it-all’ as one political party forms the government, while the loser retreats into opposition to throw a spanner in the works. But I think, the framers of the constitution envisaged a situation where votes from only one section of the country are enough to make anyone president — which could engender sectional hegemony; so they introduced the ‘’2/3 majority vote rule’’. That is, ‘’a (presidential) candidate must receive a majority of the vote and over 25% of the vote in at least 24 of the 36 states’’ to be declared president. This is to ensure sufficient geographical spread and mainstream approval of any candidate. But the fundamental thing is the majority vote which the north confidently wields. "THE ONLY NATIONAL SIN TINUBU HAS COMMITTED IN THE FACE OF THE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOLKS A.K.A (LIBERAL YORUBAS) IS FORMING A COALITION WITH LIKE-MINDED NORTHERN POLITICAL PARTY OUTSIDE OF YORUBALAND".
Olayinka Herbert Marculey in 1923 formed NNDP(Nigeria National Democratic Party) he was only able to campaign and win elections in Lagos Yorubaland; in his quest to build more forces and create more avenue for political participation he formed yet again NCNC( National Council of Nigeria and Cameroons) in 1944.
Olayinka Herbert Marculey's NCNC brought about coalition and merger of people from the eastern Nigeria such as namdi Azikwe and the likes along with Yorubas who as at then were in NNDP.
Obafemi J. Awolowo in 1951 formed a political party called the Action Group, the party which dominated and won political seats in the Western Region further succeeded in their quest to create better Yorubaland.
In 1960, Obafemi J. Awolowo couldn't form a Coalition with neither the Igbo Political party nor with the Northern political party in the National election, the aftermath of which made Awolowo became the opposition leader at the centre and remained strong force only in the Western Region.
Again In 1979, Obafemi J. Awolowo also pushed The Unity Party of Nigeria forward as the presidential candidate, the party which was majorly of Yoruba people also failed in the General Election of 1979 and 1983 respectively, even though he was supported by few minorities but with no strong coalition which made one of the liberal Yorubas then used the medium to truncate and frustrated Pa, Obafemi Awolowo out of politics till his demise in 1987.
The New Era of Tinubu under Action Congress and Action Congress of Nigeria in 2007 won elections across Yorubaland but was again frustrated by the initial liberal mind among us. Those who were rusely established by the man who hate Yorubaland's development was pursued out of office under the presidency of Yar'Adua.
In 2011, The Tinubu political party became the majority and an established party within Yorubaland. Tinubu needed a coalition to build more forces for recognition and more progressive achievement than what it were, we believed that Tinubu decided to change direction from believing in Igbo political party, having learnt from Pa Obafemi Awolowo's failure who believed in Igbo coalition and failed. Tinubu went ahead to form a coalition with the Northern political party for the first time in the political history of Yorubaland, he agreed on (CPC) in 2015 and merged the two political parties together in agreement that the North produce the president why Yorubaland produce the Vice President.
The two party came together and won in 2015, and again in 2019 respectively. The trend 📈 in Tinubu's coalition with the North became the headache of the liberal shitheads since then and would want Tinubu killed just for this reason.
How unsound are the liberal Yorubas??? Unfortunately for them, the Tinubu they hate remains the only Yoruba leader who has groomed more brain powers across Yorubaland, all of whom are making us proud in their respective political fields and office today.
The liberals are never Smart in thinking, this is why we always refer to them as shitheads.

NNAMDI KANU AND IGBO LEADERSHIP SAGA: THE POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS AND DILEMMA FOR THE IGBO RACE
Tumblr media
In the 1950/60s only the IGBO political leaders wanted a “United Nigeria”. Only the IGBO leaders formed a ‘NATIONAL’ PARTY, even though Nigeria’s political system right from birth was “TRIBAL”. Ethnicity Syndrome and Political Nationalism in Nigeria
Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, can boast of her salient Political Nationalists. They may be occasionally known as “Freedomites”. Most of our youngsters in Faculties are continuously reminded in their heroic deeds. But their evil deeds are frequently unnoticed. In reality, this article will argue that they all had an Ethnicity Syndrome, via the Tripartition coverage of the British. Sadly, Nigeria now suffers the results and outcomes of this ethnicity syndrome on her political Nationalists. But, to similarly buttress and pitch clarity to the factor we’re driving at, it’s far paramount to offer a concise analysis of the very idea of Ethnicity Syndrome.
Ethnicity Syndrome metaphorically refers to a sickness diagnosed to the ones whose moves and judgments are prompted by the sensation of belonging to a specific organization. These sort of humans often take their group or tribe as an authority and additionally declare that their group is the first-class amongst others. Their movements and judgments are frequently influenced by this feeling. Hence, on this feel, we are able to say they have an ethnicity syndrome. Given this backdrop, it’s far expedient to delve into the principle route of this newsletter.
Ethnicity (or tribalism) first reared its head at some stage in the second Global Warfare. This War decreased the leadership performance of the Colonial Masters in Nigeria, which in flip caused a duration of remarkable famine, inequality, insecurity, and so forth. Due to this, several agencies were fashioned to cater to the desires of their members. Such groups include; The Egba Society (1918), The Union of Ijebu Young Men(1923), The Yoruba Union(1924), The Ibibio Nation Union, and so on. Due to a negative financial system, low protection, unemployment, and so forth, These ethnic agencies started out to compete towards each different in a socio-economic competition. every ethnic organization will fight different ethnic groups, to make sure it caters for the want of its very own contributors. It turned into at this point ethnicity, have become a complete-scale insurgency.
Furthermore, the cut up in the Nigerian Young people Motion(NYM), which changed into caused by using an ethnicity rift among Nigeria’s political Nationalists(Ikoli, Awolowo, Akinsanya and Nnamdi Azikwe), also aided the problem of ethnicity inside us of a. In anger, Nnamdi Azikiwe led his Igbo supporters out of the organization, and Obafemi Awolowo did equally. At this point, it’s miles absolutely secure to mention that the knowledgeable elite within the Nigerian Children Motion had an ethnicity syndrome, For that reason leading to the crumble of the Movement.
Consequently, the British introduction of the tripartite coverage via the Richards charter of 1943, further exacerbated the difficulty of ethnicity within the USA. through the Richards charter, Nigeria has divided into three Massive areas; the northern area, the western vicinity, and the gap region, which represented the 3 predominant tribes of Nigeria; the Hausa, the Yoruba and the Igbo respectively. In like way, the several ethnic groups that were formed prior to that time were also amalgamated to shape the Egbe Omo Oduduwa society in London(1945), the Ibo Kingdom Union(1944), and the Jamaica Mutanen Arewa. every also representing the three Large tribes in Nigeria. “An awful situation in a country which was supposed to be united as one”(Jide Olanrewaju). Though, having being infected with an ethnicity syndrome which becomes further strengthened by means of the British tripartition coverage, the impact of this ethnicity syndrome on Nigeria’s political Nationalists, turned into quickly to surface.
Given that different African countries had begun the combat for political independence, it becomes no surprise that Nigerian knowledgeable elites( Awolowo, Azikwe, and so on) started to combat for political independence. This changed into similarly aided while the Richards charter of 1943 legalized the politicization of communal institutions. Therefore, the Egbe Omo Oduduwa society became the Movement institution of Nigeria(AG) in 1951 headed by Awolowo, the Igbo State Union have become the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroon(NCNC) in 1944 headed by means of Azikwe, and the Jamiya Mutanen Arewa became the Northern people’s Congress(NPC) in 1951 headed with the aid of Ahmadu Bello.
Ultimately, Nigeria has become an impartial Country in 1960, and the first Republic began. Unfortunately, the chain of tribal events that ensued before independence, caused the immoderate corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement of public budget within the first republic. “The North wanted to make sure they remained in strength, the South wanted to ensure it tasted electricity”(Jide Olanrewaju). At this factor, the effect of an ethnicity syndrome, suffered by way of Nigeria’s political nationalists, commenced actualizing. Their movements and judgments had been clouded. They took greed, corruption, and nepotism, as virtues. Manifestly they were all underneath the affect of an ethnicity syndrome. In truth, Nigeria turned into absolutely in shambles, throughout the primary Republic. In flip, these shambling surroundings swept the navy into electricity and were at once answerable for the first Nigerian Coup. At this point, Nigeria becomes still redeemable. However that wish became shattered when Well known Murtala Ramat Muhammad, took power for himself without the attention of a due technique as completed with Generals Ironsi and Gowon. In truth, a classified US memorandum of August 18, 1975, argued that Muritala’s Action will cause other coups and illegitimate take-overs. Lamentably, the categorized US memo turned into accurate. For that reason began the downfall of Nigeria.
The political nationalists dealt an extreme blow to the primary Republic. Being under the influence of an ethnicity syndrome, they have been at once liable for the political tragedy of the first republic. No matter the fact that they gave Nigeria her political independence, they However betrayed that independence due to their corrupt deeds within the first republic. it is pretty Regrettably that we even the faces of these people on the Nigerian Naira currency. The 5 Naira word, for instance, has the face of Tafawa Balewa, who become answerable for the corrupt regulations, mismanagement of price range and the rigged federal elections of 1964. The Twenty naira notice also has the face of Murtala Muhammad, whose Movement brought about the following coups and illegitimate counter-coups in Nigeria. For that reason, plunging Nigeria into numerous many years of navy dictatorship. The one hundred naira notice also has the face of Obafemi Awolowo, who became power-thirsty or even have become the minister of finance in Widespread Gowon’s regime. How might someone who ushered in democratic concepts in Nigeria, turn out to be a minister of finance in a completely undemocratic regime? That suggests how plenty he wanted to be in electricity. Furthermore, the two hundred nairas observe has the face of sir Ahmadu Bello, a Sarduana of Sokoto, who became the oppressor of the middle belt area in the first republic. Finally, the Five hundred naira note has the face of Nnamdi Azikwe, whose choice to just accept and approve the end result of the 1964 rigged election, contributed to the political tragedy of the first republic.
My point is, even though These knowledgeable elites made some superb achievements, their evil deeds, However, out weights their properly deeds. it is pretty ironic that the same people who had been responsible for the disintegrate of the Nigerian Children Motion had been additionally answerable for the disintegrate of the primary Republic. It indicates the quantity of which Those nationalists suffered an ethnicity syndrome. Their moves and judgments had been inspired via ethnicity. Hence, we can say all of them had an ethnicity syndrome. “The identical humans whom all of us reward, are the identical human beings chargeable for the woes of Nigeria nowadays”(Elmore Babatunde Bashir). the primary republic in Nigeria turned into a clear indication that her educated elites, who ushered in democracy, were not what they seem to paint. all of them had an ethnicity syndrome. This becomes the purpose why the modern coup of Majors Kaduna Nzeogwu, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, and Adewale Ademoyega, turned into achieved, though they were not a hit.
In all, the foundation-motive of corruption in Nigeria is ethnicity. Being beneath the have an impact on of an ethnicity syndrome, Nigeria’s political Nationalist had been liable for the corrupt practices that have persisted to dug Nigeria until date. Consequently, if political improvement ought to be attained and corruption should be reduced, Nigerian politicians must be oriented now not to fall prey to ethnicity syndrome.

If there is anything that the people of Enugu State, both residents and indigenes, know of Governor Ugwuanyi, it is that his heart is as peaceful and peace-loving as the heart of a dove. It would thus be satanic and unimaginable for the lover of the Hausa community to be portrayed as their enemy. There is always a very grave danger…
