I did these doodles wile trying to figure out my ideas for the designs/dynamics between the kiddads! I wanted to have everyone in the driver’s seat, passenger’s seat, and back of the odyssey all at least once and use this to both explore their dynamic and also how i thought they’d wind up.

I did end up defining some parts of their designs, like I started giving Grant curlier hair and glasses as I went on, but this was mostly a personality thing and I’m still trying to decide if I want to flesh these out more <3 I’m still very new to the fandom, so LMK if you think my interpretations fit the characters or vice-versa!

thinking about how both Nicky and Jodie might feel immense grief for the people who were in the Glenn timeline because Nicholas isn’t Nick and Jodie isn’t Zhao Dae

they both remember the memories they had but they were forced onto them all at once. With the added on thing that Jodie and Zhao Dae being two separate entities. The faerun court seeing Zhao as unworthy of redemption and used to punish someone else.

both Nick and Zhao are gone. And both Nicky and Jodie having to deal with that knowledge of who they were and having to deal with them being puppets to punish one guy.

He would be the worst. without a doubt.

Homeboy is so fucking self aware. He knows he’s traumatized. He knows he has PTSD. he knows why he’s acting the way he is and he knows it’s justified he doesn’t NEED someone to explain to him why his brain is working the way it is.

He goes to therapy because he knows it’s “important” and “can help” but he only really talks about day to day shit going on in his life.

He doesn’t dig into the “deep shit” cause he’s already psychoanalyzed himself to the point of no return

He’s good at talking to his friends BECAUSE he’s good at psychology. He’s good at connecting behaviors to emotions, emotions to experiences and so on. he never addresses the problem because he thinks knowing the root of the problem is the same as fixing it

Having thoughts about Nick and Cass. Like, they split up because he had to be in Hell a decent amount of the time, working to avoid the FBI and such, and that's a very valid reason to end a marriage, but I wonder if that fed into Nick's belief that if he couldn't be in Taylor's life perfectly, then he shouldn't be in it at all. After all, Cassandra didn't want him around in his imperfect state (note: this is speculation on his own internal monologue, because it's possible Cass would have been chill with him swinging by every now and then, after all she says she misses him every day back in ep.1) so why on earth would Taylor want him in his imperfect state? (I imagine that Sparrow would use his "Wives and sons are different" line here).

-sometimes when tensions are high, he slips into switching between his multiple ‘personalities’ from his other timelines— especially narcolas and nick close

-hater of all things christmas im being so fr. like he loves it cuz of his dad but also like. its so annoying to be around christmas 24/7 that if you’re a caroler you’re instantly going to heaven cuz nicky doesn’t wanna fuckin deal with that

-however his favorite holiday is Chinese new year— it reminds him of the foster timeline and how jodie and him would celebrate it with morgan.

-phantom pains in the arms— like he constantly tries to catch shit but always fails because. … arm… catches with wrong arm usually

-is very proud of taylor for finding 3 husbands and a wife, despite the fact that they did it just to escape space. he genuinely thinks taylor will grow up and keep his spouses— eventually fall in love with most of them (hopefully not his uncle hermie though) . hes a swiftli truther sorry babes.

-when younger and dealing with the alternate timelines, he used to shut himself in his room for days and not be able to look in mirrors. all the mirror in his childhood bedroom are broken due to this, and he had to be moved out of it due to the distress it brought him.

now that we’re all fucking BROKEN from that last episode, have a happy one when Grant moved into his first apartment, darryl was a little freaked. Grant was his kid yknow. Any parent would be anxious. For Darryl, it meant not being able to hear when Grant woke up screaming from a nightmare. Not being able to sit with him late at night when neither of them could sleep. Not being able to cook massive breakfasts for grant so he could carbo load before a soccer game. And Darryl trying to be better, talked to the dads (and his therapist about it), and came up with a plan. So when Grant went down to finish filling out all the paperwork, Darryl hid a present in the kitchen. In the following days, Grant would find a multitude of charleston chews hidden EVERYWHERE around the apartment. Some had notes attached to them like "henry says affirmations work so...you've got this!" or "call me when you find this, I wanna hear how your day has been". Just little things that guarantee that they'll stay in contact. Darryl hides more every time he comes over. They always make Grant smile, and sometimes, he'll pretend to find a charleston chew just to have an excuse to talk to his good ol' dad
