I decided that today is the day I learn Node.js, and by that I mean start watching a tutorial playlist on it. The videos that I'm watching are by the same guy whose videos on React I've been using to learn it, and he explains things nice and slowly, but also to the point. He also tells us why this technology is used so we get a better and deeper understanding of the tools we're using. Can't recommend him enough. Because of that, no real coding was done on my part aside from writing the traditional "hello world", but it still counts so I'm still writing this log entry (plus I wanted to share the videos/his channel).

Horoscope Generator - Log #1
Today I decided I wanted to see if I can get Node.js and React hooked up and working together so I created a little program that collects a daily phrase from a Horoscope Generator API (using Node) and displays it (using React), and I think I did it! It was a little confusing and I can't say I 100% understand it, but honestly that's all I need for today. Next up I plan on letting the user enter their star sign and passing it from the frontend to the backend to get the daily horoscope for that sign. I also looked into how to host a full-stack app, and found a hosting service called Render that offers some free service, so I'll fiddle around with it. Anyways, here's a quick WIP shot of the web app so far.
