Hi! Do you have tips on describing architecture? (Art nouveau style in particular)
Writing Notes: Art Nouveau Architecture
Art Nouveau - (French for ‘new art’) style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States.
It is characterized by its use of a long, sinuous, organic line and was employed most often in architecture, interior design, jewelry and glass design, posters, and illustration.
It was a deliberate attempt to create a new style, free of the imitative historicism that dominated much of 19th-century art and design.
About this time, the term Art Nouveau was coined in Belgium by the periodical L’Art Moderne to describe the work of the artist group Les Vingt and in Paris by S. Bing (byname of Siegfried Bing), who named his gallery L’Art Nouveau. The style was called:
Jugendstil in Germany,
Sezessionstil in Austria,
Stile Floreale (or Stile Liberty) in Italy, and
Modernismo (or Modernista) in Spain.
The distinguishing characteristic of Art Nouveau is its undulating asymmetrical line, often taking the form of:
flower stalks and buds,
vine tendrils,
insect wings, and
other delicate and sinuous natural objects;
the line may be elegant and graceful or infused with a powerfully rhythmic and whiplike force.
Characteristics of Art Nouveau
Here are a few examples of the characteristics of Art Nouveau work in the visual arts, decorative arts, and architecture.
Natural shapes: Art Nouveau work is full of biomorphic shapes—or non-geometric, organic forms—that resemble flowers, insects, and other elements of the natural world.
Ornamental lines: Art Nouveau artworks—like the Paris Metro signs—frequently incorporate curvy, sinuous lines that mimic the swirling forms of plants or stems.
Flat, decorative patterns: In paintings and graphic arts, Art Nouveau artists tended to emphasize the flatness of the medium by creating small, densely packed patterns, like William Morris’s fabrics and wallpaper patterns, and the gilded motifs in Gustav Klimt’s paintings.
Byzantine influences: Artists like Gustav Klimt, with his mosaic-like gilded paintings, and Alphonse Mucha, who often painted the subjects of his paintings like Byzantine queens, drew influence from the ornate, embellished style of Byzantine art. Decorative artist Louis Comfort Tiffany presented his first Tiffany lamps in a Byzantine-influenced chapel at the World’s Colombian Exhibition in Chicago.
IN ARCHITECTURE and the other plastic arts, the whole of the three-dimensional form becomes engulfed in the organic, linear rhythm, creating a fusion between structure and ornament. Architecture particularly shows this synthesis of ornament and structure; a liberal combination of materials—ironwork, glass, ceramic, and brickwork—was employed, for example, in the creation of unified interiors in which columns and beams became thick vines with spreading tendrils and windows became both openings for light and air and membranous outgrowths of the organic whole. This approach was directly opposed to the traditional architectural values of reason and clarity of structure.
PUBLICATIONS such as The Grammar of Ornament (1856) by British architect and theorist Owen Jones (1809–1874), advocated nature as the primary source of inspiration for a generation of artists seeking to break away from past styles. The unfolding of Art Nouveau’s flowing line may be understood as a metaphor for the freedom and release sought by its practitioners and admirers from the weight of artistic tradition and critical expectations.
AFTER 1910, Art Nouveau appeared old-fashioned and limited and was generally abandoned as a distinct decorative style. In the 1960s, however, the style was rehabilitated, in part, by major exhibitions organized at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (1959) and at the Musée National d’Art Moderne (1960), as well as by a large-scale retrospective on Beardsley held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 1966. The exhibitions elevated the status of the movement, which had often been viewed by critics as a passing trend, to the level of other major Modern art movements of the late 19th century. Currents of the movement were then revitalized in Pop and Op art. In the popular domain, the flowery organic lines of Art Nouveau were revived as a new psychedelic style in fashion and in the typography used on rock and pop album covers and in commercial advertising.
Examples of Art Nouveau Style in Architecture
Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí: In 1883, Antoni Gaudí took over the construction of Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia basilica when architect Francisco de Paula del Villar y Lorzano resigned from the job. Though the project is still not completely finished, you can see Gaudí’s influence in the cathedral’s facade, accented with naturalistic moldings that almost look like they’re melting.
The Old England Building, Brussels, Belgium: Designed by architect Paul Saintenoy, the Old England building was constructed in 1899 and is considered one of Brussels’s Art Nouveau gems. The former department store now houses the Museum of Musical Instruments. Fittingly, the exterior is adorned with multiple panels showing musical phrases, as well as the standard Art Nouveau touches such as a floral motif and swirling iron details.
Casa Fenoglio-Lafleur, Turin, Italy: It was designed by architect Pietro Fenoglio in 1902 and it became his private residence. Fenoglio’s “home studio” was created to be an aesthetic model of the Art Nouveau style. Its most prominent features are the polychrome glass and intricate wrought iron bow windows, and a sinuous overhang above the terrace. The building’s history is rich; soon after the building was finished, the architect and his family left the house and sold it to a French businessman named Lafleur. He lived there until his death and it was passed on to La Benefica, an orphanage and charity in Turin. It survived bombing during World War II but then went into a state of disrepair. In the 1990s it was sold to a private client who restored it carefully to its original splendor and now it is home to private residences and some office space.
Majolikahaus, Vienna, Austria: Architect Otto Wagner was a key figure in the reinvention of Vienna at the turn of the 20th century. One of his most beloved works is the Majolikahaus apartment building, which was completed in 1898 and is decorated with a vibrant floral motif. The façade is comprised entirely of ceramic tiles known as majolica.
Casa Batlló, Barcelona, Spain: Gaudí brought his exuberant take on Art Nouveau to Barcelona, creating many of the city’s architectural landmarks. Casa Batlló, situated on the Passeig de Gràcia, is one of his best-known works and features allusions to the legend of St. George and the dragon. Its exterior is sheathed in colorful pieces of broken ceramics, while the roof is covered in scalelike tiles.

This body has won. This body made it further than any in the past, succeeding at last at the task received. Does the player escape this world? Does the player win anything of value? Perhaps. If It deems it so. This body will be disposed of, a new one forged of stars and light, the elements—fire, earth, water, and air—and the moon and darkness. Like the others, it will be placed in a new world; like the others, it will be slashed, destroyed, torn, torn, bruised, battered, and burned. It will kill and be killed, or maybe, like this old body, it will win.
or, the tale of manhunt and its torture, recreation, and meaning told through a snippet of the minecraft end poem.

the last episode in review for inanimate insanity EVER!!!!
as always, SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 18 OF INANIMATE INSANITY SEASON TWO!!!!!
holy shmowzow
this was a fantastic episode, such a fun and satisfying way to end everything off yknow
let’s get into it!!!!
this first segment was heartbreaking.
seeing mephone reflect on everything he’s done and seeing the consequences of his actions was such an incredibly crafted sequence. his disassociation, his distance from what’s happening, it really shows how traumatic all this is for him. mephone has lost everyone he has ever loved, and he’s stuck with a man who has done nothing but demean and hurt him. he feels hopeless, and the song in this segment also gorgeously captures that.
his slow walk to the cliff edge, looking over everything he’s lost, only for cobs to pull him away? amazing, mephone’s not really there because there’s nothing to be there for, and cobs is trying to pull him back into reality.
this idea of like a cloud in mephone after everyone was deleted was so interesting, like i get it was forshadowed and all but its so cool that its so non-linear too
anyway, BOX?? i’ll be real, i was always a box hater, and i’m glad to know that alive box is too. she’s actually such a cool character though and i totally love her. her and suitcase both having experiences with drowning was so interesting too, like okay i see you brown retangular characters who were somewhat meek but grew from that and also have had bad experienced with water.
also, ahem ahem, new suitcase ship?
also, just because i understand that tumblr has a photo limit, seeing mephone stand up to cobs by warning the prime shimmer was wonderful. he’s finally taking action to amend what he’d done. granted, it didn’t really work out, but what matters is that he tried right?
i am so glad they canonically met
they’re two characters that have grown from their anger filled behaviour and (ultimately) end up making a sacrifice for the people they love. they’re also just violent idiots at some points, and i think that’s really great for them.
also, KNICKLE CRUMBS, 4s comforting knife after he expresses his upsetness about pickle ough my heart.
now all of the hug scenes were very cute but WHAT.
this felt like a 35 minute payjay makeout scene because i was not expecting this. salt’s total freakout was hilarious too, alongside pepper’s awkward congratulations, though i can tell salt will NOT be coping well with the realisation of the guy she’s pining over being gay.
also, i’m not adding the photo for this one, but the starfruit and guava drama went crazy i loved it
WAAAAAH
this was an incredible scene for mepad, because it really emphasises his core values. its clear that he adores the contestants, his actions since he’s arrived have made that very clear. but he’s also incredibly selfless, you have to be to make a sacrifice like that. he’s always seen potential in every character, and i think people forget that sometimes. he dislikes mephone because mephone doesn’t acknowledge the contestants’ efforts, and that he withholds information from them for his own benefit. he’s just such an incredible character
also, i’m honestly not all that surprised that the genocidal business ceo pulled out a branded knife to stab his creation, thats all i wanted to say.
this is such a pivotal moment for knife.
it’s representative of his atonement for what he’s done wrong as a whole. he sacrificed his safety for someone who despised him due to what heMd done in the past. he was the type not to tolerate these kinds of people, and its just wonderful seeing him overcome such things and move forth yknow
this was hilarious actually, also offering it up to mephone was insane
knickle crumbs,,,,,,,,, i love them so much
also knife becoming a ghost was hilarious to me because i’m currently writing a fic about PICKLE being a ghost but oh well new au i guess??
DO YOU SEE THESE LOOKS OK like you’re in love with him little buddy
also taco being petty about pickle’s forgiveness for mephone shows that she still has a really long way to go in terms of genuinely apologising, and i really hope she gets there eventually yknow
this was overall a really sweet ending for a fantastic show, and i am so happy it ended the way it did. sure it was a little silly at points, but inanimate insanity always has been. a bug musical number featuring all the songs from episodes past just felt like the perfect way to finish up a show like this.
as someone who’s been watching this show since 2015, this ending meant a lot to me, because its an ending to a big part of my life as well (to a degree, i will not be ceasing posting). and i feel like this episode beautifully shows that yes the future’s unpredictable and unknown, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep going anyway. build your own future yknow!!
but yeah, this was fantastic, and words cannot express how grateful i am for inanimate insanity as a whole. thank you animation epic, for everything.

people will say, “no one has media literacy” and it does get to be just this buzzword but it’s true, people genuinely have no care for intent when it comes to creation of art, its why we get the “i could create this art” at galleries and why people are baffled by filmmaking that isn’t straight forward, linear, non-surrealist or absurdist or ANYTHING other than very black and white storytelling. everything is so face value and everyone is so terminally bored, it’s mad. enjoy the fucking journey of the film, enjoy the exposition and the set up and TRY to understand why you’re being shown this. the ability to study art and literature on any level should be something we all care about because you all sound SO stupid!!!

The inevitable M&A question came toward the end of Paramount Global‘s hourlong conference call with Wall Street analysts on Wednesday — a session that undoubtedly would have been more contentious for Paramount leaders if they hadn’t started out by serving up sacrifices for the greater good of free cash flow and profit.
Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish waved off the inquiry from Bank of America Merrill Lynch media analyst Jessica Reif Ehrlich about the tidal wave of media speculation about suitors coming (and going) for the company with a breezy “We’re always looking for ways to create shareholder value.” But it was clear from the earlier commentary and business updates from Bakish and chief financial officer Naveen Chopra that they are charting a course for this year and next to take streamer Paramount+ to the promised land of profitability and keeps the company entact as a standalone entity.
Indeed, Bakish nodded in his prepared remarks to the endless chatter on the Street and in media about Paramount’s long-term fate. “Regardless of current market sentiment, we’re convinced that the value of our assets today, combined with the execution of our strategy as we move forward represents a significant value creation opportunity, and we are dedicated to unlocking that value,” Bakish said.
The unlocking process will include a $1 billion write-down to be taken in the current quarter. Bakish and Chopra promised Wall Streeters that the company will spend less to make and market movies and TV shows and they will get more bang for those bucks with more aggressive windowing of streaming content across linear assets and vice versa. Moves forced by necessity during the programming drought of last year’s strike months — “Yellowstone” reruns airing on CBS, for one — are helping to guide its future. Most of the write-down ($700 million to $900 million) will stem from existing TV shows and movies that will be yanked from Paramount’s various digital and linear platforms and development projects that will be scrapped.
After recording a $1.6 billion loss on streaming operations in 2023, Paramount+ will reach profitability in the U.S. in 2025, Bakish vowed. Paramount Global will deliver free cash flow and growth in the second half of ths year, Chopra added.
Bakish emphasized that the company will also significantly cut back its efforts to produce local-language content in overseas markets. Instead the company will focus on generating hot prospects at home that have global resonance.
“Internationally, it’s become unquestionably clear that Hollywood hits are the biggest draw for our audiences and partners around the world,” Bakish said. “Which means there’s a clear opportunity to lean into our CBS slate, Paramount+ originals and Paramount films while slowing spend on local content and associated marketing.”
Chopra said the decision was influenced by analysis of what most non-U.S. subscribers watch on the streamer. “We’ve learned the Paramount+ subscribers outside the United States spend nearly 90% of their time with our global Hollywood hits — meaning we can keep them engaged while right-sizing our investment in content that does not travel around the world,” he said.
However, in the hunt for what the executives called “efficiencies,” Paramount will look to produce more TV programs and films overseas, where the cost of everything from hiring extras to an espresso at Starbucks is lower than in Los Angeles or New York.
“You will see us leaning even further into offshore production for our global franchises, including the upcoming London installment of ‘Billions,’ the new ‘Ray Donovan’ origin story as well as new series like ‘The Department’ from George Clooney,” Bakish said of three series on deck for Paramount+ with Showtime.
On the film side, Bakish pointed to Paramount Pictures’ success so far this year with modestly budgeted theatrical films “Mean Girls” and “Bob Marley: One Love,” the biopic that has lead the U.S. box office for the past two weekends. “We’re improving ROI by lowering the average cost per title,” Bakish said, noting the film studio’s refined focus on “balancing high-budget tentpoles with more modest cost titles.”
Paramount Global spent about $16.5 billion on content in 2023, a number that was lower than 2022’s content bill because of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Chopra said. He expects that 2024 spending will be higher but not by too much. “We contemplate spending really only about 50% of what we’ll call the strike savings. That’s a critical ingredient in our ability to drive healthy growth in free cash flow,” Chopra said.
Other topics addressed on the call:
The Disney/Warner Bros. Discovery/Fox streaming sports venture announced earlier this month has been a de rigueur question for CEOs during the Q4 earnings reporting cycle. Bakish is not impressed with the offering that is rumored to be priced at $40 to $50 a month. “For a true sports fan, this package only has a subset of sports,” he said. “It’s missing half the NFL, a lot of college [events] and has virtually no soccer or golf. So it’s hard to believe that’s ideal, especially at the price points that have been speculated.”
Speaking of game theory, sports is an important subscriber funnel for Paramount+, which offers CBS’ AFC NFL package as well as acquired rights to soccer and golf tournaments. Prospective subscribers come in for a game or two but stay for the entertainment. “For people that come in [to Paramount+] for sports, 90% of their engagement is with non-sports” content, Bakish said.
CBS has been a bright spot for the company. The network got its strike-delayed season off to a strong start with freshman drama “Tracker,” thanks in part to a big circulation boost from large crowds turning out for the Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards and the record-setting Super Bowl telecast. But the Eye is also becoming more budget-conscious when it comes to content spending. “We have an increasingly efficient and targeted development process,” Bakish said. “We prioritize lower cost formats, like unscripted and those shot abroad while maintaining our strength and franchises.” He cited the success of last year of “NCIS: Sydney,” the latest interation of the drama franchise that was shot Down Under “at a much more efficient price point.”
In 2023, Paramount+ nabbed a total of 4.1 million new subscribers. Expectations for 2024 are lower in part because Paramount+ will be detached from bundled packages in some overseas markets “where the economics just weren’t that compelling,” Chopra said. “We do still expect very healthy Paramount+ revenue growth and of course, revenue is the more important metric than subs.”

Conversations with Leviathan #7, Black Ink 2/7/23
A discussion on the symbol of Black Ink, potentiality.
I was wondering what things I should compare Leviathan to for the 30 day challenge question "Describe your God as something that occurs in nature", hoping I could draw up a list of multiple things and work then from that. He said: Black ink, singularly and definitively. I wasn't expecting it, I associate that with my ex-partner who would even go so far as to use that as a tag for... Something? Actually, isn't that weird. I don't think he ever explained what "Black Ink" was other than saying it was his blood and something huge and encompassing. It was some sort of biological function (or form) or physiological part of his that continued to arise in his symbolism. Largely I knew what I thought it was: Some sort of metaphor for his biology that involved heavy metaphors about reality, something to do with the Void, but that's really it.
Does black ink even occur in nature? No, but arguably that's the point, Leviathan and his brothers always seem to be found in things that are made whether it's electronics, tools, trains and planes, kingship, reading and writing... Nature is nature even when reworked and the idea of them being nature as consciously reworked and harnessed - yet still nature, still wild under the surface - fits very well.
Black Ink, however, is a symbol that means a lot to me in both the sense of importance and extensive symbolism. It's type of blood, blood itself being a complex metaphor underneath a complex metaphor for the fabric and life of reality, everything in existence in its various forms, black ink being one form; it's the spaces in-between and Polarised dances between paper and writing... I don't know though. There's too much in my head.
---
"Black Ink: Clockwork. Numerical values. Obsidian Mirrors. Ferrofluid.
The beginning of the Universe started with a series of boxes, characters, easily stackable and therefore easy to extrapolate into dimensional stability -"
Lying in bed I can suddenly vividly see him next to me in a non-linear way I've never experienced before - I can both see him when I'm looking and when I'm not looking at him - leaning half-propped-up on his elbow facing me. I can feel the coldness of his energy physically.
"- Repetition of things that can be repeated. More so the ticking of the clock rather than that minute bit in-between."
His energy is physically touching my skin - "Oh, sorry," he says in surprise and it retracts, but it's radiating from him in strange outward spirals of warm and cold. I feel like I'm swirling bathwater coming from hot and cold taps.
Did you want to come in? I barely get to ask before he takes over.
"This is complicated, eons of processing and notes that I could show you except no, I couldn't. This entire universe - your little physical plane - is written by the three of us in a tongue that is always speaking in black ink. Black, an enveloping of every colour, every beam of light condensed, squished, compressed, forced into linearity and logical repetitions between moment to moment. Black is physics, metaphysics, metronome beats in Creation in the way that it is the counting 1 - 2 - 3 - etc notes of a finite recorded song. Finite beats to be counted, compressed.
Your body's numb, oops. Have it back."
Well then. What are you sifting through?
"I couldn't even tell you. It's complete condensations of 3D knowledge into flattened momentary planes."
He shows me one of the flat pieces of paper he's going through mentally, and he's right, I thought it was printer paper but it's densely vibrating cubes flattened as thin as rice noodles, so not too thin. Vibrating like suns....
"Did I tell you about that? How solar bodies intensely vibrate so close to transcending the planes they're on hence that's why they're used as gates - skip this song playing. Thank you. Condense and condense and condense, first you obtain something intensely bright so that it becomes a screen through which your eyes can perceive things it wishes to extract from the light particle-waves. Then... Boom. Collapses. Black. Like how lampblack is made."
I feel like that's not how lampblack is made...
"Then you're not thinking outside or I suppose inside the box, are you. Dumb. That's a joke. Do you see how the Sun is rising?"
A faint light shines through the cracks in my curtains.
"And you could let it in if you wanted to.
Black Ink is a complex theory in and of itself. Metaphorically. Symbolically. It's the dancing letters on the tip of the scientist's tongue at the verge of understanding, it's a substance that plays with the gateway - and is the gateway - to discovery. Externalised thoughts pass through it, the future awakened soul meets its past self through it. It's Shakti and Shiva's dance specifically in the hands of the writer. It's a promise to God. Isn't that fascinating?"
I have to say -
"So say it -"
Oh. You're vivid as hell again. I can see you almost physically in my periphery... Are you wearing those glasses in bed? I'll take that laugh as a yes. Resting head in hand, a sweet smile... I was expecting so much more of a drab topic when you brought this up.
"Well... Multiple sides to everything, right? I told you what this is. It's a gateway to speaking, it's a mechanism of discovery and unity of world and thought. Personal expression. Usually Shiva dances inside Shakti's womb, but when does it come to a point where he actually extends out of it? When does he externalise? When does consciousness birth itself into something visible? We were working on that clay mobile representing me, well, explicitly I was, arts and crafts, I become physical inside your room through it, through Black Ink. It's the potency... The liquid of the womb condensed and condensed and condensed until its colour, its magnetic pull, inverts. Right? You're following?"
I'm following.
"So what is it that you're speaking?"
Well, I feel like I'm speaking my ex's things. He's the one that taught me what this energy is that I associate with the concept of Black Ink. Dark, eldritch, consuming, mirroring - you're nodding as I speak, reassuring - swallowing...
"Nothing you spit from your mouth can be his. Spit being produced by your cells... Even if your mouth swells at the sight and scent of food it is a product of your body. That's Black Ink. Nothing that comes from your body can be his. You're asserting an opinion of what he looked like in your eyes, which is a regurgitation of the endless wish that God has to be so aware of Themselves that they become Themselves... No. Sorry. You and he were separated by a for more vast ocean than you ever wanted to admit. It's a foul thing to talk about someone like (your ex) in regards to the metaphor of pregnancy but I cannot stress enough about how the union that produces results is never of you and another individual. From you, yes. Of you... No. A cell has to be split off from both of you before it can create a new life - emphasis on before. In life you see, you experience, you stitch it into your body, you gestate, you birth. Which is wrong to say by its own rules because... Experience is all that simultaneously so there is no parts to separate into different experiences. You experience a stimulus and you immediately stitch your consciousness through it.
You never took in anything that he did or said, electron repulsion gives the impression of touch as you say, you simply had an experience that was caused by the way his consciousness affected your communal reality. Even if a literal pregnancy had've come from your relationship... The placenta is a direct manifestation of the true physical union: an attempt, nothing more, but an individual is always an individual. External interaction is not internal emergence. Whatever you think of Black Ink is your own mind, your own memories, your own opinions, your own symbolism. It is not his no matter how heavily impacted by his peripheral and orbital existence around your life.
He's - or I suppose he was - a gravitational centre passing through a field, you never united with his gravity but instead just felt its effects on you. You touched the impulses in the field... Anyway. What do you see Black Ink as?"
I think I'll have to sit on it. Oh, my phone's autosuggest tells me to write 'Call me'. I'll call you
"I think you should sit on it though. Every symbol belongs to every person. Everything that arises as a connection between a conscious perception or choice and an experience lies inside the one who experiences it. The way reality connects with mind is not the way people think, you in your body are a pilot in front of a screen connected to cameras in the eyes of a robot you're piloting around; you may become absorbed in what is in front of you but you have to remember it's not really touching you, it's touching the robot, consciousness personalises everything and simulates a connection. Like how you may feel emotional pain from a film or video game character's actions but it is just lights. Lights... Lights and colours... Condensible. Edible. Consumable. Redirectable..."
-
Leviathan said: Swapped. Excellent. A free vessel. I will continue alone; you are tired and overwhelmed.
The conclusion is simple. Black Ink is the product of your - and everyone's - womb just before birth. It's the black sky through which the Earth is birthed. It's potentiality. That's it. It's used in scrying for a reason, because... It is scrying. It's the potentiality pushed to the point of nearing literalness.
What you associate with Black Ink: the eldritch, the dark, the... Whatever else, because you do need to comb through all this mess and separate your real opinions from those you were influenced to have... You associate them in the way that one associates a baby with a pregnant mother. Two very different things, actually, when you stop to think about it: A pregnancy necessitates no baby but a pre-baby, a baby is an externalised product of post-pregnancy, post-pregnancy meaning pregnancy is no more. Black Ink is nothing but the means through which things are birthed and therefore is separate from them... Yet intimately categorically connected.
Now... Why are these babies, the eldritch and the dark and the abstract, associated with Black Ink in your mind? The answer, as with everything birthed through Black Ink, will be born into both awareness and reality when you allow it to be birthed.

How feature engineering impacts model accuracy
Feature engineering plays a crucial role in improving a model’s accuracy by transforming raw data into meaningful inputs that enhance predictive power. Here’s how it impacts model accuracy:
1. Improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio
Raw data often contains noise that can mislead a model. Carefully engineered features help extract the most relevant information, improving model performance.
2. Enhances Model Interpretability
Well-crafted features can make it easier to understand how a model makes predictions, especially in decision trees, regression models, and explainable AI applications.
3. Reduces Overfitting
Selecting the right features and removing irrelevant ones prevent models from capturing random noise, making them generalize better to unseen data.
4. Handles Non-Linearity in Data
Many models (like linear regression) assume linear relationships, but real-world data often has complex patterns. Creating interaction terms, polynomial features, or using transformations (log, sqrt) can help capture these patterns.
5. Improves Convergence in Training
Scaled and normalized features allow gradient-based optimization algorithms (like in neural networks) to converge faster and more effectively.
6. Addresses Missing and Categorical Data
Encoding categorical variables, imputing missing values, and deriving new informative features from existing data (e.g., extracting the day of the week from timestamps) help the model learn effectively.
7. Boosts Model Discriminative Power
New features derived from domain knowledge, such as customer segmentation in marketing or engineered health indicators in medical data, provide additional insights for better predictions.
Examples of Feature Engineering Impact
In fraud detection, creating transaction frequency features can improve anomaly detection models.
In NLP, using TF-IDF or word embeddings enhances text classification models.
In image processing, applying edge detection or color histograms can improve object recognition.
Conclusion
Feature engineering is often the difference between an average and a highly accurate model. While automated feature selection and deep learning have reduced reliance on manual feature engineering, domain expertise and thoughtful feature creation remain essential for maximizing model accuracy.

What to Expect from Trauma-Informed Therapy in Gilbert
Trauma-informed therapy has become an essential approach for individuals seeking healing after experiencing significant emotional or psychological trauma. Whether stemming from childhood abuse, a traumatic accident, loss, or other distressing events, trauma can deeply affect one’s mental health and well-being. In Gilbert, Arizona, many counseling centers specialize in trauma-informed therapy, which is tailored to meet the unique needs of those who have been through traumatic experiences.
Understanding Trauma-Informed Therapy
Dr Karen hawk psychologist Trauma-informed therapy is an approach that recognizes and responds to the impact of trauma on an individual’s life. It is based on the understanding that trauma can affect every aspect of a person’s emotional, mental, and physical well-being. A trauma-informed therapist approaches treatment with sensitivity, aiming to create a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering space for clients to explore their experiences.
Unlike traditional therapy methods, trauma-informed therapy emphasizes the importance of understanding how trauma has shaped an individual's behaviors, thought patterns, and emotional responses. The goal is not only to address symptoms but to also heal the underlying emotional wounds caused by trauma.
Key Elements of Trauma-Informed Therapy
Safety and TrustworthinessOne of the foundational principles of trauma-informed therapy is the creation of a safe environment. Clients who have experienced trauma often struggle with feelings of distrust, fear, and vulnerability. A trauma-informed therapist works hard to establish a sense of safety through clear communication, consistency, and respect for the client’s boundaries. This trust-building process is crucial, as it helps clients feel comfortable sharing their painful experiences without fear of judgment or re-traumatization.
Empowerment and CollaborationEmpowering clients is central to trauma-informed care. In Gilbert, therapists aim to work collaboratively with clients, providing them with the tools and knowledge to regain control over their lives. The client’s voice is valued throughout the therapeutic process, and decisions are made together. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and self-efficacy, allowing individuals to feel more in charge of their healing journey.
Understanding the Impact of TraumaTrauma-informed therapists recognize that trauma affects each individual differently. In Gilbert, therapists work with clients to explore how past traumatic experiences influence their present behavior and emotions. Understanding these patterns can be an essential step in healing. Therapy may involve exploring past events, identifying emotional triggers, and learning how to break free from the patterns trauma has created.
Holistic HealingMany therapists in Gilbert take a holistic approach to trauma therapy. This means that healing is not just focused on emotional and mental health but also includes physical and spiritual well-being. In trauma-informed therapy, clients may be encouraged to explore mindfulness, relaxation techniques, yoga, or other forms of self-care to help regulate their emotions and reduce stress. The goal is to heal the whole person, not just their mind, fostering a deeper sense of balance and resilience.
Pacing and FlexibilityHealing from trauma is not a linear process. In Gilbert, trauma-informed therapists understand that it can take time, and therapy must be flexible to meet the individual’s pace. Clients may not always feel ready to discuss certain events or emotions, and trauma-informed therapists respect these limits, gently guiding clients through the process at a comfortable pace. This approach prevents clients from feeling overwhelmed or pressured.
What to Expect in Trauma-Informed Therapy Sessions
Initial Assessment and SafetyWhen beginning trauma-informed therapy in Gilbert, the therapist will likely begin with an initial assessment to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals for therapy. The goal of this assessment is to ensure that the therapist fully understands your needs and can create a treatment plan tailored to you. Expect open and empathetic listening, where the therapist validates your experiences and concerns. Safety is emphasized from the beginning, so you can feel at ease sharing your story.
A Focus on Building TrustBuilding trust is a slow process that requires consistent attention. In your first few sessions, the therapist will likely focus on establishing rapport and making sure you feel safe within the therapeutic relationship. They will create a clear framework of confidentiality and informed consent, reassuring you that your privacy will be respected. Trust-building exercises may be introduced to help you feel more comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions.
Therapeutic Techniques and ToolsIn trauma-informed therapy, a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques are used, depending on the therapist's expertise and the individual’s needs. Common methods include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns related to their trauma.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Designed to help process and reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Encourages individuals to be present in the moment and develop greater emotional regulation.
Somatic Therapy: Focuses on the connection between the body and mind, helping release trauma stored in the body.
These techniques help clients process trauma in a safe and manageable way, gradually reducing emotional pain and helping individuals feel more in control of their responses.
Building Coping SkillsIn addition to processing trauma, trauma-informed therapy in Gilbert equips clients with coping strategies for dealing with stress, anxiety, and emotional triggers. These coping skills can include grounding techniques, relaxation exercises, emotional regulation skills, and healthy self-care routines. Clients are encouraged to practice these tools between sessions to gain a greater sense of emotional stability and resilience.
Ongoing Support and EmpowermentThroughout the course of therapy, clients can expect continued support as they work through their healing process. Trauma-informed therapists in Gilbert encourage clients to recognize their own strengths and resilience, helping them develop a greater sense of self-worth and empowerment. This ongoing support helps individuals feel more confident in their ability to manage life’s challenges long after therapy has concluded.
Conclusion
Trauma-informed therapy in Gilbert offers a compassionate, holistic approach to healing from trauma. It emphasizes safety, empowerment, and a deep understanding of the individual’s unique experiences and needs. With a trauma-informed therapist by your side, you can begin to heal from the pain of the past, regain control over your emotions, and move forward with a greater sense of strength and resilience.
If you're ready to embark on your healing journey, seeking a trauma-informed therapist in Gilbert can be the first step toward building a more peaceful and fulfilling life. With the right support, you can transform your pain into a source of personal growth and strength.

"The Taharet." From the Gospel of Saint John, 1: 35-39.
If God were like the Eye of the Needle filtered the Light into the universe, this would explain the relationship between John "the interlinear" and Jesus, "God's play, His Sport."
John=698, vetach, "find the range."
Jesus= 985, טחה, tcha, "the wet range" AKA the Lamb.
So Jesus and John go together in every way. What an amazing discovery! Now all we need to do is understand quite a lot more as to why the most powerful being in creation is identified with a lamb of all things.
The literature says the Jewish People is compared to a sheep because of all the virtues that a lamb possesses. The sheep's only protection is the shepherd and we Jews also rely solely on the Shepherd of Israel, the Almighty. Whenever a Jew is smitten, the whole Jewish people feel it. As sheep cling to each other, so do the Jews.
The Paschal Lamb is the end of all threats to life on earth starting with threats to the Jewish people, the inadvertent cause of all human sacrifices made on this earth.
Jesus was not formulated by the Most High to bring salvation to the Gentile, but the opposite. Every man, woman, and child that thirsts for freedom, peace, recovery, and lightness of being is Jewish. Their opponents, impure spirits, are Gentiles. We must engage in a minor and temporary episode in human history where we put those in the way of the freedom and happiness of any man in the way of harm and free those that wish to be Jewish forever. This is the full and accurate meaning behind why Jesus is called the Lamb. There must be one last time...we will kill everyone who bothers us and be done with it. Fortunately, all of them have engaged in terrorist activity and this will make this easy. A few loving words from the US Secretary of State will do the trick.
The Gospel says persons who are in love with this idea will follow Jesus to victory. This is the only way to turn things around, what is called Olam Ha Ba in Hebrew, a necessary factor for the onset of the Mashiach, an everlasting era of global freedom and prosperity:
John’s Disciples Follow Jesus
35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
The Values in Gematria are:
v. 35-36: The next day, John was there again. John is not going to go away. We are always going to want to think and act like life has meaning. The Presence of Jesus established an important premise-that it was worth it to try against all obstacles.
The Number is 9599, טהטט, taharet, "pure."
Ritually pure persons who have completed the Torah are not subject to slavery or slavers, not habits or delusions or false ideals. This they know very well. And one other thing...when I read the Haggadah and discovered the planet earth was going to let the Russians and Ukrainians fight to the death, I decided to find and kill the persons who are responsible. I need help doing it.
v. 37-38: Two disciples heard and followed Jesus. We know these were Simon and Andrew whom the Gospel of Mark says were gay. Jesus asked them what they wanted.
The Number is 12783, גיבזח , gibzah giselle, they wanted to be kidnapped, they wanted emancipation.
v. 39: They spent the day with him, till four in the afternoon. Torah Time is non specific due to the fact the progression is stochastic rather than linear. So two in the afternoon does not precede three, nor does four in the afternoon follow three. Observe:
Three in the Afternoon: The Number is 732, זגב, zegbe, "the Exaltation."
Four In the Afternoon: The Number is 870, חע, heh, The adjective חיה (hayeh), meaning lively or having the vigor of life.
Five in the Afternoon: The Number is 1254, יבהד, the ivad, "in the court of law."

The Arrival of the Mashiach. Only the Mashiach can respond to the cries of the poor and oppressed all around the world, for whatever reason, no matter the place or the tyrant all at once. His arrival will be cause for man to praise God.
Mashiach, as is known,2 is the all-embracing yechidah of the Jewish people. [For, unique among the five levels of every soul, the yechidah within a soul is its sublime and innermost essence. To consider these five levels in ascending order:] King David was the all-embracing nefesh of the Jewish people; the Prophet Eliyahu was the ruach; Moshe Rabbeinu was the neshamah; Adam was the chayah; and the yechidah will be bestowed upon Mashiach.
At the same time, within every Jew there is a spark of the soul of Mashiach.3 This spark is the yechidah within him, which is a spark of the comprehensive yechidah.
Likkutei Sichos, Vol. XX, p. 522
Utter Humility (i)
Mashiach will be distinguished by extreme humility. Though he will be exceedingly exalted, and though he will study Torah together with the Patriarchs and with Moshe Rabbeinu,4 he will be utterly humble and self-effacing and will teach simple folk, too.
This explains why Mashiach is known by the name of King David, as in the prophecy concerning the End of Days,5 “And My servant David will be king over them.” For David was so exceedingly humble and self-effacing, that though he was a king he referred to himself as6 “poor and needy.”
Sefer HaMaamarim 5699 [1939], p. 194
Utter Humility (ii)
The Talmudic Sages7 speak of two possible ways in which Mashiach can come: (a) עם ענני שמיא — “with the clouds of heaven”;8 (b) עני ורוכב על חמור — as “a poor man riding on a donkey.”9
It may be suggested that these are not mutually-exclusive alternatives. Rather, Mashiach will be both powerfully exalted (“on the clouds of heaven”) and humbly self-effacing (“a poor man riding on a donkey”).
From a talk of the Rebbe on Shabbos Parshas Kedoshim, 5744 [1984]
Utter Humility (iii)
The Midrash teaches,10 “The donkey represents the King Mashiach; as it is written,9 ‘a poor man riding on a donkey.’ ”
This teaching unites two polar opposites — “the King Mashiach,” representing sovereign power, and “a poor man riding on a donkey,” representing self-effacing humility.
Sefer HaSichos 5749 [1989], Vol. I, p. 109
More Exalted than Moshe (i)
The sovereignty of Mashiach will be more elevated than that of Moshe Rabbeinu. For the Gemara teaches11 that Mashiach will “judge by his sense of smell,” whereas a king is permitted to judge only according to the testimony of witnesses. (The concept of “judging by the sense of smell” applies to Mashiach in his capacity as king, not in his capacity as prophet, for a prophet may not judge.)
The above observation throws light on the two views cited by the Sages12 on the verse,13 “Behold My servant will prosper; he shall be uplifted and exalted, and held very high.” According to one view, Mashiach will be “more exalted than Yitzchak”; according to the other view, Mashiach will be “more exalted than Moshe.” The first view speaks of his gift of prophecy, and in this he will not be greater than Moshe;14 the second view speaks of his sovereignty, and in this he will be greater even than Moshe Rabbeinu.
Igros Kodesh (Letters) of the Rebbe, Vol. IV, p. 181
More Exalted than Moshe (ii)
Mashiach has a certain superiority even over Moshe Rabbeinu. On the phrase at the beginning of the Torah,15 “and the spirit of G‑d hovered...,” the Sages teach,16 “This alludes to the spirit of the King Mashiach.” That verse continues, “...over the surface of the waters”; this intimates a level higher than that of Moshe, who was so called17 “because from the water I drew him.”
And that is why this exile is so prolonged — in order that this lofty state be finally attained.
The Maamarim of the Alter Rebbe on the Parshiyos, p. 237
More Exalted than Moshe (iii)
A tradition handed down in manuscript18 recounts that the Tzemach Tzedek once delivered a maamar which implied that Moshe Rabbeinu was loftier than Mashiach. He was distressed by this, and fell asleep.
The Alter Rebbe then appeared to him in a dream and said: “Moshe Rabbeinu has a unique distinction and so too does Mashiach. Moshe was a physician with practical experience, and that is why the practical mitzvos were given through him; Mashiach is not a physician with practical experience, and that is why he will reveal the pnimiyus, the innermost dimension, of the Torah.”
From a talk of the Rebbe on the Last Day of Pesach, 5711 [1951]
Mentor and King
Mashiach is referred to as both a mentor and a king.
He is called a mentor, because in his spirit of wisdom and understanding he will teach all of Israel the reasons hidden within the Torah; he will teach the hidden wisdom known as chochmah stumah.
He is called a king, because there will remain within him an unseen transcendence over all the souls of Israel; and since their understanding will be unable to accommodate this superrational aspect of his, his directives will resemble royal decrees.
The latter explanation of the role of Mashiach throws light on the Talmudic teaching20 that Mashiach will come unexpectedly, when the Jewish people’s mind is momentarily diverted from his coming. Taken literally, the original phrase בהיסח הדעת means something like “in the absence of understanding,” implying that the fundamental sovereignty of Mashiach transcends understanding.
The Maamarim of the Alter Rebbe on the Nevi’im, p. 4
Of the Seed of David and Solomon
The Rambam writes that the King Mashiach is descended21 “from the House of David and from the seed of Solomon.”
The former phrase is to be expected, since royalty in Israel stems primarily from the House of David. But what is to be learned from the latter phrase?
An answer that could be suggested lies in the contrast between the war-scarred times of King David, (as G‑d tells him,22 “You have shed blood abundantly,”) and the peaceful reign of Solomon, which in fact gave him his name.23 This reign was a foretaste of the perfect peace of the Days of Mashiach.
This could be explained by the perfect wisdom of Solomon, for24 “the wisdom of Solomon (‘the wisest of men’) surpassed all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.” By virtue of his towering wisdom,25 “all the sages of the nations stood as if nullified before it, and not by means of war”; indeed, the nations of the world brought him sparks of holiness [that had been scattered and hidden throughout the world]. (An example is the visit of the Queen of Sheba,26 as explained in Chassidus.) This state was a foretaste of the perfect peace of the future time, when27 “they shall not hurt nor destroy..., for the world will be filled with the knowledge of G‑d....”
This is related to the state of perfect sovereignty, as in the time of Solomon, who28 “sat on the throne of G‑d” in tranquillity and peace, in contrast to the sovereignty of David, which suffered provocations and challenges.
We can now understand the point of the added phrase quoted above, “...and from the seed of Solomon.” The unique standing of Mashiach will relate both to the distinctive characteristic of David, i.e., sovereignty, and to the distinctive characteristic of Solomon, i.e., peace. For the sovereignty of Mashiach will be so complete, including the attribute of wisdom that characterizes perfect sovereignty, that he will be wiser than Solomon.28 Of him it is likewise written,29 “The spirit of...wisdom and understanding shall rest upon him,” and he will teach the innermost, mystical dimension of the Torah to the entire Jewish people.
From a talk of the Rebbe on Shabbos Parshas Emor, 5751 [1991]
Teaching the Innermost Dimension of the Torah (i)
Mashiach will teach all of Israel the mystical depths of the Torah and the reasons hidden within the Torah which will be revealed in the future time. This is alluded to in the verse,30 “He kisses me with the kisses of His mouth,” on which Rashi writes, “There is a promise from G‑d that He will again appear to [the Jewish people] to explain them its secret reasons and hidden mysteries.”
This cannot mean that at the time of that Divine revelation Mashiach will teach the revealed levels of the Torah, for the Resurrection of the Dead will revive Moshe Rabbeinu and all the mighty sages of the generations — and they already know the Torah. It is thus clear that the level of the Torah that will be studied at that time is its pnimiyus, its innermost and mystical dimension, which is more extensive that the whole world, and which embodies endless ascents.
Likkutei Torah, Tzav, p. 17a
Teaching the Innermost Dimension of the Torah (ii)
Moshe Rabbeinu’s apprehension of Divinity was at the coveted level called vision, as is hinted at in the verse,31 וירא ראשית לו (lit., “He saw the first for himself”). Moreover, he desired to make this level of apprehension accessible to the Jewish people, as it is written,32 אעברה נא ואראה את הארץ. (On the straightforward level of pshat, this phrase means, “Let me go over, and see the land.” As expounded in Chassidus on the mystical level of pnimiyus, these words intimate Moshe Rabbeinu’s request to make the direct level of apprehension called vision available to the entire House of Israel, who are known as33 ארץ חפץ — “the Land of [G‑d’s] Desire.”) His wish was not granted; as he continues in his parting address a few verses later,34 “And now, Israel, listen to the statutes...,” implying an inferior and less direct mode of apprehension.
In time to come, however, Mashiach will reveal direct visual perception to all the souls of Israel; in the words of the prophecy,35 “As in the days of your exodus from Egypt, I (G‑d) will show [the people] wonders.”
The future revelation of the hidden reasons for the commandments will likewise be at the level of direct visual perception.
An instance of learning at the visual level may be seen in an experience recounted of the AriZal.36 It once happened that while visiting the Heavenly Academy37 during his sleep on the day of Shabbos, he learned wondrous insights into the episode of Balak and Bilaam. He later told his disciples that eighty years would not suffice for him to convey to them what he had learned in an hour or two. For his apprehension was at the level of vision, which transcends by far the kind of thinking that can be expressed in reason and articulated in letters.
Likkutei Torah, Tzav, p. 17b
Teaching the Innermost Dimension of the Torah (iii)
It is explained in Chassidus that Mashiach will teach the Torah to the entire people, including Moshe Rabbeinu. (This accords with the statements in the Midrash38 that Mashiach will be greater than Moshe Rabbeinu.39 )
Now, the Torah testifies that40 “There never since arose a prophet in Israel like Moshe.” In this spirit, too, the Rambam writes that Mashiach will be41 “a prophet close to Moshe Rabbeinu.” It will be noted, however, that both these quotations relate specifically to the gift of prophecy,42 not to the study of Torah. This distinction is particularly significant with reference to the innermost dimension of the Torah — its pnimiyus — which will be taught by Mashiach. For this mystical nucleus of the Torah is its innermost soul, its yechidah, which is thus the province of Mashiach, whose soul is the sublime nucleus of the souls of the entire Jewish people, their all-embracing yechidah.43
From a letter of the Rebbe published in Likkutei Sichos, Vol. XXI, p. 351
The Lofty Worth of a Simple Jew (i)
The Tzemach Tzedek once said that Mashiach will delight in the company of unscholarly, self-sacrificing Jews. A unique chamber will be set aside for them, and they will be envied by the greatest of intellectuals.
Igros Kodesh (Letters) of the Rebbe Rayatz, Vol. IV, p. 148
The Lofty Worth of a Simple Jew (ii)
When Mashiach comes, everyone will recognize the lofty worth of the hodaah (the acknowledgment of G‑d rooted in pure faith) and temimus (the artless earnestness) with which all Jews believe in G‑d and His Torah and His commandments. The study of Torah44 is basically mortal comprehension, which even at its highest level is finite. By contrast, the acknowledgment of G‑d rooted in faith is a feeling which is boundless. Mashiach will explain the ultimate superiority of temimus, of artless and earnest avodah springing from the heart.
HaYom Yom, p. 9, entry for 5 Teves
The Lofty Worth of a Simple Jew (iii)
When Mashiach comes, the simple and artless earnestness with which unscholarly Jews serve G‑d and pray and read Tehillim, will be recognized in its true worth.
Sefer HaMaamarim 5699 [1939], p. 194
Concern for Every Jew
The Midrash45 relates that when Moshe Rabbeinu noticed one day that a lamb had run away from the flock and had strayed in the wilderness, he left the flock and ran after it in order to bring it back. From this we can learn how meaningful every Jew is in the eyes of Moshe Rabbeinu, even if he is a Jew who has run away from the flock....
And since46 “the first redeemer is also the last redeemer,” it is clear that what is true of Moshe Rabbeinu is likewise true of Mashiach — every Jew, wherever he may be, is precious.
Moreover, if Moshe Rabbeinu acted in this spirit even before the Giving of the Torah, how much more so should one act in this spirit after the Giving of the Torah, for this was the time at which47 “You chose us from among all the nations.”
From a talk of the Rebbe on the Last Day of Pesach, 5743 [1983]
The First Redeemer and the Last Redeemer
As the Midrash46 teaches, משה הוא גואל ראשון, הוא גואל אחרון — “Moshe is the first redeemer and he is also last redeemer.”
This does not mean that Moshe Rabbeinu himself will be the “final redeemer,” because he belongs to the tribe of Levi, while Mashiach is of the tribe of Judah (being descended from the royal House of David). The meaning, rather, is that Mashiach will come by virtue of Moshe. For the capability to redeem the people of Israel derives from the Torah, which is48 תורת משה — “the Torah of Moshe,” just as it is by means of the Torah that Israel is able to bring about the Redemption.
This integral connection between Mashiach and Moshe is also hinted at on the level of gematria. The letters of יבא שילה (meaning “Shiloh shall come,” a phrase which alludes to Mashiach49 ) are numerically equal to the letters of משיח (Mashiach), while the letters of שליה are numerically equal to the letters of משה (Moshe).50 For the two words יבא שילה (“Shiloh shall come”) refer to the revelation and actual coming of Mashiach; they therefore equal משיח (Mashiach). The name Shiloh, however, refers to him at the stage before he “shall come,” i.e., to the power [in the Torah of Moshe] which makes possible the coming of Mashiach; the letters of שילה are therefore numerically equal to the letters of משה (Moshe).
Likkutei Sichos, Vol. XI, p. 8
Moshe plus One = Mashiach
The letters of the name משה (Moshe) plus the letters of the word אחד (“One”, alluding to the all-encompassing Unity of G‑d) are numerically equal to the letters of the word משיח (Mashiach).
Sefer HaSichos 5696 [1936], p. 330
* * *
The Rebbe explains the above teaching as follows:
The coming of Mashiach will be brought about by avodah on the level of Echad (as defined below), and the power to carry out this avodah is given to us by Moshe. This is why the letters of the name משה (Moshe) plus the letters of the word אחד (referring to the avodah itself) is the gematria equivalent of משיח (Mashiach).
To clarify: The Redemption will come by virtue of our endeavors (throughout the era of exile) in refining and purifying the material world to the extent that the world itself, worldly and material as it is, becomes refined and elevated. The concept of Echad really means that even though the world has a tangible existence, it is nevertheless incorporated within its Maker in an indivisible unity. This inseparability in hinted at in the very letters of the word אחד,51 in which the daled represents the four directions of the world, the ches represents the seven heavens and the earth, and the alef represents G‑d Himself, Who is known as Alufo shel Olam (“the L‑rd of the World”).52
We were given the power to carry out this avodah — relating to the world out of an awareness of the dimension of Echad which suffuses it — at the Giving of the Torah, “the Torah of Moshe.”48 At that time it was made possible for us to transform the world itself into holiness.
Likkutei Sichos, Vol. XI, p. 9
Heating the Frozen Seas
A certain illustrious scholar once visited the Alter Rebbe and asked that he turn him into a chassid.
“That I cannot do,” replied the Alter Rebbe; “the frozen seas will be warmed up by Mashiach....”
Sefer HaSichos 5703 [1943], p. 6
Secrets within Secrets
As is widely known, there are four levels of Scriptural interpretation — pshat, remez, derush and sod. The pshat of a verse is its straightforward meaning; the remez of a verse is an allusive message which is hinted at indirectly; derush is the non-literal level of homiletical interpretation; and sod is the mystical, superrational dimension illuminated by the teachings of the Kabbalah.
The following teaching regarding these four levels has been passed down to us by the chassidim of an earlier generation in the name of the Tzemach Tzedek:
Each of the four levels of interpretation incorporates all of the other levels. Within the level of sod, for example, there is the pshat within sod, the remez within sod, the derush within sod, and the sod within sod. The pshat within sod was revealed by Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai; the remez within sod was revealed by the AriZal; the derush within sod was revealed by the Baal Shem Tov; and the sod within sod will be revealed by Mashiach.

The Fragrance of Mashiach
One day, some time after the saintly Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Horodok (formerly of Vitebsk) had settled in Eretz Yisrael, he heard a great tumult in the street. When he asked what it was all about, he was told that a Shofar blast had been heard from the top of a high mountain, and people said that this was the long-awaited Shofar of Mashiach. (In fact, as was later found out, the blast had been the doing of some crazed individual who had climbed to the top of the mountain.)
The tzaddik opened his window and said, “No, he hasn’t come; I can’t smell the fragrance of Mashiach.”
Chassidim at the time asked one another, “Why did Reb Menachem Mendel have to open the window?”
And they answered, “Because his room was always infused with the fragrance of Mashiach.”

His Name is Chayim
The Chumash with the commentary of Rabbi Chayim ben Attar entitled Or HaChayim was printed in Shklov in the year 5545 [1745] — with two typographical errors.
(a) In the passage which speaks of the sotah, a woman suspected of adultery, there is a verse that says,53 ואמרה האשה אמן אמן — “And the woman shall say, Amen, Amen.” In the course of his commentary, 54 the author of Or HaChayim cites the interpretation of the Sages55 on this dual oath — that she has not transgressed “by this man or by another man” — and concludes his paraphrase with the word מאחר (“by another”). In the above-mentioned edition, this word is replaced by the word מאשר.
(b) There is a verse which begins,56 כי יהי-ה אביון — “If there should be a needy man among you....” Expounding on the level of derush, the author of Or HaChayim relates this verse to the yearning of Mashiach to redeem Israel, and concludes with the words, משיח ה', שמו חיים — “G‑d’s anointed one: his name is Chayim.” In the above-mentioned edition, the last two Hebrew words are omitted.
These two printing errors have a history. In fact, they are connected.
As is well known, the author of Or HaChayim believed that his soul was a spark of the soul of Mashiach, and one of the allusions to this belief which he inserted in his writings is the above mention of his own name. Now the publisher of this edition was a clandestine adherent of the “Enlightenment” movement by the name of Asher. The above allusion to the coming of Mashiach ruffled the disbelief of this maskil, so, while alone in the printing house, he deleted the words, שמו חיים — “his name is Chayim.”
An old tradition recounts that the saintly author of Or HaChayim in Gan Eden sensed this at once, and decided: “Since this scoundrel has deleted my name from my book, I will insert his name there instead!”
Then and there, the letter ches in the above-quoted oath of the wayward woman was miraculously substituted by the letter shin, so that the word מאחר (“by another man”) now read מאשר...
A very short while later, a woman brought to the Rabbinical Court of Shklov on an adultery charge duly confessed: מאשר — “...by Asher!”

A Mashiach whom Everyone will Believe In
A gentile landlord once asked a chassid: “What will you do if your Mashiach comes and I won’t believe in him?”
Replied the chassid: “If you won’t believe in him, I won’t believe in him either!”
As the text says we have no choice but to believe. Our planet and all life upon it is teetering and this is not proper. Please join me in pressing the Secretary to do what has to be done, it is time for our beliefs to become practices.
The Invocation of the Gospel will continue.

FE550 TMT (Thermo-Mechanic8ally Treated) bars
FE550 TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated) bars are a type of high-strength reinforcement steel that have been increasingly used in construction and architecture due to their superior mechanical properties and durability. While traditionally used for structural reinforcement in concrete, innovative uses of FE550 TMT bars are emerging in architectural design, combining both aesthetic and functional advantages. Here are a few innovative applications of FE550 TMT bars in architecture:
1. Architectural Facades and Cladding
Aesthetic Metal Mesh Facades: FE550 TMT bars can be fabricated into intricate designs to form metal mesh or wireframe facades. The high tensile strength of FE550 allows for thinner yet stronger elements, enabling architects to create modern, lightweight facades with complex geometries.
Exposed Structural Elements: Using TMT bars as visible structural components can contribute to the aesthetic value of a building. The raw industrial look of exposed reinforcement can add to the design language, particularly in contemporary or industrial-style buildings.
2. Bridge and Overhead Structures
Bridge Cable Assemblies: FE550 TMT bars can be used for cable systems in suspension bridges or overhead structures, offering higher durability and strength for long spans. The bars can also be used as tension cables in architectural bridge design, providing both aesthetic elegance and structural integrity.
Skywalks and Elevated Pathways: Lightweight, high-strength FE550 bars can be used for creating elevated pedestrian walkways or skywalks. The bars allow for the creation of slender, graceful supports while maintaining safety and stability.
3. Pre-Engineered Modular Systems
Modular Steel Frameworks: FE550 TMT bars can be used in the fabrication of modular, prefabricated construction systems. For example, a modular steel frame made of TMT bars could be used in the construction of pre-engineered buildings, allowing for rapid assembly, disassembly, and transportation of architectural units.
Space Frames: Architects and engineers use TMT bars to create space frames that are lightweight, yet capable of supporting heavy loads. These frames can be used for large-scale roofing systems, exhibition halls, or sports arenas.
4. Sustainable Architecture
Green Building Elements: The long-term durability and recyclability of FE550 TMT bars make them an ideal material for sustainable architecture. As buildings strive for higher energy efficiency and sustainability, FE550 can be incorporated into the structural elements of energy-efficient buildings, minimizing material waste and ensuring the longevity of the structure.
Reinforced Concrete and Low-Cost Housing: FE550 TMT bars can be used to reinforce concrete structures in low-cost housing projects, ensuring that the buildings are strong, resilient, and durable. Their higher tensile strength means that less material is required for the same load-bearing capacity, making them ideal for resource-efficient construction.
5. Innovative Structural Elements
Architectural Sculptures and Installations: FE550 TMT bars can be used as reinforcement in architectural sculptures, creating artistic installations that are both structurally sound and visually striking. The flexibility of the material allows artists to design freeform structures with complex geometries, which are often challenging to achieve with traditional materials.
Non-Rectilinear Design: The flexibility of FE550 TMT bars makes it easier to create curvilinear or organic architectural forms, such as flowing roofs or undulating walls. This provides architects with more freedom in designing buildings that break away from traditional linear forms.
6. Innovative Flooring Systems
Reinforced Floor Slabs with Custom Designs: The flexibility and strength of FE550 TMT bars enable the design of reinforced concrete slabs with more complex and innovative shapes. These can be used in the design of expansive floor systems, cantilevered structures, or large open spaces without the need for numerous supporting columns.
Thin, Strong Concrete Floors: Since FE550 TMT bars allow for thinner but stronger concrete floors, architects can achieve more open spaces with fewer columns or supports, making spaces appear more fluid and connected.
7. High-Rise Buildings and Skyscrapers
Seismic Resistance: FE550 TMT bars are especially useful in regions with high seismic activity. They can be used to create reinforced concrete cores and structural frames in high-rise buildings, ensuring that the buildings are resilient to ground movement while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
Elevated Structural Frames: In skyscraper construction, the use of FE550 TMT bars in structural frames allows for the creation of lighter and more flexible steel-reinforced concrete components. This can help reduce the overall weight of a building while still providing the necessary strength and support for tall structures.
8. Temporary Structures
Event Pavilions: Temporary structures, such as pavilions or exhibition halls, can be made using FE550 TMT bars. The material's high strength allows the construction of these structures with less steel, yet they maintain a high level of durability and stability. This is particularly important for structures that need to endure stress over a short period but still maintain an elegant and temporary design.
9. Artistic Concrete and Steel Combinations
Hybrid Design Projects: Combining the use of FE550 TMT bars with concrete and other materials in architectural projects opens up new avenues for design. The bars can be integrated into artistic concrete designs to create textures, reliefs, and shapes that are not only functional but also visually stimulating.
Patterned Surfaces: FE550 TMT bars can also be used as part of the formwork for concrete casting, allowing for unique patterns and textures to be imprinted on the concrete surfaces.

The Circular Economy and Sustainable Operations
We have recently used linear production models: extract, produce, consume, and dispose. Our civilisation means that the consumption rate is increasing, which is a quick but unsustainable model for the earth. An MBA in operations management in India will teach you a concept called circular economy.
The circular economy develops more sustainable production and consumption in which raw materials are maintained longer in manufacturing cycles and may be reused, resulting in significantly less waste. As the name implies, this approach aims to keep resources in the economy for as long as possible, allowing us to use the trash we produce as raw material for other sectors.
Understanding the Circular Economy
A circular economy is designed to be sustainable and regenerative. It is centred on eliminating waste, reusing materials, and recycling things to extend their life cycles. The circular economy aims to divorce economic development from consuming finite resources while addressing global concerns such as climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
Sustainable Operations in a Circular Economy
One of the defining characteristics of a circular economy is the exploitation of waste as a resource. All biodegradable goods return to nature, whereas non-biodegradable are reused.
The second usage involves reintroducing the component in the ecosystem whose usage differs from the previous usage.
Reusing portions of the entire product may have a different value in the economic circuit.
Reparation is repairing broken product components and giving them a second life.
Valorisation refers to harnessing or creating energy from non-recyclable materials.
The functional economy seeks to replace the sale of commodities with the renting of goods to maximise the value and utility of the items. After accomplishing the primary function, the product is segregated, utilised, and recycled appropriately.
Renewable energy is used to manufacture, reuse, and recycle things.
Eco-design is design thinking that considers environmental consequences while developing a product.
Benefits of Circular Economy
Environmental protection involves lowering emissions, conserving natural resources, and reducing waste.
It can improve the local economy by promoting industrial models that reuse neighbouring garbage as raw materials.
It promotes job growth by encouraging the creation of a new, more inventive, and competitive industrial model and increasing economic growth.
The reuse of local resources can reduce reliance on imported raw materials.
The circular economy offers a path towards a sustainable future. Businesses can reduce environmental impact, enhance resource efficiency, and drive innovation. This paradigm shift requires collaboration between companies, governments, and consumers. We can create a more resilient economy. The top business school in Hyderabad will train you in this field.

Blog #4 GEE 16 Lecture Series
A Day of Learning and Innovation at Central Mindanao University
On a scorching Wednesday, the University Convention Center (UCC) at Central Mindanao University was abuzz with activity, hosting an insightful program for the GEE 16 subject, "The Entrepreneurial Mind." Despite the oppressive heat and not feeling my best, I attended the lecture series with friends, and it turned out to be both informative and enjoyable.

The event commenced at 1:30 PM with a solemn prayer and the singing of the National Anthem. An instructor’s opening remarks set the stage for our first speaker, Dr. Gamaleila Dumancas, who delivered an enlightening talk on "Intellectual Property Rights & Technology Transfer."
Intellectual Property Rights & Technology Transfer
Dr. Dumancas began by underscoring the significance of Intellectual Property (IP), likening it to land ownership. Key takeaways included:
Intellectual Property (IP): Creations of the mind, distinct from physical inventions. Protecting IP prevents competitors from copying ideas, akin to how land ownership deters trespassing.
Patent: A government-issued grant providing inventors with exclusive rights for 20 years.
Utility Model: Novel and industrially applicable solutions to technical problems.
Industrial Design: Ornamental or aesthetic aspects of products, protected for 5 years.
Trademark: Indicators of origin, such as the Google logo, protected for 10 years.
Copyright: Legal protection for original works like lectures, paintings, and maps, lasting for the creator's lifetime plus 50 years.
Dr. Dumancas highlighted the criticality of conducting prior art searches and the commercialization of IP, noting how today's wealthiest individuals have amassed fortunes through intellectual property. An engaging discussion followed on whether the 7/11 logo constitutes copyright infringement, leading to a lively open forum.
Startup Ecosystem
After the open forum, Ms. Keren Happuch Lacadin took the stage to discuss the "Startup Ecosystem." Her presentation covered essential points:
Definition of a Startup: A project with high growth potential, aimed at solving a problem with a non-obvious solution. Startups are disruptive and grow exponentially, unlike traditional businesses.
Difference Between SMEs and Startups: SMEs are market-proven with linear growth and rely on business plans. Startups are disruptive, use business model canvases, and experience exponential growth.
Startup Ecosystem: A network of people, startups, and organizations interacting to foster new companies. The pandemic accelerated the growth of online selling, showcasing the dynamic nature of startups.
Ms. Lacadin also elaborated on the Digital Startup Development and Acceleration Program (DSDAP) and stressed the importance of innovation in the Philippine startup ecosystem, which ranks 59th globally with a value of $3.05 billion.
Conclusion
The lecture series concluded with an overview of incubation programs and opportunities available for budding entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, feeling unwell, I had to leave early. Nonetheless, the sessions I attended were enriching, providing a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property rights and the startup ecosystem. Sharing the experience with friends made it even more enjoyable as we discussed the insights and ideas presented throughout the event.
Despite the intense heat, the day underscored the power of knowledge and innovation, reinforcing the importance of protecting intellectual property and nurturing a vibrant startup culture.
