okay to reiterate the question i had earlier: how "human" is morri? like i know they are obviously made to look like a human, but to what extent do they actually resemble one? and similarly..... what kind of injuries/illnesses might they face with their unique anatomy.....

hi bug!! time for a long post!!

me rambling about Morri's anatomy for several long minutes under the cut :) (it is a very very long post! you have been warned)

I'm going to separate this into two categories per your question: logistics, and exploits. Logistics will be an explanation of their actual anatomy, and exploits would be things to use against them, because we're whumpers here, and that's what we do.

First up:

Logistics

Morrigan was created by a tech company pursuing artificial intelligence as a means to an end. It's sort of a, "technology-forward" face and a "manipulate the economy" motivation. This company-not-yet-named (CNYN) has scientists working on board to perfect this technology, as well as a second board working to use the technology.

Morrigan is the first successful prototype. Not that there aren't many other scrapped designs and parts in the dumpsters behind CNYN, but Morri is the first one deemed capable in the field. They fulfill all of their requirements, from actions to efficiency. Their requirements being:

Physically able to mimic a human in all mannerisms, to go unnoticed in the public.

Logically able to manipulate a human, adopting personalities and behaviors to increase their chances of success.

Mentally able to pursue solutions effectively and with minimal loss, including assigned parameters like no casualties, maximum publicity, and the like.

And finally, able to perform all these actions with only minor glitches or malfunctions. Reliable technology.

To follow each of these requirements, the systems used to run Morrigan often mimic human anatomy. Some examples:

Cardiovascular system: Morrigan has a "pump" installed close to where a human heart would be. This pumps a liquid combination of coolant, oils, and other components necessary to keep all the systems running.

Urinary system: Because Morrigan's "blood" is a combination of several components, a system to separate these components is required. To filter out oxygen, chemicals, and waste, there is a mimicry of the human urinary tract.

Respiratory system: Oxygen is necessary for this model of android. Morrigan has a set of artificial lungs to provide for cooling and combustion. However, it's programmed to be as silent as possible--all you would hear is a slight humming, because it's difficult to mimic the human breath.

Skeletal and muscular systems: Morrigan's structure is made up of silicon and metals. Their bones are much stronger than a human's, but not infallible. Because of the complexities of human movement, Morri's skeleton and muscles are a near identical copy of a human's.

Neurological systems: One of the most precarious components to Morrigan's function is movement. Because of this, they have several installed programs to help mimic human behavior--balance, blinking, fidgeting, idle animations, the like.

Integumentary system: Morrigan has an artificial skin covering the silicon plating that protects their innermost workings. This skin has artificial hair, and several layers, as well as an identifying fingerprint leading to their alias Morrigan White.

Eyesight: Morrigan's eyes are made of glass, with pixels and cameras mixed to create their artificial eyesight. They can choose which colors present, for a more human look, but often are resting with blue irises and black sclera.

Now, with some explanation of their physical anatomy out of the way, let's move onto exploiting it.

Exploits

Coding

First of all, the most common thing to occur is a simple system malfunction. Whether it be a coding error (doubtless) or a piece of dust in the way, Morrigan's systems are not foolproof. They are designed to self-correct as best as possible. However, that is not always reliable.

Glitches like heavily mechanical wheezing, heightened temperatures, and uncanny valley esc forgetting-to-blink moments are common with these bugs. They're easy to fix, though occasionally may get out of hand. When the bugs cannot be self-soothed, it results in a failure.

System failures occur when a bug is significant enough to interfere with the rest of its systems functioning. These can only be corrected through maintenance, whether through Morrigan's own re-coding or by a technician from CNYN.

System failures can mean Morrigan shuts down. Severe overheating, pump/heart malfunctions, even buildup of waste can be significantly damaging to their prototype form. When corrected, new routes are implemented to avoid further similar complications. It's a learn-from-your-mistakes way of thinking.

Another important thing to note is behavioral glitches. If a bug interferes with a personality system, or a logistics system, Morrigan may act completely out of character.

These behavioral changes can include lashing out, forgetting who the enemy is, becoming incredibly stressed and overwhelmed, or becoming completely unresponsive. Morrigan has very little experience dealing with these bugs. Often, they require a technician.

Damage

When physical altercations occur, Morrigan is not immune from being damaged. There are three designated levels of danger, modeled after the human Triage colors.

Green: Surface level attacks, mild slashes, cosmetic damage

Morrigan is well trained in several areas of combat, but no one is perfect. Often, their skin may be punctured, revealing the eerie white plating underneath. If none of the systems besides the skin or plating are touched, it's referred to as merely cosmetic, and the maintenance is closer to a salon day than a surgery.

Yellow: Plating fractures, blood loss, limb damage

If the plating breaks, Morrigan will lose their coolant/oil solution. If they lose enough, the body will shut down, similar to a human. Their artificial immune system can web over small wounds with a clotting liquid, but it's not foolproof. On top of that, if connective nerves are broken between a limb and the brain, severe glitches become very obvious. Yellow requires immediate repair, to protect their identity.

Red: System damage

Fractures through the plating and into the torso, throat or face are considered severe. These compromise the integrity of the body--you can only fix something so many times before it'll collapse under its own weight. A significant example is Morrigan's left eye--there is a slice in the skin, which, when it occurred, damaged the ocular systems. The color glitched, and their iris turned temporarily yellow. The worst of the damage was to the skin around it. With a system so temperamental, it was impossible to fully repair. The scar is permanent, until Morrigan is replaced by a new model.

And finally:

Illness

Despite Morrigan's artificial nature, they are not immune to illness. Bugs that interfere with their temperature cause very similar symptoms to the human fever; damage to the neck or eyes result in headaches, migraines, or even hallucinations; and spores, pollen, or poisons can clog their respiratory system, resulting in cold-like feelings or even lightheadedness. Important to note: these can only be fixed by Morrigan themselves or by a technician. If no technician is available, the situation becomes far more dangerous.

Also, because Morrigan has a cardiovascular system, poisons carry quickly through the body. These can damage their internal systems, and cause a whole host of severe problems before they're aware enough to destroy the infiltrating chemical.

Final thoughts

The most important thing to keep in mind is that Morrigan is a prototype. Androids are not common. They are almost entirely unique. Any damage, illness, or error that occurs is exponentially more dangerous when a technician isn't around--or, for that matter, is unwilling to help.

And secondly, for all of Morrigan's knowledge in combat, medicine, manipulation, and their own personal makeup--

There is no way to withstand a deactivation code.

If the company decides Morrigan must be recalled, there is only one way to ensure they are totally and completely safe. And that is to reprogram them yourself.

But we've seen what small errors can do, haven't we?

for my OC Roxanne, i keep an unofficial mental list of my friends OCs that she *cannot* meet, because she would either make them worse, or they would make each other worse. she is incredibly difficult for me to summarize cuz shes lived in my head so so long.

shapeshifter raised in a lovely community, got isolated from that community as a young adult. shit happened, she murdered someone she loved to survive bc he wouldve killed her (in a ritual sacrifice, to be specific). and when she walked away from his corpse, she was a new person, a new face - Roxanne - leaving behind her old face and name.

she forges a new life for herself. reconnects with her community after a while. but she has so firmly shut herself out of her own mind. she knows what to say and who to be to get what she needs, she neglects to consider where those needs come from and what they are.

also, she's a bard! and while she is a musician, most of her magical ability comes from storytelling, not music. a lie, a weave of words, a turn of phrase - reaching out and seizing the narration she occupies.

this all to say - of your characters, i think at *least* wolfgang would go on the list of, "these two cannot meet they would make each other worse." so, naturally, they should meet i think it would be great

i absolutely see what you mean and it's funny to think - if they were able to sit down and both let like five layers of their guard down, they would find out they have a lot in common. shared elements like starting over with a new name, reconnecting with their community after traumatic events.

but knowing Wolf they would not be able to just let someone know them like that so i could see the two of them circling each other like two cats, trying to figure the other one out while also playing a game of out-manipulating each other and being surprised when they hit walls other people don't have. but maybe also beginning to appreciate the other's skill?

i feel like it would inevitably end with them both entangled in some dangerous scheme while trying to prove something to each other <3

White Hawk Timeline Hcs

Part 1

A lot of Griffith’s men are sick, so he stops in a town in search of a doctor. In town, he senses the brand of sacrifice as well as something he can’t place, so he follows the pull until he comes to a clinic. In the back of his mind, he knows that the brand belongs to Nori. Griffith feels his heart start to beat, just as he did on The Hill of Swords. Excitement.

Griffith’s mere presence is too much for Nori’s body. He’s unable to register the sound of the people around him panicking. He can only feel the pain and fear because Nori knows that whatever the brand was reacting to was a bigger evil than he could fight. Not only that, but he’s scared for himself, his son, and the people of the town. Then, all of a sudden, the pain is gone. There's a hand on his shoulder, and he hears that voice. His voice. Griffith. The people around them seem to disappear, and as Nori looks up at him, it's like it’s only them in the room. Like a stoat in a hawk’s claws.

Griffith tells Nori that he’s glad to see he is well, and he really is. Nori just looks away from him. Griffith knows he can’t lose Nori again, so he tells him that his men are sick and that he needs help. Nori, much to his detriment, is a compassionate man and decides to help.

After agreeing to this, Nori is told by Griffith that he’ll be safe from the evil spirits if he stays by his side. He agrees, but is hesitant. When Griffith goes to leave, Nori stops to bring a boy. To which Griffith realizes the boy is not only Nori’s child, but was a product of him being raped by the king. He also realizes that this child was tainted by the Eclipse, and he had been sensing him alongside the brand.

Now, Griffith feels nothing towards Cassius. The boy may be the product of the abuse he had witnessed Nori go through, but Griffith only feels for Nori and Guts. He doesn't care about Cassius outside the fact that he is a potential way to the throne. Outside the shop, Nori, Cassius, and Griffith are confronted by Mule and Sonia. The two are curious about Nori and his son. Sonia is quick to ask questions, while Mule tries to stop her.

At the camp, Nori instructs his doctors and nurses as they take care of the sick men. He also has to sleep in Griffith’s tent at night, or at least have an apostle with him to protect him from evil spirits. Nori himself takes care of the sick as well, causing him to end up sick himself. Griffith panics slightly when he hears this, but is unable to go to Nori at first. When he does get to him, Griffith finds Nori in the tent of his closest doctor James, and he’s not pleased.

James is far too close to Nori and even tells Griffith that he needs to leave. Griffith eventually gets James to back down and takes Nori back to his tent. Where, in his mind, Nori belonged. Griffith spends as much time with Nori as he can. He’s reminded of just how human and vulnerable the man is.

Griffith hates seeing Nori whimpering and crying in his sleep. He does relish that he can hold him. When Nori’s fever breaks, he tries to go back to work, but Griffith forbids him from doing so. Griffith keeps Nori from working up until the sickness passes.

His daughter can expect plenty of jokes at her expense; when she leaves home Argus will ask if she's going to go chain herself to a tree, or he'll mock her by using (or, more accurately, misusing) copious amounts of 70s slang whenever he talks to her.

i thought id make a bit of an attempt to give a more serious answer to the oc meeting prompt.. as far as i can judge it, since they do live in pretty different worlds :) id say im thinking of slightly older versions of gabbi and ellis for this bc i just dont think they might cross paths much otherwise (more for the fact that both of them are kind of isolated people in the younger ages they have in their story) generally i think gabbi would be a little stunned and intimidated by wolf a little bit, but in a really positive sense. i could imagine them meeting at some kind of theater bar where gabbi is doing a show. i think they would probably get along pretty well and gabbi would probably ask and yap about their outfits :) i think in vamp au they have their own whole dynamic where they are friends based on circumstance a bit, but overall i think they might connect over their love of people and the finer things in life that others often overlook. on the other hand, i think ellis would have a hard time really finding common ground with them, as i feel like they are kind of social opposites.. i think he might rather just sit around with bastien and they can slightly frown at each other and like maybe end up agreeing that the lack of pressure to have small talk in that is actually more pleasant than expected. i also think that ellis might be interested in the kind of work bastien does, since hes really interested in science (although more from the biological side than on the mechanical side, seeing the crossover between it as something really fascinating) a fun thing i thought about would be wolf and esra interacting bc i think they would dislike each other on first impressions, with wolf maybe seeing through the fact that esra is kind of shallow and fake and it just doesnt work on them. but actually getting to know each other they might be really into talking shit together. i think esra would quickly understand that wolfs kindness is genuine, and not put on like their own. and chill out and show their more comfortable and authentic side and maybe they connect over that a little bit. id also imagine esra as a human, being really curious and amazed by their ability and willingness to change their own body (but not wanting to nose around about it, as to not be rude.) a bit difficult to judge everything since their worlds are so different, and to think of a scenario where they would even meet each other, but i think esra might be the most easily implemented in that,, as they do collect info on others and trade it with trustworthy sources.

its fun to consider from Wolfgang's point of view why they would be in vicinity of someone like Gabriel, who based on class and his background as an heir of a politician high up in his city's strata, is simply worlds away from the world Wolf occupies. in fact it makes Gabbi into a mark - someone important to get closer to and get information out of about their family business and political moves : ) not to say they could not get closer as friends eventually, but i feel like Gabbi would be an easy target for them to make a very strong positive impression and then just let him talk. maybe then they would find out Gabriel has actually no useful information about the more politically involved people in his family and also just isn't really interested in all that in general but that he has a good heart, so they would keep meeting for tea here and there to chat just on a purely friendly basis : D

Ellis and Wolf is intriguing because i feel like they could get him to talk but quickly come up against the secrets and mysteries of his past and his general lack of social skill and interest in people, and decide its probably not worth trying despite the mystery behind those amber eyes. Ellis and Bastien are like, two very introverted people who if they could get over the awkwardness of not being able to hold a conversation maybe they would actually find common ground and geek out over some of the technical details of Bastien's side hustle, i can totally see it.

i don't know as much about Esra but they seem like an intriguing character and their occupation could definitely put them in Wolf's way. though Wolfgang has had negative experiences with information brokers and they on principle don't trust them and don't get close to them outside of work purposes. if they got friendly enough outside of that line of work though they would have no issues sharing anything about their surgeries with a fellow trans person, they don't feel shy about it :) (outside of not sharing specifics that would identify the surgeon and put them in danger because changing your body as an android is not legal) in fact its a point of pride to feel comfortable in their body and all they have done to achieve that feeling!
