Ranting about the Death Note amnesia trope below, if you like the No-Memories ending scroll past because this is just me expanding on why I don't like it
I think that the reason I tend to despise the Memory Loss ending is because it's framed as a happy one. I can understand it when it's written as a sad or bittersweet end, but not when it's written as a hopeful or wholly happy one.
Not just because I don't think it's happy, but also because it just seems disingenuous, especially when framed as a loving ending.
I don't know, it just—it takes away a lot of what I like about Lawlight as a ship. Enemies to Lovers at its core is about seeing the darkest parts of someone, having someone know every nasty, cruel bit of your soul, and falling in love with them anyway. Not even in spite of it—with Lawlight specifically, I see them as people that fall in love with each other BECAUSE of those parts of themselves. The parts that they hide away from the world, the parts that no one else accepts.
The memory loss trope just,,,wipes all of that away. It takes away the struggle of getting better. It's cutting out the parts of your lover that you don't like or that don't fit your narrative to "fix" them.
I think, at its core, what bothers me most is that it takes away the choice.
Without his memories, Light is stripped of his choice to decide whether or not he wants to better himself. Personally, I don't see L as someone who can redeem him (that's also another reason I dislike this trope), so for L to yoink Light's memories of being Kira and say "All fixed!" is like someone sticking a bandaid over a gaping wound. Because he's not someone who can stitch it closed, who can help it heal, because he is an intrinsic part of Kira's story. As an antagonist. An equal.
It rubs me viscerally the wrong way, especially when it's framed as the only way for them to be happy together. L isn't a good person. Light isn't a good person. If they were I wouldn't be nearly so invested in their relationship.
Don't get me wrong, I also hate it when L just,,,,magically gains a moral compass. If he wants to be a good man I need him to work for it, I don't want him OR Light to have an easy way out, to have a magic Get-Rid-Of-The-Difficult-Things-About-My-Lover-Free button.
But also, just. Let them be fucked up. They're toxic and awful and perfect for each other and I want them at each other's throats hand in hand for the rest of their lives.
I think that's my bottom line—I don't like the memory loss ending because it makes them both out to be something they're not.
L is not a good man with pure intentions. If he wants Light to give up his memories I take it to mean he wants the easy route. He wants to be with a Light that doesn't remember that he hated him or why, that doesn't remember all the bad things he's done, that's still an innocent child in a lot of ways—because it's easy. It's fast. He doesn't have to work for it. He doesn't have to work for forgiveness or try to give it because the man that he needs to forgive and be forgiven by doesn't exist anymore.
Light isn't an innocent little boy that's been corrupted by an evil entity. He's a man who's made mistakes, who's arrogant and closed-minded and stubborn and in denial, who calls himself evil but refuses to believe it, who smiled while he killed a grieving woman, who smiled while he killed a friend and held them close, who was so terribly lonely that his first friend was a monster.
And, if you're going to go that route, acknowledge that it's toxic too. Acknowledge that Light is going to struggle and he won't remember why. Acknowledge that underneath everything he's still Kira, because Kira was just a set of decisions that Light made, not a malevolent entity that possessed him. Acknowledge that Light giving up his memories is him giving up attempting to redeem himself, or attempting to exist in certain capacities completely.
An add-on—personally, I don't see L as someone who would want Light to give up his memories. Because L doesn't usually take the easy way out. It's a game between them, and he's playing to win and win completely. While he DOES play dirty, he still wants his opponent to acknowledge that he won, and he wants them to remember it. Light losing his memories would be a loss for L too, in a way, because then he's lost his playmate. He's lost his equal. He's lost the person that's going to fight him on everything that matters and yet agree with him on everything that doesn't. He's lost the person that can appreciate every move he makes.
Plus... there's something to be said for evil husbands that are on opposite sides, isn't there? ;3

your boyfriend sleeps on the couch after an argument you both had earlier that day. after calming your nerves and taking time for yourself, you realise that you might have been a bit too harsh on him.
☀︎|tags. older bf!gojo satoru x female reader. fluff / angst / hurt + comfort. age gap (reader early 20’s & satoru early 30’s). nicknames used; ‘(little) baby’. he’s honestly just the perfect combination of gentle and teasing. subtle mentions of size difference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
satoru shifts on the couch whilst letting out an inaudible yawn. he was tired after an entire day at work and finally had the chance to settle down in the comfort of his apartment.
though, he couldn’t really relax just yet. the reason why being the undeniable tension hanging in the air. he was in fact home, but it didn’t feel like it. not when you were missing.
you had holed yourself up in the master bedroom after an earlier argument the two of you had. it wasn’t a big fight — just a little squabble between lovers. satoru didn’t rush after you when you had decided to walk away midst argument. you clearly weren’t in the right headspace to properly articulate nor communicate your feelings.
he figured that you just needed some time alone and thus decided to leave you be. he didn’t want to risk losing you by annoying you any further.
satoru scrolls on his phone out of boredom. the light radiating off the screen starts to bother his already sensitive eyes. with a sigh, he shuts off the device and puts it down on the coffee table.
it was dead silent in the apartment that was usually filled with your lively chatter. the sorcerer wants nothing more than to cuddle up with you under the covers and fall asleep. but, you needed space and he wasn’t going to disturb you.
he drapes an arm over his eyes and pulls the thin blanket over his chest. his breaths were steady and his thoughts were surprisingly calm. satoru almost drifts off to sleep, however his body lightly jolts awake once he hears the creaking of a door.
careful footsteps echo throughout the hallway and stop right at the doorstep of the living room.
satoru moves his arm to the side so his vision wouldn’t be obstructed. his eyes land on the figure standing at the doorframe — one he could recognise instantly.
it was you, standing there with your head held low and your fingers curled around the hem of your nightgown. you didn’t take another step forwards and just lingered in your spot for a few seconds without saying anything.
“hey, baby.” satoru breaks the silence. his voice was as soft as it could be, not an ounce of annoyance or frustration in it. even if he had all the reason to be upset according to you.
you remember just how childish you acted earlier; you had lost all rationality, shouted at your boyfriend out of frustration and ran off mid sentence instead of properly addressing the issue at hand. the way you handled that situation was wrong and immature.
in contrast to your immature behaviour, satoru had stayed calm and collected throughout the entirety of your argument. he hadn’t raised his voice at you even once nor did he blame you for anything. you felt bad for acting like a bratty kid who didn’t get her way.
you eventually move towards the couch, still not making eye contact with your boyfriend. he sits up and simply watches you with a raised eyebrow—curious as to what you were about to do.
you knew you had to apologise for your behaviour, but what you needed first was his validation. you wordlessly climb onto the couch and under the blanket satoru was using.
your arms wrap around his torso and you hug him tightly to your body, face buried in his shirt to cover your embarrassed and remorseful expression.
satoru’s eyes widen a bit at the sudden show of affection, though he wasn’t complaining. he reciprocates the gesture and nuzzles his cheek against the top of your head.
“my little baby.” he chuckles, hands rubbing your back in attempt to reassure you that everything was and will be fine, “i’m happy you decided to come back to me — thank you.”
again. that tender tone satoru uses only with you and for you. the guilt from earlier hits you like a truck and your eyes well up with tears before you could stop the process.
“sorry,” your voice cracks once you finally muster out an apology. the warmth engulfing your cold body was enough to make you sob in his comforting embrace. satoru sighs and closes his eyes. he rests his chin on top of your head whilst holding you like his life depended on it.
no words were exchanged between you two for a good minute. satoru silently encourages you to cry it out and so you do. after calming down, you sniffle and pull your head away from his chest. your eyes were watery and a bit red.
the pad of his thumb sweeps the stray tears away from your cheeks, his touch precise and careful. he smiles softly at the sight of his teary-eyed girlfriend. you were so adorable and precious to him. even when you looked like a mess — a pretty mess.
“i just..” you start off, small hiccups interrupting your sentence, “i wanted to apologise for acting so childish. i shouldn’t have said nor did any of those hurtful things. i apologise for that as well.”
your lover nods along to your words. he hums in delight and kisses your forehead, his lips lingering there for longer than intended, “don’t worry, baby. i understand. thank you for apologising, though.”
you mutter a small ‘of course’ in-between sniffles. that was all the reassurance you had needed to hear from your boyfriend. though, you still felt bad and the guilt of your immature actions seemed to linger in the back of your mind.
you lay your head back on satoru’s chest and listen to his heartbeat — hoping that the constant sound would drown out any other thoughts. your lover lays on his back and pulls you down on top of him. his hands rub your sides, slender fingers toying with the silky material of your nightgown.
“i’m sorry for being immature sometimes. i’m sure it must be troubling to deal with.” you whisper as you enjoy the feeling of being back in satoru’s arms.
he grins and shakes his head in response. he loves every side of yours — even your immature one. if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be here right now. he truly loves all of you.
the older man places another soft kiss on top of your head and closes his eyes afterwards, “heh, i’d be lying if i said that you trying to act all tough earlier wasn’t cute.”
satoru snickers at the memory. he remembers how you pointed that little finger of yours in front of his face and how you tried to subtly stand on the tips of your toes so you could look him in the eyes properly. your attempts at looking intimidating were quite endearing.
it’s not like he was invalidating your feelings with that comment — he was genuinely trying to lighten your mood. and it wasn’t like it didn’t work.
“whatever.” you huff, playfully swatting his biceps and gaining an over exaggerated ‘ow!’ in response. you’re glad that things have gone back to normal between you two. if the situation had continued for any longer, you’d have lost your mind.
you aren’t the only one who is extremely relieved. satoru is beaming with joy because he gets to hold and talk to you again. that small period of silence between the both of you felt like an eternity to him.
no matter how many times you have those little arguments, satoru will still love you all the same.

The goblin looked at the orc. The orc looked at the goblin. They both looked down at the crumpled shape of the Overlord, His Unholy Majesty, in his obsidian armor.
His final spasms had been mesmerizingly acrobatic. The fall down the steps leading up to his iron throne had pretzelled his body quite impressively, both arms folded behind his back and one leg bent at a jaunty angle.
The goblin looked at the orc. The orc looked at the goblin.
"Shit," said the goblin.
"Shit," said the orc.
"We're likely to get blamed for this," the goblin said. She walked over to the head of the glittering mangled heap and started pulling the helmet off.
"It's not our fault," the orc said. "It's hard to help someone choking when they wear two-hundred pounds of spiked armor at all times."
"Yeah, well," the goblin grunted. The helmet came free, and the bald head of the Overlord bounced on the stone with a hollow, coconut noise. "You know how it is in this bloody country - thieves get their heads cut off so they can't think about thieving, and all that." She fished in the Overlord's mouth with a finger and pulled out the obstructing olive on the end of her claw.
She popped it into her mouth and chewed. "What do you reckon they do for a regicide?" she said.
"We should run," the orc said. She had started bouncing her leg. "I hear that there's some places in the Alliance where they just kill you and let you stay dead. That's got to be nicer than what'll happen if we stay here."
The goblin started to nod - and then her gaze fell on the helmet.
It looked like a pineapple designed by a deranged blacksmith. It was all thorns and spikes and hard edges, as though the maker had been very determined to not let pigeons roost on it. The only bits that weren't solid iron were eyeholes. Nobody had ever seen the Overlord's face.
She held up the helmet and squinted from it to the orc. One of the thorns had been bent badly in the fall.
Nobody had ever seen the Overlord's face...
"Right," she muttered. "Right. Could work - or."
The orc had a sudden vision of the immediate future. "No," she said.
"I mean you're about his height-"
"No."
"It would just be for a-"
"Absolutely not."
"Just hear me out," the goblin said. "Outside of this room are two-thousand men and orcs and goblins who are absolutely gonzo about this man, and there's a whole country of them outside of the castle, and at any moment someone's going to walk in that door and see one dead tit in black armor and two unbelievably dead idiots next to him.
"Or." She tossed the helmet up like a basketball to the orc, who fumbled and tried to find somewhere to hold it that wasn't a knife's edge. "We chuck him out the window now, walk out the door in the armor, and ditch the armor as soon as nobody sees us."
The orc had started bouncing her leg again. "They'll know something's up the second I walk out of the room."
"No worries," said the goblin. "Leave that to me."
---
It had been a very strange year for the Empire.
Change had rolled across the land as slow and inevitable as a glacier. Roads and bridges carved the gray, blasted wildlands, and a number of social reforms had made the country a place where you could be miserable, yes, but miserable in comfort and safety, and that was an improvement.
Barely anyone got boiled alive in molten metal, and even if the disgusted sun never rose to light the Empire, at least you had a roof over your head to protect yourself from the acid rain.
"Your empire flourishes, Your Unholy Majesty," the magician said over her wine glass. She looked down from the tower's balcony over the gleaming stone battlements. Some work had been done to line the castle and surrounding city with sizzling, crackling alchemical lights at night. The whole thing glowed like something dangerously radioactive.
The suit of armor waved a languid, glittering gauntlet over to the goblin, who bowed.
"His Abominable Gloriousness Thanks You," the goblin recited. "The Prosperity Of His Empire Can Only Be Achieved Through The Prosperity Of His People."
"If I may be so bold, I am quite pleased that you had chosen to take my counsel under consideration," said the magician. "We have accomplished many things together."
Another wave. Another bow. "The Overlord, May His Presence Swallow The Sun And Stars, Thanks You As Well."
"It was quite gratifying to see you change your mind, after so many centuries of denial." The wine was swirled. "Tell me, what was it that finally gave you cause to listen to me?"
There was the slightest hesitation. The goblin's eyes flicked to the armor, then to the magician. She puffed out her chest. "Do you question the wisdom of His Austere Lugubriousness?" she asked.
The magician looked at the goblin. She looked at the armor. She tipped her head back and drank the wine too quickly.
She looked back at the armor. "I know you're the orc, you moron," she said.
The room went deathly still. An alchemical light fizzled.
The orc pulled off the helmet, sending long, untied hair down tangling, and said: "How could you possibly-"
"Because you're both idiots!" the magician said. The goblin jumped. The orc jumped with a noise like a dropped stove. "What kind of a plan was this?! If it wasn't for me, you would have been turned into fertilizer months ago."
She closed her eyes. She took a long, dramatic breath. She set the wine glass down on the balcony rail.
"How did the Overlord die?" she asked when she seemed like she had gotten a hold over herself.
"Choked on an olive," said the goblin.
"Threw his body out the window," said the orc.
"You don't have to mention the window," said the goblin.
"Right," said the orc. "Sorry."
The magician looked out over the city, hand curled thoughtfully under her nose. "Who knows about this?"
"Just us. And, uh. You. Apparently."
"And why did you accept my counsel?"
The orc blinked. "Sorry?"
"Why did you accept my counsel?" the magician repeated.
"Well," the orc said. "Well - you seemed like you had good ideas-"
"Great ideas!" the goblin said with an edge of desperation. "Don't know why the old bastard didn't listen to you!"
"Right - right," said the orc. "And when we figured we were stuck doing this - well, it just made sense, really."
The magician seemed to absorb this. She nodded. "All right," she said, striding between the two and grabbing the crystal decanter.
"Um," said the orc. "Sorry. What happens now?"
"What happens is that you two will continue to serve as Overlord," said the magician. "You will continue to take my counsel. We will continue to reform this bloody country, and gods willing, we will turn it into the crown jewel of the world by next Midwinter."
The orc looked at the goblin. The goblin looked at the orc.
"Really?" the goblin asked.
"Oh yes," said the magician. "I've worked hard to be counsel to the Overlord, and I have no reason to stop now. And besides-"
She looked the orc up and down with a deliberate slowness, poring over every microscopic detail, eyes tracing over every jagged line, and grinned like a panther.
"You look much better in the armor than he ever did," she said. Dark robes swirled like a becleavaged thundercloud, and she strode out through the high iron doors, decanter in hand.
The goblin looked at the orc. The orc looked at the goblin.
"Shit," said the goblin.
"Shit," said the orc.

in which you find yourself in the restroom with chris at one of your infamous parties — only having a few minutes to spare

recently your name had become the talk of the small town that was los angeles — your social media was on the rise, and everything seemed to be aligning perfectly in your favor. your schedule was booked with campaigns and photo shoots, back to back, and most recently a collaboration of your own, curated, collection with a luxury lingerie brand in the city.
tonight was the collection launch party and while you may have been the hot topic, your parties were even hotter. the mere mention of your name was immediately followed up with rumors of your infamous parties.
leaning in just inches from your reflection, your lips naturally fell open as you touched up your mascara in the warm light of the powder room, humming softly to the song muffling through the walls downstairs.
holding onto the cool marble countertop, your other hand was preoccupied with a freshly stirred apple martini as you thoroughly scanned your face for any flaws or creases in your makeup. carefully laying your flyaways flat and smoothing any wrinkles in your outfit.
you had finally managed to slip away from the party, your party, for just a moment. between meeting new faces and engaging in small talk as you made your rounds throughout the venue, you desperately needed a breather to escape from the body heat rising thick into the air.
gently patting any signs of perspiration showing on your forehead with a paper towel, you tossed it in the trash before giving one final look. with a smile, you pushed through the door while ducking your head down to bring the full martini glass to your lips before your path was obstructed by something — or rather, someone, colliding directly into a broad, solid chest.
the force causing your drink to flow over the rim of the glass, dropping to the floor and spilling all over you and said chest on the way down. “shit” you cursed under your breath, the cold liquid instantly soaking into your clothes as your eyes trailed up at the person standing directly in front of you, also covered in apple martini.
“i’m so sorry, i wasn’t paying attention” you apologized, your eyes meeting theirs as your sentence slowly trailed off when you realized who you just spilled your drink all over. a brunette with blue eyes now filled with distress, one of the sturniolo’s, although you weren’t exactly sure which one.
“shit, no, that’s my bad i wasn’t looking” he apologized immediately, adjusting the black fitted hat on his head as he leaned down to pick up the empty martini glass.
both of your outfits stained with apple liqueur as your eyes were now down on his shirt “here, let me help you” you insisted, taking his hand beneath yours as you pulled him back into the powder room just a few feet behind you.
his hand naturally fitting beneath yours before dropping it to run a paper towel under the sink, handing it to him with an apologetic expression. “i’m really sorry, i was in such a rush i didn’t even bother looking up” you shook your head, embarrassed by your own careless clumsiness.
taking the paper towel, the brunette also shook his head with a low chuckle “i wasn’t looking either” he mumbled, his attention down on his shirt as he began to dab at the liquid soaking through the fabric. “so i guess we both fucked up” he continued, a smile pulling on his lips.
“i guess so” you giggled softly, turning to face the mirror as you examined the damage done to your outfit. while you were wearing all red, not nearly as bad as white, the dark stains still managed to show through the fabric. “shit” you mumbled under your breath, pulling the corset top up your chest as you ran a dry paper towel over the stains beginning to set.
chris stood a few feet behind you working on his own mess, the sound of your voice causing him to shoot you a glance through the mirror. “sorry, again, that’s my bad, i didn’t mean to ruin the ‘fit” he shook his head, his eyes falling back down to his shirt “or your night” he scoffed to himself, with a quiet chuckle.
“you didn’t ruin my night, trust me” you smiled reassuringly, your eyes up on him through the mirror as you glanced at the green stain forming down his white shirt. “if anyone ruined anything, it’s that shirt” you giggled, gently biting the inside of your cheek
“pfft this old thing? i was gonna toss it anyways” he teased sarcastically, knowing it was a brand new shirt. you couldn’t help but laugh at his comment, rolling your eyes with a smile “right” you mumbled softly.
the sound of muffled music playing from downstairs filled the room as you two stood in a comfortable silence. tossing the paper towel into the trash, your eyes scanned over your outfit before adjusting your top once more as it had been slipping down your chest throughout the night.
“hey, while i have you here — would you mind giving me a hand?” you smiled, your hands reaching around to the red ribbon weaved perfectly down your spine as it had worn loose over the past couple of hours.
his eyes slightly widening as he looked down the intricately laced corset, clearing his throat with a laugh “uh, i think you got the wrong guy to help you” he chuckled, shaking his head hesitantly before stepping towards the door “let me get my brother, he can help for sure” he mumbled quickly before you stretched your foot back to block the door, your platform now blocking his way.
“do you wanna make it up to me for ruining my night or not?” you teased with a playful pout on your lips, your eyes still on him through the mirror. “it’s not as scary as it looks, i promise” you shook your head with a laugh.
stopping in his tracks, his eyes shooting upwards towards the back of your leg, up your thighs, and briefly catching a glimpse of your ass as he finally looked at you through the mirror. “yeah but i don’t wanna fuck it up even more” he laughed again, slightly turning to face you now.
“oh, stop, will you just help me?” you rolled your eyes with a soft giggle, beginning to untie the ribbon laced into a loose bow at the bottom of your spine. chris nodded his head while stepping directly behind you, in front of the mirror, as his eyes worked down your back.
“just take these, and pull, okay?” you talked him through the two simple steps, holding out both ends of the ribbon for him behind your back as he slowly took them between his hands, his fingers briefly brushing over yours.
“just pull? that’s it?” he asked, his eyebrows slightly furrowing in confusion. “yessir, just pull” you smiled, looking at him through the mirror as you could have sworn you saw his lips quip up into a half-smirk at the name ‘sir’
“like tying your shoes, if you know how to do that — of course” you giggled, his face immediately falling at your words as he scoffed “yeah, don’t worry, i know how to tie my shoes” he playfully mocked, rolling his eyes as he began to gently tug at the laces.
your hands gripping the drop in sink for leverage as he continued to lazily pull at the ribbon “harder, please” you instructed as his eyebrows immediately raised, that same half-smirk now pulling farther up his lips “oh?” he chuckled.
your smile falling as you glared at his reflection “get your head out of the gutter” you rolled your eyes, your fingers gripping tighter around the sink to brace yourself as he nodded his head “yes ma’am” he obeyed sarcastically under his breath, finally giving the ribbon a forceful pull, causing you to stand up straight.
“there we go” you hummed softly under your breath with a smile. as his fingers worked down the ribbon, you inhaled heavily so he could cinch in the corset as tight as possible. “you’re one of the triplets, right?” you asked, breaking the few seconds of silence as you realized that you never formally introduced yourself to the stranger with his hands all over your back.
“mhm” he hummed softly, his attention still focused on the laces as he briefly shot you a glance through the mirror “chris” he smiled, the name immediately ringing a bell in your mind.
“oh, fresh love boy” you smiled, your feet slightly staggering backwards with every pull. chris chuckling softly as he attended to the task in front of him “yes ma’am, fresh love boy” he nodded his head, with a smile, trying his best to multitask.
only knowing that because his manager had recently gotten in contact with your own about getting you to shoot with the brand. also, throwing ideas back and forth about setting you two up on a couple of dates — for publicity reasons, of course, although you weren’t sure if he knew entirely about that last part.
the music downstairs continued to muffle through the walls as your fingers gripped tighter around the sink, holding yourself steady.
“did your manager tell you about that little publicity idea she had in mind?” you laughed softly, trying to fill the silence, your eyes on chris as he chuckled “yeah, i heard ‘bout it” he shook his head, his cheeks blushing a soft shade of pink.
“i didn’t wanna say anything, didn’t wanna make it awkward or anything ” he admitted, immediately recognizing who you were after he had spilled the drink all over you. it was your party after all and it was somewhat hard to miss the giant pictures of you in various lingerie sets scattered throughout the venue.
your faintly awkward laughs filled the air as a blush painted on both of your faces, flustered by the idea of a fake relationship — a fake date at that.
“kinda crazy, don’t you think?” you mumbled as he winced at your words, playfully hissing through his teeth “ouch” he began, now looking up at you through the mirror
“what’s so crazy ‘bout going on a date with me?” he acted offended, shaking his head as his eyes dropped back down to the corset.
“you know what i meant” you shook your head with a soft giggle as he took a step closer to get a better grip on the strings “i don’t know-” he began quietly, wrapping the ribbon around his knuckles before pulling the strings completely taut, with a purpose, causing your body to fall back into his chest.
you softly gasped for air as he pulled, your eyes slightly widening at him as your hands were still wrapped around the sink for support. “i don’t think it’s all that crazy” he continued mumbling, not at all fazed by your back being pressed flush against his chest as he looked up at your reflection.
you exhaled slowly, your cleavage now propped up on your chest as it rose and fell with your breathing. “oh yeah? why’s that?” you asked softly, your eyes flickering back and forth between his as that charming half smirk tugged at his lips again.
“i mean, look at you” he shrugged, his gaze scanning down your body through the mirror and back up to your eyes. your cheeks automatically blushing red as you felt a heat rise to your face, shaking your head with a smile as your eyes met. “are you flirting with me christopher?” you laughed, your lips slightly parted open as he reciprocated the smile.
“duh, i’d be fuckin’ stupid not to” he laughed confidently, not afraid to take the one chance he got alone with you all night. your cheeks flushed an even deeper shade of red, immediately looking down as you didn’t want him to catch you getting flustered. “stop” you giggled, stepping forward against the counter to create a space between you again.
“i’m serious” he shook his head, his focus on the corset as he worked his way towards the bottom of your back now. “you’re a total knockout kid” he shrugged his shoulders once more as he pulled the ribbon even tighter, causing you to stumble back into his chest again, although this time around — you didn’t move, rather melt into his touch.
the compliments causing your face to heat up even more, blushing like an absolute idiot now as you smiled at him through the mirror. “chris” you whispered with a soft laugh, shaking your head non-stop at his words.
“what? i’m serious” he laughed, looking down at the minuscule gap between the both of you, slowly tying a small bow with the ribbon between his fingers “i mean, goddamn, look around, the proof is all over the walls” he chuckled.
you bit the inside of your cheek, his words genuinely getting to your head now as you remained silent, flustered, looking for the right thing to say. “everything about you, shit, like i said — i’d be stupid not to tell you how beautiful you are” he said with his tone low as he wrapped his fingers around the the bow, purposely pulling you into him, causing you to completely press against his chest and close the gap between you “even you know it” he mumbled
you shook your head, now staring up at him “keep talking like that pretty boy and they’re gonna have to come looking for us” you teased sarcastically with a laugh as he raised his eyebrows briefly, instantly flashing a grin.
“yeah?” he mumbled, lifting the black boston red sox fitted off of his head as he swiftly ran a hand through his hair, placing it on backwards now. his hands slowly trailing around the sides of your hips as he pulled your body back even farther into his frame. you gently tugged at your bottom lip, your eyes locked on his as you willingly let him run his hands over your waist.
chris lowered his head to press a slow kiss against your exposed shoulder, his lips lingering over your skin “did i mention your body? goddamn, that fuckin’ body of yours” he groaned under his breath, his hands slowly working around the front of your stomach now as you gently leaned into his touch, the back of your head resting on his shoulder.
“i was trying to leave with one of those posters out there tonight” he chuckled as you shook your head, giggling softly at his words “oh, shut up” you blushed, your eyes following his every movement in the mirror.
“i’m serious” he mumbled “you think those lil’ instagram posts of yours haven’t been driving me crazy too?” he continued, his tone low as he trailed his lips up your shoulders and towards your neck.
“i swear, even your hair is perfect” he laughed, using a hand to brush your hair to the other side of your neck to grant him more access to your skin.
“your back, so hot for no fuckin’ reason” chris muttered to himself, his breath hot against your skin. he brought both of his hands to your hips to hold you steady again as you turned your face to look at him, just inches away from his lips as he rested his chin on your shoulder.
“and that face — that goddamn drop dead gorgeous face, kid, you’re killin’ me here” he flashed a smug half smile, pressing one last kiss against your neck as your stare remained on him. “chris” you mumbled, your hand reaching up to trail into the side of his hair peeking out beneath his hat.
“hm?” he hummed, silently enjoying the feeling of your fingers in his hair, tilting his head back as your eyes were locked in his soft blue ones. “enough of the smooth talk, do something about it already” you giggled as his smile pulled farther up his lips, slightly nodding his head “yes ma’am” he obeyed with a grin, lifting his right hand to wrap his fingers gently around your neck as he pulled your face closer, finally pressing his lips against yours.
tilting your head farther to the side, you reciprocated the intensity of the kiss as his left arm slid around the front of your waist, pressing your back flush against his chest. the muscle in his biceps peeking through as he held you still, your fingers trailing farther into his hair as you gently tugged the roots at the nape of his neck.
chris groaned softly through parted lips, allowing you to brush your tongue softly against his bottom lip. the grip of his fingers around your neck gently tightening as you felt his erection poke through his jeans, pressing against your back.
dropping his hands to your waist, he turned your body around to face him as your arms naturally wrapped around his neck. his hands tight on your hips as he stepped forward, gently pushing your back against the edge of the sink before lifting your body onto the counter without breaking the kiss.
your legs instinctively parting open for him to stand between them as he held a firm grip on your hips, his hands slowly trailing down the front of your thighs.
“how much time you got kid?” he mumbled against your lips, his breathing rapid with urgency and intimacy. slightly pulling away from the kiss, your eyelids fluttered open to look at him as your lips lingered against his, briefly shooting a glance down at your phone screen to check the time “a couple more minutes” you whispered, your breathing also ragged.
“bet” he groaned “all i need is five” his voice low and husky as he connected your lips once again. you nodded your head, your thighs gently spreading father open against the counter as he began to work on the belt sitting on his waist.
“nuh uh” he mumbled, shaking his head as he completely unbuckled the belt, the metal clanking as he moved his hands to your waist. your eyebrows slightly knitting together as he carried your body down off the sink, his hands dropping to your waist as he turned you around to face the mirror.
“gotta see that pretty little face while i’m hittin’ it” chris groaned, planting a kiss against your neck before smoothing his hand up your back and pushing forward, bending your upper half over the sink.
you nodded your head, slightly taken by surprise with a soft gasp, gently tugging at your bottom lip as he brought both of his hands to your ass, pushing your mini skirt properly up over your hips.
knowing the clock was ticking, chris worked with urgency as he slipped the black lace thong down past your thighs, lifting your feet for him to pull them off completely. tucking the little fabric into his back pocket as he quickly worked at the button of his jeans, pulling them down his hips as his fully hard cock sprung out beneath his boxers.
you breathed in heavily, glancing back over your shoulder at the sight behind you in the mirror as chris turned his face up to look at you.
“so pretty” he hummed softly, with a smug smile, before trailing his hand up your back, wrapping the ends of your hair around his knuckle as he gently pulled, causing your head to draw back. you softly gasped at the feeling as chris pressed his body against yours, his cock brushing against your ass as he leaned over your back. pressing another kiss against your neck, he held his hand beneath your mouth “help me out, yeah princess?” he groaned as you got the hint, letting a trail of spit fall into his fingers.
“atta girl” he cooed, his hand letting go of your hair as he stood up straight, wrapping his wet fingers around the base of his cock, giving a few pumps with a groan.
four minutes
chris’ free hand finding your body again as he gently pulled your hips back, lining himself up with your entrance, your elbows still against the countertop as he looked down at you through the mirror. “keep those pretty little eyes on me, alright?” he nodded his head before sinking his cock between your folds, without warning, causing an airy gasp to rip from your throat. your eyebrows knitting together with pleasure as his did the same, your lips immediately falling open at the feeling of his cock shoving tight between your walls.
you breathed out, your breath shaky as your hands gripped the sink to hold yourself steady. “oh my g-“ you moaned before feeling chris pound his hips into your ass, his cock burying deeper as he ripped another gasp from your lips, your tone airy and harsh.
“chris” you moaned as he wrapped both of his hands around your body, sinking your hips down onto his cock as he pushed his forward, falling into a rythm, completely fucking into you from behind.
you looked up at him through the mirror, both of your eyebrows knit together at the feeling, your walls nice n’snug around his cock. “so fuckin’ tight, feels perfect” he groaned to himself, his fingers gently digging into your skin as he looked down at your reflection through hooded lids, his eyes darkened over with lust.
his attention trailing down your back, your muscles flexing at the cardio as he trailed a hand down your spine, over the ribbon he had perfectly laced just minutes ago. pressing his hand farther down into your back as your chest pressed against the countertop, your tits pushed up on your chest. finally landing on your ass as he smacked his hand over your skin, his fingers gripping tight as you winced under your breath, your eyes squeezing shut.
slightly leaning forward over your back, his free hand reached around your shoulder to wrap his fingers around the front of your neck, pulling your chest up as he looked at you through the mirror. “that’s it, pretty girl, just like that” he groaned, talking you through it as his breath fell hot against your skin, his mouth lingering over your shoulder as he stared at your reflections.
watching the way your features scrunch up, fucked out, in the mirror as his cock only buried deeper in this position. his grip around your throat steady as his other hand held onto your hip, continuing to pull you back onto his dick as his bare hips slapped against your skin.
three minutes
“chris, jesus” you moaned softly as his eyebrows furrowed, slightly out of concentration and confusion “what’s a matter princess?” he grunted in a low tone, watching your every move in the mirror as he continued to pound into you from behind, causing your face to inch closer to the glass with every thrust. the sound of muffled music and your skin slapping against each other filling the room.
reaching his arm beneath your hips, he let his hand squeeze between your thighs as the tips of his fingers brushed over your clit, causing your legs to shudder at the feeling, your chest immediately falling against the counter with a loud whine. “fuck, chris—“ you cried, biting your bottom lip to suppress the sound of your moans filling the air.
“they can’t hear us up here” he groaned quietly, as he was right, the bathroom far from the rest of the party and the the music so loud, you could barely hear the person next to you.
“let me hear you make those pretty lil’ noises f’me” he encouraged, using his hand around your throat to pull your chest back up towards him, forcing you to watch yourself in the mirror, his breath ragged as his eyes remained fixed on your reflection.
slowly standing up straight, his fingers still around your throat and the other rubbing out circles against your clit, mentally taking an image of every inch of your body bent over the counter like this for him. your tits bouncing back and forth as he fucked you from behind, your face scrunching up so pretty when he hit your sweet spot.
you nodded your head through continuous breathy, whiny, moans as chris let go of his grip around your throat, causing your chest to fall forward, your cheek pressing against the counter top. using his hand to find your hip again, he held your body steady as your legs began to tremble under the pressure building in your stomach.
two minutes
“chris, i’m gonna cum, i can’t, please” you moaned, your cheek still pressed against the countertop as he watched you intently from behind.
his hand wrapped around your hip as he forcefully pushed his hips into you, your lower half repeatedly hitting the edge of counter “yeah? y’wanna cum for me?” he groaned, his tone hanging arrogant and heavy as the sound of your pleas only made him screw into you harder, wanting to hear you beg.
you watched as he fucked you through the mirror, his cheeks flushed and the brunette wavy hairs slicking to his forehead with sweat as it brushed over his eyes. his expression intense as the look in your eyes, pupils dilated and moans rolling off your parted lips, only making him want to fill you up even more.
you nod your head as his eyes were fixed on you, using the hand around your hip to palm your ass with a smack, eliciting a soft whimper from you. “say it, pretty girl, let me hear you” he groans, his fingers gripping the plush skin of your ass. your lips fall open, moaning out through short and quick breaths “i’m gonna cum chris, please — please, let me cum” you beg, your tone rising and falling in sync with the force of every thrust, tears of pleasure beginning to form in your eyes.
his fingers continue to rub circles against your raw clit, really trying to drive you over the edge now as your cries only work him up even more, paying no mind to them out loud “goddamn, you look so hot takin’ my dick like that” he breathed out, his voice low and sensual “good girl, doing so so good f’me, so tight around me” he groaned with a hiss as the sensitivity around his cock heightened, pounding into you and showing no signs of wavering.
your eyes practically rolling back in your head as you squeezed them shut, your thighs also squeezing around his hand as you couldn’t handle the overstimulation much longer.
“chris” you breathed out heavily one last time “chris, oh my god, i’m gonna cum” you moaned as his hands now trailed down your body, both of them meeting your hips as he used all his force to thrust into you.
“let go baby, go ‘head, cum for me” he groaned under his breath, taking everything in him not to cum at the mere sight of your face, so pretty, just inches from the mirror as he pounded into you.
his eyes down on your ass now as he watched his cock disappear, in and out, between your folds. his hand blindly trailing up to grip your shoulder for leverage, causing your back to arch farther into the counter as he pulled you down on him with force.
his cock finally hitting the spot to make you lose all your senses with a loud whine escaping past your lips as your fingers gripped the sink, your knuckles nearly turning white.
“chris” you cried, loudly, your eyebrows screwing together as you reached your climax, your back arching completely into the counter as the pressure in your stomach snapped, your eyes squeezing shut.
“that’s it princess” he groaned, the instant warmth of your orgasm pushing him near the edge as he continued to thrust into you, your cheek brushing back and forth against the countertop as he fucked you through the euphoric wave crashing over your body.
chris muttering curse words under his breath as his hand smoothed down your back, running his fingers over the laced ribbon down your spine. holding your hips tightly between his fingers as he continued to pull your limp weight against him.
“fuck, i’m gonna cum” he grunts quietly, his face concentrated as he tries to hold out for a few more seconds.
“inside, baby, cum inside, please” you plead, your tone shaky as he continues to pound into you “yeah? want me inside? want me to fill up that pretty lil’ pussy?” he groans, his voice hoarse as his thrusts become sharper and quicker, his eyes glued on you.
“please” you cry as he holds your hips steady, his fingers digging into your skin before finally snapping with that one last word, “shit—” he hisses, his eyes closing shut, quickly burying his hips into your ass, causing your body to hit the edge of countertop, your hips surely bruised from the impact by now.
a gruff groan escaping past his lips as he continues to roll his hips into you, lazily now as he obeys your commands, his cock twitching as his seed completely fills you up.
“fuck” he groans, his eyes fluttering open as his gaze is down on you through the mirror with a smug grin, his eyes roaming down the back of your body folded over on the countertop in front of him.
your chest rising and falling with every breath, trying to gain your composure as your mind is clouded with the orgasm still working it’s way through your system.
his hand gently smacking your ass as you wince again softly, eliciting a soft chuckle from chris. slowly pulling out, his cock falls limp against his thigh as he leans over your back, your chest still pressed against the counter as you try to catch your breath.
pulling his jeans back up over his waist, he quickly fixes his belt before chuckling again at the sight of your body limp over the sink.
“alright, c’mere party girl” he groans, his lips next to your ear as he quickly adjusted the fitted hat on his head, wrapping his arms beneath your body, around your waist as he slowly pulls your chest up straight.
you manage to stand up straight as he uses his hands to pull your skirt back down properly over your hips, smoothing over the wrinkles in the fabric he caused.
your back falling against his chest as he wrapped his arms securely around your waist, his biceps flexing as he holds you upright, your legs practically mush at this point.
resting his chin on your shoulder, he watches you through the mirror in admiration before pressing a kiss against your exposed shoulder.
“how you feelin’ princess? fresh love boy make your night any better now?” he chuckles softly, his tone cocky as he mocks your words from earlier. staring up at your reflection egotistically while his lips hover over your skin, trailing up your neck damp with sweat.
still not able to speak, barely even able to form a coherent thought as you nod your head, causing him to chuckle even more. “how much time we got left?” he whispers, his mouth now lingering near your ear as you watch him through the mirror, your hand lazily trailing into the back of his hair beneath his hat.
your arm wearily reaching forward to press the home screen, revealing he had plenty of time to spare — as you now realized, he only needed five minutes to make you cum.

I got about 1.5 more hours of sleep last night than the night before, so why am I more tired today than I was yesterday?
#my post#blog#sleep#it's not fair is it#i'm not sure how my watch is supposed to know this but it looks like i woke up from rem sleep#i wonder if that has something to do with it#but really. how does it know what stage of sleep i'm in? is it just guessing based on heart rate?#it's not like it can get an eeg reading from my wrist#i looked it up. it's a combination of heart rate. blood oxygen. and movement#but still no telling how accurate it really is compared to a legit sleep study#to be fair i'm not sure how accurate sleep studies are either. i mean. i'm sure they're accurate for that night but not for overall trends#if you've never done one let me tell you: you are probably not actually going to sleep that well#you've got all the wires hooked up to your chest and head and the little pulse oximeter on your finger#you can't really move because they'll come off or you'll get tangled up#and then there's the light from all the equipment. it's not bright of course but it's not exactly dark either#and that's not even mentioning that you instinctively just don't sleep as well when you're in a new place#an apple watch or a fitbit is obviously way less intrusive#(if you were wondering. i had to do a sleep study before i had a tonsillectomy. they weren't infected. they were just really big...#...so they did the sleep study to find out if they were causing obstructive sleep apnea)#love when the tags are more than twice as long as the actual post lol#guess that means i should stop talking and go to bed huh

Max Verstappen x interior designer!Reader
Summary: Max Verstappen is the most frustrating client you’ve ever dealt with … but maybe he can make it up to you
Tumblr media
“How about some pops of color in here?” You suggest brightly, gesturing around the stark white walls of Max Verstappen’s new Monaco penthouse.
The Dutch driver sniffs, glancing up briefly from his phone. “No thanks. I like it plain.”
You resist the urge to roll your eyes. Of course he does. You’ve been working with Max for two weeks now trying to decorate his new home, but so far he’s shot down every single idea you’ve proposed.
As an interior designer based in a principality known for catering to the rich and famous, you’re used to difficult clients, but Max may just take the cake. Still, you’re determined to give him the space he desires … if you can only figure out what that is.
“Alright, plain it is,” you say evenly. “But we should at least add some artwork, don’t you think? Something modern and sleek could look fantastic against these walls.”
Max doesn’t even glance up this time. “No art. Don’t like it.”
You inhale slowly. “Okay, no problem. We’ll keep it artless.” Time to switch gears. You gesture to the expansive bank of windows along one wall. “These floor-to-ceiling windows are incredible, some of the best views in Monaco. We could do some fabulous seating here to take advantage of the natural light. Maybe a chaise lounge or two angled toward the harbor ...”
“Don’t need seating.” Max is focused on his phone, thumbs flying. “I’ll just put my sim rig there.”
Your eye twitches involuntarily. His racing simulator setup — in front of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the most coveted views in the principality? Absolutely not.
“Well,” you begin delicately, “Perhaps we could find another place for your sim, one that doesn’t obstruct the views quite so much. I’m sure we could-”
“No, I want it there,” Max interrupts flatly. “I like seeing the water while I drive.” His attention doesn’t waver from the screen in his hands.
You close your eyes briefly and take a calming breath. Alright. No color, no art, and a sim smack in front of priceless views. So much for design aesthetics. Time for a new tactic.
“You must do a lot of cooking,” you say brightly, turning towards the kitchen. “This is an amazing culinary space. We could do some open shelving with sleek finishes to highlight the quartz countertops.”
Silence. Max just gives a non-committal grunt, still absorbed by his phone.
You soldier on. “Or maybe some nice warm wood cabinetry for contrast? I have some fantastic artisan contacts who could do handmade custom designs.”
“Don’t cook much,” he mutters.
Your smile tightens. “Not to worry, we can keep the kitchen minimal too.” Is there anything, anything at all, you can propose that he won’t immediately shoot down? You’re starting to doubt it.
Switching to the living area, you smooth down your dress and try again. “For the living room, I was thinking we could do built-in bookcases along the back wall there, and maybe expose some of the original brick behind for an industrial chic look ...”
Max glances up from his phone to level an unimpressed look at you. “But we’re inside. Brick would make no sense.”
You close your eyes briefly. Of course not. “My mistake, you’re absolutely right,” you say through gritted teeth. Enough pussyfooting around. Time to be direct.
You plant yourself in front of where Max sits on the couch and place your hands on your hips. “Max, I’m going to be honest. I’m having trouble getting a sense of your style and vision for this space. You’ve rejected all my ideas so far.”
He blinks up at you blandly. “I don’t like any of your ideas. This is my place and I want to do what I want.”
You resist the urge to tear your hair out in frustration. “Of course, and I want you to have exactly what you want. But in order to do that, I need you to communicate with me. Tell me what kind of look and feel you envision for your home. Modern, traditional, minimalist? What colors and textures appeal to you?”
Max just shrugs, his attention already drifting back to his phone. “I don’t know. Just make it nice.”
Oh for god’s sake. You inhale slowly through your nose. “Perhaps you could show me some inspiration photos of interiors you like?”
“Nah, don’t feel like it.”
That’s it. You’ve had it with this infuriating man. You know you shouldn’t lose your cool with a client, but you’re at the end of your rope.
“Well, I’m afraid ‘make it nice’ doesn’t give me much to go on,” you snap sarcastically. “I can’t read your mind, Max. So unless you start providing concrete input on what you actually want, I’m resigning from this job.”
You expect anger, or at least surprise at your outburst. But Max just regards you evenly for a moment, then nods. “Okay, fair enough. The truth is ...” He pauses, looking faintly embarrassed. “I just wanted an excuse to spend more time around you.”
You blink, blindsided. “I’m sorry, what?”
A slight flush rises in Max’s cheeks. “I didn’t actually care about the decor that much. I just thought if I kept saying no to all your ideas, you’d have to stay involved with the project longer.” He gives you a sheepish smile. “Guess I took the stubborn client thing too far.”
You’re dumbfounded. And, if you’re being honest, a little charmed. “Let me get this straight — you’ve been wasting my time and driving me crazy for two weeks because you … have a crush on me?”
Max winces. “When you put it like that, I sound like an idiot.”
You have to laugh. “A bit, yeah.” But you can’t help but feel a warm flutter in your stomach too. You’ve always thought Max was cute in a boyish way. Knowing he orchestrated this whole thing just to spend time with you is, admittedly, very flattering. And more than a little endearing.
Max rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. “Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to be difficult on purpose. I just ...” He trails off with a helpless little shrug.
You take pity on him. Yes, leading you on a wild goose chase of rejected designs was unprofessional. But the hesitant smile he’s giving you now tugs at your heartstrings anyway.
“Well, I appreciate you coming clean,” you say gently. “How about we start fresh? I’d love to actually get your real input now on what you want.”
His smile widens, grey eyes lighting up. “Yeah?”
You can’t help but smile back. “On one condition.”
He nods eagerly. “Name it.”
“You take me to dinner.” You arch an eyebrow. “To make up for the stress you caused me over the past two weeks.”
Max lets out a surprised bark of laughter. “Deal.” He shakes his head ruefully. “I really made a mess of this, didn’t I?”
“Little bit, yeah.” You grin to soften the reproach. “Next time just ask me out for a drink. It’s a much more straightforward approach.”
“Duly noted.” He smiles sheepishly.
You move to sit next to him on the couch. “So tell me honestly, what kind of look are you picturing for this place?”
Max considers the blank canvas of a space. “Honestly, I’m open to anything you suggest. I trust your taste — I’ve seen your work before and it’s amazing.” His eyes meet yours. “But I do definitely want my sim rig with a view. That part wasn’t a lie.”
You laugh. “We can make that work.” Your gaze travels over the strong lines of his face, the mussed brown hair, the wry curve of his smile that makes your heart beat faster.
As you begin sketching possible layout options, you make a mental note to clear your schedule for dinner soon. Very soon.
***
“Well, this is … quite a space,” you say diplomatically as the hostess leads you and Max to your table.
You’re immediately assaulted by a riot of clashing colors and patterns as your gaze darts around the trendy restaurant he’s brought you to for dinner. Your trained designer’s eye picks out aesthetic atrocities everywhere you look.
An art deco mirror topped by an incongruous ultra-modern light fixture. Fussy rococo chairs paired with sleek metal tables. And dear god, is that shag carpeting?
“Yes, Le Chat Noir is very popular right now,” Max agrees, seemingly oblivious to the decor travesties surrounding you.
You hold your tongue as the hostess seats you. The haphazard decor choices are an assault on your senses, but you don’t want to seem rude on your first date with Max.
A server appears to take your drink orders. You welcome the distraction, busying yourself with the wine list. But as soon as he departs, Max leans forward, an amused glint in his eyes.
“Alright, I know that look. Out with it — what do you really think?”
You bite your lip. “What do you mean?”
He gestures broadly around. “Of all this.”
You hesitate. “The decor is certainly … interesting.”
Max grins. “I can tell you absolutely hate it.”
You wince. Damn, he’s perceptive. And here you were trying so hard to remain poker-faced.
“Sorry,” you say with an embarrassed laugh. “I was attempting to refrain from judgment, but it appears I failed.”
“No need to apologize.” He settles back in his chair. “Please, critique away. I want to hear your professional opinion.” His eyes dance with humor. “Don’t hold back.”
Well, far be it from you to turn down an invitation like that. As your drinks arrive, you take a fortifying sip of wine before launching in.
“Alright, you asked for it.” You set the glass down firmly. “This space is an absolute disaster from a design perspective. It’s like the interior decorator was blindfolded and threw darts at a wall covered in paint swatches and fabric samples. Nothing goes together at all.”
You point above your table. “That light fixture up there? Ultrasmack modern against 19th century crown molding? Make it make sense.”
Max chuckles. “Quite the mashup.”
You lean forward, on a roll now. “And this carpet!” You gesture in horror to the shag beneath your feet. “This trend needs to retire immediately. It looks like an avocado fucked a bear.”
Max nearly chokes on his drink. “A what now?”
You wave a hand. “You know what I mean. Just tragic.”
Sitting back, you take in the rest of the garish space. “The artwork over there is just hideous. And that tufted velvet on the booths makes me want to scream. Who decided olive green was an accent color that pairs well with anything?”
You turn back to Max, on a tirade now. “Honestly, nothing works. The proportions are bad, the color palette is an atrocity, the mixture of styles is absurd. It’s like the designer threw every conceivable element at the wall to see what would stick. I could have done a better job blindfolded after downing a bottle of tequila.” You finally stop for breath, cheeks flushed.
Max has an enormous grin on his face. “Wow. Tell me how you really feel.”
You roll your eyes, but can’t help smiling too. “Sorry for the outburst. Like I said, feel free to tell me to zip it.”
“Are you kidding? I could listen to you shred this place all night.” Max shakes his head, looking delighted. “I’ve never seen you so worked up. It’s adorable.”
You blush, smoothing your hair self-consciously. “Oh hush. I just have … strong opinions when it comes to interior design choices.”
“Clearly.” Max’s eyes positively dance with affection. “I love how passionate you are. And your criticisms are spot on. This place really is horrendously designed.”
You blink in surprise. “Wait, you actually agree? You’re not just humoring me?”
He snorts. “Absolutely not. My knowledge doesn’t come remotely close to yours, but even I can tell everything in here clashes hideously.” He gestures at the table. “I mean, a wooden chair back with a metal seat? Just pick one material!”
You grin, happiness blossoming in your chest. It’s such a treat to have him validate your expert opinions instead of just patronizing them like many dates would. You launch eagerly back into listing all the ways the restaurant decor offends you, with Max chiming in occasional agreement or egging you on for more.
By the time your food arrives, you’ve dissected the lighting, furniture, textiles, and color schemes within an inch of their lives. Max watches you intently the whole time, blatantly enraptured by your critiques. Your wine glass is nearly empty from all the gesticulating.
“Well, I think that covers all the ways this interior design should be illegal,” you conclude, taking a bite of your meal. “Thanks for indulging me. I know I can get carried away analyzing spaces.”
“I could listen to you trash talk bad design forever.” Max can’t seem to rip his eyes away from yours. “I love how opinionated you are. And you look so damn sexy getting all fired up about it.”
A pleasurable shiver runs through you at his heated look. Maybe ripping this restaurant to shreds wasn’t the most conventional date conversation, but it clearly impressed Max. Nothing like a shared hatred of garish decor to bring two people together.
“Well, I’m glad one of us enjoys these tirades,” you laugh. You cock your head coyly. “Maybe I could come over sometime outside of work and critique your place again now that it’s shaping up. I’m sure I can find a few more things to complain about.”
Max’s eyes darken. “I’d like that.” He leans forward with a roguish smile. “Maybe we can get out of here and you can tell me all the ways you’d redesign the bedroom in my current apartment. You know, so we can avoid making those mistakes again while you help decorate my bedroom in the penthouse.”
You nearly choke on your wine, heat flooding your face. And lower regions. Goodness, Max’s flirty side really brings out your inner vixen.
You recover and stroke his ankle lightly with your heel under the table. “I’d be happy to provide any hands-on design consultation you require.”
Max sucks in a sharp breath, eyes blazing. The temperature between you two has risen about fifty degrees in the last few seconds. Suddenly you want nothing more than to leave this horribly designed restaurant and get him alone.
Immediately.
***
“A good mattress is crucial for proper sleep and recovery,” Max declares as you walk into the upscale furniture store together. “We need to test them thoroughly.”
You allow him to lead you to the mattress section, hiding a smile. When Max asked you to come mattress shopping with him for his new bedroom, you’d naively thought it would be a quick errand. But knowing Max, you should have guessed he’d take the task of “testing” mattresses very seriously.
An eager salesperson appears. “Welcome! Are we looking for any mattress in particular today?”
“We want to try them all,” Max announces, eyeing the rows of display beds keenly.
The salesperson falters. “Er, all of them?”
“How else will we know which is best?” Max shrugs as if this is obvious.
You squeeze his arm, charmed by his matter-of-fact logic. The salesperson forces a professional smile.
“Of course, take all the time you need.” He gestures expansively at the floor models. “I’ll be right here if you have any questions.”
“Excellent.” Max wastes no time striding over to the nearest bed. He sits, then lies back experimentally. “Hmm, decent firmness.” He pats the empty space beside him. “Come try it out.”
You curl up next to him, hiding your smile at the salesperson’s raised eyebrows. When you said you’d help Max pick out a mattress, this wasn’t what you pictured. But you have to admit, lying here with him is fun.
Max frowns. “Too much motion transfer when you move.” He sits up abruptly. “Next!”
You have to smother a laugh as you follow him to the next display. This no-nonsense methodism is peak Max. Systematic and entertainingly stubborn.
At the second bed, Max immediately starfishes spread-eagle. “Well? Get over here and test it with me. It’s the only way we’ll know.” He pats the mattress insistently.
You note the salesperson observing this display with thinly veiled disapproval. But Max just looks so irresistibly eager, you can’t help but indulge him.
You crawl onto the bed and cuddle up to him happily. “Mmm, this one’s nice. Great hugability.” You pretend to grab Max in a koala hold.
He laughs. “Agreed, good hugging potential.” Wrapping his arms around you, he shifts experimentally. “But the bounce is all wrong.” He releases you and sits up. “Next!”
And so it goes for the next hour as you enthusiastically demo mattress after mattress with Max. You try them on your backs, sides, fronts, analyzing the firmness levels and motion transfer. At one point you even test out the edge support — whatever that is — with Max insisting you sit together on the very side of the mattress frame.
“Considerable sag here,” Max murmurs against your ear, his arm firmly around your waist. You have to hide your shiver at his warm breath so close. “Could be problematic.”
The salesperson looks like he’s one demo away from throwing you both out. But Max either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care. He cheerfully drags you from bed to bed, ticking off pros and cons on his fingers.
“Decent lumbar support, but it sleeps too hot.”
“Great responsiveness, but poor motion isolation.”
You’re having the time of your life. Testing mattresses was benign enough, but the excuse to crawl into bed with Max over and over has you both giddy. Each demo seems to involve increasingly creative configurations of your interlocked bodies as you evaluate firmness and ergonomics.
“I’m just not sure this is a good fit,” Max eventually concludes, frowning up at you from where you straddle his hips. His hands rest casually on your thighs, as if finding yourself atop a handsome man in a public place is perfectly routine mattress research.
You smother a laugh and climb off. “Valid analysis. Though some of the testing scenarios still need more data, I’d say.” You shoot him a coy look.
Max grins. “Agreed. Further testing required.”
The salesperson pointedly avoids looking at you both. “Perhaps you’d like to narrow down your top choices? I’m sure you have plenty of notes by now.” There’s a tautness to his professionalism that suggests you’ve stretched his patience to its limit.
But Max seems oblivious. We’re not done yet! There are still at least half a dozen models we haven’t tried.” He takes your hand, pulling you toward a plush, pillow-topped display. “Now this one looks perfect for spooning. You little spoon first this time ...”
Mattress testing with Max, you’ve learned, is a delightful mix of structured analysis and shameless flirtation. You can’t remember ever having so much fun shopping. And based on Max’s boyish smile and lingering touches, the feeling is mutual.
“Too much dip in the middle,” Max tuts later, rolling you both gently across yet another mattress surface. “Though the close contact isn’t terrible.” His low voice in your ear makes you shiver.
You grin up at him coyly. “We should do an in-depth pressure point analysis next.”
Max smirks. “Crucial data to collect.”
Eventually, however, even Max’s enthusiasm starts to wane. “I think we have sufficient consumer testing results now,” he decides, pulling you up to sit beside him on the edge of a low platform bed.
You laugh. “That poor salesperson was ready to toss us out an hour ago.”
“Hey, we were conducting necessary R&D!” Max’s grey eyes twinkle. “But I am rather tired now ...”
He lies back, resting his head in your lap. You automatically begin stroking his hair and he sighs, eyes slipping closed. You take the opportunity to admire how sweet he looks, lips slightly parted and lashes fanned on his cheeks. Testing mattresses all afternoon seems to have worn him out.
You lean down to murmur in his ear. “Ready to take this mattress research home to really compare notes?”
One grey eye peeks open. “Mmm, home analysis does sound optimal.” His voice is raspy with fatigue in a way that melts you. “Wake me when it’s time to go?”
You brush a soft kiss to his forehead. “Of course.”
He nuzzles into your lap with a contented noise. Watching his breath deepen into sleep, you feel your heart overflow. There are a thousand reasons you adore Max, but these unexpectedly tender moments might top them all.
The salesperson reappears, offering you a pained smile. “So were you able to decide on a mattress today?”
You grin, fingers still carding through Max’s hair. “You know, I think we need to sleep on it a little longer.”
***
“Well, what do you think?” Max gestures with pride around his freshly competed penthouse.
You take it all in — the sleek but cozy furniture, the warm lighting, the pops of color — and smile. “It’s perfect. You have an incredible home now.”
He wraps an arm around your waist, gazing around. “I really couldn’t have done it without you. This place was a disaster before you came along.”
You lean into him happily. It’s been months since you first met Max and began working with him on decorating his new space. It was a battle at times, but you’re immensely proud of the final result.
“I’m honored I could help bring your vision to life,” you say sincerely. Though if you’re honest, the best part of this project was getting to know Max himself. The way his smile makes your heart flutter hasn’t diminished one bit.
Max turns you to face him, his expression soft. “I didn’t just get a beautifully designed home out of this. I got you.”
Your breath catches at the open affection in his eyes. Before you can respond, he dips his head and kisses you tenderly. You melt against him, the feel of his lips erasing any coherent thought.
When he finally draws back, his eyes are darker. “You know, there’s still one part of the place we haven’t officially christened yet.” He cocks his head toward the bedroom.
You bite your lip, pulse already quickening. “Is that so? Well, we should definitely perform a final inspection to confirm everything meets our standards.”
Max grins wolfishly, pulling you toward the bedroom. “Thorough testing is required.”
You laugh as he tugs you down onto the plush king mattress you’d finally agreed on after extensive “research.” The two of you bounce slightly from the momentum, causing you both to dissolve into giggles.
“Well, motion transfer still seems acceptable,” you quip. Max chuckles and silences you with another heated kiss.
You hum approvingly as his hands begin to roam your body. “Mmm, responsiveness is excellent too ...”
Clothes are quickly shed as you reacquaint yourselves with each other’s forms. When you’re finally skin-to-skin, Max sighs in satisfaction.
“I’ve been waiting months to get you in this bed.” His voice is low and gravelly in a way that makes you shiver.
“It was the longest mattress testing phase ever,” you breathe as his lips kiss down your neck.
Max laughs against your shoulder. “Worth it though, right?”
In answer, you flip him onto his back, straddling his hips. “Absolutely.”
You take your time exploring each other, hands and mouths worshiping every inch. Until late afternoon sun filters through the curtains, bathing the room in an almost ethereal glow.
When Max finally sinks into you, you moan softly at the exquisite fullness. “Oh yes, this mattress has great ergonomics,” you sigh dreamily.
Max huffs a laugh, his chest vibrating against yours. “I’ll be sure to mention that in my product review.”
You grin and shift your hips experimentally, making him groan. “The responsiveness really is top-notch.”
“We should still test a few more positions though,” Max murmurs. “Just to be thorough.”
You happily comply, indulging in acrobatic mattress testing that leaves you both blissfully satisfied and out of breath. As you lay tangled together afterwards, endorphins still flooding your systems, Max presses a kiss to your shoulder.
“Well, I’d say the new bed passes inspection with flying colors,” he declares with sleepy satisfaction.
You laugh and stroke his hair. “Agreed. You chose an excellent mattress.” You snuggle closer. “Though the company in it is what I really enjoy.”
Max tightens his arms around you. “Think you can put up with me and my high-maintenance decor demands a while longer?” His voice holds a vulnerable note beneath the teasing.
Your heart swells and you cup his face. “Max Verstappen, I’ll critique mattresses and furniture with you any day. As long as at the end of it, I get to fall asleep next to you.”
His smile outshines the lowering sun. “Deal.”
***
“You know what I love most about how our place looks now?” Max murmurs, his arms wrapped around you on the couch.
You tear your eyes from the awful reality show you’re watching to glance up at him. “Hmm?”
His gaze sweeps over the living room, a small smile on his lips. “All the little touches that are just so you.”
You follow his look around the penthouse that over the past year has transformed from Max’s bachelor pad to your shared home. It’s still sleek and modern overall, but with warm accents reflecting both your styles.
And yes, you realize, your personal influence shows in the decor now that you live here full time. The mugs hung on hooks in the kitchen, the plush blankets tossed artfully on the chairs, the bowls of sea glass collected from beach walks that adorn the tables.
Your heart swells looking at the traces of yourself woven into Max’s space. “It does feel more like home now, doesn’t it?”
Max nods, dropping a kiss to your hair. “It’s perfect. I love coming back after a race and being surrounded by reminders of you.”
You snuggle deeper into his embrace, incredibly touched. “Well, I promise to keep leaving my clutter around to make you feel at home.”
He chuckles. “Please do. It’s my favorite kind of clutter.”
Smiling softly, you think back to when you first started dating Max after working on his penthouse makeover. Who could have guessed that would lead to sharing this life together?
Your gaze lands on a shelf displaying photos of the two of you, and your throat grows tight. There’s you and Max laughing on vacation, kissing right after he won his fourth world championship, curled up with hot chocolate on a ski trip. So many beautiful memories.
“It’s hard to remember what this place even looked like before,” you murmur. And not just the decor — it’s hard to recall your life before Max.
He rubs your shoulder idly, eyes faraway. “I know what you mean. It’s like you’ve always been here.” His voice holds a note of wonder.
You lift your head to meet his gaze. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Max’s eyes shine. He bends to kiss you, soft and heartfelt. Your lips curve against his.
When you reluctantly draw back, the television screen catches your eye. You cringe at the fake drama unfolding.
“Ugh, this show is terrible,” you groan. “Can we watch something else?”
Max grins and grabs the remote, flipping through channels. He eventually lands on a home renovation program you both enjoy analyzing and critiquing together. Some things never change.
You settle in eagerly as the show starts, scrutinizing the design choices. Max wraps an arm around you, idly playing with your hair as you watch.
Despite the show’s flaws, being curled up with Max like this fills you with utter contentment. You can’t imagine anything better than coming home to his smile and laugh each day.
During commercials, you fetch snacks from the kitchen, navigating the space with ease. Max trails behind to steal bites, ever drawn to food.
You swat his hand away from the chocolate you’re preparing and laugh. “Get your paws off, those are for sharing!”
Max just tugs you close and kisses the protest from your lips. You happily let him devour the sweetness from your mouth instead, the chocolate forgotten.
Finally you collapse back on the couch together, munching and critiquing the show’s poor tile work. Max throws popcorn for you to catch, his aim as impressive as his racing lines.
Your eyes droop as the evening wears on. The cozy penthouse, tasty snacks, and Max’s warmth — it’s the perfect recipe for relaxation.
When your head nods against Max’s shoulder for the third time, he chuckles and clicks the tv off. “Alright sleepyhead, time for bed.”
You make a half-hearted noise of protest but let him pull you up. Max keeps an arm securely around you as he leads the way to the bedroom, knowing you’re prone to stumbling when tired. It makes you feel so cared for.
He even helps you change into your nightgown, his hands impossibly gentle. As you finally crawl under the blankets, you let out a massive yawn.
“Night Maxie,” you mumble, already mostly asleep. He gathers you close and presses a kiss to your hair.
“Sweet dreams, liefje.” His voice is impossibly soft. You float away cradled in his warmth and the knowledge you’re home.
The next morning, you wake slowly to sunlight streaming in the windows and the smell of coffee. Stretching languorously, you take a moment just to soak it in.
Muffled sounds drift in from the kitchen signaling Max is already up and at ‘em. You smile sleepily. The man has the energy of a hyper puppy.
Before you can muster the will to leave bed, Max appears holding two mugs. “Morning schatje,” he greets with a smile. “Thought you might need some caffeine.”
You beam and make grabby hands until he passes you a mug. The rich aroma instantly perks you up.
Max slides in next to you, sipping his own coffee. His hair is adorably mussed and you gently smooth it down before cupping his face and bringing him in for a long, thorough good morning kiss.
When you finally separate, Max looks pleasingly dazed. “Well, that’s certainly one way to wake up.”
You grin cheekily and go back to your coffee. Max wraps an arm around you and you lean into his solid warmth, trading occasional lazy kisses between sips.
Sun streams over your entwined forms as you bask in contented silence. Eventually you stretch and make your way to the bathroom to start the day, dropping a kiss to Max’s hair as you pass.
You smile seeing your hairbrush by the sink, pink toothbrush next to Max’s blue one. Such small signs of your merged lives, but they mean the world.
Refreshed, you return to Max sprawled on the bed with his phone. He immediately opens his arms in clear demand for more cuddles. Laughing, you collapse into them happily.
Nuzzling into his chest, you sigh. “I know I was practically unconscious last night, but just wanted to say again how special it is having pieces of us both around the place now.”
Max’s arms tighten around you. “You being here makes it a home, not just an apartment.” His voice catches slightly. “Thank you for sharing it with me.”
You lift your head to meet his gaze, your own suddenly misty. No words can encapsulate what it means to build a life and home with this incredible man.
So you tell him silently instead, with a kiss overflowing with love and promise: I’ll stay by your side as long as I’m welcome.
Judging by Max’s arm anchoring you fiercely to him, that will be a good long while. You melt into his embrace, spirits soaring.
No fancy penthouse or perfect decor could compare to what you’ve found with Max — a home rooted in love, laughter, and devotion.
One look at his tender smile and you know he feels it too. This is everything.
So you’ll happily leave your mugs around the sink and blankets on the chairs, weaving threads of yourself into his space. With each passing day, it matters less whose belongings lie where.
Because home isn’t things — it’s the man gazing at you like you’re his whole world. And you know as long as you’re together, any place will feel just right.

♯┆fully introducing. . . shy!matt .ᐟ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
making you feel good is one of shy!matt's favourite things to do, whether that's using his tongue, fingers or cock — but he can't look at you when he does it.
matt's face is nuzzled in your neck as he lays on top of you, his warm breath fanning over your skin while he ruts his hips against yours, his cock pressing hard against the front of his sweatpants, the friction making you moan quietly.
frank ocean's 'nikes' plays softly from the speakers of his pc, filling the room with music, blending in with the sounds of pleasure that escape you from each roll of his hips.
his lips start to trail across your shoulder and collarbone, ringed hands gripping the hem of your shirt before quickly moving his head beneath the material, mouthing at your chest with pleased hums.
your back arches into his touch, happy to have gone braless when you feel his lips wrap around your nipple, sucking the sensitive bud into his mouth as his hand kneads the other — providing equal attention.
he's moving his lips south, trailing more kisses and light grazes of teeth down your stomach, and when you shirt slides from his head to reveal his fluffy hair and blue eyes, he's turning his head away.
"stop lookin' at me," he murmurs quietly as he sits on his knees between your parted legs, his hands smoothing up your thighs nervously. "stop. i — i can feel you lookin' at me."
"you're so cute," you say with a teasing tone, and you watch as matt's eyebrows knit together, shifting slightly. "matt, i'm..."
your words simmer, your gaze locked on matt as he settles on the bed, laying flat on his stomach and pulling the covers over him, obstructing him from your view.
you would find the lump beneath the covers amusing if it wasn't for your utter confusion, and you push yourself up to lean on your elbows, preparing to question him until you feel it.
he's staring at the wet patch on your underwear, his finger gently stroking over the damp material and he feels pleased when your legs twitch, and hears your gasp — the sound muffled from being under the covers.
matt keeps his thumb to your covered pussy as he rubs his face against your inner thighs, pressing kisses to the skin as he adjusts your legs on his shoulders, dragging you down closer to his face.
he keeps kissing your thighs for a moment until he suddenly turns his head, pressing his mouth to your pussy, his tongue pushing at the fabric.
he feels elevated when he hears you make a noise — a sharp intake of breathe before letting out a drawn out moan.
your thighs are squeezing around his head, and it takes matt a whole lot to not go through with the sudden urge of ripping the material in half. instead, he chooses to pull them to the side, revealing your glistening pussy.
he waits no time in putting his mouth back on you, dragging his tongue through your folds with gentle caresses before swirling around your clit and sucking, feeling your legs tremble at the sensation.
when his tongue prods at your hole, forcing its way inside, he's startled when he hears the rustle of the covers above his head — pausing all ministrations as he cautiously glances up, heat crawling up his neck and colouring his cheeks as he believes you're going expose him, but slowly begins to relax when he sees your hands, aiming for his hair.
"sorry," you mutter, rutting your hips against his face to entice him to continue. "needed to grab something. wanted to touch you."
"'s okay..." matt breathes out shakily before blowing cool air on your cunt, smiling shyly when he feels you shiver. "don't look, please. i can... i can make you feel good. i promise, okay? — just... don't look."
