Luna throughout the years

I’ve had Luna Sapphire since I was like 13. I first created her in late 2016 and was originally named Starlight.

First off is the very first sketch/digital drawing of Starlight/Luna. Before I used Ibis Paint as my main art program, I used this app called You Doodle. I don’t recommend it though.

I think Luna became anthro in early 2018? I just had to reference the Blue Bunny cursed ice cream bars.

And finally the one that people who’ve been following me for the past few years will probably recognize.

Mascot 5th Anniversary Post

Howdy-hey! Figured I'd post something different today! Today [August 20th, 2023] is special because it's the 5th anniversary of my online mascot, OG! He's gone through a lot since his first design, so I drew up every major version of him!

V1 [August 20th, 2018]

The first ever design of OG! I remember designing him while in my bedroom at a residental treatment center I was staying at! I was rebranding after a traumatic experience and wanted a new mascot. I came up with "TheOGEscargoon" because of my Escargoon phase. :P

Strong resemblense with the source material; I can see him being the most vulgar/unfiltered of the bunch.

V2 [Sept 2018]

I expanded on the original design, but added more to it. One of the more memorable designs in my opinion. Honestly, I like his outfit here; mainly the shirt! Still closely resembles the inspiration, but he lost the shell.

V3 [Jan 2019]

First version to include the snail stocks and shoes for some reason. Wanted to play around with the type of clothes he would wear; not sure why I thought about Peppa Pig Gucci of all things. Bro seems cool, very chill and carefree.

V4 [May 2019]

The date of this redesign is a bit fuzzy, but this version is a personal favourite! Swapped the Escargoon-ish facial hair with a simple goatee. Another outfit I love, might make this an alternate outfit along with V2 and V3. This was also around the time I rebranded to "OpalGalactic"

V5 [Sept 2019]

The first human design of him. I knew right away I wanted to make him a cyborg, but IDK what I was thinking with the weird face plating. Moving away from the main inspiration at this point, my least favourite design tbh. Around 2020, I rebranded again to my current username "OnyxGalaria"

V6 [Jul 2020]

Didn't like the color pallete/outfit of V5, so I made things make sense in a way with the colors and outfit choices. Getting closer to the latest version, but he still had that weird face plating that messed with the mouth placement a lot and I avoided bright colors like the plague.

V7 [Nov 2021]

One of the longest gaps for redesigns, but this is a top favourite! I remember really liking this design a lot, especially being proud of his prosthetic arm! :D Stuck with this design for a long while.

V8 [Feb 2023]

For some reason, I wanted to do another redesign for him. I think I wanted to go for a VTuber vibe with this one. Part of me still likes this version, but at the same time, I'm not sure why I decided to use this design for a while.

V7.5/9 [June 2023, current]

The current design of OG. I decided to combine the aspects I liked from V7 and V8 to make a happy medium I call V7.5! I'll be keeping this design for a long while [hopefully]!

Last art piece of 2022

2022 sucked for me, but I’m still alive! My OC Viktor, the one in this drawing, is probably my favorite OC right now, he’s come along way from his original characterization. Here’s hoping that we kick 2023 in the ass!!!

PROGRESS! AGAIN! Lordy I hate looking at the 2020 era of my art haha. Jesper's original design was created in August of 2020, although iirc I got the idea for his design a few months prior while I was going through my Will Wood phase. He's come a long way!

He's changed a little bit in personality thanks to the influence of the one and only Giovanni Potage - originally he straight up did not have empathy and he filled more of an actual villain role. Now he's a lot more fun and oftentimes he functions as an antagonist but he's really only a bad guy in the way Giovanni is a bad guy lmao.

It took a long time for me to add another color to his palette because I was really set on his original "blood moon" aesthetic, but honestly... not only does the addition look nicer, it's just so much more in character for him to wear 578390 colors. Anything to stand out as much as possible! Even so, I only convinced myself to finally do it once I decided to make Jaks (his crime partner) part rooster. I realized that adding any green/blue to Jaks would make him stand out way too much against Jes. Besides the green addition, I also lightened his entire color palette considerably because I was really inspired by red and gold theatrey colors. Funnily enough his gold/red palette that he had for a while was inspired by scenes of him I imagined to Black Parade songs, somehow.

I think the big thing that finally made him feel right (besides his nose and hair type of course) was the addition of the folk inspired elements. Now I could just be missing out on some niche design community here but it occurred to me that I've never really seen someone take tropes and elements of folk costumes and just... apply them to other things? So I was like, okay, critterkin are folk inspired, let's make Jesper a folk parody of a pirate/ringmaster thing. And it was so much fun! And I realized I could just continue to parody normal outfits with folk inspiration for his entire species' dress preferences. (And faefolk, since they take a lot of inspo from critterkin for lore reasons. For example Mikolaj is basically an Indiana Jones folk parody lmao).

I simplified Jesper's folk patterns down as much as I thought was reasonable for the ref, and it's still a lot, but for Jesper anything less than A Lot would be out of character haha. And I think honestly I did a really fantastic job not only making him look both circusy and piratey but blending both elements together in a cohesive way.

When I made the decision to animalify my ocs, Jesper was probably the hardest sell for me because I thought It meant I'd have to get rid of his long ears. That was until I searched up "long eared rodents", was reminded that jerboa existed, and became increasingly amused as I realized just how much they were actually made for each other. The long legs, the tail, the ears, the hunched over evil villain posture, the silliness, the meme potential. The fact they're so skittish and shy helped me finalize his backstory, too!

With every iteration he becomes increasingly Jespery. I want him to explode

I seen trends of old desing meets new so I try it, I remenber back them when I was 11 and my idea of cool was something cute but edgy, and drippy because nightmare sans and that shadow Slendietuby (and I may have an hyperfixation with tokoyami I guess?) This guy has many versions so im not sure of what year is he from so I guess I was 8 to 12 years old but I may be more recent,the idea of my old oc was simply a dark creature made from darkness that was not that scary and was sadistic but failed in doing anything, now it is a small but nice slime and has like actual ...you know history.

I used to wanted to put myself the name of "Lady of chaos" (or L.O.C) in my drawings and a cringe now, I also used the rainbow pencil in the 2ds to made characters "cooler",. i remenber how I took pictures of a pokemon guide book and edit my favorites and made some new forms in wich I put all the cool things I could in them and I invented the lore that it was the energy that was used for evolve being use for these forms so they cant evolve because of it (i could not draw the evolved pokemon that I liked but wanted an excuse), I also used to make sans aus and mostly fankids (that were basically fusions) , I like to think that im better now.
