So this is it - the final post of my Oliver Riedel 31 Days Idol Challenge. My top pick is this shot by Iver68 from the 2022 Europe Stadium Tour, where Oliver Riedel and Paul Landers are sharing a moment on the B-stage. One of the absolute highlights of the tour was how much fun the band seemed to have on stage, and this photo definitely captures that.
Bonus screenshots:
1) Oliver smiling in the Du hast music video.
2) Oliver smiling when captured by the police in the Ich will music video.
3) Oliver and Paul smiling when Till Lindemann's blue underpants show on the screen. From the Making of Rosenrot.
4) Oliver smiling at the footage of Till being beaten up. From the Making of Rosenrot.
5) Oliver smiling in the In Amerika documentary.
6) Oliver smiling in the Mein Land music video.
7) And finally - Oliver smiling after playing classical guitar in the shower - absolutely adorable.
And that's it, folks. Thank you for checking out my Oliver Riedel challenge. Until next time!

Picking a favourite quote is not so easy, but I landed on one from the Making of Reise, Reise where he and producer Jacob Hellner are listening to a passage from his bass track for Feuer und Wasser. One part is seemingly not played as planned:
Jacob Hellner: Sounds like a mistake in my ears.
Oliver Riedel: *chuckle* That's music.
Not only is it one of the few times Oliver has spoken English on camera, but I just love the implication of what he says - it's music, and music is not necessarily about doing everything perfectly. I agree so much with this. Often, it's the imperfections that make the music come to life!
Honourable mentions:
Oliver is often very to the point and answers questions factually and honestly. Though the man is actually really funny if the questions give room for it. It's such a shame that they most often weren't - and that he doesn't seem to give interviews anymore.
Oliver about accepting criticism and attacks:
«If it is justified, definitely. But if you are imprisoned because people saw Flake's butt, then absolutely not.»
Oliver about his nickname Orgien-Olli:
«There's a nice story to go with it. After the concerts, my band mates would rush off to parties - hoping to meet women. That wasn't really my cup of tea, so I usually went to the hotel alone. Once again it was such an evening. I arrived at the hotel and suddenly found myself surrounded by ten screaming female fans. My band was partying somewhere, but I had the women around me. What to do? I took them with me to the room and didn't know what to do with them. I'm not a womaniser. I turned on the TV, but that was kind of boring. I grabbed the ladies and took them to where the others were already partying - without women, of course. When we walked in, my band mates couldn't believe their eyes. Olli, secretly a ladies' man - the orgy Olli.»
Oliver about how to prepare for a Rammstein concert:
«Bring an umbrella, helmet, and fireproof clothing.»
Oliver about which jobs that make a woman attractive to a man:
«All creative professions such as fashion designer, painter, nurse, or tour guide in Iceland.»
Oliver about Eifersucht:
«A song in the old Rammstein style: Blunt and stupid.»
Oliver about noise:
«What do I miss? Silence. Before the concerts, I sit in the stadium showers and play flamenco on my acoustic guitar. Good acoustics. That is how I pick myself up, so to say. The hotels and restaurants are the worst. Everywhere there's drum'n'bass, house, it's all rattling, buzzing, chirping, looping. You can dance your way through these hotels, from your room through the hallway, the elevator, past the breakfast hall, and through the lobby out onto the street. Spinning around, bobbing your head, clapping your hands, grooving out. The horror.»
[@tinnike Note that I didn't add your favourite quote, so you can add it yourself in the comments!]

I chose today's pick because it's so casual, plus I'm quite fascinated by how Oliver's head almost hits the roof of the cars he is sitting in. The photo was posted by artiramm on Instagram.
Bonus material:
1) From the Deutschland music video. GIF by me.
2) We don't see a lot of the car, but Oliver preparing for wrecking havoc in Adieu is definitely a memorable moment. GIF by me.
3) Screenshot of the young and (not so) innocent Oliver, exiting the prison transport in the Ich will music video.

This challenge was pretty tricky. There aren't really that many photos that I know of that show Oliver reading. I already used one in the previous challenge, so I had to come up with something different for this one. The solution was this photo of Oliver, Paul, and Richard reading Rammstein clippings. I love how excited they all look, Richard is clearly enjoying the Olaf Heine photo of himself!
Bonus material:
1) Another photo of Oliver reading clippings, this time with Schneider and Flake.
2) A potato quality photo of Oliver sunbathing, with a little goodwill, he may or may not be reading.
3) The previously used photo of Oliver reading Sigmund Freud on a plane. Photo by Andreas Mühe.
4) At least the band members are pretending to read in this promo photo by Olaf Heine from 2001.

Right - so there aren't that many photos of Oliver Riedel actually naked. Luckily, photographer Andreas Mühe took pictures of all the band members in their birth suit in the US. Oliver's photo was taken in Winnipeg, 10.05.2012 about 14:32.
Bonus material:
1) Of course I can't get away from Matthias Matthies's photo from Mutter Tour, when Oliver tried to light his farts on fire.
2), 3), 4), and 5) Oliver isn't fully naked in Mann gegen Mann, but I guess we can call his hand wrap an accessory, and ignore the fact that he was actually wearing socks, boots, and sometimes skin coloured underwear.
6) From the Mann gegen Mann shoot, photo by Felix Broede.

Since @tinnike has made a new Idol Challenge and challenged me to do another Oliver Riedel one, I will of course oblige. Since I have done one before, I will try to pick new photos this time around.
31 Days Idol Challenge - Day 1: At the Airport
For the first day, I chose a photo that was posted in Rammstein's Photo Blog from 2013. The photo is probably taken by Paul Landers. While Oliver is small, I love the atmosphere of the photo, and that he's talking to Richard Z. Kruspe.
Bonus photo: Parts of Rammstein at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg, photo credit to Andy Bratz who posted it in his Instagram. I love how they have such wildly different clothing styles!
31 Days Idol Challenge - Day 28: Playing Alternative Instrument
Oliver Riedel was a classical guitarist when he met Richard Z. Kruspe in East Germany. Throughout the years, he has continued playing the acoustic guitar. He is a good guitarist, and he even learned to play flamenco. My top pick today is a video from Rammsteinfans Germany where you can hear and eventually also see Oliver playing classical guitar in the showers (because of the acoustics) - something he often does to relax before the shows. It's is absolutely beautiful. One of my biggest dreams (that of course will never happen) is to get to listen to Oliver play the acoustic guitar in the showers.
Bonus material:
1) Oliver playing guitar in the showers in 2022, by Jens Koch.
2) Oliver playing tuba in the Dicke Titten music video.
3) Oliver playing the alpine horn in the Dicke Titten music video.
4) Oliver playing drums with Schneider in Miraval, France. Unknown photographer, possibly Arne Weingart.
5) Oliver playing acoustic bass (and singing!) in the Engel music video. Yes, I know it is a bass, but I count the acoustic bass as something different from what he normally plays.
6) Oliver playing keyboards in the Radio music video.

You asked for Oliver Riedel cycling, I deliver Oliver Riedel cycling! In Klagenfurt, the bassist rode a bike from his hotel to Wörthersee Stadium. This was filmed by MeinBezirk.at who was waiting outside the hotel to try and get some footage of the band leaving.
Bonus photos:
1) Oliver Riedel and Paul Landers on bikes, with a fan, and possibly Oliver's dog.
2) And of course, Jens Koch's photo of the same two partners in crime, published in the Boston batch during the 2022 North American Stadium Tour.

Tinnike's 31 Days Idol Challenge
Day 1: At the Airport
Day 2: Barefoot
Day 3: Climbing
This pick may seem very random, but I really like this photo. It's probably taken by Paul Landers, as it was posted on the band's official website during the 2011-2012 Europa Tour. I really like how the band members are just walking around together, and how Oliver seems to be laughing.
Bonus material:
A lot of these photos are from the US, but that's because I tried to avoid the fan photos for this particular challenge.
1) Oliver and Flake in Inglewood 1998.
2) Bad photo of Oliver in Moscow 2002. Unknown photographer.
3) Tiny photo of Oliver somewhere in the US. Probably taken by Paul Landers.
4) Oliver on his balcony in San Antonio 2012. Probably taken by Paul Landers.
5) Oliver in Las Vegas. Photo by Olaf Heine.
6) Rammstein on Times Square in New York City. Photo by Todd Kaplan, scanned by Ezzy Davidson.

31 Days Idol Challenge - Day 22: In the Restaurant
One of my problems with this challenge is that many of the photos of the Rammstein members in restaurants seem to have been taken without their knowledge. That's a little bit creepy. The photo I have picked though, was taken in Gruyeres when Rammstein had dinner with H.R. Giger. It was posted by carlosarenas1971 on Instagram. I love the look on Oliver's face.
Bonus material:
1) This first photo here with a fan is just funny. Oliver looks great, Paul is totally blown out by the sun, Flake has the most judging face ever as he probably wanted to finish his cake in peace, and Schneider is trying to look like a serious rock star or something. It's awesome.
2) Photo from perhaps not a restaurant, but of Oliver, former manager Emanuel Fialik, Paul Landers, and Christoph Schneider in an eating situation during their Mutter recordings at Miraval Studios. Unknown photographer.
3) Oliver and Paul and a cropped out fan. Unknown photographer.
4) From the recording of Ohne dich, gotta have those beards!
5), 6) and 7) Various band members at restaurants, probably photographed without their knowledge. Unknown photographers.

31 Days Idol Challenge - Day 11: Fav. Stage Make-Up
It was impossible for me to choose anything but Oliver Riedel's look from Gothenburg 3, 30.07.2022. Of course I am extremely biased since I was there and stood straight in front of him and got totally blown away when he walked out on stage during Armee der Tristen.
This look is simply amazing. The make-up is terrific, and the necklace is the cherry on top. I am so glad I got to see it live, and this photo that I took will forever remind me of that concert which is the best I've been to so far.
Bonus photos:
1) The Angry LIFAD look. Photo by Rui M. Leal.
2) The blue eyes from WHDT Tour. Photo by Carole M.
3) The dirty Sehnsucht look with white. Photo by David Adlermann.
4) The 'skeleton' look from 2019. Unknown photographer.
5) Last but not least - I really, really like Oliver without make-up. Photo by me from Aarhus, 22.06.2022.

Initially, I wanted to pick this odd metal - something - that Oliver Riedel used on his head during Sehnsucht Tour. Though then I remembered when he wore BOTH the metal thingy AND a gas mask. Then it became a no-brainer! Photo by Metal-Experience.com from Eindhoven 1998.
