Omni-Man Isn't Superman
So, I'm not someone who is super into evil supermen. It can be a fun little gimmick for a single story, don't get me wrong. However, I think there's a problem when in one decade, there are more evil Superman stories in pop culture than there are good Superman stories. It is the single reason I haven't watched the show about boys. I'm sure its great, or whatever. However, I think that the satire falls flat when people aren't actually able to understand the nuances of Superman. It sucks, man. However, I do like Invincible. I know, that seems weird. One of the big two evil Superman edgy bloody superhero series on Amazon Prime. I shouldn't be interested, but I thought it was EPIC! So why. Well, I think I found it out, finally, as Season 2 came out. Omni-Man, for the purposes of this story, isn't the Superman analog. Invincible is.
SPOILERS FOR UP TO S2 EP 1 OF Invincible
Allow me some time to explain. Yes, on the outset, he seems more like Superman than Invincible. He fits in with the Superman spot for the first season's Justice League analog. He has the "Biggest Earth Hero" character archetype, at least at the start, on lock. He even looks more like Superman in costume than Invincible (Though they do both have a letter on their chest, Mark's is just more abstract). However, that's really where it ends. For me, the big sticking point is the amount of age and knowledge at the start of the story.
One of the big elements of Superman is that he is practically unaware of his home world, only really learning from recordings in the Fortress of Solitude. However, Omni-Man is fully aware. He came to earth in his adulthood, he grew up on Viltrum (Invincible's Krypton analog). Meanwhile, for Mark, he grew up entirely on Earth, learning its ways, its culture, its people. You know, like Superman.
However, even more key to this argument, is Omni-Man's actual role in the fucking plot. Yes, he is an antagonist, but I'm thinking deeper. This story is about Mark, not Omni-Man. It's about Mark learning about himself, his role in the world, so on and so forth. But where does Omni-Man fit in. He's his dad.
Yes, I posit that Omni-Man's true satire is being an evil version of Superman's dad...s. For the sake of efficiency, he merges Jor El and Pa Kent, being more Jor than Pa. This is an important as the satire shifts from the usual, "WhAt If SuPeRmAn WaS eViL" shtick, and changing it to more of, "What if Superman came from an evil Fascist family line," Which I find much more interesting.
Mainly, in that it feels much more in line with the original Superman, oddly enough. Many of the evil Supermen ignore the idea that Superman is so cool because, in part, he fights against the idea of the Ubermensch. The idea of someone who is super strong taking power is bucked away by Superman, as he places himself under all those he is stronger than, the ultimate altruist.
Invincible keeps this in mind, and pushes it further. The world has set Mark up to be what the Fascist powers that led up to him want him to be. Heck, season 2 starts with the idea that most Marks team up with Omni-Man. However, that makes Mark even more revolutionary, he is the buck in the trend, the one who shows that Superman can be, and should be a hero. It is wonderful, and makes this show really good.

So my thoughts on the matchups that are probably coming for Death Battle are;
Bardock vs. Omni-Man: Nolan legit gets a second matchup before anyone else in Invincible does. Still, this is a very requested match-up and I know a lot of people who didn't want Omni-Man Vs. Homelander wanted THIS instead. Outcome wise, its actually quite tight from what people are saying so a close fight could be exciting.
Bowser vs. Eggman: OH YEAH BIG VILLAIN time. Given how both sides got fucked in their previous battles (Eggman vs. Wily was a cop-out with Metal Sonic and Ganondorf vs. Bowser was a battle people hate the outcome of) hopefully this battle gives both sides more respect, especially since their villainy has been more focused on their cinematic debuts. Plus Eggman says "I HAVE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCMENT." 10/10 there.
Light vs. Columbo: Not terribly into both franchises so don't have strong opinions here on how the fight will go. Still be interesting to see Tsurugi's spirit animal in a battle.
Kratos vs. Asura: What's the point of the Championship Bracket if the runner up still gets in? I know Kratos and Asura were runners up twice but still doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Maybe its a expection due to the whole going independent thing.
Ben 10 vs. Green Lanturn Rematch: Easily the most disliked outcome of them all. While a rematch WON'T change the outcome as DC is so busted there is no way Ben can match up to what Hal has done, hopefully the rematch would make things more respectable for the Ben 10 side, show off more aliens, and don't do a "Time eh?" which is still used for memes for bad outcomes.
Yang vs. Tifa Rematch: This rematch WILL have a different outcome as I'm 100% sure the reason Yang won last time was because Rooster Teeth told Death Battle to make her win, but since they are no more they cannot do that anymore. Especially as now people can see how Final Fantasy stuff outclasses anything from RWBY.
Master Chief Vs. Doomguy Rematch: Do it in 3D. That is the best way to make this better. I know why the OG was in 2D at the time but now we have different styles it would be criminal to not go 3D for this fight. I don't know if the outcome will change but since we have had new Halo and Doom games since the last match, that could change things.
And that's that. Of course the rematches will be voted on if we get the funds in but seeing how fast the money is coming in, it will be reached. So who do you think will win the rematch vote? Let us know your thoughts on the matches announced.
//Okay, so working my way down this list...
//I really liked Omni-Man VS Homelander; it is one of my top episodes, at least of that season, but I do agree that this was not a fair fight even slightly. It was more relevant at the time, but it's true that Bardock does have quite a fair few more similarities. For Homelander, you could boil their connections down to how they're both secretly evil superhero's that both parody Superman. But for Bardock, both of them are of alien origin (One is a Saiyan, while the other is a Viltrumite, both races who are known in their respective universes for being battle-hungry, near unstoppable savages), who are the blood father's of their series' respective hero's (Goku and Mark), and have complicated relationships with their families. Both of them also, despite their proven dedication to their race, betrayed their own kind (Nolan's time on Earth and with his family lead to a personal crisis, where he eventually questioned and rebelled against his mission and the Viltrumites, and Bardock, after a series of visions about the Saiyan's annihilation, rebelled against Frieza and unsuccessfully tried to save his planet), and both have been portrayed as both a hero and a villain. So the connections do run deeper with them, and it should be a good fight regardless.
//I already said what I needed to say about Eggman VS Bowser; I'm VERY pumped for it, not just because it's been a long time coming, but because like you said, Bowser and Eggman have both been kind of misused and mishandled by Death Battle in the past, so they both really need this.
//I have no stake in Light VS Columbo. I don't think it's gonna happen, and more than that, I don't know HOW it's gonna happen because neither character has shown any feats of strength before, so it'll be a battle of wits more than anything. From what little I do know about though, I think if Columbo could gather sufficient evidence without revealing his suspicions too early, thereby avoiding becoming a target for the Death Note, he could get the upper hand and win.
//Kratos VS Asura WILL happen soon, I guarantee it. But I doubt it'll happen in this season since it was on the ballot. Maybe in two seasons time we'll finally get it, especially since it is still an insanely popular matchup.
//And as for what I think will be the rematch episode that was teased, it could be any number of things, but I think out of all the previous episodes, it will be Ben 10 VS Green Lanturn that gets rerun. Given that it's still the most controversial episode of the original series, and Goku and Superman got a third episode to iron out the creases of their previous blunders, it's only natural that they get the same treatment. But Yang VS Tifa is for sure one that could get it as well; but I'm not sure if Death Battle will be running any more RWBY episodes.
//Speaking of which, I do predict that depending on how many episodes there are for this next season, I suspect that we might be getting Ruby Rose VS Maka Albarn at some point; maybe for Episode 100. I'd still like to see it, despite everything.

OMNI-MAN VS BARDOCK Death Battle Prediction
Tumblr media
For those who don't know, Death Battle announced Omni Man vs Bardock as the first episode a new era of death battle and I gota say, I'M HYPED AF I really like this matchup and tease that they gave us looked really good and I can tell this episode is going to be banger.
But now let's get into the prediction whitch yes I did actually did a prediction for the MU but that one was short and I really want to make another prediction post so yeah without further a do let's go.
Omni-Man
Nolan's main advantages are his experince due to being over thousands of years old whitch he was fighting for a good chunch of it, and there's of course his speed whitch would put him at MFTL since he was able to traver to another galaxy in a week whitch would make Omni Man faster and finally there's his healing factor and endurance whitch would make it harder to put him out.
As for his strenght he was able to punch a planet and destroy it with two other Viltrumites whitch would put him at planetary level but do keep in mind that this feat was done with three Viltrumites and it was stated that if the core of the planet wasn't shut all of them would have died. But yeah you get the point Omni Man is planetary and before you say the black hole feat where Nolan was near a black hole that would put him at best moon level since his just standing there he's not destroying it or moving it.
Bardock
Now for him Ultraguy who's part of the team revealed what there using for him
Tumblr media
And as you can see there gonna do a soft composite basically there using both Z and Super Bardock along with the episode of Bardock whitch was the special where he turned Super Saiyan.
Now Bardock in his base form should upscale Roshi's moon busting feat as Bardock was stated to have power level of 10.000 while Roshi has a power level of 139 when he destryed the moon whitch was calculared to be planetary whitch in tern would make Bardock planetary just by upscaling and not only that he also scales to King Vegeta who destryes three planets with a wave of his hand whitch would be around large planetary to dwarf star level.
Bardock also has range thanks to his ki attacks and he can grow stronger via zenkais and there's his future sight whitch even tough it was given it's still there and even if you don't include it Bardock has other powers like flying, shooting blasts of energy, inhance strenght and durability and he can grow stronger threw fighting.
And finally there's his Oozaru and Super Saiyan forms that increase Bardock's power with Oozaru being a 10 time multiplier and Super Saiyan being a 50 times multiplier whitch would make Bardock even stronger and faster and yes that does include Oozaru since as we saw in Goku and Vegeta's first fight where Vegeta became a Oozaru he was shown to be faster so the same thing would implie to Bardock.
Who wins?
Now let's answore the question on who would win... whitch you probably know if you saw my prevouse prediction post but if you didn't to put it simply, Bardock wins. He's way stronger than Omni Man and grow even stonger via zenkais or his transformations and there's also the fact that Bardock has range attacks whitch would help him and would do damage to Nolan who while is way faster he usually just punches at high speed rather than using his speed affectically. Now I'm not saying that this is an easy win for Bardock since again Omni Man is way faster not to meantion his more experienced and endurance not to meantion his healing factor, but in the end I do think Bardock would win since he's way stronger and with his range I do think he has what it takes to put Omni Man down for good.

DEATH BATTLE LIVES!!!
That's right, Boomstick! With $737,442 raised (almost 10 times the initial goal!) Death Battle gets to keep going on strong! And in commemoration of the Kickstarter wrapping up, I might as well give my thoughts on all the matchups confirmed through the stretch goals!
Bardock vs Omni-Man (Dragon Ball vs Invincible):
Feels a bit wrong seeing Omni-Man again after only two years, not gonna lie. But at least this time around, he'll actually have some kind of challenge to face in an old-school Saiyan. (Watch them somehow still squeeze in that damn universe shockwave feat)
Bowser vs Eggman (Super Mario vs Sonic the Hedgehog):
The fact that they squeezed in a reference to Eggman's announcement and Bowser's Hotel Mario meme face was perfection. And the animation preview looks absolutely sick. Let's just hope that Bowser got whatever he had on the Moon in Odyssey off there, because we all know what's coming to it...
Kratos vs Asura (God of War vs Asura's Wrath):
The eternal bridesmaid finally gets its chance to shine! And honestly, I don't exactly get the hype around it all to much. I mean it can be cool, yeah, but second place in both Championship polls? How? Not only that, but remember when Kratos' most wanted opponent was Dante instead of Asura? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Mahito vs Shigaraki (Jujutsu Kaisen vs My Hero Academia):
I haven't watched MHA since season 4 and have never seen JJK so I have nothing to say.
Aang vs Traveler (Avatar: The Last Airbender vs Genshin Impact):
I'm not to hyped on this one either. I don't watch Avatar, and while I like a good few characters in Genshin, the Traveler is one I'm neutral on (Not to mention how I dipped out of the story mid-way through Sumeru). I guess it could be cool, but to me, this one is a bit more filler-like in my eyes.
Ash vs Yugi (Pokémon vs Yu-Gi-Oh!):
Aside from the episode 200 factor, this one is really interesting due to the many ways they could handle it. Since it likely won't be Ash and Yugi themselves throwing hands, it all comes down to what "monsters" are brought onto the battlefield. Obviously, we'll have Pikachu and Dark Magician, but we could also get Ash-Greninja, or Exodia the Forbidden One! Hell, maybe even "weaker" ones like Rowlet or Pot of Greed, which allows Yugi to draw three additional cards from his deck and place them in his hand!
Simon the Digger vs Kyle Rayner (Gurren Lagaan vs DC):
Welcome one of the most infamously back-and-forth toxic debates, in my eyes. While not on the same caliber as Bill vs Discord or Joker vs Giorno, I've seen the tides of debate shift on this so many times. And I... don't really care all that much. The White Lanterns are an area of DC I'm not that familiar with, and I tried watching Gurren Lagaan a few years back but lost interest after the time skip. Not only that, but I feel like the main reason people got interested in this matchup is because of Will of the Drill, and people, lemme break it to you; It's probably not gonna get used in the actual episode. Not saying it absolutely won't, but the chances are slim.
Ruby vs Maka (RWBY vs Soul Eater):
While I've only seen the first 4 volumes of RWBY and know nothing about Soul Eater outside of Venom vs Crona, I guess this one could be interesting. Though I can almost guarantee you that there will be some kind of scythe-lock moment in the fight. It's practically inevitable.
Hulk vs Godzilla (Marvel vs Toho):
I feel like I'm one of the few people who are actually into this matchup. Most people I've seen talk about it online are usually either neutral or flat-out dislike it. Or even weirder, only like it if its MCU Hulk vs Monsterverse Godzilla (And I have no idea why) but I'm really down for this. Here's to hoping Hulk grabs big G by the tail and gives him the Puny God treatment.
Gru vs Megamind (Illumination vs Dreamworks):
WOOOOOOO!! YEAAAAAH, BAYBEEEEEE! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about! WOOOOOOOO!
But seriously, I'm really happy this episode is finally happening. While it's not my most wanted episode (Infinity Ultron vs Heaven Ascension DIO), my second-most wanted episode (Borg vs Cybermen), and so on and so-forth, this one can still be a grand old time. It'll also likely be an easy wash for Megamind so long as he, y'know... S H O O T S G R U W I T H T H E D E H Y D R A T I O N G U N ! !
And with that, that only leaves us with one episode slot to cover... kinda: the fan-voted rematch slot. Since this one has yet to be decided, I'll tackle this one by saying which episode I'd vote for. And that would be...
Shadow vs Mewtwo (Like a good amount of people seem to be going with)
Hey, I can't help it if that episode sucked and deserved better for such a fitting matchup. It's at least a tad more interesting of a revisit than Master Chief vs Doom Slayer. Not to mention how Shadow's new Doom powers could shake things up from the first time around.
But nevertheless, the future of Death Battle is looking bright, and I look forward to analyzing a bunch of characters weapons, armor, and skills once more.

Kickstarter of Death Battle is live! Thoughts?
Tumblr media
//Oh man, where do I begin?
//First of all, I almost missed it. I wasn't expecting them to drop such big announcements randomly, but man am I into it now.
//Thankfully, they managed to reach their kickstarter goal within like, half an hour of that video being posted. So that's good.
//I'm a little confused how the episodes are gonna work now. I don't know if there's gonna be a season 11 or if they're just gonna be uploading regular videos now at their own pace. It's not like they have a deadline for these anymore, lest they set one for themselves.
//As for the matchups so far, I think both of the newly revealed one's are extremely solid.
//But before I talk about those, I'm glad to hear that the team are still going ahead with the Tom Vs Wile. E fight, like they said they would. After having a long long while to sit on it, I'm doubling down on Tom taking the win in the fight, simply because of how Wile. E suffers far more failures than Tom does, and the lack of reliability on his traps would really do him in. But of the currently revealed fights, it's the one that interests me the least.
//Honestly, while I knew that Bardock VS Omni-Man was a popular matchup that they did a DB Cast for, I never expected that we would actually get it as an episode. I kind of thought Omni-Man would be a one and done character, but I'm not complaining. I really liked Omni-Man VS Homelander as an episode, but I feel like I'll enjoy Omni-Man VS Bardock as a fight more, because Bardock is much closer to Nolan's power level than Homelander was. That being said, I still kind of expect Nolan to take the win because he has far more feats to his name than Bardock does. Not only that, but his baseline power without his transformations is likely lower than Omni-Man's, and Viltrumites have exceptional regenerative abilities and endurance that the Saiyan's don't, which means even if Bardock as a Super Saiyan can severely injure him, he could keep going. But just seeing Bardock in an episode makes me excited, because he is generally one of my favourite Dragon Ball characters.
//But Bowser VS Eggman was FOR SURE a LONG TIME COMING. Mario and Sonic have two episodes in the series of them facing against each other, and I really really wanted to see how things would turn out when their villains fought each other. Moro looks like he's killing it already just from the previews; and it's by far the one that I'm most excited for so far. As for who I think would win, it's a little tricky. In a direct confrontation, Eggman's technological superiority and strategic mind would likely give him the edge, and his robots are quite likely to overwhelm Bowser's forces. However, Bowser's resilience, magical abilities, and the sheer number of his minions would give him a chance. Assuming Bowser managed to close the distance and engage Eggman directly, his physical prowess could turn the tide; however, Eggman's propensity for creating powerful defenses and deploying overwhelming technological firepower gives him an advantage if he manages to draw the fight out. So while I'm rooting for Bowser; since he is my favourite of the two; I ultimately think Eggman takes it, assuming he can leverage his assets effectively.
//I'm just glad to see the team back, because they are all good people despite what some will tell you. And if it is true that some requested matchups will catch their eye, I might sign up purely so I can put in a request for Hajime Vs Deku. Not that I expect the matchup to arrive any time soon, but I'm happy to wait another 10 years for it if that's what it takes.
