Still Alive
Hey guys, I know I haven’t updated in a while, but I wanted to let you know this blog is still alive. With coronavirus going on, and everyone stuck indoors, I’ve had a lot of time on my hands. 
There’s been a fair number of updates to Ren’Py since the last time I touched it, so I’ve spent the last few months re-familiarizing myself with the engine in preparation for restarting the blog. 
That being said, the last two basic tutorials will be posted to reflect how the new engine version handles sounds and compiling, instead of how it was handled the last time I worked with it, so those blog posts will be delayed. After they are updated, I’ll go back and update the other basic tutorials as needed, before moving on to the exciting stuff: teaching basic python and Ren’Py screen language.
I’ve gotten a lot questions over the intervening quiet period, and I’ll be answering them starting from the newest ones and working back in time(as is still relevant). The hope is that I’m answering questions people still need help with that way.
All in all, I look forward to getting the helpdesk back in working shape, and hearing your phone calls blowing up the metaphorical phone.

Day off today and for the first time in a while I would get a full day of rest because we only get The Pest on weekends. Well it wasn't a full day of rest because at 12:00 I had a video interview with Amazon about a warehouse job. I was really nervous and even more so when I went into my wardrobe, pulled out the shirt I normally wear for interviews and realized that it had clearly been a while since I last had an interview because it was about three sizes too small. I didn't want to do the interview looking like a killer whale had been squeezed into a McDonald's drinking straw so I changed into a plain white t-shirt instead. I was a little bit nervous about this because all my hopes on escaping the call centre pretty much rode on this interview going well. Even though the helpdesk lady told me that this would be more of an informal chat and a gathering of personal information than an interview I still prepared a few answers to questions that normally pop up. This is looking good but I'll refrain from celebrating just yet just in case something goes wrong but needless to say I'm excited and I can't wait to go down to that fucking call centre and hand in my notice.
I fancied going out for some lunch so I headed to Sainsbury’s so I could get a jacket potato with coleslaw but when I got there I saw that the café was closed for renovations. Next I tried Liberty Browns but there was a kids party going on and there's not set of headphones in the world that can drown out the sound of a bunch of little screaming shitheads so I decided to just get something from Greggs instead. While I was sat outside Dad walked past me. He was killing some time before he went up to visit Nana Jenny so I told him I would come to see her as well as it's been a good while since I've seen her. Dad warned me that it might be hard for me to look at Jenny because she's just recently had her teeth out and is waiting for her dentures. I reassured him that I would be fine. If I can handle the sight of Grandad bollock naked I think I can handle this. Unfortunately when we went in Jenny was fast asleep and Dad didn't want to wake her up so we planned to come back tomorrow instead. Before I went home Dad said he had decided to come with me to Los Angeles next year and was going to start saving up for it. I want to go to see WrestleMania, an LA Lakers game and explore the city but in order to do all three I'll have to wait until the new NBA season starts in September to see if there's a Lakers game the week of WrestleMania (If it's the same night I will fucking scream). Dad however is as far away from a wrestling fan as you can be so he's just going to go off and do his own thing on the night I go to see Mania. Either way it should still be another great little trip away and we haven't been on a trip together since New York in 2018.
