Hal lain yang menarik dari apartemen ini adalah program ruangnya yang simpel. Apartemen ini memiliki footprint yang kecil dan memanjang (sepertinya khas di Sri Lanka dan negara-negara tetangganya). Permasalahan yang perlu diselesaikan oleh arsitek yaitu bagaimana menciptakan apartemen yang mampu mewadahi berbagai fungsi tempat tinggal dengan suasana yang nyaman dan lega meskipun dengan lahan yang sempit.

Arsitek mencoba me-redesign apartemen ini dengan mengurangi kebutuhan ruangnya. Fungsi ruang yang dihilangkan antara lain ruang tamu dan satu kamar tidur. Apartemen pun menjadi lebih efisien karena hanya mewadahi ruang-ruang yang benar-benar dibutuhkan saja.

Orientasi setiap ruang-pun diubah. Yang awalnya menghadap ke sisi panjang apartemen (ke samping), diubah menjadi ke sisi pendeknya (ke depan / belakang). Sekat-sekat antar ruang dihilangkan oleh arsitek dan hanya tersisa untuk kamar mandi saja. Tanpa adanya sekat tersebut, ruang-ruang berbeda fungsi dalam apartemen menjadi ‘tergabung dalam satu ruangan’ atau biasa disebut dengan open layout, yang memang banyak digunakan dalam desain interior di masa arsitektur kontemporer ini. Apartemen menjadi lebih lega, baik secara fisik maupun visual.
