Still a bit shook from the recent incident, Lorelei’s mind was filled with questions as to why the Hessian spared her. Was it because she wasn’t the intended target. Did Craig do something that caused his demise? All that came to light when she encountered him again when she went down the path back of the villa.

Part two

Over the next few days, Lorelei continued to settle herself in as she unpacked all her possessions and placed them around the villa. After half of the day of arranging around the villa, she sat in her chair, looked over at the blue rose she recently found the night the Hessian walked into her home and beheaded Craig. Still, Lorelei kept thinking over, "Why wasn't I beheaded?"

Lorelei was deep in thought when there was a knock at her door. She got up from her chair and walked toward the door, looked through the peephole and was surprised to see it was her younger sister, Harriet, dropping by for a visit. She quickly unlocked the door and embraced her in a tight hug.

"Harriet, it's so good to see you! When did you get here?" Harriet returned the hug. "I wanted to surprise you and see how you were settling in. I know things had been rough since your divorce with Craig, so I decided to come over and check on you." She said as she pulled away. " I'm so glad you're here. I have so much I want to tell you." Lorelei said as she pulled Harriet into the villa and closed the door behind them.

Later….

“This is what I found instead of the body.” Lorelei presented the blue rose to Harriet after telling her of her encounter with the Hessian. Harriet look closely at the blue rose, then at her sister. “You know what this means, right?” She asked as she looked at her sister with the look of fear. Lorelei sat up in her chair as she placed the blue rose back in the vase on the table that they were sitting at and shook her head.

Harriet said, “This means that a task has been completed by the Hessian whose resurfaced from the grave to go after the people who took part in his death and buried him. In other words, I do believe the reason why Craig was beheaded because 21 years ago, he was among one the soldiers who fought against the horseman in the western woods. He was the one who stabbed him before the other took off his head with his own sword.“

Lorelei was shocked to hear this that her ex-husband was one of the soldiers who injured the horseman helped bury the body in the woods. “And that’s not it…“Harriet said. “There’s more?“ Lorelei asked. Harriet replied, “ The blue rose is actually a symbol of eternal love for someone. And I believe that someone is you. You may not remember him, but he definitely remembers you. Did you by any chance encounter him before?” Harriet asked. Lorelei shook her head.

“Tonight is the full moon, and don’t worry, you won’t turn into a werewolf.…” Lorelei chuckled at her last comment. “You are to go to the lake, where you always like to go to, prick your finger on it’s thorns, close your eyes and say his name three times, then the rose will evaporate. You are to inhale its essence, and it will take you back to the first time you encountered the Hessian. Tell nobody about this or they will be suspicious that you may have something to do with Craig’s disappearance.” Lorelei nodded at her sisters’ warning as Harriet got up to prepare to leave.

Before leaving, Harriet turned to Lorelei, and said, “Remember, tell nobody that you have encountered the Hessian. Be careful.” She nodded in agreement. Harriet hugged her tightly, got into her carriage and waved at each other as she rode off back home.

Later that night….

Lorelei headed to the lake and did what her sister told her. She pricked herself on the roses’ thorns, set the Hess’s name three times, and the rose evaporated. She inhaled the essence and let the darkness take her. It took about five seconds before there was a bright light in her vision.

When Lorelei was nine years old, she always play by the lake with her friends and sisters. As the sun was setting, it was time for them to go home. But one of her friends decided to pull a prank on her by messing up a trail that she made to find her way back. Lorelei and her sisters made it back to the villa, but Lorelei was not with them. Harriet turned to her friend, who was supposed to be with her, Martin, and asked, “Where is Lorelei? You was supposed to be with her so she wouldn’t get lost!“ Martin chuckled and said, “It was just a joke. Don’t worry she will find her way back.”

Harriet ran up to Martin and screamed in his face, “Are you serious?!? You know how easy it is for her to get lost when she lays a trail out for herself to find her way back! How can you be so stupid?!?” Harriet ran down the path that they just came out of and followed the trail that Lorelei had left to find a way back. In the middle of a running back to the lake, the trail was no longer there. She began to panic and started calling out for her, but there was no answer.

Lorelei, however, began to get scared and wandered farther into the woods, trying to find her way back home. With nowhere else to turn, she breaks down, crouched down on her knees and began to cry. It felt like hours had gone by since she had gotten herself lost. As she wept, the sound of hoofbeats begin to approach from behind her, but she ignored it and continued to cry even harder. The hoofbeats stopped and the sound of someone was dismounting, the heavy feet made impact on the ground.

As she continue to cry, she felt a hand touch, her shoulder and a voice, asking her, “Are you all right, little miss? Are you lost?” Lorelei looked up to meet striking blue eyes of a young man who looked no more and being his mid to late 30s. Dressed in all black, even his horse was black. That’s when she realized that this was the man that her parents warned about what the Hessian. At first she was frightened by his appearance, but she had no other choice but to answer, “No, I am not alright. I’m lost, and I can’t find my way back to the villa. That’s where I live.”

He smiled gently at her and said, “I do believe I just passed the villa. I’ll be happy to take you.” Lorelei was taught not to talk to strangers, but what does she have to lose? She nodded as she wiped her tears from her eyes as the Hessian helped her off the ground. to mount his horse and pulled her up and together they rode back to the villa. As soon as there were a few yards from her home that has looked at her and said, “this is as far as I will take you this will take you. Do you recognize the area?” Lorelei looked up up at him and replied, “Yes, I now recognize the place. Thank you very much. Please take this as a token of my appreciation.”

Lorelei held out a blue rose that she had in her hair when she was playing with her sisters and her friends and gave it to the Hessian. They took it and placed it in his cape as he lowered her down on the path. “Thank you very much. I hope I do meet other people like you one day. Take care of yourself. And try to get lost again.” He said as he chuckled. With that, there has been rolled off down the past back into the woods as Lorelei waved goodbye to him.

The vision faded as Lorelei opened her eyes with a look of shock on her face. “So that’s why he spared me! I remember being lost in the woods after Martin pulled a joke on me, making me get lost and the Hessian helped me find my way back.” She thought, as she got up from where she sat and ran back home to her Villa.

As she headed back down the path to the villa, she heard hoofbeats coming from behind her. She didn’t want to turn around, and she heard her heartbeat fast against her chest, as the hoofbeats got louder and closer. She stopped in her tracks and shut her eyes as tight as she could waiting for whoever it was to pass by. Surprisingly, the hoofbeats stopped, but still, she did not want to turn around and she kept her eyes closed.

Then she heard whoever it was, who was on the horse, dismount, and made impact on the ground. She heard footsteps coming from behind her and right in front of her. Her heart began to beat even more faster, but she did not want to look at whoever it was, who may have the intentions of hurting her. But then, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and a voice say, “Do you wish for me to give you a ride home?“ Almost immediately, she recognized the voice as she slowly opened her eyes and raised her head to the person who spoke to her. It was the Hessian! He said in a gentle, husky voice, “You don’t have to be afraid, I’m not going to hurt you.”

Even though he did look scary, she saw that he meant no harm. Lorelei said to him as she did her best to calm herself, “You did give me quite a scare, sir. Why were you following me?” The Hessian replied, “You left your scarf near the lake where I saw you, I was hoping that I would catch up and bring it to you before you went to your house.” As he raised her scarf to her, her hand flies to her neck, realizing that she did indeed left it by the lake, where she was just at. She took it from his gloved hand and began to wrap it around her neck. “Thank you very much, I guess I do need a ride because my feet are beginning to ache a little bit.“ She said with a chuckle as the Hessian got on Daredevil, pulled her up behind him and rode to the rest of the way to the villa.

As soon as they got to the villa, he dismounted the end of a first before, helping her, dismount him, and walked her to her door. Before she went inside, Lorelei asked the Hessian, “ That night when you beheaded Craig, why did you spare me?“ The Hessian replied, “that is something I will explain to you later, and we meet again…“ The has about his head kisser on her hand got on, daredevil and galloped away.

As she walked into her house and close the door, she was surprised to see her sister sitting on the couch waiting for her. “Harriet! What are you doing here?”And she asked as she put down her bag. Harriet replied, “I was just about to ask you about your date with the Hessian. You’re not the only one who knows him.” Lorelei stared on in surprise.
