The First Official Gala Portrait of King Frederik X of Denmark and his Australian-born wife Queen Mary

The portrait, which shows the couple wearing the Order of the Elephant on chains, will be displayed in state institutions, including at Danish embassies and consulates around the world.
Taken at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, it is the first photo of Mary wearing the crown jewels as queen since ascending the throne in January.
In the portrait, Mary wears an emerald set with a tiara, necklace earrings, and a large broach.
The set was designed by jeweller CM Weisshaupt and was a gift from Christian VIII to Queen Caroline Amalie, the Royal House states on its website.
The set’s emeralds and diamonds are partly reused items from the jewellery collection of Christian VI’s Queen Sophie Magdalene and from older bracelets, combined with newly purchased stones, the Royal House website states.
Mary also wears a diamond miniature portrait of the king in a bow of Order of Dannebrog ribbon, in keeping with the tradition of female members of the royal family wearing a portrait of the sovereign.

DENMARK - Poul Nejlund & Søren Hedegaard & Dennis Knudsen
Let's start with Poul Nejlund, owner of the Jean-Leonard (just like Marie-Antoinette's hairdresser) hair salon for 60 years, and who has been Queen Margrethe's hairdresser for more than 40 years (he's 82 years old and still working with Margrethe!), work that granted him the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog.

Poul has given a few interviews over the years, and according to him, the first time Margrethe sat on his chair, the appointment was made for a lady-in-wating but she was the one who appeared. That was in the early 80s and from that moment, he has been Margrethe's only hairdresser. Even thought she went to his hair salon that first time, he usually goes to Fredensborg Palace to work.
Being Margrethe's only hairdresser means that his hands are behind every single tiara hairstyle we've seen on her, during galas, weddings, state visits and whatever you can think about.

While with Mathilde we saw that she knows what style she wants when sitting in Fréderic's chair, Margrethe is the exact opposite.
"The Queen and I never actually talk about hairstyles or agree on anything in advance. When it comes to hair and hairstyles, the Queen gives me complete freedom and never interferes. However, I am not supposed to try anything with color, extra hair extensions or other things"
That's so Daisy. Her being the creative soul she is, it's normal that she gives that freedom to her hairdresser to create. And by the way, we do know that Poul doesn't need to use extensions in Margrethe's updos as she still keeps her hair pretty long.

And while Poul has done Mary's hair occasionally, she had her own hairdresser during her time as Crown Princess: Søren Hedegaard. He stepped down just as she became Queen in 2024.

Søren's case is special among the hairdressers I'm writing about, because he worked 23 years fo Mary and has given a lot of interviews (like a lot), but everything he says is about himself. I translated at least 20 interviews and nothing, not a single thing about Mary apart from what we do know, that he started working with her in 2001 and left with Margrethe's abdication, over and over again. I was starting to get somewhat frustrated when I found an interesting quote in 2005:
"I’m not allowed to talk …"
It's been a long time, that quote is from the first years of Mary as a royal, but with how hard it's being finding insight or behind the scenes secrets with her, I'm pretty inclined to think that he really isn't allowed to talk.
That being said, I just want to mention that Kasper Astrup has stepped into the role of Mary's regular hairdresser. It's still early to find an interview or a journalist piece on him, because he's been just a year in the position.

I don't want this Mary's hairdresser piece to end on a low note, so here's a video of Søren and Poul in an event doing a workshop of how they work:
And lastly, Marie's hairdresser: Dennis Knudsen.

He worked with Marie for 13 years. He also did not talk much about his work with Marie, but we do know that he was let go as a colaborator in 2023 after he was convicted for endangerment and reckless driving. Now he's living in Thailand and obviously not styling Marie. This also coincides with Marie's lack of official events as a danish princess, so I couldn't find if she has a new regular hairdresser or just one on occasion for the official events she attends.
Denmark was a weird case on this Royal Hairdressers series I'm doing, because we're so used to have more info on them and all that, that I thought that I would find as much info than with the other countries I've done, but apart from Margrethe, we don't know much about the others. Just the royals public events are a testament of their work.

Fantasy Guide to Royal Orders

Royalty usually seem weighed down by a lot of medals, badges, chains, ribbons and sashes but each of these little details means something. How can we write them accurately and create our own versions for our worlds?
What exactly is a royal order?

A royal order is an honour bestowed on a person by the monarch. A royal order is an exclusive reward for those who have provided exemplary service to the nation or monarch or are simply honoured by the monarch for any reason from being close personally. Royal orders can be granted to other monarchs, members of the Royal family or aristocracy or even commoners.
Rank and File

Most orders have certain classes with the order. The Monarch is always the head of the order, there's usually a Commander of the Order along with every me member being assigned into First Class, Second Class etc. Being a member of the order actually entitles the member to certain privileges, such as a member being able to request the use the home chapel.
Pomp and Circumstance

A royal order can be bestowed in a grand ceremony or even privately. Some royal orders, including the Order of the Bath and the Order of the Garter, include annual rituals of the recipients meeting all while wearing their acquired medals, sashes and accessories. Being a part of an order would entitle you to attend certain events.
Rules of Wearing a Royal Order

Orders can be worn at many events. Usually the whole ensemble is worn to Order-centric events such as an investment or a celebration. The sash or riband can be worn at White Tie events or even as part of military uniforms along with the star. Smaller badges and pins can be worn at black tie events.
Family Orders

Royal family orders are bestowed upon female members of the Royal family to wear at formal events. These are comprised of a diamond encrusted portrait of the current monarch (or any past monarch who granted them the order) worn suspended on a coloured ribbon.
Details of a Royal Order

Sash or Riband: The sash or Riband is the length of coloured fabric that lies across the chest, secured at the shoulder and hip. These can come in an array of colours to differentiate between each order.
Star: The Star is the diamond pin that is a fixed next to the sash. This will usually be encrusted in diamonds displaying the symbol of the order or the initials of the monarch.
Collars and chains: some orders come with chains of the order that are worn around the neck, usually displaying the symbols of the order. These are usually worn over a cape or with a military uniform.
Badges: Are pins worn at the shoulders usually depicting the symbol or motto of the order.
Medal: Some orders come in the form of a medal suspended on ribbon depicting either portrait of the monarch as worn in family orders or initials of the monarch or just the symbol of the order.
Cape/Cloak: Some orders call for a wardrobe change as well. Some orders require the members to dress in large heavy embroidered cloaks stitched with the insignia of the order. These cloaks were seen most recently at the English Coronation of Charles III.

Now the story of Abraham shows him [Kierkegaard], more clearly than ever, the contrast between two kinds of religious life, distinguished by very different attitudes to the world.
The sacrificial part of Abraham’s movement dragged out in the arduous journey up Mount Moriah and climaxing in the unthinkable binding of Isaac, the heart-stopping flash of a knife – is perceived by some people to be the summit of the God-relationship. Kierkegaard admires the ‘monastic movement’ of withdrawal from the world, rarely attempted in this modern age where religious passion is no longer valued as it used to be. He calls those who live like this ‘knights of resignation’, in contrast to the successful figures in Danish public life who are appointed Knights of the Order of the Dannebrog by the king. While these worldly knights enjoy secular prestige, the knights of resignation stand apart from the world, spiritually elevated and remote.
Yet something higher still lies beyond them, a paradoxical peak that can be reached only by descending. Having renounced everything for the sake of God, Abraham made a further movement, returning to the world, embracing finitude, and living contentedly with his earthly gifts. Walking down the mountain with his son Isaac beside him, he was not just a knight of resignation, but a ‘knight of faith’. For Kierkegaard, Abraham exemplifies a way of being human in the world that neither withdraws like a hermit or a monk, nor conforms to conventional bourgeois values. The ‘guiding star’ of Abraham belongs to a paradoxical constellation: a faith that is lived in the world, yet defies worldly expectations.
Kierkegaard imagines the movements of this faith as the light, graceful leaps of a ballet dancer – repeated again and again, each time a little different, and as arduous to perform as they are delightful to watch. The soul’s dance expresses its longing for God, for eternity, for an unknown infinity. Most people are ‘wallflowers’ who do not take part in this dance; the knights of resignation ‘are dancers, and possess elevation’ – but when they land, they falter, showing that they cannot be at home in the world.
A knight of faith, however, lands as easily as he leapt, ‘transforming the leap of life into a walk’. He makes existence look so easy that there is nothing to tell him apart from the most unreflective, spiritless person who, immersed in everyday concerns, sees no significance in life beyond its immediate satisfactions and disappointments. The knight of faith’s relationship to God is entirely inward, hidden from public view. A divine grace sustains each step of his journey through the world, but he receives 6 this gift secretly, in silence.

What events do you think are going to happen for Christian's birthday? I was expecting it to be big like Ingrid Alexandra's 18th with a gala and everything but it's less than three months away and nothing has been announced yet.
The programme for Mary's 50th birthday (5 February 2022) was released on 2 December 2021. So about 2 months in advance – which leaves time for them to maintain the same time frame for Christian's birthday ✌️
Christian's birthday is in a weekend this year which is such 🤌 planning on M&F's end 🙈🤣
I'd say maybe some televised birthday show on 14 October (please let that be a DR production 🤞). On his actual birthday on Sunday, my best guess would be that the day starts off with a Council of State with QMII, Frederik and the government where he swears to respect the constitution. I suspect QMII will present Christian with the Order of the Elephant while at Christiansborg – but might also wait till sometime during the afternoon. Possibly carriage ride from Christiansborg to Amalienborg. Then a balcony appearance at Amalienborg. Possibly lunch at Dannebrog. And then a gala dinner at Christiansborg at night.
If they wanna scale down a bit from Frederik celebrations (he was the heir apparent at his 18th after all), they might cut the carriage ride and move the gala dinner from Christiansborg to Fredensborg.
#i dont believe the trf posters who moan about him possibly not swearing allegiance to the constitution on his 18th#i think the later years have shown that being eligible to be a regent doesn't mean you're actually called upon very frequently 😒#some of us would like some more queen mary elizabeth periods please#inquiring minds#anonymous#re. drf#chrille fylder 18

On October 22nd 1871, Sir Roderick Murchison, the Scottish geologist, died.
Murchison was born in Tarradale, Easter Ross, and was educated at Durham Grammar School and the Royal Military College. When Murchison met his future wife Charlotte Hugonin in 1815, it was she who was studying science, Murchison being far more interested in hunting and horses. After many years of encouragement from Charlotte and latterly Sir Humphrey Davy, the Murchisons moved to London in 1824 where he began to attend lectures on geology and chemistry.
Murchison’s most important geological achievements were as a stratigrapher, particularly his work determining the order of Palaeozoic rocks. His researches in Wales in the 1830s with his friend Adam Sedgwick identified the oldest (then known) fossil bearing rocks. Murchison called his system the ‘Silurian’ after the ancient indigenous tribe. Sedgwick named his ‘Cambrian’ after the Latinised version of Cymru, the Welsh for Wales. The Devonian system, the intermediate between the Carboniferous and Silurian, was defined by the two men in 1839. Finally, Murchison’s travels around the Russian empire in the early 1840s led to his description of a third system, the Permian (named after the province of Perm in Russia) which marked the end of the Palaeozoic era.
Murchison attained many honours in his lifetime. He was awarded a KCB in 1843, knighted in 1846 and made a baronet in 1866. In the bust as seen in pic 2, Murchison is wearing two of the many foreign honours bestowed upon him. The star is the Russian Order of St Stanislau, 1st Class, the cross is the Danish Order of Dannebrog
As well as the honours during his life, after his passing he had towns, rivers and islands around the world named after him – and a crater on the moon.

Arkansas Puppy Store Sourcing, What to know and What to do.
Post: December 09, 2022

Arkansas Puppy Store Sourcing
——————————————————————————————-
“We don’t buy from puppy mills.”
“All of our puppies come from small, local breeders.”
“We visit every breeder we buy from.”
We have all heard these sentences come from the mouths of pet store owners and their employees. They paint this beautiful picture of puppies running by a pond and parents frolicking in the fresh, green grass… Sadly, 99% of the time that is false. The pet store owners know it, the employees might know it- but the customer is completely in the dark.
This is why we are here.
BailingOutBenji a small nonprofit that started in Iowa and now has volunteer teams all over the country who are dedicated to raising awareness about the puppy mill industry.
Volunteers from Bailing Out Benji devote their free time to researching puppy mills to create puppy mill maps for the worst states, as well as raise awareness about notorious pet stores and breeding operations with huge violations. This includes obtaining CVI data (Certificates of Veterinary Inspections) and making those reports public. To learn more about the puppy mills in your location, you can also go to the interactive website and search engine.
NOTE:
-Before an animal is transported out of state, a veterinarian, accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), must examine the animal for signs of “infectious, contagious or communicable disease” and, if no disease is found, sign the certificate for approval to transport.
This information was obtained by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. We are currently waiting on additional FOIA requests to help make our research more complete.
All of the breeders listed as associated with the pet stores sold puppies or kittens to them in the years 2020 through 2022.
————————————————
These records requests cost money to obtain. If you would like to support our research, you can make a one time donation or to sign up to be a sustaining supporter to allow us to continue our various programs that expose the puppy mill industry, click the donate button below.
