A belfry or hall tower is a medieval watchtower with a storm bell. More generally, 'belfry' refers to an urban tower in the Southern Netherlands (read: Belgium and Northern France). This type of tower was often built on or attached to a town hall or commercial cloth hall and was the place where the city bells were hung. A group of 56 belfries in Belgium and France are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In the 13th century, the city of Ypres, as a testament to its power and wealth, built its public buildings in stone. And she does so with ambition: the Ypres cloth hall and the belfry are, at that time, one of the most impressive civil buildings in Europe! The Cloth Halls served as a covered sales and storage place for cloth on the (now arched) waterway, the Ieperlee. Construction of the halls was completed in 1304.

The Ypres belfry, 70 meters high, emphasizes the enormous importance of the cloth trade. This leads to the wealth and power of medieval Ypres. The belfry was the safest and best protected place in the city during the Middle Ages. It is also the storage place for the 'free letters' (documents declaring priviliges, local souvereignity and autonomy of the city) and for the treasury. The tower also serves as a weapons storage facility and as a watchtower to see approaching anemies of spot fires.

The tower, with its exception of the base was destroyed during the First World War and reconstructed.

Esta es la vista que tienes al cruzar la ría de Bilbao usando del puente colgante de Portugalete , cruzando de Portugalete a Getxo.

Es un puente transbordador, con una plataforma para vehículos, no es peatonal.

Lleva en funcionamiento desde 1893 ( si si, no me he equivocado, desde 1893), y a día de hoy está declarado como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO

Cruzar la ría en el transbordador de este puente, ahorra unos 20km por carretera, con lo que a día de hoy sigue siendo la opción más recomendable.

Creo que hace unos años, cuando se realizaron reparaciones y mejoras, se instalaron accesos peatonales a la parte superior, básicamente con fines turísticos.

He cruzado este puente infinidad de veces y espero que pueda seguir haciéndolo otros tantos años.

El 25 de diciembre se encenderán las velas de Janucá en el Muro de los Lamentos

🇪🇸 Este año, la festividad de Janucá en Israel comenzará el 25 de diciembre y finalizará el 1 de enero. Como todos los años, el Muro de los Lamentos en Jerusalén se prepara para recibir las ceremonias de encendido de las velas de la Menorá, un candelabro tradicional de ocho brazos. Sin embargo, esta edición será especialmente emotiva, ya que se rendirá homenaje a los milagros, proezas y guerras, con la participación de familias de rehenes, familias en duelo, soldados heridos de las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI), oficiales y miembros de la Policía de Israel. Las ceremonias, que incluyen música en vivo, serán transmitidas en directo a través del sitio web oficial de la Fundación del Patrimonio del Muro de los Lamentos. Como parte de los preparativos, se ha colocado una Menorá de más de dos metros de altura en la plaza, fabricada en bronce fundido, que pesa alrededor de una tonelada y tomó siete meses en construirse. Además, una segunda menorá fue instalada en el techo del Centro del Patrimonio del Muro de los Lamentos para conmemorar la festividad.

Me dedico al trabajo interdisciplinario con artistas y profesionales de las ciencias sociales en temas de preservación patrimonial, DDHH y gestión cultural. Esto ha permeado mi producción artística, abordando la idea de lugar como repositorio de la memoria, la identidad, el pensamiento y las emociones.

I hold a Master’s degree in Architectural Heritage Intervention from the University of Chile. I live in Buenos Aires and am currently an advanced student in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the National University of the Arts (UNA).

I specialize in interdisciplinary work with artists and social science professionals on topics related to heritage preservation, human rights, and cultural management. This has deeply influenced my artistic production, focusing on the idea of place as a repository of memory, identity, thought, and emotions.

Currently (2025), I am developing my first artwork titled "How Can a Life Cross Borders?" on @comounavida. I also provide consultancy services for restoration projects in Chile. A petición de Fernando Arroyo Celis, presentamos en este video una recreación digital de la Iglesia de Fuente Úrbel, ubicada en el municipio de Burgos, como parte de un proyecto para dar a conocer la importancia de su preservación y el esfuerzo por restaurarla. La Junta Vecinal de Fuente Úrbel ha lanzado una campaña de recaudación de fondos para llevar a cabo trabajos esenciales, como la reconstrucción de la cubierta y el piso de la torre-campanario, así como el retejado integral de la iglesia. Esta recreación en Minecraft tiene como objetivo visibilizar el proyecto y concienciar sobre la necesidad de restaurar este patrimonio histórico.
