UI leaked pebbles rot images in the local group, but suns didn't know until CW told them, which might imply that they are not part of the local group

THIS DISCUSSION IS GOING!! I've gotten a bunch of asks about this along with tags and replies oh my. Just gonna state that Suns to me and in my ask-blog is part of the local group and honestly at this point even if James himself came up to told me I'm wrong I can't change that cause I set it up already ..? SO UHH hm

ANYWAY LET'S RAMBLE!!

I honestly think the strongest pointer to the implication that SRS isn't part of the local group is the fact they didn't know about Pebbles' situation first. So Chasing Wind had to tell them!

I see it! I've always made the assumption they just weren't active in the local group messages (just like how we haven't seen a single word about Innocence in the game even if she's canonically closest to Moon and Pebbles out of the others)

^ Especially, because I assumed this meant that UI spread the information further than just the local group. Which! I don't know!

I don't think my assumption is FULLY baseless, just because of how the approach the conversation with NSH is?

They're being vague about hurting someone. If the chats were in the local group, which NSH has access to, but SRS doesn't it feels so bizarre to me they'd try to vague point at it as if there's any chance NSH wouldn't have already seen. Like what hopes do you have buddy?? The fact that Pebbles has the rot and is in such a terrible condition is like uhm... well yeah.

Still they've never been active in a local group chat and it was through Chasing that they found out about the rot situation so I don't know!

Also a good point!! Once again I read it differently! I thought the "She's very close to Five Pebbles" wasn't a descriptor, but more so a reason on why he's worried about her. "She's close to him (rot infested doofus) and I'm her friend man"

Them not knowing Moon very well isn't too much of evidence for either statement. What they did not understand about Moon is why she wouldn't force Pebbles to stop dead in his tracks and save her life. Which is an extremely valid question, because as his administrator she had the power to do so. NSH is a close friend of hers group or not and explains.

They do still call her Big Sis Moon which is rather weird if you're not part of her local group? Aside also shortening her name to just Moon. (which could be either familiarity or convenience, no solid evidence)

They also got into contact with Five Pebbles VERY soon after he was put online according to SRS themselves which is possible both ways! Just felt more likely if they were part of the local group.

We don't know what "local group" means, but I always assumed, because of the name it partly meant distance.

Iterators are VERY far from each other, usually. Like quite far even local group wise. I assumed that for a slug cat like Spearmaster to have been capable to make the journey to Pebbles and back... and then do the same AGAIN, it meant that SM made a long journey, but one that was like... y'know not from one part of the continent to the other big.

I assume distance plays a role, because in a cream pearls..

The implication is that Local groups held out together the longest.

SM was given the pearl inside their chest mainly for it to be hidden, but also as an instinct that's true! So they know where to go.

Hunter doesn't have that not because it isn't needed, but because NSH was rushing. As implied by these lines.

NSH was rushing them so much they ended up with the rot, I doubt there was any time left to perfect a homing instinct or do much of anything really. I think NSH is probably closer than SRS (just for poor Hunter's sake honestly), but I don't know by how much really- iterators seem to be built PRETTY far from each other. The only other closest neighbor is UI. Which means NSH is farther than her.

But either way yeah. I've dug info for a WHILE now I can't seem to find any super solid evidence for either. I'm just sharing my interpretation as always. You can headcanon either one of these and call them canon in my book really.

mendel is overworked because hes awful at his job otherwise he wouldn't be. hes stressed because he hates his patients and cant deal with them and only says maybe its my fault once he cant even convince jason of doing somethin. and he really just gives up at fixing it, being optimistic and not knowing what to do because he lacks the skills to work with such a huge problem. you cant just say "youre dismissing him because hes bad at his job" because that is precisely why he is overworked.

dr charlotte had to deal with misogyny and homophobia and patients dying daily and once she managed to get some control a new virus appeared and she tried pushing through it with what she could mostly by herself with most doctors not caring and trying not to stress anyone in her family and also insisting on hiding it because she was so proud of herself for being a good doctor. she doesnt know what to do either, but shes wracking her brains about it to no end. she is extremely overworked.

and thats the difference with mendel: charlotte is overworked because she was such a good doctor she never gave up despite every problem she went through, knowing it was only a matter of time and being the one to communicate "something bad is happening" with her 2 songs about it; mendel is overworked because he was a bad psychiatrist who couldn't handle his patients with superficial problems without being emotionally exhausted, being the one to communicate the optimistic statement of "everything will be alright."

Be My Favorite Finale Timeline [EP.10-12] How Pisaeng and Kawi change until they become equal

I honestly have no idea why I spent so much time on this, but the discussion with @rocketturtle4 got me thinking and, well, I like to consume my media scientifically, so I made a graph of my interpretation of the final jump xD

Somehow, I believe there wasn't really any 'different' alternate timeline this time because the changes to Kawi and Pisaeng's lives were minimal, so it can be a slightly different AU but to simplify, I'll assume it's one timeline because it makes a lot of sense. What's fascinating to me is not following their where-being (or when-being) but the changes in the characters mindsets.

I was talking about possible reasons why Kawi suddenly seemed to switch into such wise and calm demeanor during their repeated date, and I've heard of behavior patterns of Child, Parent, Adult modes.

Disclaimer: we studied it in uni very briefly cuz i'm actually STEM major but that description of mindsets opened my eyes and explained a lot to me so i'm using it, you can interpret it's probably with your own life experience; also terminology is probably not official, i'm describing it with my words and not scientific articles

So let me tell you my thoughts!

Phase [1]

Kawi and Pisaeng aren't on the equal footing even if they started to date. Kawi is into his "child mode": he's anxious and even if he's brave at times without alcohol, he's getting more anxious about being with Pisaeng due to all pressuring flirting (and Max's comments). His fears and hesitation are valid but he is protesting and running away a lot, sometimes being unnecessarily harsh and self-centered.

Pisaeng in his "parent mode" has to coax him, reassure him and sometimes manipulate to get them where he wants them, adding more not-subtle hints and more pressure onto Kawi.

Phase [2]

The date doesn't go well because they are not communicating and the power/control imbalance is too strong. It's not enough to get them to break up, of course, but it's not perfect life.

But wait – then why had the series immediately jumped to such a sweet intimate scene without any communication? Did we miss something? Why Kawi seemed to be hesitantly ready to challenge himself now when he just flatly refused to go on a scary ride with Pisaeng? First night shouldn't work when two people are on very different levels of comfort and confidence, so many viewers were worried and put off by this, me included. [especially if you consider Kawi was so heavily ace-coded throughout the show, it felt really wrong to force him to go through this in his alleged state of mind]

[now I completely recontextualized these Kawi's brave little nods, anxious blinking and heavy breathing, thanks to time-travelling hooray]

But! In EP.12 we get an explanation – Kawi actually lived the day twice (vaguely conscious of that) and experienced something very unusual that flipped his mindset – Pisaeng in distress. Kawi saw very upset and sad, scared and not confident Pisaeng in "child mode" and... immediately switched to his "parent mode" instead. (as someone who experienced this, I can tell that this switch can happen really fast and work really effective and it's not unbelievable).

Kawi is now the one reassuring Pisaeng – as someone who lived longer, as someone who already time-traveled and learned a lesson or two from time wizard and his own countless mistakes. Knowing that he and Pisaeng lived many happy years and they both don't want to change anything, left only one thought: well, then let's just be brave for each other, hold hands and face the future together, no matter what it is. I'll be strong for you when you aren't, and vice versa.

Phase [3]

Finally communicating with Pisaeng and seeing his vulnerable side, being able to provide comfort for him and gaining much-needed control, Kawi is reaching his ultimate bravery and peace in "adult mode".

It is leading him to overcome his last fears (even if taking "high adrenaline rides for adults" doesn't make him feel great anyway like he predicted, it makes Pisaeng happy so he'll do it, and they met each other in the middle instead, therefore the metaphor is complete). Kawi lives many years very content and zen-like, speaking wisdom because he's satisfied with his not-grand-not-miserable life. He also knows a bit about his future and getting extremely sick (he probably prepared that "i know what you have done!" teasing long beforehand xD) and just patiently lives his happy life, enjoying every moment in the present.

Original!Pisaeng, however, is still in his "parent mode", but since Kawi is meeting him now with more strength and confidence, they are able to move forward from disaster dates and live for years in good relationship, making many sweet domestic memories.

But it's time for Pisaeng's self-journey!

Phase [4]

Years in the future, Pisaeng is seeing Kawi's potential for stardom and celebrity fame, and he is thinking their queer relationship is bad for Kawi's life, that he's holding him back. Being "parent" all this time, he still feels responsible for Kawi. He doesn't believe that Kawi actually experienced fame in another life and doesn't want it anymore. Pisaeng thinks he doesn't improve Kawi's life. Not being able to pinpoint his fears or get answers that would satisfy him out of nonchalant enlightened Kawi, Pisaeng is slipping more into "child mode".

And when Kawi gets extremely sick, Pisaeng is hit with distressing realization that Kawi legally has no family and he's powerless to help him or do anything. All the more reasons that Kawi shouldn't have been staying in relationship with Pisaeng. Maybe they should've broken up in the past (which he actually suggest when going back). Eventually, Pisaeng is unsure, scared and in need of advice, like a child.

Phase [5]

It's only when he's experienced travelling to the past [Phase [2]], he actually believes Kawi. And Kawi insists that he would never change anything even if he knew he could die. He claims Pisaeng is the right person for him, and there's no room for any but what if? – Kawi has experienced many versions of his life, and he knows what he's talking about. Parenting reassurance of Kawi finally gives Pisaeng the peace of mind and his confidence back. [also something something hand offering-hand rejection-hand reaching-hand holding leitmotiv throughout phase 2 and phase 5]

At the happier and more peaceful version of their date, Kawi and Pisaeng already are two equal "adults" stuck in a weird little dot of a time-loop — but it is the exact moment that would define their whole life together.

Now they have similar timey-wimey experiences, mutual understanding and the same level of love, communication and bravery to face the future. That's where they definitely end up during the Time-Travelling point of Pearmai's wedding, after Pisaeng returns to the future and meets Kawi as equal.

With their lovely found family, many happy memories, bright future, both Kawi and Pisaeng are being confident and content with their lives.

Time Wizard Uncle's job is done here, for sure.

Okay so this is not headcannons but it's something I think you might have some fun with.

What do you think would Feli and Roma do of they found themselves magically locked in a room each with the younger version (young as in, how young they were before they got separated) of the other? What kind of conversation would you think they'd have?

And then after the conversation ends, Feli and Romano find themselves with their own younger self. Sorry for the unsilly ask but I'm kinda sick so. Yeah.

hello again! this ask was very interesting to respond to, so let's jump straight into it! (Spoiler: very angsty)

Premise

it's a bit tricky tracking down exactly when the Italy Brothers last saw eachother. However, I might have reached a conclusion in affirming that the year 800 is the date when these two got "officially" separated. Basically, that year is when Northen italy was incorporated in the Holy Roman Empire (HRE), while the South was being raided and conquered by the Saracens, the Byzantine Empire and the Longobards. It did not look good for neither of them during that time, but feli proooobablyyy got it better than his bro.

Moreover, taking in account that both Roma and Feli where alive in the last years of the Roman Empire, that would make them around 300 years old. Not terribly young, but I envision them as preteens during that period, since they didn't have any autonomy over their territories for many years (not being independent is something that affects nation growth in my canon lol. although nations can grow up from other means even if under foreign influence).

Romano

If Romano ever got locked in a room with a roughly 10 year old Felice, I think he would immediately hug him and react very emotionally. I'm not gonna lie, Romano wasn't very fond of his brother even before they got separated by foreign powers. He was the golden child, the favorite, the one that (unintentionally) outshined him in every way possible and one of the roots of his inferiority complex.

So seeing this small kid, scared just like him at that time, at the mercy of this new powerful nation that is HRE and so on. if no one was in the room with them well... he would be eaten by remorse. Romano would hug him, tell him that everything would turn alright for him, and that he would not endure all the hardships that Romano otherwise had to sustain.

Felice

When Feli comes face to face with an angry and also scared 12 year old Romano, he would initially be at a loss. This kid absolutely hates the man that it is in front of him, so the initial approach would be...awkward, but only initially!

Feli would talk gentle words to his "big" brother, seeing an otherwise wounded kid rather than the mean big brother he once thought he was. Feli would then comfort little Romano, even going as far to excuse himself for not sticking with him till the end. And, after a lot of calming down little Roma (he was spewing obscenities as soon as he saw his "little" grown up bro), he would hug him. Even if the child is the kid is throwing punches at his chest, he's going to hug him anyways. Feli recognizes that he needs it.

so yeah! that's about it. in both scenarios there's a lot of feels and words that they would probably never say to eachother in today's age LMAO. I guess if they ever saw the kid versions of themselves/the opposites, the young appearance would make them instantly melt in an emotional puddle. these guys have trauma~

New budget Commander cards: Wilds of Eldraine: Multicolor and colorless

You know these by now, we’ll go color by color, mixing main set and commander set. Reprints can be included if they brought the price down under our bar or are otherwise notable. All the cards presented here are under $2 at time of writing Note that the set hasn’t officially released yet, so some prices may still be inflated, and others might spike in the future. Cards will be evaluated as part of the 99, not as commanders. This is the second of two multicolor write-ups, the other focused on the adventures from the set.

A 4 mana creature that needs additional mana AND to untap before doing anything is not a winning proposition she can do some pretty fun things with enchantments though, be them auras or not. By herself, she can pay two to scry 2 and draw a card with unbridled growth, for example, as many times as you have mana. Is that worth the effort? Probably not, but it's a fun option for enchantment decks. She does work with auras or enchantments with great etb effects like Sage's Reverie or Mantle of the Ancients... But those cards don't need help to be good already.

If you can avoid the third chapter, either through saccing, destroying, blinking, or removing counters from the saga, this is a great rate for clones, particularly nonlegendary, hasty ones. Hate Mirage is a decent card, and this trades immediate value for more value in the long term, but if this make you two (or more!) permanent clones for four mana, it's a great card!

Those creatures that make everything enter with a +1/+1 counter are usually already three mana at least. This is that, but enabling a bunch of enchantment synergies instead, and coming packaged with some minor upsides (Trample from the Monster Role and Ward 1 from the Royal Role will be the most common choices.) And this is a 3/4 ward 1, essentially, for three mana. It doesn't go infinite with Persist like the +1/+ counter variants, nor with tokens, but it's great at triggering constellation or pumping up an All That Glitters... Or a Virtuous Role from the same precon.

I mentioned in the Red write-up that Rakdos aristocrats was getting more and more tools lately, mostly focused on combat aristocraty things. This just gives an extra body and death trigger for every nontoken creature, which should do wonder in Aristocraty decks. And at the very least, it triggers by itself too.

This tappy legend that wants you to tap things is good when you tap things. If you have a deck built around that, like Rhoda and Timin, here's a couple new auto-includes! That might be in consideration for your command zone, to be honest.

Two mana looters are quite good these days, uh? Two mana for a looter that also flies and can pseudo-reanimate by itself with flying... Is probably a great option for any deck that wants to do things with their graveyard, but at its best in reanimator decks. And it can keep shifting afterwards! Not much to say here other than this is a great two-drop.

X/X flier for X is already pretty good, making a few food tokens along the way and then drawing you a card a turn makes this solid. At least, if you've got a deck to fit it in, Simic isn't the most food-y color.

And we close multicolor with a Faerie that wants you to play Draw Go. It's a bit weird that she doesn't have flash herself, unlike Nymris, but there's still a bit of value there. With that said, this would likely be pretty far from my preferred option for instant-speed payoffs.

I like Azor's gateway, looting like that on something that doesn't die easily is pretty convenient to see more cards, however, discarding is better than exiling cards. Here, we have essentially that, without the dream of flipping (which is vanishingly rare), but with the ability to do more shenanigans with Treasures or store up mana. This one will play better than it looks.

Another one that's likely to get brushed off, but this is I think a pretty underrated way to draw cards in commander at this point. Six mana is a lot, don't get me wrong, but it's in two installments and people do play their Rishkar's Expertises and Return of the Wildspeaker. This gives you a nice upside of managing attacks early, and then it's not uncommon to see four, five or more creatures tapped in commander, at which point this is more than worth the cost. You can activate both halves at instant speed, and the draw doesn't need to tap, so you can also tap down a thing before cracking it for one more card. I haven't seen many commander players mention this, but if you want a big burst of card draw outside of green or blue, give this crown a try!

A mana rock for 2 is not as notable for commander as it is for Standard, but it's still relevant to know about. There's plenty of other options for rocks, particularly colorless ones, but this one probably would go best in an equipment deck, as written on it, where it can pull double duty as a rock early and an equipment late. How often will that actually be relevant? Probably almost never, but it's on theme?

The cheapest Act of Treason that any deck can get access to, and one of the first. It's not super efficient or anything, but stealing creatures from the board outside of blue (and red for temporary like this) is very rare and is very potent. This one in particular could see use in white or blue to be blinked and reused, in black to sacrifice whatever you stole... It's pretty specific, but good to know about.

Reprint

This reprint didn't bring Soul-Guide Lantern under our threshold because it already was very cheap. It still is, cheaper than ever. It's probably the best non-committal option for graveyard hate outside of manabases, and responsible players do play graveyard hate. Do it. It's one sided, it's a single mana, it cycles if you don't need it, it can be fetched by Urza's Saga, and it has a new art that probably looks amazing in foil.

TELEPATHY + OTHER PSYCHIC ARTS

Not to be confused with other psychic abilities like telekinesis as most psychic trainers are known for. Most don't even know Lucian has any psychic abilities despite being an Elite psychic trainer, but it's mostly because he feels like it's just a side note to his character really. Like everything else he can do it's all used in pursuit of knowledge.

What he can do: read minds, transmit thoughts without speaking, look into inner most memories and intuitions, and manipulate human sensory. It's mostly focused on the core of a person with other side affects like his photographic memory which makes speed reading very easy.

Note things that he can't do: telekinesis which is a completely different field in the psychic arts. Well known psychic trainers like Caitlin and Avery can manipulate and move objects in their environment. Divination as well is the ability to channel spirits, see into past/future events or communicate with otherwordly powers ( though not to be confused with Mediums who fall into ghost specialists). Olympia is well known and powerful divinator thanks to her psychic abilities. The most well known psychic trainer and considered a well respected psychic master is Sabrina from Kanto who has specialized in several abilities.

And finally he can't communicate to Pokemon which he finds annoying when brought up, please oh my arceus he has no idea what the fuck your bidoof is saying about you. Pokemon are on a different "wavelength" then humans, much like how humans can't hear a dog whistle while canids can pick it up. Zoolingualism is hotly debated even within the psychic community though there has been some claim that very sensitive psychics can tune into the pokemon specific wavelength and vice versa. Some Pokemon are sensitive and intelligent enough to communicate with humans through telepathy, like noted legendary gods who's wavelengths are so great it's easy enough to tune into "lowly" human channels whether they're psychic typed or not. Intelligent and powerful psychic Pokemon too can either fully communicate with their trainers this way, can be taught, or find other ways to do so. The Abra line is adept to this mostly after they evolve into Kadabra when their psy truly awakens. The ralts line can not communicate at least by word. Instead their psy focuses primarily on their connection and empathic abilities. And finally there's some speculation on the rumored pokemon MEWTWO who is supposedly the STRONGEST psychic pokemon to exist can freely talk to humans and then some. But it's considered hostile and deeply misanthropic, so no trainer least of all psychic wants to see for themselves just to get their brains scrambled or body pancaked.

All in all the psychic community is a varied one but often rather clique-ish in parts. There's a wide difference between being a psychic trainer and a "trainer with psychic pokemon" for example. Even worse if they change specialties we dont talk about Bede. Lucian has his place as a respected telepath and does make efforts to go to prestigious meet-ups, ya know, if he ain't stuck in a book or doing elite duties.

Now while he has these abilities there's first knowing the integrity of the person and having their permission. A persons mind is their last solitude after all. If someone opens up to him he's able to read their complete character; everything from their most tender memories to their deepest locked away secrets. There's also dealing with the weak-minded who are very sensitive to psy abilities and can actually badly hurt or kill them even.

Doing this with force is dangerous for both parties. Resisting can hemorrhage the brain and commit them both to a coma, more so often the other person because Lucian has good control over his powers. Doing this too long as well can cause fatigue and bad migraines and at worst amnesia and memory loss. They are both completely vulnerable to the outside meanwhile as it takes both their complete concentration and breaking a connection suddenly complicates things.

That's not to say he HAS done this without permission of course... Like maybe being so adept he can sneak into a conscious without the other noticing. Oh no...never. Like he wouldn't to privy some information he just HAS to know in his quest for knowledge or trying to find some secret tome or intimate legend....of course not. Why would anyone think that if they resisted he might've just picked and pried and yanked it out anyways? That's silly. He's a class elite after all. His pursuit in knowledge is only to better understand the world and himself better! Of course!

But you know...there's always something new to learn as they say that you can't get out of a book.
