Kingdom Collisions II
I've just finished a book and it made me cry so happily I thought I'd post a fanfic to commemorate it. Also I'm probably going to start an AWAE/AoGG account soon because I cannot fathom living my life without a space dedicated to my darling loves. Anyway that isn't relevant to the post. This is just a fun little fic I've been writing on the side to try incorporate more descriptions into my writing (I'm a known dialogue whore). I see fit to write it whenever I feel like, so updates may be far and few between, however I do hope you enjoy whatever does come out. I adore this moody ansgty side to jercy. It's been fun to explore.

Leave me alone.
[we have known loneliness forever]
Why did I ever agree to this?
[so we do not quite know what it is like]
I never asked you to say yes!
[to want]
Fuck you.
[one another]
-lonliness is a two-sided conversation//badpoetry
Percy doesn't even look at his husband. Doesn't acknowledge his perfect hair, or blazing eyes, or how close they're sitting. He just stares directly out the car window, arms folded across his chest. The rolling hills and wild lavender dance past his vision as the car bounces along the gravel road. They are almost to their destination, to solid ground and quiet, peace. Despite the circumstances he is excited to be back at the cabin his family has owned for so many years. He relishes in the fact that he can escape somewhere that is untainted by the rest of his life. Throngs of people, and public demand, and never ending scrutiny.
He is nothing short of pissed that he has to share his safe place with someone he despises so sweetly it is honey on his tongue to talk to them. But his mother had insisted if they were to act like a married couple they would have to go on a honeymoon and he had only agreed if he could choose the place. She wanted to send them to some private beach in Spain where they could pretend to be alone, oblivious to the paparazzi that were sure to follow, and the people who wanted to meet not one but two crown princes. It was his final stance that if he were being forced to spend time with his husband, it would at least be where he could enjoy it.
"Prince," A crackling voice says through the speakers.
Percy clicks a button on the arm rest, "Yes Mr James?"
"The security team has secured the area, would you like us to drop the bags off before you head inside or after?"
"Whenever suits you Mr James, I'm going for a walk."
Jason who had since then, fallen asleep, jolts awake as they go over a particularly bumpy area.
"And your husband Prince?"
"Ask him yourself, I'm sure he has much to say on the matter." Percy huffs, turning away.
"Prince Grace,"
Jason glares at Percy unimpressed with his dismissal and his rudeness towards the driver.
"Yes James sir?"
"Would you like your bags dropped off before or after you enter the area?"
"Before please, I feel it will help me settle in much easier if everything is already there."
Percy wants to scoff, who talks like that? This pretentious, stuck-up, goodie two-shoes is who. He wants to stick his tongue out, settle their rivalry like five year olds battling to see who can scowl for longer. Mostly, desperately he just wants to get out of this damn car. His leg bounces in time with the bumps, and his hands fidget in his lap. For all his princely training nobody ever managed to get him to sit perfectly still. His mother had finally given up and started carrying drawing pads and pencils wherever she went.
"Can you stop moving!" Jason growls.
"If it bothers you so much get out and walk." He spits back.
An eye roll is the reply but by then the car finally rumbles to a stop and a security detail is opening their doors.
"Princes,"
"Thank you Madison, Arlo." He manages to grit before he stomps off down the path and disappears into the woods.
"Where are you going?" He hears his husband yell. He doesn't bother to reply, someone will tell the Prince.
He kicks at the dark soil and pulls breath after breath into his lungs. He needs to calm down. Just then his ears catch the soft bubbling of a stream and he heads in the direction of the noise. The woods are quiet and cool. A soft breeze flutters between velvety leaves and needled pines, stirring the undergrowth. He wants to become one with the trees, become a branch that sways in greeting and grows friends, and feels the wind wrapping around it every evening. He just wants to stop being human for a little while.
And then the stream is underneath him, soaking his fancy shoes and fine thread socks. He laughs, tugs them off and sits down in the middle of the cold, flowing water. He can feel it run into him like ice in his veins. He dips a finger in, then another, his whole hand and shudders at the smooth caress. It has been so long since he just got to be. Here in this little stream, pants soaking, hands turning blue he has never felt so faraway, out of his body. The world narrows to his fingertips, to the bead of water running down his ankle and joining its family once more. His brain is far and long forgotten, simply taking up space in his skull. He decides right then and there that if he ever comes back to this world he'll come back as a rock in the stream. To live in this beautiful, ever-moving world, where the cold is a kiss and you can never meet the same drop of water twice seems a good life indeed.
Just then he hears a rustle behind him. In an instant he’s on his feet, pulling a dagger from his suit jacket, a white-knuckled grip on the hilt.
"Whoever you are come out right now. I am not in the mood."
"Relax," A deep smooth voice says, "It's just me."
"Oh," He pulls his lips up in half disappointment, half relief it wasn't danger. "What do you want?"
"Mr James wants to know if you want five or ten of the guards here for the remainder of the time here."
"I want zero." He frowned, "I just want to be left in peace for the next few days."
"Well it's not an option so choose." Practical, always so practical.
"Leave five here, there's three other cabins about half a mile out on either side of ours that should be enough space. Everyone else can go home."
"Of course, I'll leave you to it then." Jason nods, stands there awkwardly for a moment longer and then disappears into the greenery once more.
Percy doesn't know what to do, doesn't know whether he should scream or cry or laugh.
He hadn't let himself think too hard about the events of the last few weeks. He had shoved every feeling but contempt and general dislike deep deep down into his cage and threw the key into the deepest parts of his ocean of thoughts. He wasn't sure he had the strength to unpack everything that had happened. When his mother had came to him all those weeks ago a heartbroken look in her eyes he knew whatever had happened would be nothing short of a disaster. Within the week he was promised to Crown Prince Jason Grace of Caelum and had been shoved into endless, meetings in which wedding arrangements and economic agreements had to be made.
He didn't even meet the Prince till the night before they were to be wed but by then Percy had despised the whole ordeal so intensely he hadn't any happiness or hope left in him to be kind to the Prince. And even if he did gave some it would have vanished completely upon their introduction. Jason looked at him with such calculating authority he had reminded Percy of an old tutor who thought children should be seen and not heard, and learn whatever was given to them without question. Jason had been stiff, and unyielding, and looked just as unhappy or even unhappier to be meeting him. At dinner Jason only spoke when spoken too, he didn't fidget even once, and worst of all he somehow still managed to charm his mother in about five seconds. One dimpled smile, and a cute story about his first time riding a horse and Queen Sally Jackson had accepted him as one of their own. Percy on the other hand was ignored the entire dinner, and on the walk in the gardens, at the insistence of his advisor, they hardly said two words to each other. Whether it was because Jason was lost in his own world or letting his displeasure for the whole ordeal simmer and burn into their company as Percy was he would never know. Either way the walk ended with a gruff, formal goodbye before they headed to their rooms.
Percy shuts out the politics of the arrangement and how his life has turned into this unrecognizable hurricane of chaos. He cups some of water in his hands and drops it over his curls. Letting it drip down his temples and catch on his collarbones. The coolness soothes him, as water has always done. Finally when his blood is no longer boiling with hidden anger he steps out of the stream, picking up his discarded shoes and socks and sinks into the earth with each step.
The cabin has a soft orange glow in the windows, and the many cars that escorted them have disappeared. He throws his belongings by the door, shucks his pants off and steps inside. The interior is just as he remembers it. Where the castle was dripping with opulence and royalty, the cabin was simple and stripped to the bare essentials. He had always loved the place. Even when he was little and his mom would whisk him away for a secret weekend. She would pack hoards of cookies and ice-cream and light the fire immediately. They would sit on the soft, fleece rug, her with a book and him with his sketchpad, sipping cocoa and spooning ice cream straight from the tub. Then he didn't have to be the prince one day inheriting the crown and she didn't have to be the Queen dealing with every problem under the sun. They hadn't been back in a good few years and he misses everything about the space. He is silently grateful that Jason has lit the fire. Something familiar to hold onto.
"You're back." The Golden Prince says.
"Astute observation." He rolls his eyes but the blonde doesn't look up from whatever he's doing.
Percy walks into the space, shrugging his suit jacket off and unbuttoning his wrinkled white shirt. He hears a sharp inhale and glances up to see a red cheeked Jason staring at him.
"Why aren't you wearing any pants?"
"Oh," He laughs softly, "Yea they were wet so I took them off before I came in."
He sputters and blushes, glancing down and then peaking back up again.
"You alright there Prince?"
Jason clears his throat, and Percy watches that golden Adam's apple bob. His skin prickles with heat and he knows its time to go.
"I'm going to shower. I'll give you a tour afterwards if you want."
"That would be great."
With a nod in which they both avoid eye contact and general pleasantry he disappears into one of the three rooms of the cabin.
His shower is scorching, water pummeling against tired muscles. His mother always says a good shower and steaming cup of tea can fix more problems than a board of professionals. So far she hasn't been wrong.
"Hey," He walks back into the lounge sometime later, looking down as he ties the string on his pants, "You ready?"
The house is dead quiet, save for the crackle of the fire and the soft wind that whispers in the grooves of the floor.
"Jason?" He frowns, moving to stand in front of him.
The Prince is fast asleep, head lolling forward, book still clasped in his hands. Percy takes in his husband for the first time. Unobstructed by either of their waking emotions, or the general hustling that had shrouded their lives. Jason, he grudgingly admits, is beautiful. His hair looks soft and golden, and when it catches the light of the fire he's sure it's made from sunshine itself. And his skin is such a startling contrast to Percy's rich brown colour. The Prince's body, now folded into an awkward bent angle as he lay across the velvet-cushioned chair, is lithe and graceful. Corded with muscle but somehow still smooth in a way only an uptight Prince with a personal trainer may ever achieve. At least, he thinks sordidly, if I'm forced to marry someone he is as darling as Jason.
The blonde stirs softly, hand twitching, before he settles back into his position. As awkward and unhappy the two are with each other Percy can't leave him here. He's sure the Prince will bend into a chair himself if he slept like that all night long. So he gently taps his husband's shoulder, waking him almost immediately. Jason has never been a particularly heavy sleeper, and it is worse when he finds himself in a place he doesn't know. He blinks up at the world, blue eyes bright. They reminds Percy of the cat-eye aquamarine, the gemstone sat at the base of every crown ever made for his kingdom. He wonders what it says that the colour of his husband's eyes are also the colour he most associates with home. Just as quickly he expels those thoughts, content to bask in his clear dispassion and irritation for as long as this should last.
Jason scrubs a hand over his face, "Sorry you wanted to take me on a tour?"
"No, no there's time for that tomorrow. Why don't you head up to bed."
"Oh, okay. Goodnight then,"
"Goodnight Prince," He says stiffly.
"Sleep easy."
A nod in return and they both retire to their rooms, content to put the last week far behind them. Bury it under dreams, and hopes, and the promise of a tomorrow where nothing has tarnished it yet.
Percy left his window open, watched the tree outside it sway gently. Maybe tomorrow he would climb it and become acquainted with the birds in the nest.
He falls asleep, finally, to the chirp of crickets and the soft rustle of whispering leaves.

Jason Grace grinned flinging a hand out to wrap around a lean, corded arm.
"Thought you weren't gonna catch me for a sec Grace,"
"The only falling you're doing is for me Jackson,"
Percy laughed, eyes twinkling with mischief, "Save it for after we're out of this hellhole... literally."
"Oh I plan to," Jason purred.
They slammed into the ashen floor, dust and debris crunching under their feet.
"Just have to make it past this river and we're home free." Dark eyebrows creased in determination.
"I have never been so excited to get into a body of water before." The blonde shuddered.
"Hopefully I have enough strength to keep it from touching us," Percy's voice cracked.
Jason grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers and squeezing softly. "We have gotten this far Pers, we will make it through. Together."
"Yea I know, I know," The half-blood shook his head, returning the reassuring squeeze.
Without letting go the two walked towards the Archeron. This crossing would be the hardest by far. The one that could end them. The river called to the miserable and who could be more miserable than two demigods who have fought their whole lives to stay alive and know they will fight even after this. The River of Woe. It was fitting that it'd be the last stop in this hellscape.
"Hello ssssweeetheartsss," A hissing started from behind them.
The demigods stiffened, clasped hands as white as sheets. Slowly they turned around, swords swinging aimlessly.
"Well well well I was starting to wonder when the dogs would bark," Percy smirked.
"Shut it ssssson of Poseidon," The thing spat.
"Hey that's no way to talk to people. Didn't your mother raise you to have some manners?" Jason chided, a gleam in his eyes.
"It will be ssssweet to kill you,"
"It'll be sweeter if you shut up," Percy snapped.
The thing smiled and it looked like dying. But what all these monsters failed to understand is that the half-bloods they faced did not fear death. The Son or Poseidon and the Child of Greece embraced it like an old friend, like a warm hug. They watched death smile and grinned back.
"Jase, I've been meaning to ask you," Percy mused, twirling his sword in his hand, "Have you figured out how to manipulate the electricity that controls our nervous system?"
Jason's eyes glittered, "Oh yea, I actually figured it out a couple of hours ago. Your blood-bending really had me thinking,"
The creature, with its serpent tail and fanged mouth, its ugly leathery wings and uneven scaled skin, glanced between them. Without warning it struck that spiked tail into Percy's side.
With a resounding clang the poisoned end bounced back, and slammed into the ground. The demigod looked up from where his now dented sword had been covering his side, green eyes glowing.
"That wasn't very nice,"
The monster let out a vile screech and pounced. Jason had a split second to bring his sword over his head before the rugged underside of this thing fell over him.
Before it could claw at the through skin and bone, the blonde was rolling onto his feet and slicing his sword into a charcoal wing. He could see Percy sawing at the other side and couldn't help the smile that graced his features. Percy's hair was curly and wild, his sea green eyes so bright they were luminescent, and the muscles in his torn shirt sleeve rippled as he worked through the wing.
The monster beneath their blades shrieked and thrashed but before long its wings were twitching on the floor. But with the pinion sliced off the demigods didn't have anything to keep it down so they were both unprepared when it swiped its tail across their legs, slamming their bodies into the ground.
With a groan Percy rolled over, "Fuck that hurt,"
"The next time I wanted us to be on our backs it involved much more fun activities than this," Jason growled.
Before either of them could get up, the heavy weight of cold, bony feet pressed them into the dirt.
"Not sssssoooo arrogant now," It cackled.
"Do you ever stop talking?" The black-haired boy sighed.
The creature hissed, claws protruding to rip out their throats, "I will kill you Percy Jac—"
It froze, eyes wide, claws stiff, sides leaking some variation of tar.
"If you ever," Jason’s voice was low, seductive with the promise of malice, "Ever threaten him again I will slaughter you so violently you will not even be remembered by history. I will scatter you so far the world will have to fold in on itself to put you back together. This is a warning."
And with that the monster contorted, limbs bending at awkward angles. It gave a disgusting shuddered, twitching and shaking, before falling to the floor and crumbling to dust.
"Damn Grace, is it weird that I am horribly turned on right now?" Percy threw a heartbreaking smile his way.
"You are such a freak, let's get out of here so I can explore it," Jason returned the smile.
"I'm holding you to that Lightning-Boi"
"Just get your ass over here so I can hold you." His voice was shaky as he held his hand out for Percy.
"Hey," The Son of Poseidon frowned, brushing golden hair back softly, "Hey, it’s okay. I'm here. I'm safe. You'd never let anything happen to me."
The blonde put a hand to his chest, feeling the steady heartbeat underneath.
"You aren't allowed to die on me. I will hunt you down and kill you again." His words were rough, stern, but the softness in his eyes melted Percy to the core.
"Only if you can promise me the same,"
The Son of Jupiter nodded, letting his forehead drop to rest against Percy's.
"Ready to cross the River of Misery?"
"One step closer," The black-haired boy sighed.
And with a final brush against a golden cheek, they intertwined their hands once more and stepped into the river that would take them home.

Hello friend. Seeing you in my inbox makes me smile all goofy. I hope you're good!
I didn't go into as much detail as you probably would like but I hope you enjoy this nonetheless :) it was great fun to write.
And let's all agree to ignore the fact that when I made the post asking for prompts I said they'd mostly be jercy and so far I've written anyone else except jercy?!?! Okay glad we're ignoring it, I appreciate it thank you!

"Miss Chase! Miss Chase!"
"Please Miss Chase, can you confirm the rumors regarding you an—"
Annabeth closed the door behind her, holding in a groan of frustration. The paparazzi were endless and demanding today, more so than usual anyhow.
And she knew it could be attributed to the pictures that bombarded the internet yesterday of her and her co-star practicing a scene in what was supposed to be an empty dressing room.
"Annabeth, hey." A warm, raspy voice greeted her.
"Hi," She smiled, thanking the shadows over her face for hiding her blush.
"Paparazzi are mad today aren't they?"
They walked towards the stage doors and into a bustling room.
"Yea," She grimaced, "Usually I wake up to the birds but today it was to delightful yelling outiside my apartment."
"Tell me about it," Piper McLean, co-star, friend, and Annabeth's secret crush, rolled her beautiful brown eyes.
It was unfair, a crime that Annabeth had to spend hours a day staring into those sparking pools of honey, flecks of forest green and ocean blue catching in the light.
"So we have to do the big "falling off the building" scene today,"
She dragged herself back to the present, "I thought we were redoing yesterday's stuff?"
"Tanaka thinks it'll be easier to start fresh. "Get a new perspective," as she put it." Her coworker grumbled.
"Good morning Chase," Nico di Angelo waved from the sound box.
"Hello Nico, how's it going?"
"Definitely had a better morning than you," He teased.
She flipped him off, turning away at his answering laugh.
"Drew wants to see you in her office."
"Oo what trouble did you get yourself into?" Her co-star waggled dark sculpted brows.
She shoved her lightly, dismissing it with a wave of her hand and ducked into the director's office.
***
"Annabeth come look at this," Piper called, as she stepped back into the room.
"What's going on?"
"Look what Nico and Valdez found."
She should have known by the grin on their faces that it wouldn't be anything good.
They shoved a cellphone in her hand, the screen open to a picture. No, art work of some kind. She pulled the phone closer, gaping as she registered exactly what she was looking at.
It was her, and Piper, locked in a passionate embrace. Piper had a soft, silk gown draped over her gorgeous brown skin, and Annabeth had on a baby blue bralette, covered in lace. You couldn't see past her waist but it didn't matter because the positioning made it obvious that their activities had just ended. The window behind them was misted, smudged like one of them had been up against it. And the colours in the background— soft purples, and warm yellow light, and the faintest traces of orange. Like they were caught in the middle of a sunset.
Her skin felt tight, burning. Her stomach was an eruption of butterflies.
"Personally," Her co-star grinned, "I think we look hot as fuck."
She blinked in surprise, cheeks flushing impossibly red, "You do?"
"Hell yes, what do you think Valdez?"
"As the pyrotech on this project I gotta say I've rarely encountered such heat." He winked.
"What did Drew have to say?" Nico nodded his head to the door, drawing their attention away from the art much to Annabeth's relief.
"Oh she just wanted to know if I was alright after everything that happened with the pictures yesterday."
"Are you alright?"
"Yea," She gave him a reassuring smile, "Nothing I haven't dealt with before."
"She didn't ask me if I was good." Piper pouted.
"You've been at this since you were little McLean she probably knows you can handle it." Leo pointed out.
"Besides," Annabeth smirked, "We all know you live for the drama."
Piper's mouth fell open, "I absolutely do not!"
They laughed at her, to which she flipped them all off.
"It's okay McLean we love you anyway."
"Oh yea?" She narrowed her eyes, "Prove it Di Angelo."
"Oo if I wasn't gay as hell I would have thought you were flirting Miss McLean," Nico teased
"I'm just naturally charming," She huffed in pretend annoyance.
Annabeth pretended to immerse herself in the food table next to them, surveying the options with great intent. It was moments like this that brought all her uncertainty back. Her and Piper were close, but Piper flirted with everyone. That was just who she was. It just meant Annabeth never really knew if she was being sincere when they fell into soft lingering moments or spent too many seconds letting their gazes wander. And last night when they had collapsed on the couch, Piper's head tucked onto her shoulder as they read lines. That was the picture circling the internet now.
"Alright!" Drew Tanaka clapped her hands, snapping them all into action. "Let's get going. We may have the day but the day does not have us."
"What does that even mean?" Nico gave them an incredulous look and then laughed when they all shrugged, just as clueless him.
People rushed around the room, pulling cameras and props all over the place.
"Annabeth," Piper pulled her aside, "Are you okay you look a little, well uh—"
"I'm fine," The question wasn't helping her skin cool down, "Just a little in shock after that art."
"I think we better get used to it," Her co-star laughed, eyes bright, "But for what it's worth, they were right."
"About?" She frowned.
Piper smiled, beautiful and unrestrained, "If we were a couple, we'd be a work of art."
Annabeth didn't have time to respond before they were dragged off by makeup artists and hair stylists.
Yet when she sat down in the chair being prodded and poked, her mind looped through the conversation. And slowly, softly she grinned.
They'd be a masterpiece.

-----------------------------------------------
Percy had woken up this morning with the express intent of getting to the university early and starting on the increasing pile of admin he had yet to attend to. What had actually happened was a ripped pants, a spilled coffee, endless traffic, and a department meeting that resulted in him being an escort for the marine field trip. Today was the definition of Murphy’s Law.
“Good afternoon Doc,”
“Afternoon Katie,”
“Hey Doc,”
“Hello Tyson, Ella,”
Students filed into the lecture venue waving or grunting a hello as they passed him. He tried to keep a smile through the greetings, but the weight of the day hung heavy in his mind. Once most people had settled in he clapped his hands and hopped onto the desk, as he did every lecture.
“Listen up seaweed-brains,” The class groaned at the familiar nickname eliciting a grin from Percy, “I will never understand why you guys don’t find that hilarious. You are marine biologists after-all.”
“It’s unbecoming Doc, and cheesy,” A voice from the middle piped up.
“Hazel Levesque how dare you tell me my favourite nickname is unbecoming,” He mocked hurt, holding a hand to his chest.
The class laughed at that and Percy winked playfully at the small, fierce student. She rolled her eyes but smiled at her professor.
“Alright I got some news which is bad for me and good for you,” They settled down, staring intently at him, “The field trip to the marine conservation center was approved and I have to be the one looking after you lot,” It was his turn to groan.
A series of whoops and excited chatter broke out around the class. It had been forever since they were allowed to visit the conservation center. The university’s budget had been tight for some years, so they had only managed to go once in the four-year degree even though they were supposed to go every year. Percy couldn’t help but smile as he watched his class take in the news, their faces glowing with excitement. He checked his watch, giving them a few minutes to discuss before interrupting them to finally start the lecture.
“Alright you sorry sack of sponges, let’s get to it!”
And with a murmured chortle through the class they started the lecture.
“So most shallow coral reefs have a symbiotic relationship with a photosynthetic algae that-“
A knock on the lecture room door cut off his sentence. Percy frowned, looking over, and then tried very hard to stop the blush creeping up his neck. Standing in the doorway a feint smile on his face was Dr. Jason Grace.
“Sorry to interrupt the lecture Professor but can I have a word,”
The class broke out into hushed whispers, exchanging suspicious glances and gleeful smiles.
“Of course Dr. Grace,” He turned to his students, “Excuse me everyone.”
“Go right ahead Prof, we don’t mind at all,” A curly-haired Latino with a mischievous grin replied.
“Gee thanks Leo, I’m grateful,”
The class snickered and Percy debated giving them all a pop quiz just for it but Jason was waiting, patiently.
He stepped out of the room, easing the door shut behind him.
“Hello Doctor,” He said, hoping the blush would stay far away.
The man looked as good as ever; dark jeans, and a sky-blue shirt with the beautiful addition of the sleeves rolled up his forearms. It was hard not to stare without drooling.
“How many times do I have to ask you to call me Jason?” The blonde teased.
“Force of habit,” He winced apologetically.
“I’m sorry I had to pull you out of class, but I don’t have any free time and I wanted to know what I should be bringing on the field trip this Friday?”
Percy’s head shot up, eyes clashing with pools of blue, “You’re the other chaperone on the trip?”
“Yea, they asked me to because I’m one of the only faculty members available this Friday. Everyone in the medical department is going to some charity ball for the Half-Blood Hospital but I had plans I couldn’t get out of so I didn’t accept the invite, and now those plans are cancelled and I’m pretty much free all weekend,” He rambled, eyes darting every which way.
Percy couldn’t help the giggle that escaped him and then with a mortified look he tried to cover it up with a cough. “Well I hope you plan something fun for the weekend now that it’s open,” He smiled.
Jason blushed, electric eyes wide, “Sorry, I tend to go on if no-one stops me.”
“I don’t know if anyone can, it’s kind of adorable.”
That made the blonde blush harder, skin turning as red as a rose fish, “So about the fieldtrip…” He mumbled.
“Right, right yes,” Percy nodded, eyes glazing as he tried to remember what they usually need, “Dress casually, because we often end up soaking wet; someone always topples into a fish tank. Pack water and snacks because for some reason you get really hungry while staring at fish?” He laughed at that. “Oh and a little emergency kit but I’m sure I didn’t have to tell you that Mister Neurologist.”
“I figured the emergency kit was a must since I’m technically first aid on this trip,” His mouth twitched in amusement.
“Guess we’re in good hands then,” He winked.
Jason shrugged, a slow smile tugging at his lips, “I guess you are.”
Percy’s eyes widened, heat beating so loud it was a wonder how his students behind the door couldn’t hear it. He stared, failing to process anything as the deep rolling voice of the man before him played on a loop in his brain.
A throat cleared, ripping Percy out of his hazy thoughts.
“Well thank you for the information. Guess I’ll see you on Friday,”
“Yea, I guess you will.” He nodded, still coming back to the present.
“Bye Percy,”
“Bye Doctor– uh Jason, bye.”
A fading chuckle followed a dazzled Percy back into the lecture room where the rowdy chatter of his students ceased, giving away to dead silence.
“So Doc, how’s Professor Grace?” Someone piped up gleefully.
That snapped Percy right into reality, head finally escaping the intoxicating spell that the neurologist always seemed to put him under.
“Dr Grace is fine Will,” He narrowed his eyes, “Now, where were we?”
“I think we were just about to discuss when you and the doc were gonna get together?”
Percy’s entire body set itself on fire. “Wha- what- what are you talking about?”
“Aw come on Prof, it’s obvious you two have been pining over each other for years. I feel like as your favourite students it would be a great graduation gift to finally see you guys together.”
“Yea Prof, he’s been single for two years now. Mrs McLean is happily married to Mrs Chase.”
“Guys you know I think you’re the best, but we are not discussing my love life right now especially,” He glared at them, “When it’s about a colleague of mine.”
“Aw come on Prof this is much more exciting than the benefits between coral reefs and algae,” Frank pleaded.
“Right but it’s not going to help you get your degree and besides we have to get this done before the trip on Friday so hush up and let me carry on.”
“Wait before you start Doc, who’s the other chaperone?” Leo asked. A round of nods and agreeing murmurs carried through the class.
Percy looked to the ceiling in exasperation, knowing the news would guarantee the class being a lost cause. He looked at those curious faces, who have been under his teaching and guidance for three years, and sighed, “It’s Dr Grace.”
There was a collective gasp around the room before all twenty of them turned to each other and started whispering furiously among themselves.
“Alright, alright, whatever is happening make it stop. We have things to do.”
They all turned back to him, sharp grins on their faces.
“How does Dr Grace feel about swimming with sharks” Katie asked, eyes wide in feigned innocence.
“Absolutely not Miss Gardner. No way.” He gave them a stern look.
Their grins just got wider.
Percy had a feeling he would be diving into a shark tank on a rescue mission come Friday. With a sigh, and a smile he tried hard to hide he turned back to the lecture, salvaging the last few minutes with his favourite, most meddlesome students.

------------------------------------------------------------------
The week passed by in a blur of classes, coffee, and contemplation over a certain black-haired, green-eyed professor. Jason was becoming fed up with how much he thought about the marine biologist, but everything reminded him of Percy Jackson.
Just yesterday he had passed by a little kid with a dolphin backpack and his first thought was Percy probably knows what species that is. It was such a bizarre and unexciting thought he almost knocked his own teeth in. Now it was Friday: the day he would be surrounded by Percy and everything marine related. He wasn’t sure he was going to survive.
With a deep, calming breathe he hopped out the car and headed towards the Biology and Oceanography building.
“Jason!” A bright voice called.
He turned around, a smile already taking over his face, “Good morning Percy,”
“How are you doing? You ready for today?”
“I’m doing great thanks. Kind of excited.”
Green eyes twinkled, “Well that’s nice to hear, at least one of us is.”
Before he could ask what that meant Percy shoved a cup into his hand, “I got us coffee. Figured we’d need the energy if we’re going to be chaperones for a bunch of over-excited sea creatures.” He winked.
Jason laughed, “Are they a handful?”
“Nah,” Percy chuckled, “They’re just excited for this because we haven’t been able to go for two years.”
“Good morning Prof!” An energetic yell from a dark-skinned, bouncy-curled girl echoed behind them.
“Good morning Hazel,” Percy gave her a dazzling smile.
“Oh and good morning Dr Jason. Prof told us you’d be joining the trip.” He didn’t have the chance to return the greeting before she plunged on. “I hope you’re ready for today, Leo and Frank are bound to do something dumb and end up in a fish tank,” She rolled her eyes, “You know they always manage to break something when we’re in labs. Isn’t that right prof?” She turned to Percy who was smiling unrestrained.
“Yep, I swear those two are more chaotic than I was.”
Jason’s mind immediately conjured up a twenty-one-year-old Percy, tucked into a lab coat and goggles; a frown etched into his forehead and his tongue sticking out in concentration; black hair probably poking up in all directions, and skin bronzed from a combination of his Hispanic heritage and a well-spent summer. He had no doubt the biologist had been a sight for sore eyes even then.
“What’s got you all caught up Dr Grace?” A voice startled him out of his thoughts.
He shook his head, smiling, “Sorry, not fully awake.”
“This is the very reason they invented coffee.” Percy laughed, tipping his own cup in point.
“Hello everyone,” A girl with flowers in her hair and about a dozen pins tacked to her backpack greeted.
“Hello Katie, I like the daisies.”
“Thanks Doc, they’re the easiest to pin down and I figured today was not the day for something elaborate like hibiscus or chrysanthemums. Too many petals you know?” She mused.
Jason was fast realising why Percy was so close to his students. They interacted with each other so easily and with completely unique personalities.
“I’m sure you know Dr Jason Grace,”
“Hello,” He smiled.
“Oh I most certainly know Dr Grace,” Katie grinned, giving her professor a look.
He didn’t miss the blush creeping up Percy’s cheeks.
“Where is everyone?” She frowned, turning to Hazel with a smile and a hug.
Percy checked his watch, “I don’t kn-“
A chorus of hellos, and how are you’s filled the space as students poured in.
“Guys!” Hazel squealed and rushed towards the group.
Once everyone had gathered around and gotten through their various catch-ups, they turned their attention towards their Professor.
“Right I see you’re all here so lets quickly do introductions and then we can pile on the bus. Everyone this is Dr Jason Grace, he’s a neurologist and a professor in the medical department. He will be our first-aid and a chaperone to help me handle you chaotic bunch.”
They all said good morning, exchanging glances and hushed whispers.
A curly-haired blonde grinned, “Hello Doc, how do you feel about swimming with sharks?”
Jason’s eyes widened, turning to Percy.
With a sigh the biologist gave his student a look, “Will, stop trying to get people to go shark-tank diving with you. I told you Dr Grace only has to do what he’s comfortable with.”
“Yes Prof,” The freckles on his face bunched as he smiled cheekily.
“Now let’s get going. We have a guided tour at ten and my mother said only two things are important in life. Punctuality and pancakes.”
“Yea, yea we know,” They all grumbled.
One torturous bus ride later in which Jason was only a couple inches away from Percy they arrived at the Conservation Center.
“Alright everyone, we have a tour now and then it’s free time till one. After that everyone meets up in the main exhibit so we can Feed the Fish and then we’ll make our way to the shark-tank diving for anyone who wants to do it.”
Even though Jason had no idea what was being said half the time the tour was still incredible. The way sea life interacted with one another was fascinating and some of the creatures were mind-boggling, in  looks and in activity. The best thing about the tour though, was seeing Percy and his students light up, huge, curious eyes and rapt attention plastered to the various tanks. He knew it wasn’t a regular aquarium tour because the guide and Percy got into intricate details about the anatomies and functions of corals, fish, predators vs. prey and various other topics. The students were fully attentive asking and answering questions like they knew exactly what they needed to know and how they needed to know it.
When it finished at half-eleven the group were chattering incessantly, comparing notes and discussing all sorts of ideas.
Percy’s eyes were lit up with pride and passion as he thanked the guide and turned to his class, “Alright seaweed-brains go enjoy your time. Hazel, Leo and Katie please set alarms to be back here by one.”
“Yes Prof!” They shouted, already bounding away and into the exhibits once more.
“They will all stick together?” Jason asked, wondering why only three of them had to set alarms.
“Yea, they do everything together. I’ve caught them messing around in the library or all grabbing coffee at the café a number of times. I don’t know what it is about this group but they really like each other.”
“And you are very fond of them,” He observed, looking straight into those glowing green eyes.
“Yea, they’re complete chaos but they’re good people and they’re really passionate about my subject. It’s hard not to like them.”
“I’m sure with a professor like you it’s not hard to have passion about anything. I’m sure you’d make rocks interesting.”
“Actually,” Percy lit up, “Rocks are really interesting. There’s so many different types and they all have different functions. Also it’s fascinating to understand why some rocks look this way and others developed that way and-“ He cut himself off, blushing profusely, “Sorry you probably don’t care.”
“I think I care more now than I did before,” Jason grinned, willing to do anything to keep that brightness in those sea-green eyes.
Percy’s cheeks turned a deep shade of ruby, “I minored in geology because there was a lot of useful information regarding formation that helped with marine biology.”
“How’d you get into marine biology anyway?”
He shrugged, “I’ve always been fascinated with the ocean. It’s a whole ecosystem living by a completely different set of rules to land-systems. How did you get into neurology?”
“A lot of head injuries as a kid,” He smirked.
Percy burst out laughing, “What?”
“Yea, I fell on my head a lot as a child and I got a concussion a few times. It fascinated me that my brain could be impacted by it. I mean falling on your leg doesn’t generally stop you from walking, A scrape, maybe some blood and tears, and a band-aid is all we think of it. But falling on your head causes much more damage and it could affect your whole body.”
“That is... dedicated,” Percy gasped, still laughing.
“I was a weird child,” His mouth twitched in amusement.
“Any other strange anecdotes that decided your future?”
“Hours’ worth of them,” He grinned, “I can tell you about the time we lived near a wolf sanctuary and my mother thought it’d be a good idea to have me interact with them. I interned there for a little while so i’m pretty good at analysing wolf injuries and anatomy.”
“I-“ Green eyes blinked in surprise.
“Can I entertain you with my peculiar childhood over dinner? Tomorrow night?” He asked, voice scratchy with nerves.
The smile that graced Percy’s face could make flowers grow, “I would love that.”
“You would?” Jason could not believe what he was hearing.
“Very, very much. And I’m glad you had the guts to ask because I’m ninety percent sure my students were going to throw you in a shark tank and make me rescue you just to get us together.”
It was Jason’s turn to dissolve into laughter. He had never been so full of the future but gods it was invigorating.

Percy Jackson pulled into the designated pick up zone, his music blasting so hard his seats vibrated. His fingers tapped along to the beat against the steering wheel, head bobbing aimlessly. The time on the dashboard blinked 14:59 and as the song ended the clock struck the hour.
Little kids, dressed in all manor of outfits came pouring out of the school, throwing basketballs and strapping on bike helmets. He watched as a little boy in a lobster costume attempted to mount his bicycle, falling three times before he got frustrated enough to yank the costume down. Percy, and probably every parent in the vicinity, was grateful the little guy had a vest and shorts on underneath.
Another little boy looked on the verge of tears as he handed a broken pair of wings to his mom. She gave him a kiss and a chocolate and the kid beamed so hard the sun got a little jealous. He immediately turned to the little girl next to him and offered her some of his sugary contraband.
Damn Percy loved Halloween.
Speaking of which, where on earth was Estelle? She had been buzzing about the Halloween sleepover all week and now she was going to be late.
He checked the clock to find five minutes had gone by with no sign of his little sister. The front area was beginning to clear as little kids hopped on the school bus or into a parent's car. He gave it one more, impatient minute before getting out and stalking towards the schools entrance. His eyes wide and frantically searching through all the little bobbles and capes and various types of bugs. What was it with little kids and insects? Still there was no sign of a bright green tail or red hair clips.
Percy was starting to panic. He pushed the double doors of the school open, "Estelle? Estelle? Elle? Ellie? Elephant?"
His shouts echoed in the empty hallways but there was no response.
"Princess Ariel? Come on Elle this isn't funny." His voice shook with nerves as he peered into empty classrooms and around abandoned corners.
"Elle if you come out now I'll get you icecream on the way home." Bribing always worked.
"Come one Estelle, please," He could hear the panic in his voice now.
"Can I help you?" A voice from behind him asked.
He whipped around, stumbling as he caught sight of the stranger.
She was, wow. She looked like a princess from one of Estelle fairytales. Golden curls, and bright grey eyes. And a soft, expectant smile.
Expectant.... expactant. Shit. She was waiting for him.
He cleared his throat, "Uh yes hi I'm looking for my little sister. She didn't come out after school and I'm panicking just a little."
"Oh alright," She motioned for him to follow her before disappearing behind a door, "Can you tell me her name and who her teacher is?"
"Sure yea, her name is Estelle Blofis and her teacher is Miss Dare."
"Oh yes they had swim class for the last hour of the day. Come on I'll take you to the pool. Maybe she's still there."
"Thank you so much," He gave her a grateful look, "I'm Percy by the way, Percy Jackson."
"Annabeth Chase," Her tone was open but her answer was blunt.
Percy was confused and a little worried, and wow she was pretty.
"So you been working here long?"
She gave him a weird look and he realized it was probably a stupid question but before he could back track she was shrugging her shoulders.
"About two years."
"Must really love children huh?" He chuckled, "I think I'd go crazy if I had to look after a bunch of six year olds all day."
She looked at him then, grey eyes piercing into his.
"It started out as a backup plan while I waited to get into postgrad and kind of just became a thing."
"Well I'm sure you're great at it."
She laughed softly, pushing open the doors to the pool, "I'm great at everything Mr Jackson."
"Percy!" A small weight crashed into his legs.
"Hello Elle, where have you been?" He crouched down to look his little sister in the eye, "I've been worried sick about you."
"I'm sorry Pers," She gave him that puppydog stare, "We were having so much fun in the pool Miss Dare said we could stay in for a little extra. I didn't think you'd mind since you like to listen to your loud music." Her little button nose scrunched in distaste before she bounded away to change and grab her things.
Percy heard a soft snickering from behind him and stood up to see Annabeth covering her mouth, grey eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Someone's not a fan of your taste."
He scowled at her, "She doesn't count. Her favourite song is" Kiss the Girl" from Ariel."
"That's a great song," The blonde arched a perfect brow.
"Maybe when you're a kindergarten teacher," He teased, "I listen to real music like Led Zeppelin and Bon Jovi."
"Who said that's real music, Seaweed Brain?" She said pointing to his t-shirt that read Marine Biologists: seaweeds with brains.
"Haha," Percy rolled his eyes, "Well what do you consider good music?"
She opened her mouth to respond but Estelle beat her to it.
"Okay Percy I'm ready. Are we gonna get icecream on our way home?"
"What are you gonna give me in return?" They started waking back into the school.
"We can watch any movie you want tomorrow." She declared.
"Any movie?" He narrowed his eyes at her.
"Any movie. Oh except toy story. I don't like watching Andy give all his toys away. And that mean pink bear scares me."
"So we can watch Frozen?" He picked her up to look straight at her.
"Yes!" She giggled, "But you can't sing along to every word. I like Elsa and Anna's voice."
He pouted at her and glared at Annabeth who had been silent until this moment, when she had hurriedly tried to cover up her laugh with a cough.
"Why don't you run to the car, little one," He put Estelle down, "If you can get there in under thirty seconds I'll let you have two scoops of ice-cream."
The little girl didn't so much as blink before she was racing down the hall.
"So Frozen huh?" Annabeth smirked, "Guess that's also considered good music?"
"I'll have you know Elsa and Anna are queens and icons of this generation."
"Personally I think Nani and Lilo are better role models but whatever you say," She grinned at him.
"How about we settle this debate over coffee? Friday next week?"
"I hope you know I was captain of the debate team in college so you're definitely going down."
"All I'm hearing is that you accepted to go on a date with me," It was his turn to smirk.
She laughed as he wiggled his eyebrows. He knew he looked ridiculous but her laugh was buttery and warm and he'd do most anything to keep hearing it.
"It's a date Percy Jackson."
His smile was bright and unrestrained as they waved goodbye.
"See you then Annabeth Chase."

this is for the fanfic game: 1, 2, 3, 5, 28, 31, 43, and 47! i know that’s a ton so feel free to pick which ones to answer. for 28, my scenario is date night in and the ship is jercy:) if you’re not comfortable writing that though it’s 100% fine!!
Hello my favourite🌻💖thank you for this! And I hope you enjoy the drabble.
1. What fandoms do you write for?: Pretty much only the Percy Jackson Fandom. I've written one fanfiction for the Throne of Glass Fandom but that was a crack ship because I got obsessed enough. It's very daunting to write for fandoms. I only started writing for PJO like 2 years ago even though I've been in the Fandom since I was 10👀
2. What pairings do you write for?: Obvs you know my fave is jercy, but I write for percabeth, pibabeth, and my latest crack ship Leobeth, mostly.
3. What is your most popular fanfic?: I think it's the first chapter of His Blood Runs Gold (the Percy is a God AU) but I could be wrong?
5. What fanfic of yours should everyone have read?: Oh gods guys questions like these give me anxiety because I'm really shy about promoting my fanfics🥺I would love if more people read Empires on the Horizon or Kingdom Collisions since I work really hard on them. But I don't know, do what makes you happy man💖
28. I will name you three things (object — scenario — fandom/ship): write a paragraph or two!:
"Percy!" Jason Grace shouts from their living room, "If you don't get your cute butt in here I'm starting the movie without you.
There's a loud bang, a filthy amount of curse words and then his boyfriend is hopping into the room with a frown on his face.
"First of all I think it's so rude that you dare start my favourite movie without me. And secondly I banged my toe really hard and I think it might be broken."
Jason bursts out laughing, tears streaming down his face, sides aching. And Percy just stands there looking at him.
Finally the blonde stops, sobering at his serious expression.
"Come here," He sighs, hiding a smile.
His boyfriend flops down next to him and plonks his foot in Jason's lap. "See?"
The toe is blue and a little swollen but he can see its not broken, and he tells him as much.
"It hurts," Percy's ocean eyes are puppy-dog wide.
"If I get you chocolate and a bag of ice will you feel better?" He kisses that gorgeous brown forehead.
And finally, ice, chocolate, and buttery popcorn later they're settling down to their movie.
The opening scene of Anastasia starts playing and Percy bounces in the couch. The blonde tugs his boyfriend closer, falling a little more in love as he sees the excitiment radiating off him.
"You really like this movie don't you?"
"Shhhh Jase," He scolds, "The song is starting."
Jason just laughs softly, tangling his fingers in those black curls and settles into the world, happiness, home.
31. Do you use beta/sensitive readers?: I do not my love🌻
43. Guilty pleasure tropes and scenarios?: smut is my (not so) guilty pleasure.
I answered 47 here
