Genre:  Strangers to Lovers AU | Romance | Angst | Fluff | Smut
Summary: Once upon a time, there lived a girl who couldn't figure out her life and a boy who had the world at his feet. Neither had time for love, and both were absolutely miserable with their current predicaments. As the saying goes, expect the unexpected. Cliché? Most definitely. Does Lady Faith care? Not one bit. These types of stories have always been her cup of tea. At this point, all there is left to do is send a quick prayer that these two don’t get dragged to hell and back to satisfy an ancient deity’s hunger for drama. Alas, the odds don’t look promising. It’s been a while since Lady Faith personally took an interest in two young mortals' lives. The last time she was so meddlesome was with a certain singer and an athlete. What a disaster that was. Now, Faith looked at her two protagonists, and with a quick smirk, let history write itself.

Veeery weird to see people try to diminish Mbappé's achievements just because they have some kind of personal vendetta against him. This guy is France's fourth top scorer of all time at 24, pulled a hattrick in a wc final - whatever you want to say about the form of it, he did it and no one else did - , PSG's top scorer, and is consistently the measure against which any other player from his generation is compared to. He's the IT guy of his generation and the two players he arguably is put against on the regular - Haaland and most recently Bellingham - both play in clubs which have significantly more weight that PSG in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. Quite funny seeing some people no want to acknowledge that because of... reasons?

Part 2 of the PSG OG clownery 🤡
that i forgot to repost after it glitched
i've had people asking in the previous post what happened in the elevator back in 1998, well the former President of RC Lens himself recounted the story and said that the first reaction the back-then President of PSG had when the elevator stopped working was 'i don't know how, but i know it's your fault'.
in 1977, PSG reached Division I and splurged on Carlos Bianchi. For those who don't know, Bianchi was nearly blind as a bat, and confessed that the reason he didn't play any closer from the penalty box was because otherwise he just couldn't see the goal. He still went on to become PSG's top scorer for forty years, until Zlatan came along, then Cavani, then Kylian.
in 1997, the club was so desperate after a loss in the first leg against Bucarest in the UCL they paid a marabout to predict them the outcome of the second match. Literally. They needed to score at least 4 goals. The marabout predicted 5-0. PSG did win 5-0 but didn't make it out of the group stage.
in 2005, during an OM-PSG clasico, Marseille (allegedly) poured ammonia all over the Parisian locker room to prevent them from entering. The players had to change in the hallway and in various staircases. OM denied, saying their own locker room smelled even worse. PSG went on to claim that they lost because Marseille had also sent Clara Morgane, a notorious porn actress and Marseille-fan, to distract the players ahead of the game, when she specifically said she hadn't seen any of the players despite being in the stadium. Paris went on to seize the LFP. Imagine the headlines after that.
in 2012, in the weeks following Ibra's transfer to Paris, his wife got mugged Place Vendôme. PSG offered to replace her designer handbag, until they found out its cost went beyond €30 000. They promptly rescinded their offer. (Ibra was more pissed because inside was his hunting permit.)
in 2013, PSG players gathered at an A-list restaurant in town to watch a UCL match live. The place was new and constantly had powercuts, which messed up with the router. The owner was beside himself trying to make it work, until Ibra said 'I'll try'. He fixed it in the end, but the owner said the restaurant got real quiet for a while
that time in 2018 where Verratti nearly peed his pants trying to avoid Tuchel standing in the way of a Parisian restroom, just so he wouldn't be told off for staying out late
during his tenure, Pochettino (reportedly) told Kylian a few times to 'leave [him] alone' and 'please go to sleep', because Kylian kept texting him late-night gameplans and tactical plays until 2 or 3am
Dr. Rolland, the former club doctor, is the reason Verratti is still smoking. Take it up with him.

so what’s impressive about being 24 in a farmers league with 0 of either of those trophies genuinely
what’s impressive playing a pivotal role at 19 and winning the world cup? if you want to compare messi and mbappe, please, tell me why did it take so long for messi to win the world cup? and they say world cup is the hugest achievement of them all yet you forget that mbappe had that at NINETEEN years old. he also almost single handedly beat argentina last year in the world cup lol. not to mention even though as you said he plays in the farmers league, he’s always been consistent. yes, he has bad games (everyone does) but every season he’s been the instrumental player for psg, top scorer of ligue 1 because he is versatile and can play at any attacking position as well he can also create chances. do you have any reason to believe that if he played in a better club he wouldnt win trophies with that club? with those also comes individual trophies so... i dont think that talent would disappear anywhere if he switched clubs cause we can see how he plays in his national team against other strong countries
i’m not gonna bring in other achievements cause i know you’ll just come out and say ‘oH MesSi dID thAt whEN he wAS in tHe foRM of sPErm’
i just fucking hate comparing everyone to messi. every generation has their talents, every footballer is dependant on their team to win trophies and you cant deny that. it’s not 1v1 type of sport

Just Fontaine (1933-2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just Fontaine, a “monument of French football” who in 1958 scored a record 13 goals in a single edition of the World Cup, has died aged 89. The striker scored 30 goals in 21 internationals for France between 1953 and 1960, but he will always be remembered for the mark he set in Sweden, when he was instrumental in Les Bleus reaching the semi-finals.
In his club career, Fontaine’s strike rate was as impressive. He scored 259 goals from 283 matches and was one of the key players of the great Stade de Reims team who reached the European Cup final in 1959. Reims, who won three French top flight titles with Fontaine between 1958 and 1962, lost 2-0 to Real Madrid but he was the competition’s top scorer with 10 goals.
His death was announced by Paris Saint-Germain, who he managed between 1973 and 1976, leading them to promotion back to Ligue 1 in 1974. PSG described Fontaine as a “monument of French football”.
Born in Morocco in 1933, Fontaine started out at USM Casablanca before joining Nice in 1953. He moved on to Reims three years later.
Fontaine scored a hat-trick against Paraguay in France’s opening group game at the 1958 World Cup finals, two against Yugoslavia and one against Scotland. He also grabbed two in France’s 4-0 quarter-final win over Northern Ireland and drew them level in their semi-final against Brazil.
However, the eventual winners from South America – inspired by a 17-year-old Pelé who hit a second-half hat-trick – ran out 5-2 winners. Fontaine smashed four past West Germany in the third-place playoff match, which France won 6-3.
His 13 goals place him joint-fourth in the all-time men’s World Cup top-scorer charts, alongside Argentina’s Lionel Messi who needed five finals to reach that total.
The France coach, Didier Deschamps, said: “The death of Just Fontaine saddens me, as it will inevitably sadden all those who love football and our national team. ‘Justo’ is, and will remain, a legend of the team.
“‘Justo’ was a man of great kindness, very respectful of the generations who succeeded him with Les Bleus. His attachment to the France team was strong and sincere. I extend my thoughts to his family, his loved ones and all our great elders today in pain.”

Fixing United: FM24 vs Real Life
Once upon a time, playing as Manchester United on Football Manager would be seen as an easy save. The same went for Real, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea... it was just a load of cash, a load of rep, and a stroll in the park with any vaguely sensible tactics.
Tumblr media
These days though the likes of United, Chelsea, Ajax, Valencia are in disappointing form. Big name sides lower down the table than before. The upside though is that suddenly it's more of a legitimate challenge to take over one of these clubs on Football Manager and restore former glories.
Fixing United:
I'm currently in my second season at United, having won the League Cup twice and the Premier League and the FA Cup in my previous season. We also did alright in the Champions League, though lost to Barcelona and they ultimately lost to City in the final - can't stop the Blue Moon entirely eh.
The big changes to my side were RCB, RW, and RB. Todibo in from Nice replaced the outgoing Varane (Saudi league), whilst Diogo Dalot jumped before being pushed (to Arsenal) allowing me to bag United fan Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen - and for less money than I sold Dalot for. Bargain!
Tumblr media
United's right side is very feeble. The game treats Antony as a good winger and supplier, but reality is yet to prove that point. I kept the Brazilian for the season, and also played Sancho (who remains) but I've brought in much more talent.
Mohamed Daramy from Reims is in - the Dane linking up nicely with Højlund. Johan Bakayoko (PSV) and Roony Bardghji (FCK) are both in but back out on loan at their former clubs for one final season of development, giving me time to sell Amad, Pellistri, and maybe Sancho - should a PSG/Barca bid materialise.
Tumblr media
As you can see, I'm working on Højlund and Evan Ferguson (both ardent United fans) to be all-out complete forwards. Man of the Moment types. They have the skill set to be all United need, and so far so good.
Rashford plays left and only left. If he has a form drop, like real life, then Garnacho/Sancho/Daramy get his spot. Simple as that.
Bruno is currently the top scorer at the club with 28 goals and 13 assists. This is Ballon d'Or form.
Sancho quietly gets on with his football. Sports Interactive clearly don't know ball.
Mount as a roaming playmaker or a box-to-box midfielder is where I find him strongest. He did take time to establish himself though, so fans should give him this time in real life. There's a good, clever player there, and United need brains on the field.
Tumblr media
Tchouameni was a fluke signing, having already bagged Joao Gomes from Wolves to replace the despondent Casemiro and to allow a more tekkie Kobbie Mainoo to work his way in as a Herrera type of DM/ball winner. Still, we take it, he's class, and everyone gets rotated.
The back 5 is obvious, with Frimpong in for AWB more often than not but also more prone to injuries due to his athletic approach and the skillset drawing fouls.
Beyond this the academy is doing well. Dan Gore (on loan at West Brom) has had a season like Jimmy Garner did at Forest IRL, so he's possibly ready to squeeze into the first team squad - especially if I do sell a few people. Mount can then rotate more in CAM with Bruno, and that opens my LCM creative position for someone like a Gore.
The interesting thing for me has been realising that United does have issues, for sure. RW and RCB are the crucial two spots that if you fix, the team really clicks into place, but also it's the depth of talent and the specifics of deputies. In real life we have Lindelöf and Maguire; able EPL defenders but not the same playstyle as Martinez or Varane. Ten Hag can't achieve with these deputies. Variety between a Dalot/Frimpong offense and Wan Bissaka defence... sure, that makes sense, but the footballing culture shift of high line passing defenders versus bruisers who sit deep and battle constantly... it's not it.
For United to turn a new leaf and escape the Banter Era there has to be consistency in both recruitment and development. United's squad and academy need to be working to the same hymn sheet of what Ten Hag's first XI need and how to fit it. The right wing suits me as classic winger, but ETH will be happy having a winger, an inside forward, an inverted winger ala Antony - whoever. Options are a good thing when they can still adhere to the core principles or tenets of a manager's style. For me, I like having a Rashford/Garnacho swing in off the left to double up with the CF, and the LB/RW being wide support.
Maybe Erik wants this too, maybe not, but FM24 has me as Master and Commander in the Fergie role. Ten Hag isn't about that, nor should he be. Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to come in and establish this setup with reputable, reliable professionals who can be held accountable. With these people in place, then United can begin a 5-year project of overhauling the squad bit by bit. This is where you'll see young, suitable talent brought in at fair prices on fair wages to serve as backup to the starting 11.

No offense but why do people keep saying Neymar’s off the field lifestyle like it’s not something the press invented. If it was off that then psg fans should know Dembele’s lifestyle is worse than neymar at least he never came late to training. I hate that I even have to defend Neymar right but all these off the field BS is all made up by the British press! Jack grealish and other Players in the EPL have a wild lifestyle (I know this for a fact because I see them almost every weekend in Bagatelle, London) yet they are treated like media darlings because they are not South American or what. It’s like saying Lewis off the grid lifestyle is unprofessional. Please to be an elite athlete is NOT easy at all if Neymar wasn’t professional he wouldn’t have gotten this far…all time top scorer and top assist for Brazil national team is NOT a joke and I feel a lot of people are being unnecessarily disrespectful to him off projections no one even knows if it’s true or not and it’s so unfair. US athletes party a lot…even openly and are not criticized half of how Neymar is even with no evidence but off what a reporter says about him or what he posts with his friends.
I don’t know if this is aimed and me, but if it is:
1. I don’t read English tabloids (anymore). And when I did it was only the celeb things. No sports.
2. Lewis DID receive a lot of slack for his off track life style yeaaaars ago. Too busy with music, fashion, models, social media even. You name it and he heard, but the difference is he kept performing and at the highest level. So for me the comparison between these two is just not it. Even now in a team that’s way less he still gives it 110% to get them back to the top.
I think with Neymar is clear he is more free when it comes to his off field life. He enjoys his parties, poker tournaments and chilling with friends; the thing is his performance has not been on that Barca level in my eyes. He showed flares of it during matches, but not consistent like he did in his final 1.5 with barca. Besides: Ligue 1 ain’t no La Liga. With the Neymar I’ve seen and followed very closely at barca I expected way more than to end his club career at 31 with 1 CL.
He has accomplished a lot. Like you also said and I agreed: I just know it could have been much more and I think - and feel - very sad it ends like this for him.

Top women’s footballers in Europe
Women’s football became, since a few years now, more publicized, more important, and follow by more peoples. The last world cup in France in 2019, the last European championship in England the last summer, or the introduction of the women golden ball in 2018, are the examples who can show that there is a real evolution in the world of the women’s football.
With this ascension of the women’s football, and the “Ballon d’Or” won by Alexia Putellas last Monday, we can focus about the 5 best female footballers in Europe last year.

5- Wendy Renard ( Olympique Lyonnais )
Tumblr media
The French defender was a major artisan of the Lyon Champion’s League victory last year. For her 16th season with the club, she won her 8th Champions, and her 15th French championship, she included in the team of the year of these 2 competitions. Captain of the French selection, she also takes them to the semifinals of the European championship last summer, their first semifinals since the 2011 world cup, before losing against Deutschland.

4- Catarina Macario ( Olympique Lyonnais )

Another Lyon player, another winner of the Champions League, that she finished as the third top scorer of the competition, with 9 goals. Like her teammate Wendy Renard, she won everything with Lyon last year. 13 goals in the Championship, 2nd top scorer behind Marie Antoinette Katoto, the American midfielder included the team of the year of the championship. Unfortunately, she was touch at the knee at the end of the season, in June, and is working to come back at her better level, with the world cup in perspective with USA at the end of the season.

Tumblr media

3 – Sam Keer ( Chelsea FC )
Classified at the third place of the last Golden Ball last Monday, the Chelsea Australian striker won for another year the Women’s Super League, by finishing as top scorer for the second year in a row, with 21 goals in 20 games. She’s by the way the highest paid player since 2019, and her signature for Chelsea. We’re now going to see if she can do better, collectively by winning the champions League, or individually by winning the Ballon d’or.

2 – Marie Antoinette Katoto ( Paris Saint Germain )

The young PSG striker ( only 23 years old ), did again an incredible season with Paris Saint Germain. Only classified 17th at the last ballon d’or, she helped PSG to reach the semifinals of the last Champions League, by scoring 7 goals. She also finished the French championship with 21 goals. Like her compatriot Wendy Renard, she has reached the semifinals of the European championship, but suffered of a knee injury during the competition.

Tumblr media

1 - Alexia Putellas ( Barcelona FC )
Who else to conclude this ranking that the winner, for the second year in a row, of the Ballon d’Or, Alexia Putellas. The offensive Spanish midfielder lost the Champions League final with Barcelona, but finished top scorer of the competition, with 11 goals. She won an historical Spain championship ( 30 wins in 30 games ) , by finishing 3rd best top scorer with 18 goals, and best assister with 15 assists. She obviously included the championship and champions league team of the years. She didn’t play the European championship with Spain, due of a knee injury, just before the beginning of the championship, but won anyway the Ballon d’Or, thanks to an incredible season.
