started a new viddygame the other day
#katamari#me & my katamari#been wanting to play more katamari for a while but i've already played the hell out of the only 2 katamari games available on steam#(the 2 'rerolls')#i figured i could probably play some of the other games via emulation. finally looked into it & got my new 'psp' set up :-)#at first the controls sucked but then i added my dualshock4's analog sticks as alternate inputs for the directional and face buttons#and it just works! feels almost the same as playing katamari damacy or we love katamari#not perfect; still a tiny bit rough; but waaayyyy better than just using the dpad and face buttons#condolences to ppl who played this on an actual psp#it's unfortunate that the psp didn't have dual analog sticks. the playstation dual analog controller design is so good#wouldve been nice if that couldve been carried over to their portable console

After (FINALLY) playing p3 reload, I have come to the consensus that it doesn’t hit nearly as hard as the original does.
It’s feels too modern. It doesn’t have the same eerie vibe that most early PlayStation game engines have that elevated the original so much. It doesn’t help the fact that the graphics are updated but all the animations are basically still the same stiff and boring movements.
The game feels like one of those “Nintendo hire this man” betas but extended into a full length game.
Overall, it’s an unnecessary remake that no one really asked for that only exists so that atlus can market persona 3 to newer fans who haven’t played the original.

look im not saying this in support of nintendo's insane greed when it comes to piracy and re-issuing games, but for people to say that theyre doing it for no purpose but cruelty is ridiculous. theyre doing it for money. how the fuck else would they ensure, in a marketplace where any $60+ AAA game is marked down to $20 less than a year after release, that their games maintain their MSRP literal decades later?

Ahh I love disgaea...
d2 was the last good one
#In a bad mood but booting up a little psp emulator and starting disgaea 2 again cheered me up#maybe I should play 5 some time to reappraise it#but definitely after 5 they're trash#in case anyone isn't aware disgaea 2 and disgaea d2 are not the same game#the former is the second game released and isn't a direct sequel to disgaea 1#while the latter is the fifth game released in the series (not counting the hd/improved versions of 3 and 4) and is a sequel to disgaea 1

i wonder if nintendo actually have a business plan for the switch 2 or if they're really just flying by the seat of their pants with "save up a few years of switch releases and hope it's enough to push a tantalizing enough first year lineup for a hardware refresh"
#i swear steam deck sent them into crisis mode and forced the system back 2 years just not to be obsolete on arrival#pray for a dual screen but every instinct says we're finally arriving at the Nintendo Iris with no Yamauchi left to stop it#iris - the terminus of innovation#the only hope is valve pressures them back into competing with interface innovation over raw power#but do they have engineers left who can do it? surely they have the labo guys around still#if they arent careful psp 3 (vita 2🤍) will eat them up even faster than the deck#i feel like an iris switch can only end in xbox-like malaise unless they go wild on peripherals to salvage it#switch is already there and has been there for years. we had like dread and then everything else has been sold on visual novelty#ever since deck rendered the platform fundamentally obsolete theyve been coasting on the default purchase mindset of their consumer base#and illusions of exclusivity in the face of cheap and superior same-gen emulation#innovation is the cure#but min-risk min-cost will say just patch up the walled garden by brute forcing emulation difficulty and rely on exclusivity sony style#ironically unemulatable interface formfactor is even cheaper than raw power & has the bonus of novelty and attracting prospective pioneers#[i wrote this like 2 weeks ago - reminded to let it out of drafts now]

kind of want to check out the sonic rivals games since ive never really touched them and the few little bits of out of context dialogue ive seen from them are really funny but idk if i should actually try emulating it or if i should just watch a video of it
#i dont have a psp is a big problem here#torn because my laptop is garbage and i would probably be fighting for my life trying to emulate it#(though maybe im exaggerating its only a psp game it would probably be fine)#and also playing console games on a laptop just doesnt hit the same for me#which makes me lean towards just watching it but alsoo . i prefer actually playing sonic games over just watching them .....#i only choose watching over playing if the game is just completely inaccessible to me ...#maybe im worried over nothing maybe the gameplay of sonic rivals is nothing special and i can just watch it and be fine .

one of things i hope for wilds is unlocking new cooking ingredients that change up how cooking cutscene looks because in my first mh game (freedom unite) your food looked different depending on amount of chef felynes you had and unfortunately i dont have screenshots of how it changes according to amount but 5 chef dinner absolutely fucks and i need to cook incredible shit in wilds
