I wanted her to be emotionless in all the pictures though I tend to do that anyway. While I was clearing out a scav hideout I was like "oh god not the red chair!" but there were no good sitting poses, I don't use mods or any fancy photomode addons, just pure vanilla game for all, hairs, clothes, settings, poses, etc. I realise Olive looks a bit more like Ophelia with the "merc" outfit I gave her and I realise her hair was slightly blonde as opposed to white like I thought but I like it, I like to imagine she is younger and resembles ophelia a little more despite being her aunt. The sinner/lethal tattoo definitely suits her 💀I wish I could have found some sort of graveyard in the desert but alas there is just sand. I thought the Voodoo Boys chapel seemed a bit like the psp meetinghouse/ 13 Dead End Lane house vibes. Of course Olive as a merc doesn't even think twice about killing no matter who is her target and I think the job suits her despite her motivations always being mysterious and hidden. I like to imagine she is still looking for Grim in this world. I'm not sure who I want to do next, I can't do Brandi because my V is loaded already, can't do any male characters (don't think you can change the gender but I don't want to for this playthrough anyway), and can't do any aliens unless I use a mod for green skin or photoshop it. I was thinking maybe Cassandra or Lilith, or a corpo Mary Sue.

Handheld LCD Shader Projects
Welcome to the introduction of a collection of the handheld LCD shaders that emulates the colorspace and LCD metrics from the offical handheld gaming consoles. Ranging from Gameboy Color to the PSP being the main focus for emulating the displays from their colorspace to specified gamma and color temperatures. Most users would be playing Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance in raw RGB on emulators as well as on the Gameboy Player, and that's totally cool. Playing these games on the backlit displays have been much easier to see the game you're playing than ones without any light on the LCDs. Heck, even having much better contrast that gives off darker blacks, or even perfect blacks from OLEDs. However, once you start playing some of those games, you can really see something off from those games from your childhood handheld consoles, most prominent, the Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance. Those screens are really different from modern displays we use on a daily basis, on every single specifications. GBC and GBA would look too saturated and odd color hues in a lot of games, under raw RGB picture. In GBA's case, a lot of games can have lighter gamma that looks overbrightened in raw RGB, since those were only calibrated for the old GBA screens that has darker gamma. Oversaturation from those games were also calibrated for these older displays that has less saturation. This project is meant to replicate the colors and gamma from the real console model, to any project, such as emulators, Gameboy Interface, scalers like the Retrotink 4K, LCD mods, and HDMI/FPGAs projects. It would allow users to pick any shaders or LUT textures to replicate the LCD color display to your preferred way to play games beyond pure original hardware. Of course, there is also Nintendo DS from the first model, the DS Lite, Gameboy SP AGS-101 (Backlit version), Gameboy Micro, and the PSP on its first model, as of current. The project is also meant to preserve the display data and metrics from those handhelds.

Downloads:
Instructions: If you haven't already installed shaders, do so inside retroarch under slang shaders. After downloading my package, extract the zip file to "shaders_slang" inside Retroarch's shader folder. It can be implemented inside libretro's shader once the slang shader pack gets updated. I suggest loading the shaders by presets, under .slangp, in both Handheld and Reshade folder (latter being under the handheld-color-LUTs folder). Presets inside handheld folder has switchable settings, including presets containing LCD shaders. Presets inside reshade only loads in LUT textures rather than just shaders. Useful for emulators or projects that only loads in LUT textures as their only filter.
The shaders is based on HunterK's shader, Color-Mangler from the misc folder in slang shaders from Libretro, which was made from a help for my project. It defaults to sRGB on the shader's option for many average users. A shader preset from Handheld folder has LUT choices to change the greyscale color temperature replicated from the real handheld console. GBA one can adjust the gamma to make the image darker, while GBC and GBM has gamma option to brighten or darken. In Reshade, it only had adjustable greyscale temperature except for GBA_GBC variant. The shader supports DCI-P3 and Rec2020 colorspaces on its option to use on your display that may support either of those to reach better color saturation to present more accurate blue primary color from my shaders that common sRGB colorspace is limited from. The GBA and GBC have external gamma options to adjust the gamma on the greyscales if not using any LUT shader preloaded.
Developer notice: For developers of any GB/GBA (or any handheld) projects involving emulators, FPGAs, or screen mods, shall take some advices when it comes to implementing the shader or color filter to your projects. To implement as a shader, the gamma has to be lower first by 1/2.2 (Can be used to change the GBA gamma itself to darken the screen), then use my color values from the shader to change the color primaries, and then revert the gamma by 2.2 afterwards to have great color correction while respecting luminance and color tones. Also I prefer if you take color values from white balance correction that are outside of GBC/GBA shader. For only LUT texture, a more easy approach for devs, I prefer using the non-cold variants if preserving the greyscale color tone. GBA and GBC LUTs have their gamma and greyscale adjusted to emulate the screen's default gamma. If you only want just the color gamut correction as an LUT, use the GBA_GBC variant inside Reshade's LUT folder. -If you decide to implement a basic GBC or GBA colorspace to the emulator, use the sRGB data. The gamma change must happen before the color correction. -If the project is aimed for TV such as Gameboy Interface or GBA Consolizer, use the sRGB LUT shader, since SD and HDTV resolutions aim for sRGB colorspace. -If the FPGA such as Analogue Pocket, IPS screen mods, or emulation device uses a display gearing towards sRGB colorspace, use the shader, color filter, or LUT accordingly. -If the OLED screen mods or emulation devices have its native colorspace target around 100% DCI-P3 Volume, use any filter accordingly. -If implementing the shader to your emulation project, do port the shader to your shader or filter libraries. The shader and LUTs are in public domain after all, to spread about the color correction regarding GBC/GBA displays. -If using a professional scaler like Retrotink 4K with either GBA Consolizer or Gameboy Interface without any filters used, play with its gamut matrix settings for both GBC and GBA as "Red: 0.4925 0.3100" "Green: 0.3150 0.4825" "Blue 0.1625 0.1925" to emulate the color correction, and can be used on SDR or HDR mode to give out consistent image. Gamut info for other consoles below.

(Bottom: GBA; Raw RGB, GBA-SP AGS-101, and GBA with darken set to 0)
Note: While DS-Lite and SP-101 are really close to sRGB that developers don't really need adjustments, it is shown to preserve on how far they reached from older models to newer ones in mid to late 2000s.
Story:
So when did I start the project and why I was invested in doing this? It was back in August 2014 when I first saw a forum on someone wanting to desaturate the GBA and mentioned the filters from emulators like VisualBoyAdvance, or VBA-M, as well as NO$GBA that has options to emulate the colorspace that is close to the real hardware. I was reminded how the latter emulator has those options when I used it long time ago. I mostly use unfiltered colors as that was how close it looks on my GBA-SP with "Better Screen" than the GBA. Yeah I actually have the backlit version of GBA-SP known as AGS-101. The display was a huge jump from old GBA to GBA-SP, as well as the Nintendo DS Phat under GBA. However, I had good amount of memories of playing my old GBA with the lights around me and I do remember the color saturation being very different overall. So I wanted to take a look on how to replicate the VBA-M's colorspace.
(Link to the forum I created of my histories of re-creating the GBA colors)
I first decide to use simple desaturation with a mix of shaders by playing with saturation and contrast levels. At first, it looks very similar to how VBA-M's attempt looked. That is, until I saw the blue color has a different hue, being more torqourise in VBA-M's recreation. Then a LUT shader appeared in libretro forums and I first used that for my photoshop to use crazy amount of filters to recreate the whole thing, even though it wasn't perfect, but close. Then I tried to replicate the original NDS model that I have for many years, and also played with the LUT textures from Photoshop. Yeah I just simply tried to copy the colors from the console, without any tools, on my uncalibrated old LCD TN panel screen, because I had such no experience on how colorspaces work, but it was worth a try. Then in 2015, I somehow found a shader that plays with RGB and I got help with Hunterk, a contributor on Libretro who has been involved with a lot of shaders for Retroarch. He made an amazing color mangler shader for me to put data of colors and gamma on the shader itself than just using a LUT texture. Then in May of 2015, I found another GBA on my house that was not used by a family for a long time. Yeah I lost my GBA somehow as a kid from another family, but a long story to tell. Thankfully I was allowed to use another GBA for full use just for this project. This was just the beginning of my progress on grabbing screen data starting with just a flashlight with my old LCD monitor. The only issue I always have is the common sRGB screens don't have deep blue colors that is needed for both GBA and NDS (and more), so I always had issues replicating the blue primary color. That's what got me to start learning about colorspace and what sRGB and color gamut means. And that's where my progress to get the right tools begins. I then later got a superior IPS 1080p monitor, the GBC, Colormunki Display, using DisplayCal and HCFR, Colormunki Photo, the PSP, GBA Micro, a 4K monitor, and a portable light to use on GBC and GBA. Now in 2024, I have really progressed with help of such tools I need, have become much better way of getting the LCD data from the handhelds to contain the color gamut, the greyscale, gamma, and color temperature.
So now the story is out of the way, here are the tools I used to gather infos from the handheld screens.
Samsung S80AU - A 4K IPS Monitor that supports DCI-P3 colorspace with great Delta Error scores especially for sRGB colorspace. It's also used to test out LCD shaders on a high DPI display. Colormunki Display - A Colorimeter that calibrates your display and gathers color data from your target screen. Colormunki Photo - A Spechrometer that behaves the same as Display, except gathers the white colors temperatures more accurately regardless on any type of LCD or OLED displays. It's used to make profiles for the Display to be calibrated for a specific monitors as the Display reads data much faster than Photo as well as reading darker blacks better. Displaycal has infos on colormeter matrix correction to add in why this combo is best used for serious color calibration. It's also used primarily for handheld console displays to sample color data. DisplayCal - Used to completely calibrate my monitor and other screens to give off pure sRGB colorspace with 6500K whitepoint. It's also used with its own ICC Profile creator to make .icc with given data from ColorHCFR for a specific Handheld Console display to emulate from. It's 3DLUT tool was also used to generate LUT textures to check the color and luminance on primary and secondary colors. ColorHCFR - A free alternative for Calman. It's used to gather data on the greyscale, the color gamut, and tons more info to check how your targeted display looks. It shows you graphical images of the screen's color gamut on the CIE diagram. MCH2 - A tool that used your generated DisplayCal monitor calibration data to create an .icc profile made for Windows 11 to convert the entire screen to your targeted colorspace such as sRGB and DCI-P3. G2 Pocket RGB Camera Light - A portable light that shoots out lights to use on handhelds that lacks any light, such as the Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance. It toggles between RGB and pure whitelights with color temperature adjustments. It's used to match the whitepoint on both GBC and GBA to match my monitor's whitepoint as the closest. It's much better tool than me previously using my collection of phones to use the flashlight for color sampling, as GBC and GBA suffers from rainbowing, no adjustments on white balance, and less saturation by a flashlight, unlike proper lights like the G2 Pocket that eliminates those issues. 240p Test Mini - The handheld version of the well known 240p Test Suite. Used to check RGB, greyscale, motion flickering, and color scrolling on real hardware. https://github.com/pinobatch/240p-test-mini EZ Flash Jr - A GB/GBC Flashcarts to load ROMs and Homebrew for GBC and GBA. EZ Flash 3-in-1 Expansion Pack NDS - A GBA Cartridge to load in a ROM and homebrew in to load inside GBA and NDS. Used NDS to insert a ROM on its NOR memory. GIMP - A Photoshop-like image editor that is used to check generated LUTs from 3DLUT to check on the color values to adjust the shader. Retroarch - Using mGBA and Sameboy emulator core to check out the games while using the shaders I created for color correction. It also loads in image files for my best way to check out my shaders during adjustments.

(Top to Bottom: gba-color & gbc-color, gbMicro-color, nds-color, psp-color, DSLite-color, SP101-color, and raw RGB, all in sRGB)
Note: Why the white color is darker is due to clipping on the yellow color because of how color correction works with the blue color being out of sRGB gamut. Also, sRGB can't display those handhelds blue saturation due to it. Will soon post DCI-P3 and Rec2020 variants for displays that can see more saturation without internal color adjustments.
List of handheld consoles I owned to create shaders out of: Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Gameboy Advance SP (AGS-101) Gameboy Micro Nintendo DS Nintendo DS Lite PSP (1000)
Nintendo Switch Online emulates GBC and GBA with their own color filters. GBA only desaturates the screen in more simple manner for sRGB, which was easy to implement. GBC, was very hard to do in shaders currently, so to use full experience, the LUT version can only be used to fully emulate the effect for other emulators.
I also found someone's Switch OLED data from a youtube video. The colorspace is taken with bigger saturation than even DCI-P3 when using vivid mode. Here's a link to the video by GamingTech:
youtube
I also made Palm Treo 700p shader long time ago by taking DisplayMate's data long ago while trying to translate the gamut pin points to HCFR since I don't have those in possession. I only made it for experiment long ago and only archived.
Replicating existing filters from emulators or dev tools such as No&GBA and VBA-M for GBA image replication, and GBC tools like Gameboy HiColour Converter V1.2 for GBC image replications. Even No$GBA and No$GMB docs had mentioned the LCD color differences:
(HiColour Convertor)
My Handheld LCD review datasheet and showcase for each platform (Coming Soon):
Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Gameboy Advance SP AGS-101 Gameboy Micro Nintendo DS (Phat) Nintendo DS Lite PSP-1000
Handheld consoles I plan on getting and make data out of: PSP-3000 or GO PS Vita Nintendo 3DS (Owned, but not yet examined)
Handhelds I don't plan on getting or reviewing: Gameboy or Gameboy Pocket (Many have made their own shaders and filters out of their monochromic display) Gameboy Advance SP AGS-001 (Uses the same exact display as the original GBA except with frontlight added) Knockoff GB Boy Colour (I only allow any official handheld consoles for my project) PSP-2000 (Same colorspace and data as PSP-1000, except brighter screen) PS-Vita 2000 (Uses LCD instead of OLED, with less color gamut than original PS Vita) Nintendo NEW 2DS XL/3DS (or XL) IPS displays (Hard to find and a lottery to obtain; not common) Nintendo Switch (Owned and targets sRGB and its gamma well; whitepoint can vary between units)
Notes: On GBA, A lot of games are calibrated for the GBA's gamma due to how dark its screen's gamma looks. For some games, often Nintendo and a couple of companies with closest relationship to Nintendo, are adjusted for its colorspace. Certain games, often SNES ports, may have its original palettes on its setting. On GBC, many games were made for the screen during its run. It's unknown which amount of games weren't calibrated for the screen. Although certain games like Link's Adventure DX were completely adjusted for the screen on colorspace, gamma, and color temperature, which made purple-grey colors looks more grey overall. On both NDS and PSP, pretty often the first few years of games can be adjusted for those screens. Those are until both NDS-Lite and PSP-3000 have colorspace that closely aims for sRGB where no adjustments can be made. Many multi-ports for PSP of the same game from home consoles are very likely not calibrated for the first two PSP models. I didn't make a Switch OLED preset (from Vivid mode) with LCD shader, since the Switch OLED is not LCD, its RGB pattern is very different, and either original LCD or OLED are too high resolution to notice its RGB patterns. It's best to use only the shader to use with Reshade on a Switch emulator to emulate the OLED's vivid mode, but preserved in Libretro to see its effect. While I explain what the shaders are meant to use for, it's also your preference on using the shaders or just using the Raw RGB colors that fits your needs. You can use other color shaders on a GBA or GBC emulator, such as using NDS, Micro, or PSP shaders to your preference. The PSP shaders have much more saturation than any Gameboy line or NDS Phat, while preserving its hue.
To end off on this page, I would also like to give respect to other projects that tried their attempt to create their own color correction. While I prefer the best accuracy of the color correction from my shaders, many of their color corrections are pretty impressive with varying degree levels of accuracy, and they all motivate me to continue with the project to give out the best quality of color correction. Their blogs have pretty interesting ideas on how displays work on GBC and GBA.

So firstly, you’ll need to have the original Final Fantasy VII installed on Steam lol Next thing you’ll need to do is download the “7th Heaven Mod Manager” in order to run these and any mods. You can find it here 7th Heaven - The Ultimate Mod Manager for Final Fantasy 7 PC
Once you install it, run the program and play the game through the manager before doing anything else. When you do this, it will ask you if you want to create a separate copy of your Final Fantasy VII for running your mods, click yes on this. This new copy can be found in this Games folder in your C drive.
Tumblr media
You need to run the game once with 7th Heaven manager so it can configure some stuff, and then you’re able change different settings in Game Driver tab, like the resolution, anti-aliasing etc. You’ll also want to turn on Steam Combability under the Advanced tab in Game Driver settings so you can unlock achievements and log play time (Steam will need to be running for this work).
Tumblr media
Now you’re going to need to download all the mods I’m using from the following links.
ModdersHaven Offical Release at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mod contains two packs that update all of the character models to look on par with Crisis Core PSP and it also includes a texture pack that updates all of the battle environments. These three require the 60FPS mod in order to work, which can be found in the 7th Heaven manager browser (usually always at the top, like in the picture below). The 60FPS mod must be placed UNDER the character mods in priority on your mod list, other the characters don’t render properly which is kinda funny lol (Barret's gun is just floating and Tifa's fists don't connect to her arms).
Tumblr media
OGFIELDS - COMPLETE FIELD REPLACEMENT at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mods add brand new AI upscaled replacements for all of the pre-rendered backgrounds.
ESUI at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mod allows you to clean up the text in the menus and dialogue boxes, as well as adding transparency effects on dialogue boxes>
ReMusic - REMAKE Music Replacement at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mod replaces the original midi music with all of the new music from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
Cosmos FMV - Cutscene character model replacement at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mod adds updated versions of the FMV movies, I use the 30FPS version. The mod comes with two options, these detailed chibi models or more realistic proportioned characters, which is the one I use.
(Tsunamods) Cosmo Memory at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) This mod adds a bunch of new sound effects, like footsteps, background ambience and battle grunts, as well the option to replace old UI/menu sounds with ones from Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade.
Tsunamods Team mod collection at Final Fantasy 7 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) I only use one of the mods listed here and that’s the Pheonix Tale avatars, that updates all the avatars to the ones from Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade, with 3 different styles.
Tumblr media
Next you will then want to extract and copy all of the mods into the 7th Heaven folder, under Mods in the new FF7 folder 7th Heaven Manager made. Refresh your Mod List in the manager to make them all appear (the refresh button is one far right of the manager). Then re-order the List Priority like how I’ve got it (at least for the top 3).
Tumblr media
And that should be it! Have fun!

how can i begin to explain to you all that whenever i listen to i'm not okay (i promise) i picture one of the characters from the 2005 psp game death jr jumping out of the window at the "jumping out the second floor" part bc of a super obscure very short lived mtv show where they would manipulate the models and scenery from current video games in a sort of proto garrys mod method to make music videos for popular songs

So my steam deck arrived! I have spent most of yesterday setting it up. I had never used Linux before, so i had to learn how and where to bring there all my steam saves and mods and also... How to install some non steam games!
So i these pictures there are three steam titles that I've wanted to play in the comfort of my bed for the longest time (terraria and stardew are also on switch but i can't bring my save files over there) and the rest are some mon collecting game roms of franchises that are as close to me as Pokémon is.
Digimon and Monster Rancher titles are also on switch (and i plan to check ultra kaiju and digimon survive soon) but i heard monster rancher advance 2 was easy and charming, and as for the PSP digimon adventure game, it never came to the west, what a shame! And Medarot is also pretty much no longer available in the west ..

A, F, I, L , P, V and Y (lmao so many but i'm curious)
TYSMMMMM
A: Favorite CC creator
Honestly its so hard to say bc i love so many 😭 naturally im a fan of creators that create or used to create something essential and super cool like platasp, jacky93sims, moni lisa sims, skittlessims, leto mills, linacheries, pooklet and azaya, mrs mquve, riekus13, rockethorse, applewatersugar, pforest, kestrelteens, vidcunds, sammy sundog, and probably a whole bunch of other creators that i forgot... if i had to pick someone i have a special love for it would be leaf-storm because im such a huge fan of their cc 😭 and naturally i got to mention you and dirk as my beloveds that im always so excited to see new stuff from 🙏🙏
F: Gameplay with or without cheats
Well im a legacy challenge kid, thats where i came from and thats i will forever be, and those require you to abstain from cheats so i got used to making money myself and its super fun, as a kid i would always abuse rosebud and motherlode and honestly when it comes to the first one its probably justified bc playing ts1 with cheap furniture is hell 😃 but with the other games its not the same! i gotta say i started building more recently so the basic building cheats are as necessary as ever but also i think i love testingcheats so much im just gonna have this mod tattooed on me literally bc its so scary and gives you too much power but the fun of it cant be described. i used to abuse it as a kid as well
I: Your Bella Goth theories
Honestly im a bit tired of all the bella business but i accept any theories, i havent decided on one myself but i lean towards thinking bella is in strangetown but is strangetown bella The bella? idk. i also dont like that bella from psp said she married for money and i dont believe her bc her and mortimer are the only true love in the universe it feels sometimes
L: Have your sims ever cheated?
As a kid i made Chester Gieke successful and he was my favorite sim, i also grew up with a lot of christian guilt but it looks like i played chester before that happened bc once i opened his save after a few years i was completely shocked betrayed and upset when i saw that he fucked four women two of which were his robots? i love that i had fun with it as a 8 or 9 yo bc later in life i cared for sims too much to make them cheat 😭 i do wanna play as a romance sim sometime bc i never truly experienced that but i still feel bad when my sims are sad so we'll see
P: Pose or play your sims?
I may not be super good at it but i loovvee posing sims with animations, everything else mostly just looks too basic to me bc once youve seen a pose a few times youre gonna recognize it everywhere and its not as fun anymore. but i still like them regardless! i just think im mostly better off using parts posers, animations or just literal gameplay so that people wont be annoyed with my pictures (honestly tho who cares. its my game) but in general gameplay is my favorite, even though ive always been a big fan of screenshotting, esp in ts3
V: How did you start playing the sims?
When i was about 5 yo we moved into a new place and we got a computer and my sister heard from her classmates about the sims, of course we had to go to our insanely-popular-at-the-time book market that had many many ill*gal game cds lol it was really hard to get a real copy back home bc ts2 wasnt localized in my language and ts1 wasnt even published in any nearby countries at all i think so people had to localize it themselves. we found a stand that had every ts1 expansion on display and we couldnt pick between makin magic and superstar i think. but superstar had xtina on the cover so of course we picked it, turned out it was superstar and literally everything that came before it (that is everything ts1 had except making magic). so that was my first sims game and i kind of dedicated my life to my love for it ever since. i dont remember how we started playing ts2 but i remember my first time playing it
Y: Favorite career
Paranormal probably 😭 bc i loved resurrecting sims. and idk maybe culinary and science? i love ghost hunters in ts3 🙏

My hot take on PSO2 and it’s localization taking nearly as long as Cyberpunk’s development
After almost a decade thinking about it.
And I’d like to immidately start with I’m sorry for being mad at this game and Sega for nearly 10 years. If I could help it, I would. I’ve tried. Sega does not want me to enjoy this game. They wiped my level 79 character when I finally enjoyed the game in my own region. And I need to point some things out for the sake of my mental health I think. This is all 10 years of stewing and connecting dots;
Since I'm constantly bitching about the Duman thing: When the servers first came out in 2012 Duman wasn't an available race.
I stopped playing early PSO2 rather quickly because outsiders were unwelcome. They banned IP addresses, even the people who went so far out of their way to give them money. I didn't get banned or give them money but unlike everyone else, I didn't wanna be someplace I was unwelcome.
Don’t tell me Sega didn’t want to release PSO2 to the West because of money, the money statement in the above paragraph holds this point.
Don’t tell me it was to handle the overpopulation, they had money to add more servers, and could have released the Western one and avoided the overpopulation entirely.
Don’t tell me it was because of hackers, selective release looks more like elitism after 4-6-8 years. They’re just gonna give the middle finger to everywhere else except Japan and Hong Kong?
Anyway when they DID add the “ENGLISH” server I hopped on what my ignorant American ass thought was, like, the international English sea region servers in 2014. There were Dumans. (Didn't play there long either, long story short found out the hard way Australia isn't part of the sea region and that pissed me off 🔨) So long story short: After Sega announced there was going to be a western release a few months after the first release, that never came, got swept under the rug, no updates on it until the sea region servers magically popped up and at this point Dumans have been added (though it was sometime before the release of the Sea servers but I wasn’t playing on the Japanese servers when Dumans were introduced so)
Now.. Portable 2 Infinity was never released outside of Japan, the only game with Dumans as a race. In a separate universe than the original Online. (Online 1 and Zero one universe) (Universe and Portable seperate universe)
The big picture: If Sega added Dumans after they decided to scrap a western server, not to be conceited again but it looks to me like they were aware outsiders would look at Dumans with a side-eye. And I have seen questions/threads online, “what are Dumans?” Kinda cracks me up that everyone just lets this slide. I’m not even talking about beasts in this post, its not the point this time as much as I think it is a huge point..
Granted, yeah, in 2021 PSP2I is pretty easily accessible, as well as the English patch. The English patch wasn't easy 10 years ago, actually I think it was still being made or had issues still, but I'm lucky my boyfriend at the time was able to not only mod it onto my PSP but explain to me Dumans are a race that's infected by the Seed.
You know, Seed first appearing in Phantasy Star Universe.
And I have an easy time believing Dumans became popular because of how much official PSP2I art and merchandise there is. I wasn't in Japan during its life, but after spending many years of my life looking at Phantasy Star images, it's pretty obvious Infinity was a popular game and people really like Nagisa. (Female Sauske. Yall Sauske Uchiha fan boys and girls 😒) ((I'm not even going to bitch for furries this time and how I as not a furry would like to play as a big tiddied beast bitch because this isn't suppose to be about that))
I understand they worked Dumans into the Online Sequel to have their place, but, how does it tie in with... Online 1? Since its called...Online 2...some story...should tie together....since that’s how sequels work... Its not called, NEW Phantasy Star Online? Sega should have hooked back up with Nintendo, the company that designed their entire console to accommodate PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 1 Quite literally that story bit on how they got there was added just so they can use it to hide the fact it was to further appeal to their local fanbase.
Infinity is also the only other Phantasy Star game to heavily reference Phantasy Star Online. Rico and Flowen are characters in Infinity’s story. But I’m not going into how, that’s a spoiler ;) that I couldn’t read
But fast forward to May of 2020, right as pandemic slams and either right before or a few days after lockdown in my area, since
🎊MICROSOFT🎊
🎊✨️BOUGHT✨️🎊
🎉🎊🎉SEGA🎉🎊🎉
guess what we get? 8 years after PSO2s release. Nearly 20 years after PSO is prevelant. Nearly 15 years after Universe. About 11 years after Portable 2. Portable 2 Infinity was released 2 years after portable 2 and a year before PSO2. 2011. Nova came out in 2014. Japan only. Same year as the first English PSO2 Servers.
So Sega hasn't really given us a Phantasy Star game in over 10 years at this point. A coincidence? I don’t think so at all. I won't hear it's because of money, I also won't hear its because of hackers. The only way I can accept these defenses is by understanding; that being why “Sega and Microsoft sought a partnership.” I’m sure Microsoft has superior security with that. I also know Sega wanted Microsoft’s help with a “super game” that’s obviously PSO2. Moreover, I do firmly believe both companies had a lot going on with how Coronavirus caused an influx in all things gaming, especially with lock downs happening worldwide before and after PSO2′s western release. (actually all things went up but hugely electronics and especially at the start & during this time)
So with PSO2 being brought over at this very convenient time when people can't leave their house and have nothing better to do, kids and non-essentials (I’m a full time essential employee and I’m so much more bitter now) who have never touched any other Phantasy Star game can pick up PSO2 and see nothing wrong with it. Sure “it's a sequel” but what kid is going to go out of their way to play the 20 year old original, when the sequel is wrongfully named and the game is MUCH more Phantasy Star Universe. I get the combat is more immersive but my other issue in all of this is telling people they don't have to spend money on this game.
If you don't have a full time job, I might understand. But people jumping on PSO2 during its western release are dealing with the brunt of the grind at the best possible chance in a lifetime. Phantasy Star is a grind based series, sure. PSO2 is, I cannot stress this enough, a different grind. If you can get by with the bare minimum, good for you. Personally, selling 12 stars I'm never going to use to a merchant to get a 1k meseta to work towards something I want that's 300k+ meseta and climbing since it's unobtainable now doesn't work for me. I had 1 season pass and got everything I could ever want for my character with constant full use of the user shop, and settled from there since I ended up with an outfit I couldn’t find in the shop anymore. As a veteran, I wanna look like I give a big fat fuck about the game, but you can't even do basic things that are easily accessible in every other game such as trade or change your hair color without AC. I feel like a peasant. Its cringe, Sega Gatcha. (and yeah I’m aware of salon passes and how long they can take to get)
And I know it gets boring once you've maxed your characters out, that's why you waste so much time taking snazzy pictures of them with the in game filters that cost real money. Mind you all that value you received is still in Sega's hands, and I hope they don't reset your character and make it all worthless like they did for me when I finally enjoyed it in 2020. At least I got to keep being a Duman (yeah I still picked it) BUT HEY FUCK THOSE CLASSES THEY ADDED LATER THEN ERASED WITH THE NGS UPDATE AMIRITE (I don’t care if its been fixed, idk if it has, if it would be it doesn’t change anything, being called PSU2 would change everything)
But yeah there's my thing on PSO2 that I concluded over the years that I need to talk about so Happy New Year almost lmao

Simblr Community Challenge by @amelettes
Thank you @frauhupfner for tagging me! ^^
How long have you been playing the Sims - I started playing Sims 2 in 2004, soon after it came out. I never played Sims 1 and knew nothing about the franchise but my then-boyfriend had and thought I would like TS2, so he recommended it to me. He was right.
How long have you been a Simblr, and why did you become one - Despite the fact that I’ve been in the community for so long, I’ve only had this Simblr for a few months, since August 2020. I used to be active in the LiveJournal and Dreamwidth communities 10+ years ago but then I stopped playing and when I returned, everyone was on Simblr, so I had to make one as well. :P In some ways I like it better than LJ/DW, in other ways less. So it goes.
What type of Simblr are you - There’s no straightforward answer to that, I’m still figuring out what my “thing” is, as it were. I enjoy posting pictures of my game, and I’m trying to find the right balance between posting interesting, engaging content and playing the game in a way that is fun for me. I also make and post custom content, and I’m currently working on a Sims 2 PSP conversion pack!
Which generation of Sims do you primarily play - Sims 2 for eva! Well, I also played Sims 3 for a while, but I didn’t like a bunch of things about it, and had to mod it to hell and back to make it work the way I wanted, which had a tendency to corrupt my saves. I played Sims 4 even less, even though I find it fun in its own way, but it bores me quickly. The lack of control I have over my neighbourhoods is a big turn-off and I miss the quirkiness and unpredictability of TS2. Also WANTS and FEARS, chemistry and oh so many other things that are missing.
Rules - Tag some people, and let the community bonding commence!
I tag @deedee-sims @mdpthatsme @saralynnx @coriel-muroz @krabbysims @mystic-hysteria

meet the simmer - TS2 Edition
I was tagged to do this by @mrslandgraab - thank you!
Your name: Kat!
Languages you speak: Just English, and extremely low-level GCSE French :(
Are you a mermaid?: Sure! I live in a coastal town & was a huge mermaid & dolphin girl as a kid, even had an underwater/dolphin themed bedroom. These days my vibe is more witch-y than mermaid-y, but I’m down with being any kinda cool fantasy lady, haha
Your play style: It’s a mix, yeah! I tend to play with a lot of structure (rounds, challenges, etc.) but keep the rules pretty loose & optimise more for storytelling than anything. It varies a lot between saves and sometimes even between families, haha.
Your Simself picture: Gosh, I haven’t played with a simself in forever... here’s one from 2015, lmao:
Tumblr media
She doesn’t really look anything like me since I wasn’t the best at faces in those days, and my style has definitely changed in the last 5 years (although the hair isn’t all that different) so maybe I’ll make a new one, just for fun?
Stories or gameplay, builds, look books, edits or CC: Gameplay & builds, mostly!
Your favorite age state: Young Adults, university is my favourite! :D
Your favorite season: Spring or Autumn - I like that nice in-between weather and the feeling of the world chaning...
Your favorite holiday: Christmas, definitely! It can be kind of a stressful holiday but it gives me such a strong feeling of community and love, with family, friends, hell even on simblr! It’s the only time of year I really get together with my extended family. I also love the food, the decorations, the lights, Christmas pantos, classic films on TV, ghost stories... it’s got it all, imo!
How was your day?: So far so good! It’s been a weekend of having absolutely no plans (courtesy of corvid-19, heh) and just kinda relaxing. It’s a worrying time in a way but it’s also been nice to not have to worry about cramming as much as possible into the weekend & just being, yknow?
Your favorite career: I like running a OFB career the best but other than that... maybe crime, haha?
Your favorite aspiration: Knowledge & Pleasure!
Your favorite EP, GP and SP: Probably Mansion & Garden, I can’t live without all that gorgeous garden decoration & the cool archetectural details! For EP, hmmm, maybe university? University is my favourite part of the game, I think :)
How old is your simblr?: Apparently it dates back to August 2014 so, gosh, about 6 years??????????
Have you WooHooed?: Haha, serious question? Yeah
Your favorite skill: Creativity, probably! Although really its the hidden skills linked to it that I like, painting& music proficiancy, etc.
The size of your mods folder: 28GB >.< no comments on this please lmao, I know how bad it is & I hate it
Your 3 favorite mods: Going to cheat and say all the occult stuff by @midgethetree, the simological school/prison mods, & @hexagonal-bipyramid‘s traits project!
Your interests (other than Sims): Writing, D&D (I’m a newbie DM currently running Curse of Strahd for my IRL friends), anime, reading, drawing, tarot, fashion (I like ‘alternative’ style but lean more into witchy/granny/mori stuff than the ‘edgy’ look), witchcraft/occult stuff in general, knitting, embroidery... the last 2 are very new hobbies I’m still getting the hang of!
Your favorite Sim (picture if possible): Chosing one is always basically impossible for me so I’m gonna go ahead and post a few favorites...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which Sims games have you played (including mobile games)?:Definitely TS2 is the one I’ve played the most of, but I’ve also played all the other mainline games... TS1 was only at friend’s houses, never got into TS4, but I have played a lot of TS3.
We never had a PC as a kid so I’ve played looooooads of the console ones. On the PS2 The Sims, Bustin’ Out, Sims 2, The Urbz (the best one.) Also the Sims 2 DS game & PSP games. Those are both pretty great. I also played the Sims 3 Wii game which was fucking terrible, haha.
Propose a crazy scheme: Bring back round robin legacies where a different simmer plays each generation
Best part of simblr: The community spirit is great, everyone is always eager to help each other and the level of creativity is just wow
Worst part of simblr:Sometimes I miss how much people commented in the old LJ days - without “threads” in comments it’s much harder to build friendships on Tumblr without going out of your way to message people, which is always a bit intimidating!
What other games you play?: I don’t play that many other games because I like the Sims 2 so much, but me and my boyfriend generally play through a couple of games together each year... mostly the Zelda and Final Fantasy series. I also play 00s era Sonic games weekly with one of my friends, haha. They are kind of crappy in a lot of ways but hold so much charm for me, I just love them... in general I like visual novels, mysteries, puzzles, adventures & anything with a good story. Not so big on anything very large and open-world, or first-person.
Other favourites include Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Harvest Moon (had to quit this one cold turkey lmao), TWEWY, the 999 games & Phoenix Wright.
Other websites or accounts (Origin, Twitter, etc.): I’m on discord! katatty #9742
Are you single?: Nope, been in a relationship for the last 5 years & we’re very happy. We moved in together last summer!
Tagging @strangetomato, @moocha-muses, @nostalgiasimmer & @simhealing - if you’re up for it!

Simmer- Get To Know
Tagged by the lovely: @ohsosims ❤️
Languages you speak: English & some Spanish
Are you a mermaid: Ummm no, what would make you think that?!
Your Playstyle: 42% Gameplay, 10% screenshots, 35% build mode, 6% in CAS, 7% trying to storytell but fail.
Your Simself Picture:
Tumblr media
Stories or Gameplay, builds, lookbooks, edits or cc: I mainly just post edits of my Sims or some gameplay. I would LOVE to make storytelling posts (with subtitles and all of that) but I don’t know where to start & if anyone really would want to read that. Like there is story in all my Sims but I just don’t know if y’all would want to read that. But these challenges have been really fun to do! I wanna do more lookbooks though! Custom Content I’m still trying to work with but I’m struggling a little bit but soon I’ll have some for y’all!:)
Your favorite age state: I honestly enjoy them all but I wish I could do more for elders! I can’t wait for knitting!
Your favorite season: Autumn
Your favorite holiday: So in my game I have a holiday called “Summer Farewell” it happens on the last day of Summer & the day consist of chill vibes. Drinking, playing outside, swimming, bbq, fireworks, hanging with friends & family & chilling around a bonfire. It’s super chill & I honestly look forward to it. Maybe I should post more about it soon!
How was your day: It was okay. Work sucked ass. Being understaffed all the time & working with a fake ass coworker is so draining. But it got better when I got home because I played some Skyrim. Then went out to eat with my mom at Five Guys then bought myself a memorory foam bed topper from Bed Bath & Beyond. So I slept amazing last night. Now it’s Saturday & I plan on not leaving the house!
Your favorite career: Ummm that’s kinda hard because I always choose freelance careers in game because I love how your sim can stay home & just work. But it gets a little monotonous at times. I also love the teacher & administrative careers that came with Discover University!
Your favorite aspiration: I love the geeky ones, like collecting stuff & I love the family aspirations!
Your favorite EP, SP or GP: this is so hard ugh. For favorite EP it’s either Discover University or Get Together. Favorite GP is Parenthood but also Strangerville because it’s actually pretty great! Favorite SP is extremely tied between Tiny Living & Moschino for the build & buy items!
How old is your Simblr: it will be hitting one year old soon! I’ve always wanted to make one but never did. But I finally just made one. I used to blog about my sims on Amino but that community was toxic and their ways were extremely toxic & stupid. So it pushed me to make a Simblr & I loved it ever since. You can go on Amino actually and still see my posts. STORYTELLING POSTS!
Have you woohooed: Ummmmmmmmmmmm not on my conservative Christian blog😚💅🏼
Your favorite skill: Gardening
The size of your mods folder: Not that bad actually, just 15 GB!
Your 3 favorite mods: Wicked Whims, McCommand Center & Andrews Pose Player
Your interests (other than the sims): I love to play video games, I’m a huge gamer. I also love to travel. Even if it’s to a small town in the middle of nowhere, I just love to see new places. I live in Texas so any chance I get to travel around, I’m always excited for it. I also love to write stories & songs. Then last I love to cook, so I’m always watching Food Network to see what ideas I can get to create in the kitchen.
Your favorite Sim (picture if possible): that is so hard because all of my sims that I post on here are my babies. So I can’t just pick one. But my favorites would have to be between Kade, Zephan & Tobias.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which Sims games have you played (including mobile games): The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 2 on GameCube & the Strangetown one for PSP. Urbz on PS2 & on Gameboy. The Sims 2 Castaway. The Sims 3 on PC & PS3. SimCity 3,4,5(ew). I have never touched the mobile games & I never got to play TS3 Medeival :(
Propose a crazy scheme: Omg I know this is crazy but wouldn’t it be amazing if our Sims could own multiple homes, basically house flip & rent them out to other sims. Get that money, or let their children that are trying to move out, live in those homes. Or how crazy would it be if the roommate system wasn’t just from Discover University but was BASEGAME. DEAR LORD.
Best part of Simblr: Seeing the crazy talent & passion that simmers pour into this game. Seeing them tell awesome stories & sharing their amazing CC! Also seeing people form friendships over this game is pretty magical.
Worst part of Simblr: Seeing blog who put so much effort & work into their posts & blogs and seeing no one appreciate it. Also the bitches behind anon leaving hateful messages.
What other games you play: Stardew Valley, Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online, Minecraft, Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, Cities Skylines, RDR2 & a lot more.
For the fun: Stardew Valley
For the thrills or for the need to kill assholes: RDR2 & Skyrim maybe some GTA5.
Are you single: VERY VERY lol
I tag: @himbosims @katmk36 @gremlinsims @geeky-simz @thatonebrobo @invisisim @kalissimsblog @quinnterestingsims @nougat-sims & at anyone else who wants to participate!❤️ if I missed you I’m sorry but please participate!
