Translator’s note: Of course Kou’s date spot has to be a karaoke booth! I’ve actually never been to a proper Japanese-style karaoke but it’s something I’d love to do today. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a good singer by a long shot, but the atmosphere just seems like a lot of fun. I think it’s fun how the machines usually give you a score as well. I honestly could imagine Kou getting a mediocre score and getting really salty as a result, haha. Idols are just as much about aesthetics and marketing as they are about having an actual good voice after all. (and if I have to be honest, when listening to Mukami songs, I’d say Yuma and Azusa have better singing voices. Sorry Kou)

The music stops playing.

“Wooh~! Thank you! That was it for Kou-kun’s life performance! Applause!”

*Clap clap clap*

“Aah~ I sung my heart out! Lately I’ve been doing almost exclusively interviews for magazines, it left me feeling a little unsatisfied. I’m still an idol deep down, so I think I enjoy the actual singing and dancing part of the job the most! Ah-ah~ I hope I’ll get to sing on a proper stage again soon rather than inside a karaoke booth.”

You gaze at him.

“Listen, M-neko-chan...You seem to be a little out of it, but do you have any idea how lucky you are? You are pretty much the only person on this world who gets to listen to my singing from this close!”

You nod.

“Glad you understand.”

*Rustle*

“So, how was my singing? ...Pretty cool, wasn’t it?”

You praise him. 

“Ehehe~ Thanks! Hmー But your reaction seems a little underwhelming. Hey, don’t you have any other comments?”

You tilt your head to the side.

“Mmh! For example, did you fall in love with me all over again...after seeing my ‘idol side’ come out for the first time in a while?”

You admit it.

“Figured so! You looked at me completely starstruck after all! You were basically giving me heart eyes!”

You compliment his voice. 

“Do you really...like my voice that much?”

You nod.

“Hmー Which tone do you like best? I mean, there’s a difference between when I’m singing or just talking to you regularly, right? Also...Heh~ My voice when I’m whispering in your ear like this, for example~?”

You flinch.

*Rustle*

“Ehehe~ Judging from your reaction...I have to conclude that you like this one best. You naughty girl, M-neko-chan~”

You protest. 

“Sure, sure, you can save those excuses for later. Our time’s almost up, so you should pick a song for yourself as well.”

“Mmh! Now that we’re here anyway, I’m sure you’d like to sing as well, no? Here, you can use this machine to input a song. ...Which one will you go for? Just to remind you, you’ll be singing in front of me, so I won’t let you choose a boring song!”

*Beep beep*

“...? M-neko-chan...? Could it be...You don’t know how to input a song?”

You nod.

“Eeeeh~!? Unbelievable! You don’t go to karaoke booth and such!? Guess I have no other choice...I’ll pick for you. Let me see...”

*Beep beep*

“Hm...”

*Beep beep*

“Okay! This is the one! It’s ‘the’ idol song of the moment, so I’m sure you know it as well, right? Ey!”

*Bleep*

“I chose the music video version so dance along with the visuals, okay? I can’t wait to see this~!”

You frown.

“Huh? What’s the matter?”

You explain that you’re not very confident. 

“Ahaha! It’ll be fine! I don’t expect you to be a great singer! Rest assured. I simply wanted to hear your voi...Ah...I see...”

*Rustle*

The song starts playing but Kou turns it off right away.

“ーー I changed my mind. No singing for you after all. Instead...”

*Rustle*

“Entertain me over here. ...I want to hear the sounds you make when you’re feeling good~”

*Rustle*

“Don’t try to pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about...”

*Rustle rustle*

“Why are you resisting? You don’t want to feel good together? ...Fufu~ You really love my whispering voice, don’t you? Your shoulders are twitching~ I’ve only touched you through your clothes...but you’re feeling good already?”

You squeak.

“The doors here are kind of transluscent, what if the people from outside could actually kind of see what’s going on in there?”

You try to get away from him. 

*Rustle rustle*

“Ehehe~ ...Oh come on, don’t try to run away! ...Who cares? Let’s show everyone what you look like when you’re in heaven. You love that sort of thing, don’t you? You are the one and only...’masokitty’ after all~”

They can hear people outside.

“Oh...Seems like people are gathering in the hallway.

You panic.

“Don’t worry, they won’t come inside this room. I think they’re just chatting outside. If you try to move now, you’ll only attract more attention so keep still, okay?”

*Rustle*

“Come on! Didn’t I just tell you not to move? Oh? Do you want them to see you, perhaps?”

You shake your head.

“Liar~ Your cheeks are red. You’re actually hoping...for multiple people to see you in this compromising situation, aren’t you? I’m a gentleman, so I’ll grant that wish of yours.”

*Rustle*

“Here you go. Take a seat.”

*Thud*

“Like this, they’d get a much better view, no? I hope they notice you soon. ーー Or perhaps they have already? ...What we’re about to do, that is. Perhaps that’s why they’ve gathered there in place?”

You look away.

“Come on, don’t avert your gaze. Look their way. ...Ah-aah~ Your face is completely flushed. How adorable. I can’t get enough of seeing you embarrassed. ...I’ve waited long enough, right? I don’t think I can hold myself back any longer. I’m going to suck your blood from here.  ーー Let me hear my all-time favorite cries of yours.”

Kou wants to bite down, but then the phone starts to ring.

*Riiiingー Riiiingー*

“...Ah, god! We were just getting to the best part too, but the stupid karaoke’s phone is too loud! I hate this!”

*Rustle rustle*

 He picks up the phone.

“Yes? Ah...Ten more minutes? Okay, we’re leaving now!”

He walks back to you.

“Let’s go home. I’ll help fix up your clothes.”

*Rustle rustle*

“Hm? What’s wrong? ...Aah~ Are you perhaps left wanting more because we had to stop halfway through? ...Hehe~ I wouldn’t have minded to keep going, but I don’t actually want others to see you.”

You raise one brow.

“I mean...I don’t want anyone but me to see the cute faces or sounds you make...That’s why I refuse to keep going here, even if you beg me. Besides, it’d be annoying if the phone were to start ringing again. I don’t want our time together to get interrupted again.”

*Rustle*

“That’s why...We’ll continue at home where we can take our sweet time, okay~? I promise I’ll suck your blood...until you’re utterly satisfied.”

My DL Drama CD Collection + Recommendations

At this point in time the Diabolik Lovers series has a huge number of drama CDs and I thought it might be nice to talk about which ones I’d recommend for anyone who wants to get into the CDs but isn’t sure where to start. I’ve included a list of all of the CDs I own under the cut, so you can see exactly which volumes I’m referencing and if you spot a volume that you’re interested in and want to know more about then feel free to send me a message :)

Recommendations:

Rather than recommending random drama CD volumes, I’ve selected drama CD series that I would recommend based on what you’re looking for (and from there you can pick out the volumes of your favourite character(s)): 

Darker content -> The original Do-S bloodsucking CDs, the original Versus CDs, the More, Blood CDs and the Versus II Carla versus Shin volume. (One thing that’s worth noting is that in the original Do-S CDs, the dummyhead mic is only heavily utilized in the final ~15 minutes of the CD, whereas this isn’t the case for the versus or More, Blood CDs so if that’s important to you then this might be something to take into consideration).

Romance -> The Bloody Bouquet, Para-Selene or Born To Die CDs are going to be the best choice if you want something romantic. The Born To Die CDs are definitely the best if you’re just looking for fluff, but they are only available for the Tsukinamis and Kino (and to my knowledge none of them have English translations). As for Bloody Bouquet and Para-Selene, given that Bloody-Bouquet is themed around marriage, it’s a bit more romantic than Para-Selene but if you have the time/money then I’d recommend checking them both out.

Action/plot -> The Zero CDs. Because these CDs feature an actual enemy (the portrait version of the boys) they contain much more action than most of the other CDs. The versus CDs also have this to some extent but are much more open-ended and geared towards fan-service, while the Zero CDs have a self-contained story, with a satisfying conclusion.

Comedy -> Any bonus CD featuring multiple characters with the exception of the Chaos Lineage preorder bonus CD (which acts as more of a prequel to the game). In general bonus CDs with more than one character tend be very funny, and although I don’t own too many, my personal favourite is the Lost Eden bonus CD in which you and the boys hunt around the Sakamaki mansion for your and Azusa’s missing socks ( 「靴下を探してin逆巻家～開けてはならないパンドラボックス～」).

In addition: - If you’re completely open to new suggestions, then allow me to humbly recommend Shin’s Para-Selene CD, as besides Shin being my bias, I think this is a really well written CD and does a really good job of summing up Shin’s personality (in fact I would definitely recommend it if you’re trying to get to grips with writing him). - On the subject of writing, if you aren’t particularly confident with the Tsukinami brothers (but want to be) then I would heavily recommend the Versus II Carla versus Shin CD and the Dark Fate vol.1 CD as these a really good reference for writing the brothers interacting with an OC/Yui/a reader prior to any sort of emotional attachment. - If you own Chaos Lineage (the game), unless you’re out to collect all of your favorite boys CDs, I wouldn’t recommend getting the Chaos Lineage CDs, as I wouldn’t say they have any advantage over the game. - I also would not recommend the Lost Eden CDs if you own the game for the same reason (although I haven’t listened to Kino’s volume, which may be of interest to Kino fans). - The Another Story CD from the More, More Blood deluxe edition acts as a companion to the main More, More Blood CD (so Shin’s essentially acts as an epilogue), meaning that if you want the complete story of More, More Blood (and can afford it) then I would recommend getting the deluxe edition over the normal edition, but it is significantly more expensive. - The bonus CDs containing only one character that I own have all been good, so I’d recommend getting a hold of your favourite character’s if you can, however they’re a bit harder to come by than most of the other CDs and they’re normally only about 10 minutes. -The Sadistic Song CDs are all good, but they only feature a song, an off-vocal version of the song and a 9-14 minute mini-drama track for the price of a full drama CD (which is normally anywhere from between 45-70 minutes), meaning they maybe aren’t the best value for money unless you can find them for lower than the RRP.

“Woah…Just as I thought, the surface is covered in a thick layer of dust. ーー Hey, Eve? I’ll dust it off, so could you step back a little?”

You nod and step back.

“...There.”

*Rustle rustle*

“...Woah! …Cough, cough, cough…!! Ugh…Mmh…Don’t worry, I’m fine. I’ll make sure to hold my breath next time. Will you do the same until I give you a sign that it’s safe again? It’s not good to breathe this sort of stuff in.”

You nod.

“...Here I go then.”

Azusa holds his breath as he continues to wipe off the dust.

*Rustle rustle*

“...Phew. That should do. …Ah, you can breathe again as well.”

He jumps off the chair.

*Thud*

“ーー Now we just need to dust off the other shelves, then sweep the floor and give everything else a wipe down as well. 

You note that a lot needs to be done.

“You’re right. Nobody usually comes to the attic, so it hasn’t been cleaned in forever. This might take a while…”

*Rustle*

“But somebody has to do it at some point…In that case, I’ll be that person. Ruki is always busy with business related to Eden while Kou and Yuma both already have things they need to attend to. I want to be useful to them…even if it’s just a little.”

You promise to help out.

“Fufu…I see. Let’s try hard together then. So we can somehow get it all done in time for dinner.”

You nod.

*Rustle*

“Then…The shelf over there is up next but…Hm…What should we do? …The one over there is much taller than this one, see? …I fear that I might not be able to reach the top of it, even with a step…”

You frown.

“Oh…How about we do it like this? I’ll lift you into the air so could you take care of the dust on top?”

You seem worried.

“I can handle that just fine. You’re a lightweight after all. Well then, shall we get started right away? Come here.”

They walk over to the shelf.

“Here I go…”

Azusa lifts you up.

“What do you think? Will you be able to reach it?”

You nod.

“Okay…Then we’ll hold our breaths on the count of three, okay? Three, two…One!”

*Rustle rustle*

“...Haah! …Thank you very much. I’ll let you back down, okay?”

You ask him to wait.

“Hm? …What’s the matter?”

You point out that there’s something on top of the shelf.

“Eh? On top of the shelf? What could it be?”

You explain.

“A thick book? Do you think you’ll be able to grab it?”

You promise to try.

“Mmh. Yes, please.”

*Rustle*

“...So? Can you reach it?”

You shake your head.

“Just a little more? In that case…How about like this?”

You grab hold of the book.

*Thud*

“Really? I’m glaーー …Ah, watch out!”

*Rustle*

*THUD*

“Haah…Eve. Are you alright?”

You nod.

“Hah…Phew…I truly am glad…I wouldn’t have known what to do if you got hurt because of me…”

*Rustle*

“I’m not exaggerating…You are more precious to me than anyone else…So I want to prevent you from getting hurt at all costs.”

You ask if he’s unscathed as well.

“Eh? Me…? …I’m fine. However, you truly are so kind…worrying about me like that.”

*Rustle*

“Heh…Eve…I love you. I want to be together…forever.”

You agree.

“Hehe…I see. If you feel the same way, I truly couldn’t be any happier.”

*Rustle*

“...Oh. By the way, I wonder what kind of book that is? Will you show me?”

You nod and show him the book. 

*Rustle*

*Flip*

“Hm…Oh…Huh? This is…”

*Flip*

“...Mmh. It’s our album. …I didn’t know this is where it went. It has all the pictures we took of the four of us in the past… This really takes me back.”

*Flip*

“So much has happened ever since…So I was convinced the album had gotten lost at some point, but I’m sure somebody stored it away over here.”

*Flip*

“Oh…Look!  This photograph was taken in the human world. I’m pretty sure…this was from before we met you.” 

You ask if you can take a look as well.

“Of course, go ahead! Fufu…This one’s from back when Yuma had just started his own garden. He had just cultivated a bunch of vegetables and insisted we’d take a picture to remember the moment.”

You point out Azusa in the photo.

“Right…I’m the one barely visible in the background. …I’m pretty sure Kou and I were helping him carry all of the vegetables. …Ah. Oh no. If we keep wasting time on this, we’ll never finish cleaning. Hey, Eve, I’ll fill this bucket with water so could you sweep the floor using that broom over there in the meantime?”

You nod.

“This album is pretty dusty too so we should probably lightly wipe it down as well.”

*Rustle*

“Let’s take it to the living room once we’re done cleaning. I’m sure the others will be happy too…to hear we discovered this album. …Who would have thought you’d be the one to find it.”

You shake your head.

“Even if it was a pure coincidence…It’s still the truth. Thank you…for finding our precious memories. ーー Well then, I’ll get going.”

*Cling*

Azusa leaves as you start sweeping the floor. 

*TIMESKIP*

*Rustle rustle*

“Ugh…ugh…ugh…Phew~”

*Thud*

“I guess we’re all done sweeping now. ーー The room has gotten a lot cleaner thanks to you. Now we just need to wipe the shelves and the floor with the water I got earlieーー Cough, cough…Right. Haah…The room has gotten quite dusty, so we should probably open the windows and let some fresh air in first.”

You offer to do it.

“Mmh. Yeah, thanks.”

Azusa starts looking for the bucket of water.

“Hm…Where did I put the bucket of water again…?”

*BZZZZZT*

“...Ah, there it is!”

*Splash*

“Nnh…”

*Splash*

“...? I didn’t realize it was because of the shutters earlier, but the moon is shining rather brightly tonight, isn’t it…? It’s lightening up the room as well. …Hm? Eve? Is something the matter?”

He walks up to you.

“...Eve? Is there something outside? …Ah!!”

Azusa looks at the moon.

“The moon is shrouded in a mist…making it seem like there’s two of them. …!! Eve…! You shouldn’t look at the moon any longer! Hurry, this way!”

*BZZZZZT*

“Ah…Ugh…What is happening…? I suddenly feel…dizzy…E-Eve…”

*Thud*

“Oh…Don’t tell me…is it because of that moon…? So it must really be the thing…Ruki told me about in the past…”

DRAMA CD TRANSLATION UPDATE [MAIN CDs]

I recently finished translating all More, Blood CDs (two of which have yet to be posted on this blog but they are ready to go. >3)

This made me realize that there are actually not that many ‘main’ CDs left to translate. When I say ‘main’ CD, I’m referring to any CD which focuses on one (or two boys in case of the VERSUS ones) and consists of multiple tracks. These are the CDs published on this blog from Monday through Friday.

What’s even more amazing is that thanks to the Chinese fandom over on bilbili, I have found free audio for almost all of them. The only exceptions being the two CDs in bold/italics. Of these two CDs from the VERSUS IV series, i have yet to find the full audio. (Each has one track uploaded but I couldn’t find the other 4)

Translator’s note: BIG OOF. I already knew Kou would not take well to knowing the MC has just completely forgotten about him. He has never been loved by anyone his whole life so possibly losing the one person who actually genuinely cared and loved for him is sure to hurt a lot. That being said, he is going for the more forceful/aggressive approach which might not be the best in this scenario since he’ll obviously scare the poor girl away. :p

You ask him who he is and where this place is.

“Haah...What have you been saying this whole time? Please don’t joke about things like not knowing who I am or where you are. I’m the popular idol Mukami Kou and this is our home! We just arrived here together after you came to watch the recording of my new song. ...Remember~?”

You shake your head.

“...Are you perhaps upset because I haven’t been paying much attention to you as of late? ...I bet you got jealous because my job was taking up all my time, huh? That’s why you’re feigning amnesia to try and trouble me, aren’t you? ...I’m sorry, M-neko-chan. I’ll try my best to make sure you don’t get lonely so...Forgive me?”

You tilt your head to the side.

“Hm...I guess you want me to show you through actions, huh? Then will you remember if I kiss you? Mmh...”

*Smooch*

“Did that lift your mood? If not yet, I wouldn’t mind giving you one more~”

You suddenly push Kou away.

*Rustle*

“...Wah!? What’s wrong...!? ...Are you still mad? ...Also, it’s ‘Kou-kun’ and not ‘you’, right? Please don’t talk to me as if we’re strangers.”

You insist that he is a stranger to you.

“Like I’ve told you a million times by now...Cut it out!”

Kou pins you down.

“When the girl I like behaves that way, even I will get upset, you know?”
