Things I have collected in the masses because of my bird-like obsession for ✨️thingies✨️:
-Crayola colored pencils that are named anything but the color they are (all of which I have slowly been "borrowing" from someone over the course of several months)
-Keychains. LOTS of keychains. Lots.
-Reactions pics (I can't articulate my intense emotions verbally or with facial expressions very well)
-Kandi bracelets of my current obsessions (very recent collection)

🦜 Green Parrots That Talk! How Well Can They Mimic Humans? 🗣️
Green parrots are among the most popular pet birds worldwide, admired for their striking plumage, playful nature, and, most importantly, their ability to talk. But do all green parrots talk? If so, how well can they mimic human speech? Let's learn about green parrots that talk.
Do Green Parrots Have the Ability to Talk?
Yes! Many species of green parrots can talk. Parrots, in general, are known for their ability to mimic human speech and various sounds. However, not all green parrots possess the same level of talking ability. Some species are excellent talkers, while others may only learn a few words or sounds.
Which Green Parrots Are the Best Talkers?
Several green parrot species are well known for their speech abilities. Here are some of the best green parrots that can talk:
1. Amazon Parrots
One of the best talkers among green parrots.
They can develop a large vocabulary and even speak in clear, meaningful sentences.
Yellow-naped Amazons are particularly famous for their speech abilities.
2. Indian Ringneck Parrots
They have a clear and crisp voice, making them excellent talkers.
They can learn multiple words and phrases if trained well.
They start speaking as early as 6-8 months old.
3. Monk Parakeets (Quaker Parrots)
Known for their strong talking abilities.
They can develop a large vocabulary and mimic human voices effectively.
They are intelligent and social, which helps in learning speech.
4. Eclectus Parrots
Although not as commonly green as others, male Eclectus parrots are bright green and excellent talkers.
Their voice is very human-like, making them easy to understand.
5. Budgies (Green Budgerigars)
Small in size but can learn an impressive number of words.
Some budgies have been recorded speaking over 1,000 words!
They have a softer voice compared to larger parrots but can still mimic speech well.
How Do Green Parrots Learn to Talk?
Green parrots learn to talk through imitation and repetition. Here’s how they develop their speech abilities:
Listening and MimickingParrots are excellent at picking up sounds from their surroundings. They often mimic words and phrases they hear frequently.
Repetition and ReinforcementRegular exposure to the same words helps parrots learn speech better.Rewarding them with treats when they repeat words correctly encourages learning.
Interaction and SocializationTalking to your parrot regularly helps improve their speech.Parrots that are spoken to more frequently develop better verbal skills.
Emotional ConnectionParrots tend to remember words associated with emotions. If they receive attention and affection when saying a word, they are more likely to repeat it.
How to Train a Green Parrot to Talk
Training a green parrot to talk requires patience, consistency, and a positive approach. Here are some steps to follow:
1. Start with Simple Words
Begin with easy words like "hello," "hi," "bye," or their name.
Use a clear and consistent tone when speaking to them.
2. Speak Regularly and Repetitively
Repeat words daily so your parrot becomes familiar with them.
Use the words in different situations to help them understand context.
3. Use Positive Reinforcement
Reward your parrot with treats, head scratches, or praise when they attempt to speak.
Avoid scolding them if they don’t respond immediately.
4. Be Patient and Consistent
Some parrots take weeks or even months to start talking.
Keep training sessions short but regular for the best results.
5. Play Audio Recordings
Some parrots learn better by listening to repeated words from recordings.
Play recordings of simple phrases when you are not around to reinforce learning.
Why Do Some Green Parrots Not Talk?
Not all green parrots will talk, and several factors affect their ability to learn speech:
Species – Some species are naturally better talkers than others.
Age – Younger parrots learn more quickly than older ones.
Personality – Some parrots are more vocal, while others are quieter.
Training and Exposure – A parrot that is frequently spoken to will have a better chance of talking.
Bond with Owner – Parrots that feel comfortable with their owners are more likely to mimic their speech.
Conclusion
Green parrots have the potential to be excellent talkers, but their ability to mimic human speech varies by species, personality, and training. Amazon parrots, Indian Ringnecks, and Quaker parrots are among the best talking green parrots. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, many green parrots can learn to speak fluently. If you’re looking for a feathered friend that can talk, a green parrot might be a great choice!

An earlier comment reminded me of this exchange I had on a Facebook post I made looking for help with Rocco’s biting. Don’t be this person guys. Just because a bird plucks doesn’t mean it’s not otherwise healthy. Rocco had his last appointment in August and passed his exam with flying colors. Other than being a lintball of course.
And don’t judge owners because their bird plucks. Parrots aren’t meant to be kept in captivity in the first place- stereotypical behaviors are so common and can happen even in the best of care. Or, the bird might be rescued and has plucked since the owner got them. Believe me, good owners with a plucking bird do *everything* they can to try to alleviate the source of the plucking. Sometimes, it’s not fixable.

hope you don't mind me asking but I saw your tags for the "every video of a parrot should have a 15 second warning at the beginning" post that said that the way people pet them is like an erotic massage? would you mind elaborating on that?
Parrots are incredibly complex animals in both behavior and physiology. In the wild, reproduction is something that is delayed until these birds have adequate food, habitat, and a suitable partner. When these conditions are met, parrots will begin to stroke one another on the back, wing, and belly in order to kickstart the hormonal changes necessary for reproduction.
A pet parrot in a person’s home likely has access to plenty of food and a safe habitat. This coupled with an owner who regularly strokes their back or wings is likely to start making the bird very sexually aroused. This can lead to significant behavioral problems from sexual frustration and medical issues due to the constant hormonal stimulation that is only seasonal in the wild. Birds that are constantly stimulated can suffer from cloacal prolapse and constant regurgitation.
It’s worrying that many parrot and cockatoo owners have no idea they’re essentially giving their bird a handjob when they pet them down the back. When it comes to these birds, always pet them on the face or feet to prevent hormonal stimulation!

Parrots learn to make video calls to chat with other parrots, then develop friendships with each other
Researchers from Northeastern University, in conjunction with scientists from MIT and the University of Glasgow, conducted a study exploring the impact of teaching a group of domesticated birds to communicate using tablets and smartphones. The findings indicate that utilizing video calls may assist parrots in mimicking the communication patterns observed in wild birds, potentially enhancing their behavior and overall well-being in the homes of their owners.

Y'all, I really need to start dressing with more bird/avian/feather themed accessories, it is a must. My parrot nature requires of this.
Also, just went on an errand with the fam, and I was allowed to have my window down while we were on the freeway- BOY let me tell ya, I was having a JOLLY GOOD TIME. The wind was beyond deafening, and I felt numb all over, it was LOVELY.
Completely unrelated sidenote, Once I cut my hair I am so gonna start wearing dangling earings. Probably feather ones.
I really need to start wearing feathers.

What if we were both magic prodigies and it otherized us in different ways and we devoted ourselves to protecting a family member who has general other goals & priorities. What if we both did self-sacrifical devotion in opposite ways.
What if we were dark mirrors of each other and where I've grown overcontrolling you've grown complacent. What if, bought as a servant into a pretty loving home, ownership and control is what love looks like to me, and to you neglected and lonely growing up, love is gratefully taking any scraps of it you’re lent.
By belonging to someone, even if she comes back injured or fails at finding Delgal, she feels like she belongs and is cherished, by owning someone he feels safe in them not leaving him.

She’s what’s tethering him do you see And he’s the only thing giving her direction and purpose in her state. She needs a compass and he needs a support.

They’re both so out of it 😭 It’s the weirdly intense and unearned mutual trust and reliance on each other?? They’re each other’s weird little comfort codependent teddy bear. Or at least they were headed towards that before SHE DIED THEN HE DIED THEN THEY BOTH FORGOT ABOUT EACH OTHER AND NEVER MET EVER AGAIN. Though she’s also the guard attack hound keeping him safe… And vice versa he heals her and can rewrite her very being with just one wave of his hand. They’re both so so mentally and physically vulnerable both but they cling onto each other. They can’t perceive things accurately but despite it all someway somehow they stumble into something closer to resembling companionship just before they both die. Falin is just that kind and Thistle is just that lonely. Overworked.
We both haven’t lived for ourselves in a very long time, haven’t we.

They both have a similar devotion to the people they love but again the difference is that Thistle starts overtsepping while Falin is self-effacing. The other difference between them is that people care about Falin <3 People have given up on Thistle long ago, and he has given people reasons to, while people refuse to give up on Falin. Yaad has a mini arc about it dw about it it’s ok he’s not all alone in the end 😭😭 He reached out for Marcille’s hand but they already all wanted to help him, they just had to be given the chance to, Yaad just had to be given the chance to, it’s okay I’m okay
Hey what if we learned to get in touch with our own identity and the world around us and living in the present again through being in the worst codependent situationship ever.
Falin and Thistle sitting in a tree, sucking on flowers together because they’re h-u-n-g-r-y 💕💕💕

I bet he’s only ever thought of flowers as useless ornaments. Weak weeds. But she shows him they’re tasty and useful and good and pretty in their own right too and deserve existing without proving their worth and waaa <33 Thistles…... Did you know thistles taste sweet if you remove the thorns and eat them?
"Even as a chimera, her kind nature remains" you can’t suppress her in the way that matters. You can’t soothe him in the way that matters. It’s doomed. You’re doomed. It’s all doomed. Save me.
#Spoilers#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#Thistle#falin touden#thistlin#OOOOH UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIP THAT SOMEHOW WORKS OUT SAVE ME#I need them to be traumabonded kittens to not separate post-canon#I’m seeing a raise in post-canon thistle content/interest which makes me v happy#Fumi rambles#Falin learning to disobey orders with Thistle is one of my fave things. EAT THAT CURRY GIRL!!!! Nvm that it’s gonna get you killed#It’s good for the character arc#Falin and thistle sitting on a web o-b-s-e-s-s-i-n-g <3#This is somewhat of a tldr of my huge thistlin post. Plus some thoughts i had in discord or twitter#Keeping it for another day but tbh if you see their dynamic in canon as her thinking/having picked him as her mate it changes nothing#about her behavior which I find funny. Thistle accidentally claimed himself a parrot mate bc he’s bad with monsters confirmed#Ik my thing of them learning to relax and live in the present moment again is pretty fanon BUT IT’S WHAT KUI POINTED TOWARDS#With her calming him down from a panic attack and eating berries. With the baths for dandruffs. Etc. Thistle hasn’t socialized in a long#time and he wouldn’t if it wasn’t a tool he needed to interact with BUT it’s still socialization and it’s getting him in touch with his#surroundings again even if just a bit slowly but surely!! The Toudens have a superpower in reaching Thistle. Bless#How’s that one post go again. he refuses to develop he's part of the problem he maintains the cycle he's trapped in the cycle.#she's growing she's finding her place she escaped her original role she wants to help people she will never save him she will never save hi#Something something they have to abstract each other bc relationships with humans have always been too charged and unsafe#Only by seeing each other as more concept than person more object than peer can they truly be vulnerable#Like the fuckedupness lf their dynamic and state is WHY they’re so attached. Why their dynamic could be so raw and needy#The stars aligned in the worst way. Mission successfully faile#Tfw we both need to feel needed

I know it’s normal but I still am upset - rhubarb got overexcited about foraging treats I was hiding and really lunged with intention to bite me - second time she’s done it in our ~6mos. First time she made contact but never put pressure when I was handing a toy to her. Foraging is a daily routine and it really surprised me.
She showed very little to no body language when it happened -_- I’ve found her social behavior incredibly hard to read in general and I consider myself pretty experienced by now.
I think (hope) it’s posturing bc she’s never tried to hurt and I KNOW she could break my finger. I will be more careful about filling foraging before she’s out and about.
It’s hard when you want to be the “perfect” bird person understanding your animal and they surprise you like that
#behavior#like zukki was a BITER when I got her and it took years to condition out of her - but i always found a reason for it#she was an overstim biter but idk it made SENSE it was consistent.#rhus is scary bc she’s always gentle and I can’t get a read on what makes that time different than the 100 prev times#sigh#again normal parrot keeping her behavior is super easygoing in general for a parrot

These Parrots Won’t Stop Swearing. Will They Learn to Behave—or Corrupt the Entire Flock?
A British zoo hopes the good manners of a larger group will rub off on the eight misbehaving birds
A few years ago, a zoo in Britain went viral for its five foul-mouthed parrots that wouldn’t stop swearing. Now, three more birds at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park have developed the same bad habit—and zoo staffers have devised a risky plan to curb their bad behavior. “We’ve put eight really, really offensive, swearing parrots with 92 non-swearing ones,” Steve Nichols, the park’s chief executive, tells CNN’s Issy Ronald...
