Sun x Taurus x Cetus....
Cetus being put to trial, Taurus wanting Cetus to do die yet he can't face the thought of his old courtship dying so he defends him, Cetus getting his powers taken away and having to live with the celestial fam, getting domesticated in the process and falling for Sun and Taurus...
Or Cetus flirting with Sun and teasing Taurus about it while Sun is in between them like "Why is this kinda hot...?".
Also the angst of Taurus hating the fact of Cetus being in the same house as Sun and Dazzle but yet still loving him and being in love with Sun.... Or that Taurus feels responsible for Cetus losing his arm which he chopped off during Cetus' betrayal...
(Cetus is the main villain and creator of NSP btw! And is a constellation of a sea serpent! Also me and my moot joke that his father is Poseidon since Poseidon created him to kill Princess Andromeda! And I imagine he's Taurus' ex)

2) I've seen that ship before!!!!!! And while a loooot of what I've seen is kinda vague-ish, I am so down. Sun deserves all the lovin', and honestly? I can see it.
Also it's kinda funny how the Celestials are just... becoming Astral Rehab. Oh, you need a pick-me-up? How do you feel about robots-?
I think Taurus would be pretty protective and conflicted, but while Sun has a... bad history with NSP in general ((smth that, I will add as an aside, they really don't touch on enough in Canon, and that has Potential-)) I think he'd also be pretty fascinated overall, too.
All in all, I think Sun, upon the introduction, would be WILDLY uncomfortable. There's a LOT of unpacked Issues regarding NSP that he's dealing with, and I think personally, he'd probably keep Dazzle as far from Cetus as possible. Aside from the Jack Situation, there's also Lunar's recent history, Razzle, and then Nexus. But I also think Sun considers himself to be the dumb one, but his anxiety gets worst when there's unknown components. So after the acclimation, I think he'd have... so many questions.
Imagine Taurus patiently answering everything he can, but some are either out of his own wheel house or even just too hard to explain. So he escorts Sun to Cetus himself.
Cue some passive aggressive flirting solely for the lolz. Smth along the times of "Oh, well color me surprised, Tau - I thought bringing me such a pretty gift would be beneath you~"
"He is no gift of yours; Sunrise is merely a bright mind seeking the truth. It would be in your best interest to offer it."
"Is that a threat, handsome? You know I enjoy a bit of rough play."
"It is a warning that he is under my direct protection. I am certain you recall just how acute my control can be, from personal experience. How is that arm treating you?"
"Oh, I'm not built to tolerate so much salt-"
Enter Sun immediately tilting his head, confused, as he pipes up, "But as a sea serpent, wouldn't salinity be where you thrive? Err- I-I mean-!"
And Cetus just blinks. "Ohh... I like you, silly one. Sunrise, was it? What queries have you in mind for me?"
Taurus is just seething with conflicting, Sun is glowing under the protective affection of a bull and the flirtatious attentions of a fish. Cetus is just happy for the entertainment for a spell.
Bonus points:
• NSP being, like all things, a genuinely GOOD tool in moderation. An overabundance of anything can be toxic, and there is meant to be balance. Cetus may have created NSP as we know it, but Rez and his group are propagating it in a way intrinsically poor to the nature of balance.
• think of them as like. Particles. We have protons, neutrons, and electrons. These make up atoms, which make up EVERYTHING in the known universe. You Need To Have Balance. While the USAGE of NSP is newly (comparatively) in effect, the energy itself has existed prior to it being an art or study.
• from the Nursery Sun Idea, imagine Nurseries being rich with both. Imagine them not differentiating because protecting the brood justifies the means to the end. Sun who doesn't use either SPECIFICALLY because he uses Just Raw Star Power. Sun being exactly what Cetus thought possible, proving a long held theory maybe.
• ((Nurseries, maybe, being damn near extinct for Stars would explain the split. NSP being so volatile would account for the vehement push to NOT USE IT EVER AT ALL THAT'S ILLEGAL-
But simultaneously, Nurseries are lost. Where they once existed in the hundreds of thousands, now they wither and wane. Sun is the youngest, the healthiest, and the newest. The NSP study and formation was done to recreate Nurseries synthetically. "Breaks eggs to make omlettes" type of shit. But it's damn near impossible to replicate bc the two types either react badly or the power is corrupted.))

The U.S. State Department has approved on Nov.19, 2024, a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Republic of Korea of components that will allow the upgrade of the country’s F-15K Slam Eagle fleet. The package, which has an estimated cost of $6.2 billion, follows the decision in 2022 to launch an upgrade program for the aircraft.

The Slam Eagles are the mainstay of the Republic of Korea Air Force’s (ROKAF) multirole missions, with a particular ‘heavy hitting’ long-range strike role. According to the available data, the country operates 59 F-15Ks out of 61 which were initially fielded in 2005. In 2022, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) approved the launch of an upgrade program planned to run from 2024 to 2034.
In particular, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s (DSCA) FMS notice says a number of components were requested for the upgrade, including 96 Advanced Display Core Processor II (ADCP II) mission system computers, 70 AN/APG-82(v)1 Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) radars, seventy 70 AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) electronic warfare (EW) suites and 70 AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS).
In addition to these, South Korea will also get modifications and maintenance support, aircraft components and spares, consumables, training aids and the entire support package commonly associated with FMS. It is interesting to note that the notice also includes aerial refueling support and aircraft ferry support, so it is possible that at least the initial aircraft will be ferried to the United States for the modifications before the rest are modified in country.

The components included in the possible sale will allow the ROKAF to upgrade its entire fleet of F-15Ks to a configuration similar to the new F-15EX Eagle II currently being delivered to the U.S. Air Force. Interestingly, the Korean configuration will also include the CMWS, currently not installed on the EX, so the F-15K will also require some structural modifications to add the blisters on each side of the canopy rail where the sensors are installed.
“This proposed sale will improve the Republic of Korea’s capability to meet current and future threats by increasing its critical air defence capability to deter aggression in the region and to ensure interoperability with US forces,” says the DSCA in the official notice.
The upgrade of the F-15K is part of a broader modernization of the ROKAF’s fighter fleet. In fact, the service is also upgrading its KF-16s Block 52 to the V configuration, integrating a new AESA radar, mission computer, self-protection suite, with works expected to be completed by 2025. These programs complement the acquisition of the F-35 Lightning II and the KF-21 Boramae.

The F-15K
The F-15K is a variant of the F-15E Strike Eagle built for the Republic of Korea Air Force’s (ROKAF) with almost half of the components manufactured locally. The aircraft emerged as the winner of the F-X fighter program against the Rafale, Typhoon and Su-35 in 2002, resulting in an order for 40 F-15s equipped with General Electric F110-129 engines. In 2005, a second order for 21 aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 engines was signed.
The Slam Eagle name is derived from the F-15K’s capability to employ the AGM-84H SLAM-ER standoff cruise missiles, with the Taurus KEPD 350K being another weapon exclusive to the ROKAF jet. The F-15K is employed as a fully multi-role aircraft and is considered ad one of the key assets of the Korean armed forces.
With the aircraft averaging an age of 16 years and expected to be in service until 2060, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) launched in 2022 an upgrade program for the F-15Ks. The upgrade, expected to run from 2024 to 2034, is committed to strengthening the mission capabilities and survivability of the jet.
The F-15K currently equips three squadrons at Daegu Air Base, in the southeast of the country. Although based far from the demilitarized zone (DMZ), the F-15K with its SLAM-ER and KEPD 350 missiles can still hit strategic targets deep behind North Korean borders.

The new capabilities
It is not yet clear if the F-15K will receive a new cockpit, since its configuration will be similar to the Eagle II. In fact, the F-15EX has a full glass cockpit equipped with a 10×19-inch touch-screen multifunction color display and JHMCS II both in the front and rear cockpit, Low Profile HUD in the front, stand-by display and dedicated engine, fuel and hydraulics display, in addition to the standard caution/warning lights, switches and Hands On Throttle-And-Stick (HOTAS) control.
Either way, the systems will be powered by the Advanced Display Core Processor II, reportedly the fastest mission computer ever installed on a fighter jet, and the Operational Flight Program Suite 9.1X, a customized variant of the Suite 9 used on the F-15C and F-15E, designed to ensure full interoperability of the new aircraft with the “legacy Eagles”.
The F-15K will be equipped with the new AN/APG-82(V)1 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar. The radar, which has been developed from the APG-63(V)3 AESA radar of the F-15C and the APG-79 AESA radar of the F/A-18E/F, allows to simultaneously detect, identify and track multiple air and surface targets at longer ranges compared to mechanical radars, facilitating persistent target observation and information sharing for a better decision-making process.

The AN/ALQ-250 EPAWSS will provide full-spectrum EW capabilities, including radar warning, geolocation, situational awareness, and self-protection to the F-15. Chaff and flares capacity will be increased by 50%, with four more dispensers added in the EPAWSS fairings behind the tail fins (two for each fairing), for a total of 12 dispenser housing 360 cartridges.
EPAWSS is fully integrated with radar warning, geo-location and increased chaff and flare capability to detect and defeat surface and airborne threats in signal-dense and highly contested environments. Because of this, the system enables freedom of maneuver and deeper penetration into battlespaces protected by modern integrated air defense systems.
The AN/AAR-57 CMWS is an ultra-violet based missile warning system, part of an integrated IR countermeasures suite utilizing five sensors to display accurate threat location and dispense decoys/countermeasures. Although CMWS was initially fielded in 2005, BAE Systems continuously customized the algorithms to adapt to new threats and CMWS has now reached Generation 3.

Every ounce of energy is different from the Academy. Sure, there are mechs and Pilots being ferried about the hangars, but walking-paces time differently. Officials treat their pilots with something akin to respect (with stretched-definition). The air feels both lighter and heavier in various ways- social-tension, gravity-presence, the absent hum of atmosphere recycle-systems.
After the defeat of MTK-VOKOLOSS (“MECHANIZED-TYPE KAIJU,” an unofficial designation xey find appealing), xey spend the rest of xeir stay almost exclusively docked within the Guard’s hangars. None of the subalterns xey try on for size feel right- either with the wrong number of limbs, or improperly-structured legs, or a balance issue, or (in a particular case) a dent on the upper torso that sends xeir weight-adjust calculations all screwy.
Thermie doesn’t mention to the Guardsmen’s team that xey have a mech-bay waiting back “home” at the Academy. Oracle would thank xem for the free repairs and congratulate xem for not looking a gift in the mouth… according to baseless predictions. Somewhere in that simulation, a single clip of honor tries to bloom before being decapitated.
Passive curiosity fares better in its soil-emergence. It starts as a seed: [Hurricane-Hunter]’s bright red Kidd in the furthest hangar bay, swarming with drones like an agitated hornet’s nest. Then, a sprout breaks the dirt: a drone wanders far from the frame, and is recalled back with a buzz of static that only xey and the drone seem to hear.
Thermie mimics a tongue-click to get the attention of a mechanic on xeir shoulder. The small, spindly human looks up from its snooping, quickly wiping its hand on its pant-leg when it comes away blood-slick from the side of xeir Smartgun.

The human cocks its head and makes a puzzled noise, as if it doesn’t understand Thermie’s question at first. It takes a second to think- process interruption blowback?- before finding the words.
“Not sure how that Kidd does it, but I know a lot of ‘em use Legionspace. Why?”

After a moment, the mechanic shrugs and goes back to poking at the flesh at the base of the Smartgun. Thermie rolls xeir optic case.

[Hurricane-Hunter] fires another command to a wayward drone. The sound of it- is it even a sound?- seals the deal in Thermie’s mind; Soul-searching time. Xey disconnect xeir visual feed and turn xeir words inwards, diving through programs xey’ve never had the courage to boot.

Shit, xey didn’t think about that last part. A swelling heat registers in xeir upper left shoulder and drives xem to panic slightly. Xey set xeir voice to project externally again and shout to the mechanic a warning-
//[TEMPERATURE: WARNING]> Thermoregulation hardware compromised by unknown paracausal agent. Please dismount this frame. I cannot verify your safety if you remain in your current location.
The mechanic yelps in surprise as the plasteel armor plate under its ass sharply warms. It gets the message painfully clear, and loops a length of cable around the Smartgun’s barrel to rappel down to the hangar floor.
//Sincere apologies given. I will alert your team when my frame is sufficiently cooled and safe to work on.
The mechanic fires a two-fingered salute and awkwardly hobbles away, leaving Thermie alone in the maintenance bay. Xey stifle a quiet chuckle- since when do xey laugh?- before returning to the code terminal in xeir mind.

Researchers develop new integration technique for efficient coupling of III-V and silicon
Researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have developed a new integration technique for efficient integration of III-V compound semiconductor devices and silicon, paving the way for photonic integration at low cost, large volume, and high speed and throughput that could revolutionize data communications. Unlike conventional integrated circuits, or microchips, that use electrons, photonic integrated circuits use photons, or particles of light. Photonic integration combines light and electronics to speed up data transfer. Silicon photonics (Si-photonics), in particular, is at the forefront of this revolution as it enables the creation of high-speed, low-cost connections that can handle massive amounts of data at once. While silicon can handle passive optical functions, it struggles with active tasks, such as generating light (lasers) or detecting it (photodetectors)—both key components for data generation and readout. This necessitates the integration of III-V semiconductor (which uses materials from groups III and V of the periodic table) onto a silicon substrate for complete functionality and enhanced efficiency.
