Modern Role Playing Games For People That Want To Get Into RPG‘s
You may have heard of a little game that’s come out recently called Final Fantasy VII Remake. There has been a lot of talk about this game having inspired a lot of people to play a game that they skipped back in the day or inspired them to pick up another RPG because they were so engaged in it. Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t going to make it into this article because I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. But if you’ve always been curious about the RPG genre or maybe you have just finished Final Fantasy VII Remake and are hungry for more, I have a pretty good selection of RPG’s that could offer you the chance to get into a genre of games that maybe you hadn’t considered before. The games on the list are primarily “modern” and what I mean by that is the games will not be SNES era games but rather games that are probably more accessible and easier on the eyes. The games are (as always) limited to what I have had the chance to play. And the games that have been selected were chosen based on the following criteria: low complexity of combat, world building, leveling curve (lack of grinding), and visual appeal. Some of you may want to dive straight into the deep end and download some anime RPG on Steam or find a copy of Chrono Trigger or some certain PS1/NES era RPG and if you can do that then you are an absolute trooper but this post will focus on newer titles rather than the classics. Also if you want me to spotlight a game that you want to recommend put it in the notes because I love getting suggested games! And if you have any questions my messages are always open and I have all the free time to answer them. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way here are games that I recommend as good starting places if you want to get into RPG’s.
Tumblr media
Kingdom Hearts
(PS2/PS3/PS4/XBOne)
Kingdom Hearts is a cross over series that blended the worlds of Final Fantasy with Disney. What makes this game attractive to new players is the Disney half and what hooks them in is the Final Fantasy half. The game is easy to pick up and keeps you consistently engaged in enough story and new locations to keep you wanting more after the credits role. The combat is easy, only requiring a few buttons and allows the player to advance effortlessly without having to worry about their gear or level. The platforming sections help form a cohesive world that is small enough to allow its player to mentally map the whole game easily. The game still tosses around complex themes and sullen moments so it is still very viable to play for adults even though it may take you a good while to start seeing the fruits of that. This is an easy pickup for anyone that is thinking that just maybe they want to try a role playing game that tells a large story in a manageable amount of time that doesn’t require a huge amount of your brain power to get through.
Tumblr media
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
(PC/PS4/PS3/XB360/XBOne/Switch/PSVR)
Skyrim is an open ended role playing game where you create a character and exist in a fantasy world full of dragons and wizards. It’s exactly what most people associate with when they think about fantasy and most of the time it is where people go when they want that sort of experience. If you are trying to play an RPG that tells bite sized stories but includes enough world building to have you reading Skyrim history books until 4 in the morning then perhaps Skyrim is a good game to try. The controls are similar to any other first person game so if you are not familiar with that then there is a learning curve attached to it, other than that there is a wide range of difficulties that allow just about anyone to be able to play through the game. The snowy vistas make this game a beautiful option and the way that the scope of the world reaches miles in front of you gives a really liberating sense of freedom. Skyrim has the potential to become a hardcore obsession but also allows a lighter and more casual experience for people who just want to see main stories.
Tumblr media
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
(PS4/PC)
Ni No Kuni II is a fun game that applies big ideas into digestible pieces. The combat is very simple to learn and fun to exploit. The game adds a strategy mode where you command troops that isn’t awesome but also introduces a town building mechanic that is easy to understand and gives you a visual sense of progression. The story is awesome and keeps the world of Ni No Kuni grounded into its fantastical fantasy setting that borrows a lot from everyday life. The game borrows from the art of Studio Ghibli and is heavily inspired by movies like Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. If any of that sounds like it is interesting to you then this is easily a fun opportunity to bring a unique RPG into your gaming library.
Tumblr media
Pokemon Sword and Shield
(Switch)
I’m willing to admit two things. The first being that I truly believe that Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were the best Pokemon games and that normally I would recommend that someone just play that game instead. However, the second is that Pokemon Sword and Shield are the definitive versions of Pokemon that rid the game of the dated mechanics of previous titles. Pokemon is the monster taming game, the game is a celebration of being able to constantly change who you are playing as and it feels endlessly personal. Pokemon is a great intro to turn based combat that does a great job teaching things like elemental weaknesses and speed stats. This is definitely the easiest, most customizable, and cute, way to enter the RPG genre.
Tumblr media
Persona 5 Royal
(PS4)
Persona 5 Royal is the definitive version of Persona 5 which is the latest installment in the Shin Megami Tensei spinoff series called Persona. The game is about balancing daily high school life with traveling into another dimension to fight shadows. The game has a lot of things in it, a day to day manager, a dating sim, turn based RPG, fishing, darts, batting cage, etc. Persona 5 also drips with style, from the amazing art to the fantastic soundtrack. The combat takes some learning but if you set the difficulty all the way down it becomes an accessible experience at no cost to the gripping story. You are guaranteed to fall in love with this game if you end up playing it and it’s bound to create an obsession that has you playing Persona 4 as well as Persona 3. This is an intimidating game to start but with the difficulty set low you really can’t mess up the other portions of the game so there is always a good way to make sure you can experience one of the best games on the PS4.
Tumblr media
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age
(Switch/PS4/3DS/PC)
Dragon Quest XI is the funniest game on this list. The writing also ironically follows plot lines from other media like Marvel Cinematic Universe or Dragon Ball. You’ll also notice that the game looks a lot like Dragon Ball so if you ever wanted a Dragon Ball fantasy RPG then you might be in luck. The story is driven home by its amazing cast and continues to supply the player with things to do way after the credits have rolled. The turn based combat is very traditional so maybe try this game if you don’t mind learning an older style of game play presented in a fun and easy to understand setting. Dragon Quest XI is guaranteed to hook you in with its likeable characters and grand story telling, if you are at all attracted by the promises of dumb humor, excellent writing, and incomparable character development you should plan on purchasing this game.
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn
(PS4/PC)
An MMO is an RPG too. And as I’m writing this the current best place to live a virtual life is in Final Fantasy XIV. As someone who has tried almost every free to play MMO on the market I can say with absolute certainty that you get what you pay for and the subscription to FFXIV is worth every cent if you want to get into an MMO. The game is large and intimidating and complex, however, the game is also home to one of the friendliest communities I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with and they make the game as special as it is. This is why people that don’t even like video games are drawn to FFXIV because it is an amazing social experience that also happens to be an amazing MMO experience. The story is the best in terms of MMO story lines and the combat is vast boasting 18 completely unique combat classes. I can’t recommend this game enough and if you have ever considered an MMO then I can guarantee you that this is the one that you want to be playing.
Tumblr media
Fantasy Life
(3DS)
Fantasy Life is a game about grinding professions. It looks like Animal Crossing and kind of plays like Animal Crossing would if you could also slay beasts and smith armor in that game. If you are familiar with Life Sim games then this is just the fantasy RPG version of that. The game gives you a job and makes it insanely fun to do that job with fun mini games and a rewarding economy system. This is the “relaxing” game on the list so if you like games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon and you may want to try more combat heavy games then this is a great Segway into that genre of game.
Tumblr media
Diablo III
(PC/Mac/PS3/PS4/XB360/XBOne/Switch)
Diablo III is probably the most famous ARPG which just means that you are looking down from an isometric point of view and are typically facing hordes of monsters to achieve hordes of loot. I would say that Path of Exile might be catching up fast to Diablo but if you want to ease into an ARPG then Diablo III is much more forgiving. The game is instantly rewarding and gives you a lot of customization with your skills and appearance. This game tells an epic story but has too much game in between story beats to make it worth playing for. Although I would recommend this game to a new player that only wants to play an RPG for its gear management and game play versatility without having to sit through endless cut scenes.
Tumblr media
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
(Switch)
In Fire Emblem: Three Houses you play as the combat teacher of one of three groups of kids. You decide what they learn and how well they get at it. The game is a strategy RPG so you are using your brain a bit more to assess situations than the other games on this list. However, Fire Emblem streamlines the system into something easy to understand that is accessible to most new players. While I don’t recommend this game to every new RPG player I’d say that if you really want a game that makes you think rather than hit buttons randomly than you might enjoy the deeper engagement that this game offers. Note that the Fire Emblem series is known for using a very evil emotional weapon called “party member perma-death” which you can absolutely turn off if you would like a less stressful experience. Or live for the thrill, I won’t tell you what to do.
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy XV
(PS4/XBOne/PC)
Final Fantasy XV isn’t a normal Final Fantasy game. It is a road trip that you can’t truly appreciate unless you get distracted. Over the years RPG’s have been known for putting a large amount of side activities in their games, Final Fantasy XV takes its story and encases it in casual game play that involves long drive and lots of fishing and camping. This game is not for everyone but its more casual approach will appeal to a newer audience than a hardened veteran of the Final Fantasy series. People looking for their first RPG won’t be totally swayed by the story here but they will have seen that the journey can be fun if you let it.
So You Wanna Start An RPG
Take it from someone who has played the opening hours of a lot of games and then quit that sometimes you just can’t get yourself to like a game. You owe it to yourself to find in entertainment something that you like. I consider myself more of a casual RPG player, I’ve never beaten any of the classics and I can hardly finish a lot of the RPG’s that I own now. But I think that fickleness makes me a good source to recommend a good RPG for people that may not have the patience to play through a Final Fantasy IV or a Golden Sun. Also remember not to rule out experiences just because people say that they are “bad” because opinions are subjective to you personally. RPG’s have the power to tell moving and important stories, and as a player of them I hope I’ve given anyone reading this some incentive to experience a larger than life story.

Why Diablo 2 Resurrected Could Be a Problem for Diablo 4
https://ift.tt/37weq4J
The reveal of Diablo 2 Resurrected didn’t exactly catch fans by surprise (the project has been rumored to be in development for a while and was leaked ahead of the announcement), but there’s something undeniably exciting about seeing Blizzard finally revisit what many consider to be the finest ARPG ever made.
Even better, much as it was for World of Warcraft Classic, Blizzard and newly acquired developer Vicarious Visions, the team responsible for the brilliant Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remake, is committed to preserving the original Diablo 2 experience as much as possible.
“This isn’t a remake,” said Rod Fergusson, executive producer of the Diablo franchise, in an interview with Polygon. “We’re not reverse-engineering it; we’re not rebuilding it and trying to make it look and sound like [Diablo 2]. This is [Diablo 2]…It’s right there, underneath the surface.”
What does that mean? Well, some things will certainly be different about Diablo 2 Resurrected. You undoubtedly spotted the remaster’s new visuals, which add a 3D coat of paint to the original game while retaining its overall art style, but that’s just one of the ways that the team is committed to intelligently updating one of the best PC games ever made without compromising it.
For example, Rob Gallerani of Vicarious Visions said that the team had made it possible to create a shared stash that lets you easily move inventory between characters. Diablo 2 players were doing this anyway, but there wasn’t a formal way of pulling it off until now. The developers have also added the ability to automatically pick up gold, but they’ve made that feature optional in case you feel that it hinders the experience of the original game. In fact, the team suggested that any changes they’ve made to Diablo 2 Resurrected that could compromise your ideal Diablo 2 experience will be entirely optional.
Even then, the team felt some changes went too far. For instance, the Diablo 2 team decided to not add quest markers to the minimap as they felt it “totally changed the vibe of the game” despite seemingly being a modest compromise. That might not sound like a big deal, but it’s clear that the Resurrected team has identified something special about the core Diablo 2 experience and wants to make sure that anyone who plays the remaster is able to discover it on their own terms.
Based on what we know so far, Diablo 2 Resurrected is poised to be a better-looking version of Diablo 2 with smart adjustments that improve upon the spirit of the all-time classic PC game without compromising its fundamental brilliance. That’s not just a good thing, that’s pretty much what many fans are hoping Diablo 4 will end up being. Actually, that’s kind of a problem.
Let’s go back to 2012 and the release of Diablo 3. The fact of the matter is that Diablo 3 suffered through one of the worst launches a major PC game has ever endured. Due to the game’s controversial always-online requirements, many Diablo 3 fans who waited 12 years to play the next major Diablo game found themselves waiting unnecessary additional hours, days, and, in some extreme cases, weeks to play the game they bought. The title’s connection issues were even the source of the Error 37 meme that has haunted Blizzard to this day.
But no Diablo 3 element drew more initial scorn than the title’s visuals. Even during Diablo 3‘s pre-release marketing blitz, fans let Blizzard know that they were concerned about the sequel’s colorful visuals, and how they contrasted with the dark and dingy design aesthetic of past Diablo games. Indeed, the series’ gloomy nature was baked into the core of the franchise and Diablo 3 was decidedly a departure.
Even if you don’t care about visuals, that perceived “betrayal” of the Diablo series’ core elements is reflected in other ways. For example, Diablo 3‘s auction house attempted to incorporate one of World of Warcraft‘s most memorable features. It ended up being removed from the game and is often cited as one of the Blizzard design team’s biggest failures. Diablo 3 tried to emulate the difficulty of Diablo 2 but it pushed things so hard that many players encountered a nearly insurmountable difficulty spike near the end of the first act. Diablo 3 tried to streamline its character customization and itemization systems, but the initial result made paths of progression feel as linear as the walking paths forced into many of the game’s maps.
Before we go any further, you should understand two things. First off, this isn’t another “Diablo 3 bad, Diablo 2 good” rant. Diablo 3 made the Diablo series much more fluid, much more accessible, and, in general, a far more streamlined experience. It did some things objectively better than its predecessor, and even some of its shortcomings were seen as a noble attempt at making things better. Even at launch, Diablo 3 was still fun to play from moment to moment.
More importantly, Diablo 3 did get better. After many, many patches and the release of the Reaper of Souls expansion, Blizzard was able to turn Diablo 3 into something that felt both closer to its original vision for the game as well as what the fans wanted.
At the same time, the specter of Diablo 2 has always loomed large over its successor. Even the Reaper of Souls expansion, which, along with the introduction of the Loot 2.0 system, is often credited with turning Diablo 3‘s fortunes around, borrowed some of the best elements of its art style, itemization, and character-building changes from Diablo 2. The idea that the best thing Blizzard could do for Diablo 3 was go back to Diablo 2 has cemented itself even in the heads of the threequel’s most avid fan.

Diablo 4’s New Skill Tree Revealed Alongside Equipment and Talent Updates
By Matthew Byrd
Games
PC Gaming Innovations That Changed the Way We Play
By Matthew Byrd
Something similar is already affecting the long-awaited Diablo 4. The very first images and trailers of Diablo 4 were clearly designed to invoke memories of the dark and gritty nature of Diablo 2. Blizzard has even emphasized the title’s “gritty” style when discussing something as simple as the sequel’s UI. Even before Diablo 4 was showcased, speculators and industry insiders reported that the project was designed to be a giant love letter to Diablo 2. While early gameplay previews of Diablo 4 show that it’s actually closer to an improved version of Diablo 3 with Diablo 2 visuals and a couple of gameplay concepts, we once again find ourselves in a position where the conversation about Diablo comes back to Diablo 2.
Now, Blizzard comes along and just decides to bring Diablo 2 into the modern world. Even better (or worse, depending on how you’re looking at this), the studio has secured the help of one of the greatest remake developers in the entire industry. That seemingly simple concept of making automatic gold pick-up an optional feature is exactly the kind of thinking that was missing from the Warcraft 3 remaster, a game that should have been a slam dunk hit which ultimately turned out to be a “Blunder Fury.”
The fandom’s love for Diablo 2 isn’t just based on nostalgia. If you download the original Diablo 2 and its Lord of Destruction expansion from Battle.net right now, you’ll find a game that has aged astonishingly well in every department but the ones that Resurrected is about to address: visuals and quality of life features. Unlike WoW Classic, which clearly needed some major improvements, Diablo 2 is a truly incredible game that has barely aged a day. It’s also the game that inspired two of the best ARPGs of the last 15 years, Path of Exile and Torchlight. The latter was even developed by the co-designers of the original Diablo titles.
There’s a sense that Blizzard is almost working against itself by releasing a Diablo 2 remake with the improved visuals and intelligent improvements that many hoped would be featured in the actual Diablo 4. Mind you, Diablo 4 never needed to be merely more of Diablo 2. It always could, and still can be, the best of Diablo 2 and the best of Diablo 3.
At the same time, you have to wonder whether a taste of Diablo 2 Resurrected will alter the expectations for Diablo 4 in a way that Blizzard may not be prepared to meet.

Path Of Exile Synthesis League Is Around The Corner: Not So Ideal For Xbox One Users
Tumblr media
At this moment, we can clearly see there are less than 14 hours still left to roll out the Synthesis league officially through the countdown timer on the official site. It's a prominent incident for all Path of Exile fans at the beginning of 2019, and keep in mind that there are a lot of juicy contents waiting ahead the rest of this year. Although it's rather crucial and breathtaking, on the other hand, not so hyped and crazy about for Xbox owners as they find themselves stuck in a jam.
In the latest announcement from Grinding Gear Games, not only is the Xbox version of new update arranged to release three days after the PC version, but the update would also require a redownload of the whole game file for every Xbox One device. It's estimated that the redownload features the size of 10GB in the Xbox One consoles and at least 20 minutes to complete that before accessing, assuming that your network has the theoretically largest bandwidth.
Based on the official explanation of the redownload occurrence, a re-work of the file system has been conducted and probably succeeded in Xbox One, in order to "pay the way for future tech developments" and "minimize the potential memory issues". Normally, an update deployed to any games means players only have to download the update part while every other part of the game stays put. However, re-work of the file system stands for the thoroughgoing overhaul to a game with every aspect involved. Simply stacking the new update up can't make it all worked at all.
Tumblr media
It's definitely not my original intention to be such a messenger and say something like this, but, today may be the double whammy for both Xbox users and PS4 owners - the announcement says that there is still no firm date of the PS4 version' release while prior to this, game developers committed to exposing the date two weeks out from launch in the last post. All of this implies that the release date of the PS4 version is put off to the late March at least - while the developers reiterated multiple times before that the release would affirmatively roll out in mid-March. Guess they just went back on the old deal, again.
Nevertheless, the Synthesis league will go live as scheduled a few hours later on PC for the majority of Players in the Path of Exile community. This is all the highlight we should underline now. We believe there are millions of gamers have been dying for the moment of new league' release for months and the game, in the hopes of impressing on every audience, won't fail anyone after all.
Path of Exile: Synthesis league will go live on Friday, March 8th 12:00 PM (PST), alongside new contents, such as new POE Currencies, POE Orbs, gems, storyline, spells, skills, passive tree and so on. See you in the new league, mate!

What Is Online Gaming? What You Need To Know Prior To Your Kid Plays Online Gamings
League of Legendsis among the biggest, best played MOBAs available on PC. In League, you play as a champ, a warrior with unique abilities and flexibility, as well as have to collaborate with teammates to ruin the opposing team’s base. Naturally, matches can end up being decidedly much more complicated as you deal with stiffer competition, and can last up to an hour.
If you want informal action, Battle Thunder offers you an arcade-style mode that makes it easy to decrease in and create chaos. If you’re the simulation type, War Rumbling has some highly comprehensive physics, ammunition, as well as damage systems working under the hood to drive residence the sim aspects and make your battles as sensible as possible.
Blade & Spirit is complimentary to play, certainly, however you can optionally buy new warrior clothing, extra personality slots, and also other products. If dungeon crawling isn’t your thing, Blade & Spirit’s arena uses excellent PVP action to slake your affordable bloodthirst. Leveling is rather simple, as well, so it doesn’t take very long to get to max level, where the video game’s material really opens up.
Like Nidhogg, Eggnog+ sees you encounter a challenger in sword duels as you race to the opposite side of the map. Additionally, Eggnog+ features retro design visuals that provide the video game plenty of old school charm as you parry as well as drive.
Internet Browser Gamings
You play against other players online in rounds, and also to win each round, you require to obtain more points than your challenger.
There are a lot of microtransactions here– you can purchase brand-new cards– however it’s a CCG in 2020, so there’s no genuine means around that.
You’ll likewise get to play against AI opponents articulated by actors from the anime.
Officially branded as a “totally free test” on Heavy steam, there isn’t much to divide this hero shooter from various other free-to-play games on the market.

This Diablo 2 mod will keep it up to date like Blizzard never stopped developing it
Diablo 2 fans have been finding ways to keep the classic ARPG alive long after Blizzard has moved onto other games. Some projects show off what Diablo 2 in 4K looks like, while others teleport the game somewhere else like Grim Dawn. This Diablo 2 mod, however, is being designed around the idea of what the old PC game would look like if development never stopped.
"We're improving quality of life, making skills that were mechanically limited by the design of the times more viable, and improving a lot of dated design concepts that were just a result of the early days of game development," the Project Diablo 2 lead tells us. "It's essentially about applying 20 years of RPG knowledge and backdating it to Diablo 2 so that we can pretend the game has been patched that long."
Project lead SenpaiSomething goes on to explain the design philosophy means creating more builds, items, endgame content, and giving players reasons to group up by adding new maps - which he notes are similar to a Path of Exile system. He also says that the Diablo 2 mod will feature new dungeons for groups that want more team play. These dungeons are optional side-content that requires support and tank builds, which he says is a foreign concept to most ARPGS.

Warhammer Chaosbane Review
The post Warhammer Chaosbane Review appeared first on Fextralife.
In just a few days Warhammer Chaosbane will release for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Warhammer may be the most popular series of all time, when it comes to role playing, and there have been so many iterations it’s nearly impossible to keep track of them all. However just having the Warhammer title doesn’t mean a game is an instant hit, and in fact the franchise has had its share of “duds”. This leaves a lot of players wondering, “How will Chaosbane measure up?”. In this Review I’ll attempt to answer that question and more. Please note that I played on the PC version of the game, and my impressions are based upon this version.
Warhammer Chaosbane Review
youtube
Genre: Action Role-Playing (Hack n’ Slash) Developed by: Eko Software Published by: Bigben Interactive, Games Workshop Release date: June 5th, 2019 Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC Price at the time of the review: $49.99
Story and Setting
Chaosbane begins in the city of Nuln, located within The Empire. Players will take on quests in a search to free Magnus, one who would unite the people against the forces of Chaos. They will travel to the city of Praag, located in Kislev, as well as the Frozen Forest of Knives in Norsca. The story, though very generic in my opinion, was not any worse than other Warhammer games.
The locales of the game all look and feel different, and I thought Eko did a great job of adding some subtle details in the background that you may not even notice because of the game’s non-stop action. Tentacles move, lights flicker in the distance, and the world doesn’t seem as static as Diablo 3. This is something I enjoyed more and more as I progressed the game, and is something I began looking forward to.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Warhammer Chaosbane is about what you’d expect from a Hack n’ Slash ARPG. Players wade through hordes of enemies, gain experience and new Skills, as well as loot. There are 4 Classes, that all play a bit differently, and have their own unique Skills and Equipment. Because this is the primary focus of these types of games, I’m going to dive more into detail on this aspect, beginning with Skills.
Skills & Skill Points
When players gain experience they gain a level, and a Skill Point. Players do not need to “purchase” Skills with these points, but rather they are needed to slot Skills. Each Skill costs a certain amount of Skill Points in order to slot, and more powerful Skills cost more Skill Points, with the most expensive requiring 18 Skill Points. Skills are also unlocked as you level up, so you won’t have access to all of these right away, and you will gain these as you progress the game.
Players will also acquire Skill Points from progressing the game’s Story and will max out at 100 Skill Points. Builds will be comprised not only of gear, but also how to spend these 100 Skill Points in a manner that works. Players can slot any combination of 6 Basic and Advanced Skills, they can slot 3 Passive Skills and 3 Fan Skills. This means that there are important decisions that need to be made here, but players can play around with combinations at will, so there is no risk involved.
God Skill Tree
Players will also unlock something called the God Skill Tree once they get to a certain point in the game, and this will allow them to spend Fragments and Favour Points. These will give the player Passive upgrades like more Health, more Damage or Cooldown Reduction, but also new Active Skills that are quite powerful. This aspect reminds me a lot of Path of Exile, and players will have to make decisions about where to go from the starting point, and different directions have varying bonuses.
The Imperial Soldier for example, has 3 directions you can go: DPS, Tank or more of a hybrid between the two. Players will gain a total of 50 Favour Points, so they will not be able to max out this whole tree, generally forcing them to commit to one side or the other in order to gain some amazing Skills. You can reset your Favour Points but you will lose all of the Fragments you have spent, however, this isn’t such a huge deal because these can be farmed extremely quickly at end game, so don’t worry too much about losing them if you want to try something else.
Equipment & Sets
Players will inevitably gain loot through out the game, and there are varying qualities, that mirror other Hack n’ Slashes. The better the quality, the more Stat Bonuses that the item will come with from a select pool for each type of item. These are randomized, so you might get the same weapon with different Stats.
However, every single Armor piece is part of a set from the beginning of the game. These Sets are almost completely irrelevant though because their bonuses are negligible, and you are far better off just using the best of whatever you get until you hit end game, than trying to complete a set for a shitty +5% Health or +5% Damage bonus. This seemed like a lazy attempt to make things a bit more interesting, with very little effort.
End Game
The end game begins once the player completes the main story once, and they unlock Relic Hunting. Relic Hunting is much like Rifts from Diablo, and players will pay Gold Crowns to travel to randomly generated maps that contain hordes of enemies. These enemies drop the coveted “Legendary” loot that are part of Sets that actually have meaningful bonuses, and they also drop tons and tons of Fragments that you can use for God Skill Points as well as Blessing your Equipment. These Relic Hunts have negative modifiers that are randomly selected, and are applied to you only during that Hunt.
Players will run Relic Hunts over and over becoming more powerful with each because of Equipment upgrades, and more Fragments for God Skill Points. Players can then increase the Difficulty of the game for even better chances of loot while running these, rinse and repeat. This becomes particularly fun when playing with other players, and is probably one of the biggest selling points of the game.
Co Op
In Chaosbane you can play multiplayer with up to 4 players on one system, including PC, or you can play online. This allows you to enjoy the game on your couch with friends, or meet others to play with. Loot is Class specific in Warhammer, so it doesn’t matter who picks it up, it will go to the appropriate Class. This helps make this aspect more enjoyable when playing with people you do not know.
Audio, Visual & Performance
The soundtrack and audio effects of the game are actually pretty nice and all dialogue is voice acted. The voice acting isn’t amazing, but I’ve heard worse for lower budget games. The graphics of the game are not overly impressive for a game in 2019, however I had zero issues with frame drops playing at 1440p, and the game runs very smoothly. In addition, I had no crashes at all, and there were only a few mild bugs to speak of, which I was quite pleased with.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a very long time since a good Hack n’ Slash title was released, and most people in the genre are playing Path of Exile, Diablo 3 or Grim Dawn. After the extreme disappointment of Inquisitor-Martyr, I did not have super high expectations for Chaosbane, but I think it met them, if just barely. The loot system is about right, the Skills are interesting, there is room for different Builds, the Boss fights are fun, and you can play with up to 3 other players. These are all good things.
However, the game falls down in areas like level and enemy design. You see the same cookie cutter pieces of map over and over, and you can almost predict where to go, much like Bloodborne’s Chalice Dungeons. And the elite and mini-boss enemies are really the same ones re-skinned over and over again ad nauseam, lacking any interesting mechanics to speak of. Why keep playing if the enemies you fight are boring and the maps are uninteresting? The gameplay, while addicting and fun with others, is bogged down by a real lack of motivation to keep playing.
Warhammer Chaosbane releases on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on June 4th.

Path Of Exile: The Fall Of Oriath Review – Lord Of Distraction
Path of Exile was already a sprawling adventure, but the action/RPG is now even bigger. The Fall of Oriath expansion adds six acts to the game’s campaign (for a total of 10, not including the end-game epilogue), stuffs monster pockets with new items and loot, and fundamentally tweaks the game’s difficulty and progression path. And, nearly four years after the base game officially debuted on PC, it’s finally available on Xbox One. Grinding Gear Games has methodically finessed PoE since release, and players who drop into this dark fantasy world for the first time will reap the benefits.
If you’re new to the game, getting settled can take a little while. On its surface, it’s a straight-up Diablo clone, with the same presentation, environments, and overall flow that creates an immediate sense of familiarity. While it certainly shares foundational elements from Blizzard’s series, Grinding Gear Games veered into a different direction. Or, more accurately, a whole lot of different directions.
One of the things I like most about PoE is the sheer number of gameplay systems and microloops that are available at any given time. The most notable (and perhaps notorious) of them is the game’s massive skill tree. It’s an intricate web that all character classes share, giving you the ability to slowly devote points into becoming a powerful archetypical hero or dabbling around to develop a hybrid that fits your own personal playstyle. Unlike a game like Diablo III, where you can mix and match abilities to create new character builds whenever you feel like it, PoE is more deliberate.
My first build was a zookeeper-style witch, which is a style of play that I usually enjoy. I squeaked through the campaign thanks, in large part, to her skeleton army. The Xbox One’s controller generally works well, and I was able to hang back and accurately fire off potshots while enemies were distracted by my minions. Casting spells that require precise placement was a bit trickier. Using an on-screen cursor to drop them into place is a clunky process that requires holding down a trigger and then the corresponding skill button. Life comes at you fast in PoE, especially when you’re a glass cannon, and an analog stick is no match for a mouse in some circumstances.
Since characters share the same skill tree and have access to the same large pool of weapons, skills, and other items, I was concerned my next character would feel too similar. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. My marauder is a melee maniac who sprints into enemy clusters and swings his axes until there’s nothing left to swing at. He feels completely different from my witch, which was exactly what I was hoping for.
PoE has a lot of content to wade through in the lengthy campaign, which has more than doubled with the new expansion. While you keep a shared inventory stash between characters, your new heroes will have to play through the campaign again. The Fall of Oriath expansion removed the game’s previous loop of playing through the campaign multiple times at increasing difficulty levels, which is an improvement. The overall story is fine, but considering how much variety the game’s randomly generated maps offer, I would have loved for my second character to have access to something similar to Diablo III’s adventure mode. There is a loose analog in PoE’s end-game atlas content, but that’s reserved for high-level characters.
PoE is a free-to-play game, which means that there are microtransactions. Fortunately, they’re handled well. Aside from the ability to buy new character slots and add inventory space (which is, by default, generous), everything else is cosmetic. You can pay for spell effects, so that you hurl flaming skulls instead of fireballs, as well as a vast array of costume elements, pets, and weapon skins. Most importantly, the game’s economy – a huge part of the experience – is completely divorced from any for-pay elements. Instead, players buy and sell items using crafting items and other rare drops.
I’ve been having a great time with PoE, and it’s fast become my go-to when I need to get in a rewarding grind. The Xbox One version may be a little late to the party, but it was absolutely worth the wait. This fantastic game takes the best of the genre and propels them to impressive new heights.

PC Gaming Week: 7 best strategy games for PC and Mac you can play today
Games that just a COMPUTER can provide
Strategy video games make you assume. They're not such as most shooters that provide mindless gameplay, or the adventure game that has you leaping off cliffs as well as driving boats.
Strategy video games need your mind juices in any way times to prepare each move very carefully as well as assess just what the opponent will certainly do following-- promptly. They require you to establish militaries, build worlds and collect resources in the procedure.
But technique games aren't nearly the gameplay: they typically supply sprawling, geopolitical tales also that hook gamers and maintain them concentrated on the campaign. That stated, just what makes a technique video game excellent is just how it pulls gamers into its mythology as well as enables them to accomplish goals without overcomplicating it.
Here is a handful of strategy online games on the PC as well as Mac that attain this equilibrium perfectly.
1. StarCraft II
Blizzard Home entertainment launched the first StarCraft sci-fi armed forces strategy video game back in 1998, and also while it was incredibly prominent, the video game wasn't the mammoth item StarCraft II has actually come to be. With the sequel, Snowstorm has actually launched three installments that extend one substantial project: Wings of Freedom (2010), Heart of the Flock (2013) as well as Legacy of the Void (2015).
Each of these launches concentrate on a certain lead character team: human exiles called the Terrans in Wings of Freedom, the Borg-like insectoids called Zerg in Heart of the Throng, as well as the telepathic alien race referred to as the Protoss in Heritage of the Space. The overall campaign happens 4 years after the Brood Battle development pack for the original StarCraft, starting with Jim Raynor's quest to remove the high-handed Terran Dominion.
StarCraft II is successful by incorporating sharp tactical gameplay and also balance with an immersive story and also surroundings. The online game additionally includes its very own degree editor, enabling gamers to share their maps as well as mods through the Battle.net online neighborhood. Naturally, StarCraft II can be played online-- it's one of the widest-played eSports worldwide-- however presently it does not offer local LAN play. StarCraft II can just be bought from Snowstorm Entertainment digitally and in boxed versions.
2. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
Here's another prominent approach game from Snowstorm, though with a distinctly dream style. It was released back in 2002 as well as features a single-player campaign story that's informed with the eyes of 4 races: Humans, Orcs, the Undead, as well as the Evening Elves.
As with StarCraft, players are commonly confronted with a map covered in a black fog, which is gradually gotten rid of as you discovers the location (Diablo does this, also). You start by mining information, building settlements as well as developing soldiers in order to shield your assets as well as take control of other components of the map. A day/night pattern maintains players on their toes, too.
There are an overall of five campaigns in Warcraft III that center on a certain race: one for the Night Elves, one for the Undead, one for the People, as well as 2 for the Orcs. Objectives are labeled as 'missions' and are rolled out as the player checks out a map. The are both major quests an optional pursuits to carry out, the previous being called for in order to move the story forward-- natch.
Warcraft III additionally supplies a multiplayer component that can be played over neighborhood LAN. Snowstorm also released a growth pack called The Frozen Throne that was published back in 2003. Both the original video game and also the development could be purchased for the PC and also Mac through Blizzard's on the internet website, and also in a Battle Upper body retail box.
3. XCOM 2
This method online game is rather brand-new for the PC, Mac and also Linux channels, established by Firaxis Games and also published by 2K Gamings in February 2016. It occurs Twenty Years after XCOM: Opponent Unidentified (2012), and also sees the Planet taken control of by aliens-- just what else?-- in spite of XCOM's best efforts.
In this installation, XCOM is currently component of a resistance activity aimed to reclaim control of the planet.
In the single-player project, players assume command of XCOM, a former military company that is currently a simple resistance force. A new Avenger mobile base has been set up where from you provide commands while heading research study and engineering divisions to develop tools and also other tools that will certainly assist combat the hostile aliens.
What makes XCOM 2 stick out is its maps, which are lavish as well as abundant thoroughly, as well as it's strategy-rich, turn-based combat. They're likewise different each time you play them, maintaining the game fresh. Along with the single-player project, there's additionally a peer-to-peer multiplayer mode, pitting players versus each other making use of squads blended with alien and also XCOM units.
XCOM 2 could be purchased through Vapor, Amazon.com and also other sellers in boxed and also digital editions.
4. Cities: Skylines
If you were disappointed by the messy launch of the extensively frustrating SimCity reboot back in 2013, take relief in that 2 years later on an advancement group with a greater understanding of its target market took fee of the category in a much a lot more decent, and much less flagrant, manner.
Sacrificing all the always-online DLC traits in favor of holding larger cities and also Heavy steam Workshop support for mods, Cities: Horizons is every little thing classic SimCity players wanted, and would certainly have obtained if it just weren't for whatever the hell took place at Maxis.
Cities: Horizons preserves the appeal of early city building simulations with a handful of modern twists. An in-game social networks solution for example called Chirper allows citizens obtain in contact with you, the globe designer, to voice problems.
More noteworthy, however, is the thrill of handling traffic paths on an area to district basis. As a matter of fact, most of your administration in Cities: Skylines is separated by areas, making tax as real to the USA as developmentally possible.
5. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Developed by Antique Amusement as well as published by THQ in 2004, this armed forces sci-fi video game is based on the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop wargame. The game occurs on the royal world of Tartarus that's presently overrun by Orks. Behind-the-scenes, the human-run Imperium remains in consistent battle with the Orks-- in addition to those human beings offering the demonic Turmoil and also the Eldar (room fairies)-- in a battle to maintain the human race alive.
That said, the game supplies 4 militaries the gamer can make use of throughout the single-player project: Area Militaries (extraordinary soldiers), Mayhem Marines (mutated marines), the psychic race of Eldars (once more, space elves), and also the savage Orks. Resources consist of power as well as appropriation, the latter which is generated by the military head office. Power is created by establishing generators that will degeneration in time, maintaining the player busy.
The game begins with you establishing your major headquarters and a number of fundamental systems. Then, you're routed to concentrate on recording and also holding tactical areas on the map that could later be utilized to harvest extra resources and also unlock nearby locations on said map. Battles are won by getting riding of bases inhabited by opponent forces, or by hanging on to areas for a duration of time.
There are 3 development packs for this RTS title currently offered: Winter season Assault (2005), Dark Crusade (2006) and also Soulstorm (2008). Every one of these, consisting of the base online game, can be acquired on Steam instead cheap.
6. Homeworld
This is an oldie however a goodie, created by Antique Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment in 1999. The primary protagonists are the Kushan, that at once were exiled to a nest of prison ships after losing a stellar war. Other races include the Taiidan, an interstellar realm that rules many of the galaxy, the Bentusi traders, the Kadeshi, the Turanic Raiders as well as the Galactic Council.
A essential component that divides Homeworld from the other video games in this article is that it's played in a 100% 3D area, hence its specialized following.
The usable races contain the Taiidan and also the Kushan. Each have their particular staminas and weaknesses, and also are at first entrusted to gather minerals from planets and also produce dust clouds using special spacecrafs, which bring these resources back to the gamer's information controller ship, carrier or mothership. Ultimately, the task handy is to keep the fleet to life as it completes objectives and compiles resources.
Ther things of the tale is to situate the homeworld of the Kushan, called Hiigara. This story spans sixteen missions across the single-player campaign, which sees the making it through ships of the fleet carried over to the next mission. There was an online multiplayer element to the game as well-- enabling players to helm either the Taiidan or Kushan.
Homeworld is readily available for Windows and Mac OS X in a Remastered collection by Transmission Software program on Heavy steam, which includes the remastered variations of Homeworld as well as Homeworld 2, timeless variations of both video games, and more.
7. The Banner Saga 2
Like the initial online game, The Banner Saga 2 reprises the Pick Your very own Adventure layout, however with a handful of necessary improvements to its auto mechanics.
While it's not a full-on video game sequel, but instead an episodic extension of the first video game, rather essentially beginning at Chapter 8, Banner Saga 2 handles to take the fight system from the initial as well as turn (base) it on its head.
By including brand-new personalities, classes, as well as by default, brand-new capabilities, the online game really feels a little much less like a two-year-late second episode and even more like a considerate follow-up to a beloved faux-nordic traditional approach video game. Also exclusive to the sequel are instances of even more easily integrated narration in-battle, all without overlooking the requirement for an increased range that'll make you seem like an ant contrasted to your combatants.

Whether you’re building for the web or UWP, the latest consumer app or line of business tool, there’s something in it for you. Tomorrow will be our “Developer focus” day for the Bug Bash, so tune in today to learn what’s new, and get ready to bash on it!  We’ll have a new set of Developer-focused quests ready for you in the Feedback Hub tomorrow.
Today we are excited to be releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15031 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.
What’s new in Build 15031
Do more at once with the new Compact Overlay window: Ever want to continue watching a movie while switching app to check your email? Or keep an eye on your video chat even as you’re browsing the web? We do all the time! Some tasks don’t require the user’s full attention but is perfect to leave at the corner of the screen so we’re introducing a new compact overlay mode for UWA app developers. When an app window enters compact overlay mode it’ll be shown above other windows so it won’t get blocked. The best part is that compact overlay windows work just like normal windows in all other ways so app developers can tailor the experience with what they already know. Updates to the Movies & TV app and Skype Preview app will take advantage of compact overlay windows in the near future!
Introducing Dynamic Lock: Dynamic Lock automatically locks your Windows 10 PC when you’re not around based the proximity of a Bluetooth-paired phone. If your Bluetooth-paired phone is not found near your PC, Windows turns off the screen and locks the PC after 30 seconds. To enable Dynamic Lock, make sure your phone is paired to your PC via Bluetooth and go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and toggle Dynamic lock to “on”.
NOTE: See known issues below regarding a bug preventing PCs on this build from successfully pairing devices via Bluetooth.
New Share icon: We’re introducing a new share icon. Apps that used the “share” font glyph in Segoe MDL2 assets should get the change automatically. You can read more about the change here.
Windows Game Bar improved full-screen support: We got a ton of feedback on Game Bar and we are continually adding more titles with this support. In this build, we’ve added support for 52 additional games in full-screen mode with Windows game bar. As always, just hit WIN + G to invoke Game Bar to capture a recording or screenshot.

Other changes, improvements, and fixes for PC
We fixed the issue causing Tencent apps and games to crash or work incorrectly.
We’ve updated OOBE so that if there’s no detected audio output device, for example with VMs, it now skips Cortana’s introduction.
[GAMING] We fixed the issue causing popular games may experience crashes or black screens when trying to load due to a platform issue.
[GAMING] We fixed the issue where Game Mode is enabled system wide by default, however, the ON/OFF toggle in Settings will incorrectly show it as being OFF until the user manually toggles the Setting to ON which will cause it to update and accurately display the status of Game Mode system wide.
We fixed an issue where the night light quick action was unexpectedly disabled in the last Insider flight.
We fixed an issue resulting in audio going quiet each time the Start menu is opened after a SpeechRuntime.exe crash.
Dragging apps from the all apps list to pin on Start’s tile grid will now work. We also fixed an issue on recent builds where some tiles might unexpectedly appear blank and with a name starting with “P~…” after upgrading.
We fixed an issue where Win + Shift + S wouldn’t work to capture a region of the screen if the Snipping Tool was already running. We also fixed an issue where taking a snip with the Snipping Tool would fail on 4k monitors when 60-80% was selected.
We fixed an issue resulting in “Fn”+”Pause/Break” key not working to pause the checking progress when running chkdsk.
We fixed an issue where resizing windows with a pen would be unexpectedly slow. We also fixed an issue where resizing a window across monitors with different DPIs could be unpredictable.
We fixed an issue where the Windows Ink highlight preview wouldn’t be visible in Web Notes when Microsoft Edge was using dark theme.
We’ve improved gesture recognition for 3 finger swipes on precision touchpads.
We fixed an issue where a number of files with the name GLOB(0xXXXXXX) could be unexpectedly found in the system root directory after upgrading.
We fixed an issue where you couldn’t rename disk volumes via File Explorer in recent flights.
We fixed an issue where rapidly tapping a button to bring up the new Share experience, for example in Microsoft Edge, could result in the Share UI not coming up again until the device had been rebooted.
We fixed an issue resulting the lists of thumbnails in Photos and Groove Music visibly shifting up when the app resumed.
We fixed an issue where the Themes Settings page would blink when a theme was deleted.
We’ve updated the help string on each page of Settings to be a bit more sucinct.
We fixed an issue resulting in not being able to type ę on the Polish keyboard into the Settings search box.
We fixed an issue where Cortana Background Task Host might have ended up using an unexpectedly large amount of CPU in recent flights. We also shorted the two factor authentication notification from Cortana so that it won’t be truncated.
We fixed an issue where the UI to input credentials wouldn’t have keyboard focus after initiating a remote connection to another PC.
We’ve improved reliability when handling malformed Gifs in XAML-based apps.
The icons should now be shown as expected instead of squares under Settings > Gaming.
Known issues for PC
[UPDATED] IMPORTANT: You may see “Initializing…” when attempting to download this build and the download progress indicator shown when downloading this build may seem broken under Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. It may look like you’re getting stuck at 0% or at other percentages. Ignore the indicator and be patient. The build should download fine, and the installation should kick off. See this forum post for more details.
While we fixed the primary bug causing this issue, some Windows Insiders may still hit nonstop exceptions in the Spectrum.exe service causing their PC to lose audio, disk I/O usage to become very high, and apps like Microsoft Edge to become unresponsive when doing certain actions such as opening Settings. As a workaround to get out of this state, STOP the Spectrum.exe service and delete C:ProgramDataMicrosoftSpectrumPersistedSpatialAnchors and reboot. For more details, see this forum post.
Going to Settings > Devices will crash the Settings app. You will be unable to pair a Bluetooth device. Bluetooth quick actions from Action Center also does not work.
You will not be able to launch the Connect UX via Action Center, Win + K, or Settings (it will crash upon launch). This will impact wireless projection scenarios.
[GAMING] Some popular games might minimize to the taskbar when launched. You can click on the game on the taskbar to get the game back.
[GAMING] Certain hardware configurations may cause the broadcast live review window in the Game bar to flash Green while you are Broadcasting. This does not affect the quality of your broadcast and is only visible to the Broadcaster.
Microsoft Edge F12 tools may intermittently crash, hang, and fail to accept inputs.
Microsoft Edge’s “Inspect Element” and “View Source” options don’t correctly launch to the DOM Explorer and Debugger, respectively.
Under Settings > Update & security > Windows Update you might see the text “Some Settings are managed by your organization” even though your PC isn’t being managed by an organization. This is a bug caused by an updated flight configuration setting for Insider Preview builds and does not mean your PC is being managed by anyone.
On some PCs, audio stops working sporadically with ‘device in use’ error”. We are investigating. Restarting the audio service may fix things for a bit.
The Action Center may sometimes appear blank and transparent without color. If you encounter this, try moving the taskbar to a different location on screen.
The icon for Windows Insider Program under Settings > Update & security is shown as a square.
Community Updates
Last week our team traveled to Nairobi, Kenya to launch the second #Insiders4Good fellowship in East Africa. The response to our announcement was tremendous and the Windows Insider Program was talked about in 11 sessions, interviews, press events and panels across the two days. You all are famous!
We continue to learn about the more developing parts of the world and today, we are celebrating Nigeria Day, a day to reflect upon our learnings from and investments in our time spent in Africa. We have invited the entire Windows org to come and bug bash on our 2G network using some standard quests (install Windows, join the Windows Insider Program, set up your machine, etc.) so our team can develop more empathy for what most of the world experiences quite often. We will have a full recap of our experience next week!
Happy bug bashing—and see you on the next Beam live stream on Saturday 7-9 pm PST.
Keep hustling team, Dona <3

Divinity Original Sin 2
The developer Larian Studios announces players will be able to gain some free content in the form of gift bags for Divinity Original Sin 2 along with the latest update and explains why these are different from loots boxes.
Making sure that fans of the game understood that the gift bag received in-game for Divinity Original Sin 2 is far from a loot box. Describing loot boxes as “hard and ostensibly containing loot” while “gift bags are soft and contain gifts”.
These “Gift Bags” were released by Larian containing a new set of customisation options such as facial features, entirely new faces and hairstyles that you can use in your campaign. You can also use the new additions by heading to the Magic Mirror located aboard the Lady Vengeance to respec your current character.
There is also a plan to release a second gift bag during this year, no specified release date has been announced but the developer has stated it will contain more customisation options that have been “inspired by our modding community”. The new content is now being created alongside two other European developers Fools Theory and Anshar Studios.
The gift bag arrived with the latest update which included some bug fixes and support for the MacOS.

Fallout 76
Bethesda are rolling out a new event this March called Fasnacht, celebrating a townsfolk tradition which has now been adopted by the bots that roam the town of Helvetia.
Fasnacht is an age old tradition celebrating the founding of Helvetia in 1869, the inhabits of this town used to adorn eye catching masks, as well as burn an effigy of Old Man Winter. Now that the towns people are long gone, the bots are still taking on the tradition each year.
Players will be able to take part in this repeatable, limited-time event quest, available for one week from March 19th until March 26th.
Setting up for this monumental occasion will require various tasks. Completing these party tasks will allow the Protectrons to march in the parade. However, all this fuss may attract the wrong attention, there may be a few ready to crash the party. You will need to protect the marchers as they set out on their parade route, and successfully set ablaze Old Man Winter. Players will gain some loot and earn a festive Fasnacht mask for their very own.
There are many masks to gain and are can be traded.

The delay previously was talked about by the developer Grinding Gear Games, as they expressed their intent to provide a positive experience on the new platform.

Dead Cells
At the end of last month, Dead Cells developer Motion Twin was featured in a behind the scenes video that shared that a free DLC called Rise of the Giant would be releasing for PC. The developer now announces the launch date.
The Dead Cells DLC update called Rise of the Giant will be a free addition to the challenging Metroidvania game. It will be available to test through beta on Steam for those who want to experience the new areas, bosses, new skills, weapons as well as the new Skinning system which allows players to adorn new outfits.
The developer also confirms that Rise of the Giant DLC will be making its way to console as well, in a recent tweet they explain how they wish to narrow the gap between the PC and console releases.
According to the Steam page, Motion Twin are not done adding new content to the game, expressing “we’ll be continuing to make content for the game for as long as you keep demanding it”.

Borderlands 3
This year’s PAX East will be attended by Gearbox who confirmed they would be going and prepared to show some “never-before-seen reveals”. They now share a tweet that drops clues pointing to a possible Borderlands 3 reveal.
The latest tweet shows a road sign with the date March 28th as well as Boston, which is the same date and location of Gearbox’s panel for PAX East. Not only is the image done in a similar Borderlands artstyle but also has an “Exit” sign with a cut off “3”. There’s not much else to go in this picture, but this could mean they are ready to reveal their third entry in the Borderlands series.
This leaves the question of where Borderland 3 will take players now with sci-fi online co-op shooters such as Anthem and Destiny 2. What will the next instalment offer that can help the game differentiate itself, while still holding onto what made their  previous games memorable for fans? They could go in the direction of Fallout 76 with survival mode, or the upcoming The Outer Worlds with it’s own unique version of the VATS system. Guess we’ll have to wait for more information and the actual reveal which looks like it will be at PAX East.
Be sure to catch the live panel on at PAX East at 2:00pm EST on Thursday 28th March.

Phoenix Point
The original creator of X-COM Julian Gollop has received some not so positive feedback as the next title becomes an Epic Games store exclusive.
The next title created by the X-COM creator Phoenix Point is a turn-based strategy game and gained a crowdfunded backing of $765,948 from 10,000 backers on Fig in June 2017. The campaign stated at the time that Phoenix Point would be available on the Steam platform at launch, promising those who helped bring the title to it’s goal, a Steam or GOG key.
However, now Phoenix Point has become an exclusive to the Epic Games store for the first year. Backers will still gain a Steam or GOG key after the first year has concluded, in addition to an Epic key. They will also receive all three DLC packs at no cost. Those who may not be happy with this decision can get a refund which has been offered by Gollop.
It seems there is quite a few unsatisfied backers who have voiced their opinions through the subreddit and social media, expressing their disappointment over this decision. Gollop explained in a reddit AMA, that he was the one who had started talks with Epic about signing a deal and the stability that it would bring the title.
