"Hi, Paul! We're You're Biggest Fans!"~❤️🦇
Tumblr media
The retro printed edit variant of my homage to Paul Reubens! I was attempting to replicate the texture and color registration of the old Dick Sprang Batman comics from the 50s. I love that this has a Wally Wood kinda feel to it.
Hope I did a great job!!

1943 – Luis Caballero Holguin, born in Bogota on this date (d.1995) was a painter, watercolorist, pastellist and lithographer. Caballero is known for depicting masculine fugures, and his works often include both erotic and violent imagery.
Caballero was raised in a conservative Catholic household. He studied at the Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia) in 1961-62, where he met and was influenced by etcher artist Juan Antonio Roda and art critic Marta Traba. He continued his academic studies in Paris at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, graduating in 1964. It is during this time that he discovered Willem Dekooning and Francis Bacon. Back in Colombia, in 1968, he won First Prize at the First Ibero-American Biennal of Medellin.
Caballero returned to Paris where he found more freedom in 1969 and lived there until 1995, when he returned to Bogota for a special exhibition of his work at the Luis Angel Arango Library.
His figurative works are usually large scale mixed media oil, ink, watercolor washes on either canvas or paper, sometimes incorporating fabrics or rope in a limited range of muted sepia colors, often representing male nude figures, in a contemporary style marked by classic training.
His work was briefly censored by those who considered it “obscene, pornographic and immoral”, even though Caballero himself said: “Maybe the creative impulse is the same as the erotic impulse,” and: “I paint the bodies I would like to possess.”
He died in June of 1995 at the age of fifty two.

1952 – Today's the birthday of Paul Reubens, (d.2023), best known for his character Pee-wee Herman, he starred in the television series Pee-wee's Playhouse from 1986 until 1990. He also starred in an HBO special called The Pee-wee Herman Show, the 1985 movie Pee-wee's Big Adventure and the 1988 movie Big Top Pee-wee.
In July 1991, after deciding to take a few years' sabbatical from Pee-wee, Reubens was arrested for indecent exposure in an adult theater in Sarasota, Florida. The arrest set off a chain reaction of national media attention that changed the general public's view of Reubens and Pee-wee. The arrest postponed Reubens's engagement in big projects until 1999, when he appeared in the big-budget Mystery Men and Blow and started giving interviews as himself rather than as Pee-wee. He has since gone on to take roles in darker themed movies like Blow. Reubens appeared as the Pee-wee Herman character for the first time since 1992 at Spike TV's 2007 Guys Choice Awards in June 2007.

1961 – Tom Ford is an American fashion designer. He is well known within the fashion industry for his legendary turnaround of Gucci, one of the most influential fashion houses in the world.
Ford was born in Austin, Texas. After graduating from the Parsons School of Design in 1986, initially having studied architecture, he took design jobs with Cathy Hardwick and Perry Ellis. In 1990, he was recruited by Gucci to design women's ready-to-wear, and Ford later moved on to become the chief director for Gucci. Ford called french editor Carine Roitfeld and photgrapher Mario Testino and asked them to help him revamp the old fashioned house. His own film star looks probably helped re-invest Gucci with its lost glamour. By 1999, Ford had helped propel Gucci into a fashion powerhouse. When Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint Laurent, Ford was named the creative director of that label as well.
Tom Ford is openly gay, and he and his partner, journalist Richard Buckley, have been together since 1986. Buckley was the former Editor in Chief of Vogue Hommes International. Buckley was diagnosed with cancer in 1989 and after his recovery the two moved from New York to Italy.
In 2004, Ford stepped down or was asked to step down from both of his positions, amid rumours he wished to direct films. Following his departure from Gucci (and YSL), Ford opened the fashion house, Tom Ford. Ford began with accessories; his line of eyewear was the first to become successful. The Tom Ford line now covers menswear, beauty, eyewear, and both men and women's accessories. In 2006, he also established a fragrance line called Tom Ford Beauty.
Tumblr media
He gained a lot of publicity when in 2007 he stripped down for a new boxing-themed photo shoot in the November issue of Out magazine and jumped in the shower with two burly boy models. (The above is a "before" shot.) Ford said he made sure to compliment his fellow models' natural endowments in the shower but assured the mag that it didn't make the pair uncomfortable. "They sense from me that I'm not going to give one of them a blow job," he said. "I just don't do that."
Tumblr media
In March 2005, Ford announced the opening of his film production company, FADE TO BLACK. In 2009, Ford made his film directorial debut with A Single Man, which was based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. The film stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode. The screenplay was adapted by Ford and David Scearce. Ford also produced the film, which premiered on September 11, 2009 at the 66th Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Lion. Colin Firth, who plays the protagonist George, was awarded the Volpi Cup as Best Actor for his performance and was also nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Independent Spirit Award and Screen Actor's Guild award. He won the BAFTA for Best-Actor in a Leading role. Julianne Moore was nominated for Best Supporting actress at the Globes. Tom Ford was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards in 2009 including Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay.

1964 – Stephan Elliott is an Australian film director and screenwriter.
Elliott began his career as an assistant director working in the boom of the Australian film industry of the 1980s.
His feature films, Frauds, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Welcome to Woop Woop were all officially selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival, with "Priscilla" winning the Prix du public as well as an Academy Award for Best Costume Design, among numerous other accolades.
In 2004, Elliott was involved in a skiing accident which saw him hospitalised for several months. He credits the accident with rediscovering his sense of humour. This may go part way to explaining why, in 2007 Elliott worked with Fred Nassiri to create one of the most expensive music videos of all time. Shot in over 15 countries, with seven directors the song "Love Sees No Colour" aspires to spread a message of peace and love.
His latest film Easy Virtue, was written with co-writer Sheridan Jobbins, and is based on the Noël Coward play of the same name. He is currently in the post-production stage of his next film, A Few Best Men starring Xavier Samuel and Olivia Newton-John.
Other writing credits include 'the book' (i.e.: the script) for the stage play of 'Priscilla' which premiered in 2007 at Sydney's Lyric Theatre in Star City to excellent reviews.
Elliott came out as gay during his presentation at the inaugural AACTA Awards in Sydney on 31 January 2012.
"I've been offshore for many, many years for another reason," he said. "Basically it was because I was scared of who I was. I basically was scared that I was gay. Even after Priscilla I stayed offshore basically because I was frightened of my family. And tonight I'm coming out."

this was originally a twitter thread but mehhhh. the audience of one-two here get my insane venting instead. its 3am. I've had a rough day and I just want to list it out from worst to least worst. sorry if this is venting. again 3am. 1: my sister showed up completely unannounced, and waltzed in a fight with my other sister and her husband at their place. she had good reason to be here (she's homeless and is a fuckin ice age here. that's not a problem. we are glad she went to us for help.)-sadly she's an entitled fuck who begged my dad for cigs when we have NOTHING BUT A ROOF to give. its SCARY how poor we are. She was also VERY TRANSPHOBIC, which was not on my sister's bingo card this year. mainly about trans woman and their "complaining". my already shit sister saying terf shit was not smth i thought id hear. i was very upset about that. i haven't talked to her bc ik if i do, il cry but I've been giving her the silent treatment unless it's akward. 2: i have covid. had symptoms since like the 13th (i joked that i got it for my birthday) and its been a nightmare. i can't sleep. Eating sucks. my nose hurts. i think i blew a blood vessel in my eye. its just been the worst. 3: due to being unable to sleep, im wildly manic at 3am. i have nothing to do and no one to talk to. and im unreasonably upset that people on tiktok think Spongebob is a kid. like boi your face screams "post movie" pleaaasseee educate yourself on cartoon history. he is an adult! 4: after ALLL of this like 7 mins ago, the fire alarm randomly beeped a few times. luckily not a lot but still. stressed me the FUCK OUT. nothing is on. i think bc its the FUCKIN ICE AGE OUTSIDE, the apartment is a TAD too warm (witch its not. my feet are frozen)
5: found out today that scientists didn't start using real menstrual blood on pads/tampons till AUGUST OF LAST YEAR??? WTF WERE U USING BEFORE? That's why pads are always off SOMEHOW. SOMEHOW there's an issue. and tampons never fit right. they have been fuckin guessin for decades 6: my new cat is a needy hoe. I'm used to it but with covid and barely being able to walk/exist, her sweving between my legs is a nightmare. I always have to throw a bottle cap down the hallway just so she doesn't get in my room. 7: been on upsetting media tiktok. why the fuck is there a fandom forming around a vent cartoon about S/A???? like I won't say its bad but that's not a FANDOM THING! yall are fucked up (also it parodies the peewee's playhouse op and that bugs me. i love peewee.)
interlude: my needy hoe of a cat is named peewee (well to my mom, it's now Princess Pipsqueak but thats not a good name to say in frustration as I'm trying to exist down the hallway. also, we thought she was a boi at first and she has a face that looks like paul Reubens's. I still see it. 8: I have used up all the TP and tissues in the house and have been using paper towels to blow my nose, which is roughing up my already red sore nose. I put gold bond on my nose and it BURNED but now it feels smoother. 9: i feel like i annoy people with my Hannibal hyperfixation. i have yet to truly let it spread here but it's EVERYWHERE ELSE. (and il probs reblog this onto my hannibal blog so hiiiii) and yet it feels like no one cares. ik it's a bit niche, upsetting not everyones thing but Ive NEVER loved smth more and it hurts when i don't talk about it I just. want to get someone into it. someone else got me into it and it means a lot. I hope they are doing ok. I'm grateful they gave me my favorite hyperfixation ever. I've littrally never loved anything more. and I've been into a LOT of stuff. i was called annoying by an ex friend because i got into things too much. and to them, "too much" was anything that wasn't "i like this thing. i think this thing is good and cool. lets rp weird incest about it." (i hate my teen years) but like. that ex friend would HAAAAATE by hyperfixatiing now. i have friends to ENABLE ME NOW. 10: just added this one. kinda put two and two together that corp vtubers birthdays most likely aren't their real birthdays. everyone is celebrating a graduated corps bday and yet they moved to another company and like. no birthday in sight. and it feels weird to latch onto their old persona's bday when they are right there with probs a new (and more real maybe) birthday. you can actually go celebrate with them whenever their "new" birthday is and yet you are clinging to the past. especially since they are THRIVING where they are rn and were not happy as a bigger corp.
thats a bout it. thanks if u saw this and read. its ok if you didnt. i just had a LOT go on lately.

Pee-wee Meets Hoops and Yoyo (Crossover Fanfic)
Tumblr media
Title: Pee-wee Meets Hoops and Yoyo
Fandoms: Pee-wee's Playhouse, Hoops and Yoyo
Word count: 399
Warning(s): None :)
Summary: Hoops and Yoyo spend a day at Pee-wee’s playhouse.
Author’s Note: Ever since I saw Hoops and Yoyo Ruin Christmas (aka the BEST Hallmark Christmas movie ever made!), I had this in mind that I just couldn't wait to share! And yes, like my other Pee-wee fanfics, this one is dedicated to Paul Reubens (May he rest in peace 💔)
Also, this is the first time I wrote a fanfic that's not an X reader/OC one.
(Yes, I made the picture above)
***
"Good morning, Conky!" Pee-wee cheered as he was getting excited for what was going to happen today. "Do you know what's today's secret word?"
Conky printed out a piece of paper with the secret word on it. "Today's secret word is... Happy!" Pee-wee exclaimed. "And you know what to do when anyone says the secret word, right? Scream real loud!"
He gestured to Chairry, asking her, "Say, Chairry, how are you feeling right now?"
"Well, Pee-wee," Chairry replied, "I'm feeling quite happy."
"AAAAAHH!!!" Everyone in the Playhouse screamed, with Chairry giggling.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Pee-wee answered it to find a pair of anthropomorphic animals, one a pink cat, the other a green bunny.
"OHMIGOSH!" Hoops, the pink cat, cheered. "I can't believe it, Yoyo! We're meeting the Pee-wee Herman!"
"Heck yes!" Yoyo agreed. "Oh, Pee-wee, it's such an honor to meet you! Hoops and I can't help but feel happy!"
"AAAAAH!" Everyone in the Playhouse screamed, much to Hoops and Yoyo's laughter.
"Let me guess," Hoops commented. "We said the secret word, right?"
"Indeed, you did," Pee-wee nodded.
For snack time, Pee-wee asked what Hoops and Yoyo's favorite foods were, to which they both replied "Donuts!"
"Well, today's your lucky day, 'cuz guess what I have in the fridge?" Pee-wee opened the refrigerator door to briefly view the fruits and vegetables performing a circus act, just as he grabbed a pink cardboard box from it and opened it to reveal a variety of delicious donuts.
"Yay!" Hoops and Yoyo simultaneously cheered as they each grabbed a donut from the box and took a bite out of it. "Thanks, Pee-wee!"
Throughout the day, Hoops and Yoyo spent it having a lot of fun with Pee-wee. They watched the cartoon that the King of Cartoons presented, they each took turns sitting on Chairry, and they learned to make pizza, which they all enjoyed. Just as the day was about to come to an end, Pee-wee grabbed his scooter and helmet, saying "Wanna join me?"
"Sure!" Hoops and Yoyo accepted before getting onto the scooter.
"Today was sure a lot of fun," Hoops commented about how today marked one of their best days ever.
"And remember to bring on the happy!" Yoyo said before everyone in the Playhouse screamed.
"Good one, Yoyo!" Hoops exclaimed.
Eventually, Pee-wee took off on his scooter, with Hoops and Yoyo riding along.

Biden’s ‘Final’ Order on Kennedy Files Leaves Some Still Wanting More
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CIA officer named Reuben Efron
Tumblr media
The president has finished a review first mandated by law in 1992, and while a vast majority of papers related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy have been released, some remain redacted.
President John F. Kennedy riding in the back of a car with Jacqueline Kennedy as a crowd of people looks on.
President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy preparing to drive into Dallas from the airport on Nov. 22, 1963.
He was assassinated later that day.
Tumblr media
Peter Baker
Peter Baker, the chief White House correspondent, last wrote about the John F. Kennedy assassination papers during the Trump administration.
On June 22, 1962, an intelligence official drafted a memo summarizing a letter intercepted between Lee Harvey Oswald and his mother.
The memo was made public long ago.
But for 60 years, the name of the letter opener was kept secret.
Now it can finally be told:
According to an unredacted copy of the memo released recently by the government, the official who intercepted Oswald’s mail for the C.I.A. in the months before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated was named Reuben Efron.
And that means — what, exactly?
A tantalizing clue to unraveling a complicated conspiracy that the government has sought to cover up for decades?
Additional proof that the C.I.A. knew more about Oswald than initially acknowledged?
Or a minor detail withheld all this time because of bureaucratic imperatives irrelevant to the question of whether Oswald was the lone gunman on the fateful day?
The mystery of Reuben Efron, who has been dead for three decades, may never be resolved to the satisfaction of some of those dedicated to studying the assassination.
Thirty years after Congress ordered that papers related to the killing be made public with limited exceptions, President Biden has declared that he has made his “final certification” of files to be released, even though 4,684 documents remain withheld in whole or in part.
Going forward, agencies will decide any future disclosures that may be warranted by the passage of time.
The president’s certification, issued at 6:36 p.m. on the Friday before the long Fourth of July holiday weekend, when it would not draw much attention, has frustrated researchers and historians still focused on the most sensational American murder of the 20th century.
But they suffered a setback on Friday when a federal judge refused to block Mr. Biden’s order.
Jefferson Morley, the editor of the blog JFK Facts and the author of several books on the C.I.A., said the belated identification of Efron indicated that intelligence agencies still had something to keep from the American public.

In the weeks following his murder, Hartman was celebrated in a wave of tributes. In 1998, while Hartman was sleeping in his bed, his wife shot and killed him, and later committed suicide. Their marriage was troubled due to Brynn's drug use and domestic violence against Hartman, who was frequently absent from home. Today we remember the passing of Phil Hartman who Died: May 28, 1998 in Los Angeles, California
Philip Edward Hartman (né Hartmann; September 24, 1948 – May 28, 1998) was a Canadian-American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and graphic designer who gained fame in the late 1980s as a long-time performer of the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Hartman was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. His family moved to the United States when he was ten years old. After graduating from California State University, Northridge, with a degree in graphic arts, Hartman designed album covers for bands including Poco and America. In 1975, Hartman joined the comedy group The Groundlings, where he helped Paul Reubens develop his character, Pee-wee Herman. Hartman co-wrote the film Pee-wee's Big Adventure and made recurring appearances as Captain Carl on Reubens's show Pee-wee's Playhouse.
In 1986, Hartman joined SNL, where he won fame for his impressions and stayed for eight seasons until 1994. Nicknamed "Glue" for his ability to hold the show together and help other cast members, Hartman won a Primetime Emmy Award for his SNL work in 1989. In 1995, he later starred as Bill McNeal in the sitcom NewsRadio after declining his return to SNL. He also voiced various characters on The Simpsons, and had minor roles in the films Houseguest, Sgt. Bilko, Jingle All the Way, and Small Soldiers.
Hartman was divorced twice before he married Brynn Omdahl in 1987, with whom he had two children. Their marriage was troubled by Brynn's drug use, domestic violence, and Phil's frequent absence from home. In 1998, while Hartman was sleeping, his wife shot and killed him, and later committed suicide. In the weeks following his murder, Hartman was celebrated in a wave of tributes. Dan Snierson of Entertainment Weekly opined that Hartman was "the last person you'd expect to read about in lurid headlines in your morning paper … a decidedly regular guy, beloved by everyone he worked with". He was posthumously inducted into the Canada and Hollywood Walks of Fame in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

Rigis Philbin, Television Personality and Host, Dies at 88
— BY DAVID BAUDER | July 25, 2020

NEW YORK (AP) — Regis Philbin, the genial host who shared his life with television viewers over morning coffee for decades and helped himself and some fans strike it rich with the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” has died at 88.
Philbin died of natural causes Friday night, just over a month before his 89th birthday, according to a statement from his family provided by spokesman Lewis Kay.
Celebrities routinely stopped by Philbin’s eponymous syndicated morning show, but its heart was in the first 15 minutes, when he and co-host Kathie Lee Gifford — on “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee” from 1985-2000 — or Kelly Ripa — on “Live! with Regis and Kelly” from 2001 until his 2011 retirement — bantered about the events of the day. Viewers laughed at Philbin’s mock indignation over not getting the best seat at a restaurant the night before, or being henpecked by his partner.
“Even I have a little trepidation,” he told The Associated Press in 2008, when asked how he does a show every day. “You wake up in the morning and you say, ‘What did I do last night that I can talk about? What’s new in the paper? How are we gonna fill that 20 minutes?’”
“I’m not gonna say it always works out brilliantly, but somehow we connect more often than we don’t,” he added.
“One of the greats in the history of television, Regis Philbin has passed on to even greater airwaves,” President Donald Trump said in a tweet. “He was a fantastic person, and my friend.”
Ripa and her current partner, Ryan Seacrest, called Philbin “the ultimate class act, bringing his laughter and joy into our homes every day.”
“There are no words to fully express the love I have for my precious friend, Regis,” Gifford said Saturday on Instagram. “I simply adored him and every day with him was a gift.”
The tributes flooding in over social media read like blurbs for a movie Philbin would promote: “Always made me laugh” — Tony Bennett. “One of a kind” — Henry Winkler. “A lovely man” — Rosie O’Donnell. “His wit was only surpassed by his huge heart” — Meredith Vieira. “As wonderful a man as he was talented” — Paul Reubens, also known as Pee-Wee Herman. “You were the best” — LeVar Burton.
Tumblr media
After hustling into an entertainment career by parking cars at a Los Angeles TV station, Philbin logged more than 15,000 hours on the air, earning him recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most broadcast hours logged by a TV personality, a record previously held by Hugh Downs.
“Every day, you see the record shattered, pal!” Philbin would tell viewers. “One more hour!”
He was host of the prime-time game show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” briefly television’s most popular show at the turn of the century. ABC aired the family-friendly program as often as five times a week. It generated around $1 billion in revenue in its first two years — ABC had said it was the more profitable show in TV history — and helped make Philbin himself a millionaire many times over.
Philbin’s question to contestants, “Is that your final answer?” became a national catchphrase. Philbin was even a fashion trendsetter; he put out a line of monochramactic shirts and ties to match what he wore on the set.
“You wait a lifetime for something like that and sometimes it never happens,” Philbin told the AP in 1999.
In 2008, he returned briefly to the quiz show format with “Million Dollar Password.” He also picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award from the daytime Emmys.
He was the type of TV personality easy to make fun of, and easy to love.
When his son Danny first met his future wife, “we were talking about our families,” Danny told USA Today. “I said, ‘You know that show Regis and Kathie Lee?’ And she said, ‘I hate that show.’ And I said, ‘That’s my dad.’”
Yet Philbin was a favorite of a younger generation’s ironic icon, David Letterman. When Letterman announced that he had to undergo heart surgery, it was on the air to Philbin, who was also there for Letterman’s first day back after his recovery.
Letterman returned the favor, appearing on Philbin’s show when he went back on the air in April 2007 after undergoing heart bypass surgery.
In the 2008 AP interview, Philbin said he saw “getting the best out of your guests” as “a specialty. ... The time constraints mean you’ve got to get right to the point, you’ve got to make it pay off, go to commercial, start again. Play that clip. Say goodbye.” He gave his desktop a decisive rap.
“And make it all conversational.”
Regis Francis Xavier Philbin grew up in the New York borough of the Bronx, the son of Italian-Irish parents and named for the Roman Catholic boys high school his dad attended. He went to Notre Dame University, and was such an enthusiastic alum, he once said he wanted his ashes scattered there.
After leaving the Navy in 1955, Philbin talked his way into a meeting with the stationmaster at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles. He got a job parking cars, then progressed into work as a stagehand, courier, newswriter and producer of a sports telecast. When its sportscaster didn’t show up one day, Philbin filled in.
Philbin got far more on-air experience in San Diego in the early 1960s, when KOGO-TV began producing “The Regis Philbin Show” for a national audience. The program of music and celebrity interviews was taped two weeks before each airing. It was canceled after four months.
In 1967, Philbin was hired as the announcer and sidekick to comic Joey Bishop on his network show. When he heard that he was going to be fired because of poor ratings, Philbin tearfully announced he was leaving on July 12, 1968, walking off during a live broadcast. He returned three days later after letters of support poured in.
Tumblr media
He and Bishop had bad blood: Bishop called Philbin an “ingrate” for walking off during a salary dispute and later badmouthing him.
Philbin’s second wife, Joy, was Bishop’s assistant.
After three years of commuting to St. Louis each week for a local Saturday night show, Philbin became a star in local morning television — first in Los Angeles, then in New York. In 1985, he teamed with Kathie Lee Johnson, a year before she married former football star Frank Gifford, and the show went national in 1988.
Philbin’s “sarcastic playfulness” endears him to fans, Good Housekeeping magazine wrote in 2000.
“He’s the little guy protesting the injustices of life, from crime waves to paper cuts,” the magazine wrote. “The ranting is punctuated with Kathie Lee’s familiar cry of ‘Oh, Reege,’ uttered sometimes in sisterly sympathy and sometimes in teacherly admonishment.”
The gentle bickering and eye-rolling exasperation in Philbin and Gifford’s onscreen relationship was familiar to anyone in a long-lasting relationship.
“No arguments, no harsh words in all this time,” Philbin told a theater audience in 2000. “Well, there was the time I didn’t talk to her for two weeks. Didn’t want to interrupt her.”
Gifford left the show in 2000. After a tryout period for a replacement, soap star Ripa (“All My Children”) filled the slot.
The same hustler who parked cars in Hollywood worked just as hard to land the job on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
“I begged my way on,” he told People magazine. “There was a short list, and I wasn’t on it. I called my agent, and we made a full assault on ABC in L.A.”
The audience responded to Philbin’s warm, comic touch in the role. He later jokingly referred to himself as the man who saved ABC. It wasn’t complete hyperbole: ABC was suffering in the ratings before the game became a smash success. Forbes reported that two-thirds of ABC’s operating profit in 2000 was due to “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
Philbin appeared to love every minute of it. Even the ultimate arbiter of hip, the MTV Video Awards, asked him to make an appearance.
“It’s better to be hot,” he told the AP. “It’s fun. I know this business. I was perfectly content with my morning show. People would ask me, ‘What’s next?’ There is nothing next. There are no more mountains for me to climb. Believe me when I tell you, all I wanted when I started this show in 1961 was to be a success nationally.”
The prime-time game burned out quickly because of overuse and ended in 2002.
Philbin enjoyed a side career as a singer that began when he sang “Pennies from Heaven” to Bing Crosby on Bishop’s show. He said a record company called him the next day, and he made an album.
Even though the series “Regis Philbin’s Health Styles,” on Lifetime in the 1980s, was part of his lengthy resume, Philbin had health issues. Doctors performed an angioplasty to relieve a blocked artery in 1993. He underwent bypass surgery in 2007 at age 75.
He’s survived by his wife, Joy, and their daughters J.J. and Joanna Philbin, as well as his daughter Amy Philbin with his first wife, Catherine Faylen, according to People.

American TV host Regis Philbin, who logged more hours in front of the camera than anyone else in the history of US television on shows like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, has died aged 88.
Key Points:
Philbin died of natural causes, according to his family, one month before his 89th birthday
Guinness World Records listed Philbin as having put in about 17,000 hours on television
He was paid $28 million a year in 2000, the most ever for a game-show host
People magazine said Philbin died of natural causes one month before his 89th birthday, citing a statement by his family.
"His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him for his warmth, his legendary sense of humour, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about," the statement said.
"We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss."
Philbin was known for his rough edges, funny anecdotes, self-deprecating humour and a Bronx accent that was once described as sounding "like a racetrack announcer with a head cold."
American comedian and late-night host David Letterman, a long-time friend, called Philbin the funniest man on television.
Philbin, known to fans as "Reeg", was a fixture on various local and national shows for half a century with co-hosts including Kathie Lee Gifford and Kelly Ripa.
He hosted Who Wants to be a Millionaire when it debuted in the US in 1999, as well as other game shows.
His $US20 million ($28 million) a year salary in 2000 was the most ever for a game-show host.
Guinness World Records listed him as having put in more time on camera than anyone else in the history of US television — about 17,000 hours.
Philbin was perhaps best known as the host of the nationally syndicated talk show, Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee. It started in 1988, and became Live! with Regis and Kelly in 2001, running until 2011.

Kelly Ripa Pays Tribute to Regis Philbin After His Death: 'He Was the Ultimate Class Act'
Philbin first made a name for himself in the 1960s with his own show on local TV in San Diego and then as a sidekick to comedian Joey Bishop on another program.
His biggest success came in the various incarnations of his nationally syndicated morning talk show that began in 1983 when he created The Morning Show for WABC in his native New York City.
After two co-hosts came and went, singer Gifford joined him in a highly successful collaboration in 1985, and in 1988 the program gained national syndication.
Gifford was his co-host for 15 years before Philbin was partnered with former soap opera actress Ripa for 11 years. Ripa remained as host of the show after Philbin departed.
"I think he is the world's greatest storyteller … that's his gift," Ripa said in 2011.
In 2001, he won a Daytime Emmy award as outstanding talk show host and claimed another Emmy for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
He also received a lifetime achievement Daytime Emmy award in 2008.
Philbin, who was born into an Irish-Catholic family in New York City, dealt with heart problems during his career and underwent triple-bypass surgery in 2007 at the age of 75.
Philbin married his second wife, Joy, in 1970 and remained married the rest of his life.
She sometimes co-hosted his national talk show with him when Gifford or Ripa were absent.

Van Jones was right when he said we shouldn’t give Trump any press coverage for a week. He would hate it. Trump loves the old adage of bad publicity is better than none because he just must have attention. Well, it is none other than Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court justice Clarence. She calls it the list of snakes. Trump is now saying he even wants liberal judges on the Supreme Court to recuse themselves when it comes to “Trump related cases”. It just keeps getting worse.

Andrew Yang is a new correspondent at CNN. He tells us that he is getting word from former donors that Bloomberg is calling those big donors. Allegedly he is telling them they do not have to donate to his campaign because he can afford his own campaign but he still won’t forget them. He would like them to save their money and not give money to other democrats running either.** And I am so sick of talking heads trying to tell us to play it safe. We are not as stupid as we look, thank you!! ** Now there is a firestorm about Bernie telling the world that the education program that Castro implemented was a good thing. I understand the anger and it could not have come at a worse time and he did it to himself. BUT..  We are adults and we have to be able to talk about things as they really are, not in sound bites. Castro sucked and history teaches us that bad people do good things occasionally and good people do bad things once in a while. ** It seems that everyone was in agreement that we would all gather behind the winner of the democratic campaign to beat Trump. Suddenly when it could be Bernie, everybody is bitching.
*****
This month held 2 more Democratic debates. The Nevada debate got pretty heated. I see that Mayor Pete and Bloomberg are lefties (left handed that is). Pete always looked poised and articulate which I appreciate and he got in a good one when he mentioned that the party should choose someone who is actually a democrat.  Bernie seemed a little rattled by that. Later Pete really dressed down Amy Klobuchar and made himself look like a dick. Joe Biden jumped in with his credits occasionally but often seemed a bit lost. He slammed back that they were all talking about the health care plane he helped to create and that he himself had dealt with the Mexican President. His name came up after it was mentioned that Amy could not remember the President’s name. The gloves were off with Bloomberg as Elizabeth Warren called him out on Billionaires and NDA’s. I loved the interaction but realistically Mr. Mike can’t just release people from agreements they made in an NDA, especially if it did not involve him. Bloomberg sounded pompous and clueless about the world outside of his company. He got a moan when he said he couldn’t exactly use turbo tax and when he said he may have told a few jokes that women didn’t like. He brushed off his taxes much like Trump does. The former mayor of NY called out socialists as communists. Klobuchar had the best comeback of the night when she was told her health care plan could fit on a post it. She proclaimed that the post it was invented in her state of Minnesota. Again, there were people shouting from the audience as Joe tried to talk. C’mon give everybody an equal chance.
*****
The South Carolina debate was fiery as well. The CBS debate was hosted by Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell. Bloomberg was booed right off the bat about Russia helping Bernie but he late had many cheers. He and Biden and Steyer had some real support there. Tom Steyer was actually quite impressive and seemed well spoken.  He was the only one who brought up the impeachment. He had a great point that we all know that republicans who did not convict Trump are complicit in the Russian meddling. Then he ruined it all by being alarmist with his fear. He warned us off the former republican and the socialists. I loved Bernie’s ideas about small business’s getting in on the marijuana business and not letting big corporations taking it over. He is also the only one in debates that I have seen consistently bring up Native Americans.  Biden again kept jumping in to tell us that he did this or that. Amy disagreed about a bill he claimed to have written. Warren said “dig in” numerous times. She went for the jugular with Bloomberg when she said a former female employee of his said to “kill it” in response to her pregnancy. He denied it but it sure is memorable. She did make great points that he has given much money to Linsey Graham’s campaign as well as other republican runs including against her. BTW he also gave 2.3 mil to Rick Snyder, the Gov of Michigan after the water crisis was well known.  I love that Amy is always saying that we shouldn’t fight amongst ourselves but she just does not have the votes so she needs to go. Bernie got some boos about guns for he seems the softest in that area.

ICYMI Last Month —
Tumblr media
By Michael Cavna The Washington Post April 8 2018
FOR MORE than eight decades, Nancy, the bushy-haired, red-bowed comic character, has been rendered by a man. This week, Nancy’s syndicate will change that.
On Monday, Andrews McMeel Syndication will announce that the cartoonist Olivia Jaimes has inherited the iconic strip and will provide a “21st-century female perspective,” says John Glynn, Andrews McMeel’s president and editorial director.
The first strip by Jaimes — the female cartoonist’s “nom de toon” — runs Monday.
“Nancy has been my favorite sassy grouch for a long time,” Jaimes says in a syndicate statement. “I’m excited to be sassy and grouchy through her voice instead of just mine, and I can complain to the whole world about things that bother me instead of just my friends and family.”
Andrews McMeel did not reveal professional details about Jaimes, though Glynn shared that he had seen webcomics by her, was impressed and learned that she was a definite fan of “Nancy.”
“Nancy” is syndicated to about 75 newspaper clients and enjoys a unique fandom with some professional cartoonists, who uphold examples of the strip at midcentury as a pinnacle of formal minimalism. The strip’s cult artistic status is celebrated in the recent book, “How to Draw Nancy: The Elements of Comics in Three Easy Panels,” by Paul Karasik and Mark Newgarden, who are scheduled to appear at New York’s MoCCA Feston Sunday to discuss why “Nancy” matters.
Nancy debuted on the comics page in 1933 in the United Feature strip “Fritzi Ritz,” which was launched in 1922 by creator Larry Whittington. After Nancy appeared as Fritzi Ritz’s niece, the girl’s popularity increased until by 1938, the strip’s title was changed to “Nancy.”
The gag comic was created for more than a half-century by the Eisner Hall of Fame cartoonist Ernie Bushmiller, under whom its client list grew to nearly 900 papers.
After Bushmiller’s death in 1982, the comic was rendered by such cartoonists as Mark Lasky and Reuben Award winner Jerry Scott (“Baby Blues,” “Zits”). Guy Gilchrist drew “Nancy” for more than two decades before ending his tenure this past February.
Jaimes brings a love for the vintage Bushmiller work to her Nancy,” Glynn says, but with a voice that he hopes will resonate today. ✜

to know the real God
and be known by Him, our Father and Creator.
A treasured point Paul makes in his Letter of Galatians with Today’s reading in chapter 4:
Let me show you the implications of this. As long as the heir is a minor, he has no advantage over the slave. Though legally he owns the entire inheritance, he is subject to tutors and administrators until whatever date the father has set for emancipation. That is the way it is with us: When we were minors, we were just like slaves ordered around by simple instructions (the tutors and administrators of this world), with no say in the conduct of our own lives.
But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent his Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that he might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.
Earlier, before you knew God personally, you were enslaved to so-called gods that had nothing of the divine about them. But now that you know the real God—or rather since God knows you—how can you possibly subject yourselves again to those paper tigers? For that is exactly what you do when you are intimidated into scrupulously observing all the traditions, taboos, and superstitions associated with special days and seasons and years. I am afraid that all my hard work among you has gone up in a puff of smoke!
My dear friends, what I would really like you to do is try to put yourselves in my shoes to the same extent that I, when I was with you, put myself in yours. You were very sensitive and kind then. You did not come down on me personally. You were well aware that the reason I ended up preaching to you was that I was physically broken, and so, prevented from continuing my journey, I was forced to stop with you. That is how I came to preach to you.
And don’t you remember that even though taking in a sick guest was most troublesome for you, you chose to treat me as well as you would have treated an angel of God—as well as you would have treated Jesus himself if he had visited you? What has happened to the satisfaction you felt at that time? There were some of you then who, if possible, would have given your very eyes to me—that is how deeply you cared! And now have I suddenly become your enemy simply by telling you the truth? I can’t believe it.
Those heretical teachers go to great lengths to flatter you, but their motives are rotten. They want to shut you out of the free world of God’s grace so that you will always depend on them for approval and direction, making them feel important.
It is a good thing to be ardent in doing good, but not just when I am in your presence. Can’t you continue the same concern for both my person and my message when I am away from you that you had when I was with you? Do you know how I feel right now, and will feel until Christ’s life becomes visible in your lives? Like a mother in the pain of childbirth. Oh, I keep wishing that I was with you. Then I wouldn’t be reduced to this blunt, letter-writing language out of sheer frustration.
Tell me now, you who have become so enamored with the law: Have you paid close attention to that law? Abraham, remember, had two sons: one by the slave woman and one by the free woman. The son of the slave woman was born by human connivance; the son of the free woman was born by God’s promise. This illustrates the very thing we are dealing with now. The two births represent two ways of being in relationship with God. One is from Mount Sinai in Arabia. It corresponds with what is now going on in Jerusalem—a slave life, producing slaves as offspring. This is the way of Hagar. In contrast to that, there is an invisible Jerusalem, a free Jerusalem, and she is our mother—this is the way of Sarah. Remember what Isaiah wrote:
Rejoice, barren woman who bears no children,
shout and cry out, woman who has no birth pangs,
Because the children of the barren woman
now surpass the children of the chosen woman.
Isn’t it clear, friends, that you, like Isaac, are children of promise? In the days of Hagar and Sarah, the child who came from faithless connivance (Ishmael) harassed the child who came—empowered by the Spirit—from the faithful promise (Isaac). Isn’t it clear that the harassment you are now experiencing from the Jerusalem heretics follows that old pattern? There is a Scripture that tells us what to do: “Expel the slave mother with her son, for the slave son will not inherit with the free son.” Isn’t that conclusive? We are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
The Letter of Galatians, Chapter 4 (The Message)
and paired with this is chapter 46 in the book of Genesis where we read of Joseph reuniting with his father Jacob (who was renamed Israel):
So Israel set out on the journey with everything he owned. He arrived at Beersheba and worshiped, offering sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
God spoke to Israel in a vision that night: “Jacob! Jacob!”
“Yes?” he said. “I’m listening.”
God said, “I am the God of your father. Don’t be afraid of going down to Egypt. I’m going to make you a great nation there. I’ll go with you down to Egypt; I’ll also bring you back here. And when you die, Joseph will be with you; with his own hand he’ll close your eyes.”
Then Jacob left Beersheba. Israel’s sons loaded their father and their little ones and their wives on the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him. They arrived in Egypt with the livestock and the wealth they had accumulated in Canaan. Jacob brought everyone in his family with him—sons and grandsons, daughters and granddaughters. Everyone.
These are the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who went to Egypt:
Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.
Reuben’s sons: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
Simeon’s sons: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
Levi’s sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Judah’s sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (Er and Onan had already died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
Issachar’s sons: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
Zebulun’s sons: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
These are the sons that Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram. There was also his daughter Dinah. Altogether, sons and daughters, they numbered thirty-three.
Gad’s sons: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.
Asher’s sons: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beria. Also their sister Serah, and Beriah’s sons, Heber and Malkiel.
These are the children that Zilpah, the maid that Laban gave to his daughter Leah, bore to Jacob—sixteen of them.
The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin. Joseph was the father of two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, from his marriage to Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. They were born to him in Egypt. Benjamin’s sons were Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
These are the children born to Jacob through Rachel—fourteen.
Dan’s son: Hushim.
Naphtali’s sons: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
These are the children born to Jacob through Bilhah, the maid Laban had given to his daughter Rachel—seven.
Summing up, all those who went down to Egypt with Jacob—his own children, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six. Counting in the two sons born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family who ended up in Egypt numbered seventy.
Jacob sent Judah on ahead to get directions to Goshen from Joseph. When they got to Goshen, Joseph gave orders for his chariot and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. The moment Joseph saw him, he threw himself on his neck and wept. He wept a long time.
Israel said to Joseph, “I’m ready to die. I’ve looked into your face—you are indeed alive.”
Joseph then spoke to his brothers and his father’s family. “I’ll go and tell Pharaoh, ‘My brothers and my father’s family, all of whom lived in Canaan, have come to me. The men are shepherds; they’ve always made their living by raising livestock. And they’ve brought their flocks and herds with them, along with everything else they own.’ When Pharaoh calls you in and asks what kind of work you do, tell him, ‘Your servants have always kept livestock for as long as we can remember—we and our parents also.’ That way he’ll let you stay apart in the area of Goshen—for Egyptians look down on anyone who is a shepherd.”

Everybody Loves Raymond: 10 Storylines That Were Never Resolved
For nine critically acclaimed and highly watched seasons, Everybody Loves Raymond was one of the most successful and most beloved sitcoms on television. Chronicling the lives of the larger than life Barone family, and including talented actors like Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts, and Peter Boyle in its truly stacked cast, the series has stood the test of time as one of the best sitcoms of all time.
RELATED: Everybody Loves Raymond: The 10 Worst Things Raymond Has Ever Done
But even the best of sitcoms can't be expected to wrap up every single storyline it starts. That's the very nature of sitcoms, which are far more episodic than hour long dramas are, even if they do have a handful of storylines that continue throughout. Here, we've recapped ten of the storylines and questions the series left hanging, even after nine long seasons.
10 Peter and Peggy's relationship
Tumblr media
Ray and Robert have a fraught relationship for the entire run of the series, despite moments of occasional brotherly love along the way. So it's all too fitting that they find themselves confronted with a shocking reality when their nemeses wind up falling for each other.
Ray's nemesis, the pushy troop leader Peggy, and Robert's nemesis, his brother-in-law Peter, wind up having a lot in common to everyone's clear shock and disbelief, including various nerdy pursuits. They wind up becoming romantically and intimately involved very quickly after meeting, but the series never returns to their relationship after that fact. What happens to these two in the long run?
9 Raymond's career trajectory
Tumblr media
For the entire series' run, barring some key flashback episodes, Ray Barone is a sportswriter for the newspaper New York Newsday. At one point in the series, however, Raymond tries to apply for the position of editor at the paper, but he is ultimately rejected, despite applying twice for the position when it opened.
By the time the series ends, Ray is still working as a columnist for the newspaper. But what does the future hold for Ray, especially as the world moves toward an increasingly digital news landscape? Ray at least has the benefit of working from home, which could translate well toward writing in the digital world.
8 Nemo's (or Marco's)
Tumblr media
In the early years of Everybody Loves Raymond, the pizzeria Nemo's was a main fixture. Regularly frequented by the Barone family, and also used as a hangout for Ray and his friends Gianni, Andy, and Bernie. Nemo was also a recurring character, and the guys all played for his basketball team, too.
RELATED: The 5 Best & Worst Episodes Of Everybody Loves Raymond (According To IMDb)
In a later season, the restaurant was bought out by the wealthy but intimidating Marco Fogagnolo, the father of Robert's ex-girlfriend, Stefania. Over time, the Barones and friends spent less time at the restaurant, but it still occasionally featured in episodes when Ray would go to pick up food for dinner. But what ever happened to the restaurant formerly known as Nemo's? Does Marco still own it? Or did he intimidate all of Nemo's former clients away?
7 Warren and Lois's relationship
Tumblr media
One of the great ironies in the series came in the form of the fact that, despite the many clear problems in Frank and Marie Barone's marriage, they weren't the married couple who wound up divorcing. In fact, it was Debra's parents, the elite Warren and Lois Whalen, who wound up divorcing, much to Debra's disappointment and surprise.
Later in the series, however, Debra was given hope of her parents reuniting after Raymond unfortunately witnessed the two of them sleeping together on one occasion when the Whalens were staying at the Barone family home. However, they made it clear that they were just having fun, and not actually reuniting. But what happened after the series ended?
6 Robert's career trajectory
Tumblr media
For the entire series, Robert Barone is a dedicated member of the NYPD. He undergoes plenty of ups and downs, including shocking injuries on the job, an eventual promotion, and a brief consideration of switching career paths to the FBI. But toward the end of the series, Robert considers a radically different career path: a security system salesman.
In the end, Robert decides to stick with working on the force, much to his mother, Marie's, incredible disappointment and hurt, as she had hoped he would retire soon. So what does Robert wind up doing for the rest of his working days? Does he continue working in active duty, or take a desk job?
5 What happened to Shamsky?
Tumblr media
As the often ignored and slighted older brother, Robert Barone is always looking for love in almost always the wrong places. But one of the few sources of true love he finds is in the form of his adorable dog, Shamsky, who the Barones take in after Raymond is followed home by the chubby little bulldog.
RELATED: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Everybody Loves Raymond
Right away, Robert falls in love with him, after having had a dog named Shamsky just like him when he was a child, named after his idol, Mets player Art Shamsky. For a few seasons, Shamsky #2 is a key figure in Robert's life. But all of a sudden, he disappears without explanation. Where did he go?
4 What happened to Russell MacDougall?
Tumblr media
Amy MacDougall was a key player in the series almost from the very beginning, and eventually, she would go on to join the Barone family when she and Robert finally got married after years and years of back and forth, on again and off again dating. Early in the series, the world of the MacDougall family was expanded with the introduction of Amy's geeky, comic book store owning brother, Russell.
Russell was portrayed by Paul Reubens, better known to audiences as the man behind Pee Wee Herman. But after his single appearance in the episode "Hackidu," Russell disappeared without a trace, replaced with Chris Elliott's Peter, who also owned a comic book store and was even more quirky. Does Russell still exist somewhere? Or was he just simply replaced in some behind the scenes casting changes?
3 What will happen to the Barones' living arrangements?
Tumblr media
What makes Everybody Loves Raymond work, besides the strength of the series' cast, is the close quarters in which the larger than life and riotously ethnic Barone family live. With Ray and Debra across the street from Frank and Marie, and Robert and Amy now living in the same house as Frank and Marie, the series ends with more Barones in less square mileage than ever before.
But what will the future look like for these living situations? Will Robert and Amy ever move out? Will Marie really move in with Ray and Debra if Frank dies first, as discussed in the episode "Golf for It"? And will any of Ray and Debra's kids ever be able to move out when they're old enough?
2 Amy and Robert's family future
Tumblr media
It's an uncomfortable storyline, when Robert and Amy realize they're getting preferential treatment from Marie just because she wants them to hurry up and have children already. But after that awkward episode, the subject of children and family never comes up between the newly married couple again.
So we can't help but wonder: are these two destined for family? As long as they're living under Marie's roof, it's practically unthinkable to imagine they would ever be able to avoid this subject. But Robert and Amy were both much older when they got married than Ray and Debra were, which would undoubtedly affect their thoughts on the matter - and their timetable, too.
1 Debra and Marie's relationship
Tumblr media
One of the key relationships in the series is also arguably the most contentious for the show's entire duration. The relationship between mother-in-law Marie Barone and daughter-in-law Debra Barone is frosty from start to finish, as the two women are almost constantly at war when it comes to all things Raymond, childrearing, cooking, cleaning, and more.
How much longer could this kind of toxic environment last? The series finale shows a brief moment of connection between the two women, following Raymond's surgery. But is that really enough to thaw the ice between them for good? We're not so sure.

0032 - 0111: A long list to catch up on, by various authors!
What on earth has Reuben been doing since November 2016, when Mum last found the time to keep track of his reading list?!
Only bottom shuffling, enjoying his first Christmas, holidaying, picnicking the (southern hemisphere) summer away, turning one, eating up a storm, changing napping schedules frequently, finally learning to sleep through the night, talking, zooming through the last of the firsts, and suddenly encountering the first of the lasts. Last breastfeed, last bottle, last tiny size 0 outfit. Our baby isn’t a baby anymore.
And our baby loves to read. At fifteen months he now recognises that letters are letters - he points at them and makes “aa, oh, eh” sounds, in imitation of us sounding them out to him. He can be trusted to pore through paper books on his own (usually) without ripping them, and he does so with gusto. Dad and Mum watch proudly as Reuben sits in his “reading corner”, next to his tiny bookshelf filled to the brim with colourful tomes, and amuses himself, lost in the pages. Then he’ll select one he wants read to him, and he bum-scoots over to crawl into a lap and listen intently.
