"One last adventure..."
As someone who loved Minecraft Story Mode, Ivor was one of my favorite characters because of his humor and personality. Even if I retired as a fan artist in the fandom three years ago, I just want to draw Ivor one last time in Paul Reubens' honor.
Rest in Peace, Paul Reubens. Thank you for sharing your voice...

It's impossible to explain how the character of Pee-wee Herman has made a difference in my life, but here's how it all started. When my family was living in Tokyo in the 80’s, my Grandmother would send us VHS tapes that she recorded full of Saturday morning shows, tv movies, and all the latest content! Even though we were fascinated by local tv characters, our Japanese wasn't good enough to understand all of it. Grammy’s tapes were everything! She included all the best shows & commercials and made sure we didn’t miss out on pop culture for the fours years we lived overseas.
I’ve always loved making things and couldn’t get enough of Pee-wee’s silly charm and creativity. I was an instant fan! I wanted to jump into our magic screen and hang out at the Playhouse and make ice cream soup with him.
During our international school’s annual ski trip, we brought one of our beloved VHS tapes and played it as entertainment after dinner. I remember this night and the Pee-wee giant underwear episode so clearly! All of our classmates, parents, and teachers were laughing and everyone really enjoyed Pee-wee! He has a pure silliness that brings you to the perfect belly laugh no matter what your age. I really love that about his work! I remember Pee-wee reading fan mail from kids all over the world on his show the first season and I enjoyed when he mentioned places I had been or wanted to go! Pee-wee made it cool to be different and curious, and have all kinds of friends. He's absolutely one-of-a-kind and I’m so glad I got to grow up when and where I did and for my introduction to Pee-wee’s world at such a young age! It made a difference. 🎀✨

Actor Paul Reubens, best known for playing Pee-wee Herman, has died at the age of 70 after a private battle with cancer. Reubens created the Pee-wee Herman character in 1978, and it became a cultural phenomenon, bringing out the kid in everyone.
On TMZ Live, actress E.G. Daily, who played Dottie in "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," said that Reubens was an incredibly thoughtful soul, and there was a great distinction between Pee-wee and the man himself. Reubens issued a posthumous apology on his Instagram for not publicly addressing his health struggles.

Paul Reubens, 1952-2023
The secret word for today is SAD. I wasn’t expecting to wake up on an otherwise unremarkable Monday morning and be upset about the loss of Paul Reubens, who portrayed that guiding light of oddball children and a particular world of wondrously eccentric humor, Pee Wee Herman. Back before iPads or cell phones, a lot of a kid’s weekly excitement centered around shows they’d watch on Saturday mornings. Mom might go to Jim’s Bakery on Morro Bay Blvd. to pick up donuts for them to graze on (which didn’t help later in life) while enjoying the likes of The Smurfs, He-Man, Scooby Doo, Inspector Gadget, Transformers and G.I. Joe. Eventually, an idiosyncratic, rebellious character burst onto the scene, with a distinctive style of dress and a view of the world that embraced the kaleidoscopic weirdness and wide-eyed sense of humor unique to childhood.
With “Pee Wee’s Playhouse,” Reubens became the outsider’s Mister Rogers, coating life lessons and a respect for generosity and tolerance in a candy-colored frosting that was both nourishing and like riding a humungoid sugar buzz. You were never lonely in the company of Pee Wee or his merry band of larger-than-life friends, but filled with a passion for learning, creativity, and self-expression that manifested itself as you grew up and found your place in the world. You were momentarily excused from the anxieties of childhood and given permission to reach into your creative spirit to find whatever means would help you understand a life that so often defies comprehension.
Reubens later became one of the most unusual movie stars with the creation of the unimpeachable classic “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.” Written with Phil Hartman (RIP), Reubens crafted what remains one of the most inventive, sweet, and joyful films to come out of a decade rotten with greed and moral collapse. He tapped a shy, mumbling animator with two brilliant short films under his belt to debut as a director, and in turn gave the world the brilliantly distinctive vision of Burbank’s own Tim Burton. I suspect Reuben’s gift to the world he leaves behind will take years to calculate, especially for those of us reared in the warmth of his imagination.

Paul Reubens, the voice of RX-24, aka Rex has passed away age 70. He brought Rex to life for the original Star Tours, and then once again when Rex moved from the StarSpeeder 3000 to Oga's Cantina when he became DJ-R3X, the house DJ. To the wider world Reubens was better known as the eternal child Pee-wee Herman, a character he played on stage, TV and film for over 40 years. https://youtu.be/bJqCYMl_goU He became famous for playing an adult with a childlike spirit, and his love for acting began at a young age. He first hit the stage in the sixth grade, where he played Nick Burns in A Thousand Clowns at the Players Theatre in New York. He returned to the Players in junior high, where he appeared in The Riot Act, Camelot, and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. The acting bug continued in high school, where he was president of the drama club and starred in numerous roles. He went on to attend Boston University for a year as a theatre major, before he moved to L.A. to enroll in the acting program at California Institute of the Arts. It was in in Los Angeles where he developed Pee-wee Herman. Following college, he joined famed improv group The Groundlings, where he debuted the character at its theater in 1981 for five months. In the mid-1990s, he made a brief comeback with appearances out of character in films like Matilda and Mystery Men, most of which were small roles where he was simply credited as Paul Reubens. Though he received critical acclaim in the 1999 Johnny Depp movie Blow, he did not return to appearing as the character he made famous until his stage show in 2009. “It was a show that assumed its viewers were very young but very smart. It never seemed like a kid’s show if you actually were a kid. Does that make sense?,” Reubens said. “We weren’t under the auspices of something like the Children’s Television Workshop, where a certain part of the content has to be educational, I’m guessing. We tried to disguise anything that might seem overtly like a lesson or a lecture, but we still got some important points across. It’s tough to make a kid’s show; it’s even tougher to make a kid’s show that real kids like. And I take great pride in the fact that that’s what we did.” [amazon box="0593597915"]

💝Throughout February, I’ll be posting 28 unforgettable outfits from film and television that I love. I even made an original logo for this series! My eighth FebruWEARy pick: Pee-wee Herman’s signature suit always brings a smile to my face. On most people, this would feel like just a boring gray suit, but Paul Reubens effectively uses it as a canvas to bring this iconic character to life. It’s almost as if this suit is a character itself. That small pop of red from the bow tie helps bring out that eccentric personality. Legend has it that this is a custom made suit first owned by then Groundlings Theater director Gary Austin. Reubens borrowed it for the original stage show and the rest was history. Coincidentally, I think this suit is a brilliant choice for the character— and it almost feels as if it was purposely designed just for him. Isn’t it hard to image Pee-wee’s costume looking like anything other than his Malibu Imperial suit? Since it’s from the 1960s, it already had a classic, vintage feel by the time he started wearing it. In addition, 1980s fashion was all about thinking big. It was on trend to go over the top with oversized silhouettes, accessories, and shoulder pads. The decade also embraced bight colors and bold combinations. @peeweeherman ‘s look definitely stood out with its slim, cropped cut and the black and white palette of its glen plaid. Dressing him out of trend was genius. And against the whimsical colors of the world of the Playhouse, I think his suit is a great contrast to it in color. This suit, like Pee-wee himself, is a timeless classic.💘 #februweary #fashion #puns #myart #peewee #peeweeherman #peeweesplayhouse #peeweesbigadventure #paulreubens https://www.instagram.com/p/Co0iPNcPPXw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 45: The Nightmare Before Christmas 🦌 Two of the films that had some of the most profound effect on a young me both came out in 1993. The first was Jurassic Park, the other was The Nightmare Before Christmas. Both were theater experiences unlike any other I had encountered, and transported me in ways I hadn't realized movies could do. Tim Burton's masterpiece (even though he didn't direct it) perfectly combined darkness and silliness, fantasy and grim yet light comedy, and my two favorite holidays. It introduced to an artistic and cinematic style, as well as an aesthetic that I didn't know existed, nor that I had apparently been looking for it. And it did this all in the form of breathtaking stop-motion (which I'd previously thought corny), and a musical (which I accepted without hesitation, even at a time when I believed "I don't like musicals!" which proved hilariously inaccurate regardless). Every chance I've had to see it in theaters again, I've taken, and I watch it every year, sometimes twice, and still enjoy it every time. 🌲 ❄️ 🎄 🎅 #TheNightmareBeforeChristmas #1993 (#TimBurtonsTheNightmareBeforeChristmas ) #TimBurton #DannyElfman #CatherineOHara #ChrisSarandon #KenPage #WilliamHickey #GlennShadix #PaulReubens #HalloweenAndChristmas #HenrySelick #BluChristmasHolidayMovieAsplosion2022 #iLoveMovies #christmasmovies #holidaymovies #xmas #christmasspecials #holidayfilms #holidays #movies #christmas #iLoveChristmas #blurays #bluray #MovieNerd #abluchristmas #christmasfilms #christmasmoviemarathon . https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm7LKZAP4_ZOggCSrWNviK72UH2B0BCBmRDqDI0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
