UK Rock Superstars Tournament Participants!!!!
We have a remarkable 244 entries into the UK Rock Superstars Tournament. They will be sorted into 61 groups of 4 for the tournament to begin on Monday, May 22nd. Based on the number of nominations and other popularity factors I've sorted the entries into four pots. I will create the groups by randomly selecting one rock act from each pot for each group.
The names of all the participants are below the cut. If you find that there's a GRIEVOUS omission of a great UK rock band or solo artist, please notify me by the end of the day Friday. After that, the participants list will be final.

Guest host Ralph Miller III, who worked behind the scenes on Dream Warriors provides insights and many effects development photos that are shown in the YouTube version of the podcast. Post-recording, the crew wants to clarify that Kevin Yagher was responsible for the Freddy Snake, and Mark Shostrom was in charge of the Penelope Sudrow dummy that smashes into the Freddyvision TV.
With the success of A Nightmare on  Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), following the critical failure of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985), New line Cinema firmly cemented Freddy Krueger and A Nightmare on Elm Street as one of the most iconic horror franchises of its time. Not only does Dream Warriors feature Robert Englund continuing to breathe both humor and fear into Freddy Krueger but also the return of both Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon from the original. The film also features Craig Wasson (Ghost Story) as the male lead and early film roles for Patricia Arquette and Larry Fishburne. Frank Darabont (The Mist) and Bruce Wagner join Wes Craven on scripting chores and Chuck Russell (The Blob, The Mask) directs while Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) provides the score – a winning combination of talent. Surely a Grue-Crew highly recommended selection with special effects by Greg Cannom, Doug Beswick, Mark Shostrom, Kevin Yagher, and more!
Be sure to check out the first time the 80s Grue-Crew took a dive into this film in February 2017, featuring Doc Rotten, Christopher G. Moore, and Thomas Mariani as the Grue-Crew. You can find it here: A NIGHTMARE ON ELMS STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS (1987) — Episode 102
Every two weeks, Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1980s podcast will cover another horror film from the 1980s. The next episode’s film, chosen by Jeff, will be The Changeling (1980), starring George C. Scott, Trish Van Devere, Melvyn Douglas, . . . and a bouncing, red, rubber ball.

Die drei ??? und die flüsternden Puppen (180)
Hörspiel von André Minninger nach der Buchvorlage von André Minninger Regie: Heikedine Körting erschienen am 04.03.2016 bei EUROPA Laufzeit: 78 Minuten Coverillustration: Silvia Christoph
Tumblr media
Michael sagt, er habe gemeinsam mit Bianca das ganze Lied "In the Middle of the Night" angehört.
Bitte folgt mir, Santa Monica Motel Zimmer 10, Bianca"
Peters Auto funktioniert wieder.

Pod-Alization: Season 2 of Case 63 Fiction Podcast Premieres; Yeah, I F***ed That Up First Season Finale
Tumblr media
Case 63 returns for Season Two
Audio Fiction was a latecomer to podcasting but began to gain momentum in the last two years. Batman Unburied on Spotify was a critical and ratings winner. Spotify's Case 63 was another audio fiction winner. Spotify’s Case 63 has returned for its highly anticipated second season. The series stars Academy Award winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice, Boogie Nights, Far from Heaven) as Eliza Beatrix Knight and Emmy Award nominee Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight, Scenes from a Marriage, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Dr. Vincent Caldwell. Season Two of Case 63 transports us back to 2012 where Eliza Beatrix Knight (Moore) wakes confused and naked in a bathroom at JFK airport, having failed her mission. Taken to a hospital, she is treated by Dr. Vincent Caldwell (Isaac) - a resident psychiatrist with a familiar voice. Beatrix is now Case 63. With the future of humanity ever more at risk, Beatrix and Vincent must race to unravel the past to save an uncertain future. Joining Moore and Isaac this season are Zoë Winters (Succession) who voices Marie Baker and Emmy and Tony nominee Arian Moayad (Succession, Inventing Anna) as Oliver Collins. All 10 episodes of Season Two are now available for listeners to binge on Spotify HERE or wherever you get your podcasts. Last year's premiere season of Case 63 marked the first time a Spotify Original podcast from a non-English speaking market had been adapted into multiple languages. The series also became the most streamed scripted podcast in the world. You can catch up on season one here.
Yeah, I F***ed That Up season finale with Peter Asher
This week’s season finale episode of Interval Presents’ ‘Yeah, I F***ed That Up,’ with record producer and manager Peter Asher just dropped!
Baby boomers will remember Asher as one half of the 60s singing duo, Peter & Gordon, who had several top ten hits on the charts, including A World Without Love.
In today’s episode, host Billy Mann is joined by Peter Asher as they discuss the highs, the lows, and the just plain surreal through his evolving career as one of the most influential music executives, producers, and managers in modern music history. Asher has worked with a multitude of artists and clients throughout his career including The Beatles, Cher, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Robin Williams, and more. Check out a clip from the episode HERE.
Guests and topics from this season included singer and actress Kelly Rowland on her music career, balancing act with actress and singer Renée Elise Goldsberry, legendary music executive L.A. Reid on the night that changed his career, self-sabotage with actress Liz Gillies, musical duo Aly & AJ on child stardom, actor Evan Handler on his biggest career moments, and more. All episodes from the season are available on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Episode Highlights:
●      6:50 - Billy asks Peter how making mistakes or failures worked in his family when he was a kid.
●      8:45 - Peter shares when he knew he wanted to become a record producer. “Becoming a record producer was something I knew I wanted to do the very first day I was in the studio as an artist.”

●      11:37 - Peter talks about the hardest record he’s made.

●      21:00 - Peter talks about the talented female artists he’s been able to work with.
●      25:52 - Peter shares the importance of always listening to the artist.
○      Peter Asher - “If I’ve learned anything useful, it is above all, to listen to the artist and to make sure their ideas are part of the mixture, and I wouldn’t want to fail in that regard.”
●      26:05 - Billy asks Peter about the myth around him contributing to The Beatles breaking up.
●      31:40 - Peter talks about his relationship with Robin Williams.
●      33:45 - Peter shares what his advice would be for young managers and people in the business.“It would be don’t lie to the artist. When you do make it, don’t be horrible to everyone ‘cause there’s no reason to be. Be sympathetic, be understanding. Be smart, think before you speak. I don’t know, they’d be things like that, not specific show business things.”

Liverpool: Ground Zero of the British invasion
We are now within a few months of the 60th anniversary of the Beatles initial arrival in America and the subsequent “invasion” of British groups taking over the pop charts. For most Americans today it is hard to understand just how seismic the change in musical tastes was. In a few months we went from hits like “Rhythm of the Rain” by the Cascades and “He’s So Fine” by the Chiffons in 1963, to a 1964 pop scene led by British groups.
Beginning in 1964 the Beatles and other British groups dominated American pop music. The Beatles led the way in February with “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” followed in March by “She Loves You” and “Please Please Me.” Then the Dave Clark Five arrived with “Glad All Over” in April and “Bits and Pieces” in May. In June, Peter and Gordon went to number one with “A World Without Love” and Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas had a hit with “Little Children.” In July, Gerry and the Pacemakers had a hit with “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying.” In August, Dusty Springfield topped the charts with “Wishin’ and Hopin’.” In September, the Animals arrived with “House of the Rising Sun.” In October it was Manfred Mann and their hit “Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” and Chad and Jeremy with “A Summer Song.” In November the Zombies continued the invasion with “She’s Not There.” And to close out the year, the Rolling Stones had their first American hit in December with “Time is on My Side.” Please keep in mind that while this was going on, the Beatles had hit after hit with a total of 10 top 10 songs in 1964. There were several months when a majority of the songs in the top 10 were by British artists. That’s why it is no exaggeration to say that there was pop music before the Beatles and an entirely different, mostly British-accented sound after the Beatles. Because of the phenomenal success of the Beatles, it was natural for record companies to rush to Liverpool to seek out other talented musicians. There, along the banks of the River Mersey they found groups such as the Searchers, the Fourmost, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas and Gerry and the Pacemakers. The last of these is probably the most associated with Liverpool because of their hit “Ferry Cross the Mersey,” whose chorus said: So ferry 'cross the Mersey Cause this land's the place I love And here I'll stay Gerry Marsden formed the group in 1956 with his older brother Fred Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Arthur McMahon. They shared a pedigree with the Beatles not only because of their Liverpool connection, but also because they were managed by Brian Epstein and produced by George Martin. The group began as Gerry Marsden and the Mars Bars, but the makers of Mars Bars complained and so the group became Gerry and the Pacemakers. Their first big hit in the United States was “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying,” a song written by Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick and Les Maguire and produced by George Martin. It’s a beautiful ballad with its poetic lyrics quite a cut above the standard fare in 1964:
Don't let the sun catch you cryin' The night's the time for all your tears Your heart may be broken tonight But tomorrow in the morning light Don't let the sun catch you cryin'
The night-time shadows disappear And with them go all your tears For the morning will bring joy For every girl and boy So don't let the sun catch you cryin'
We know that cryin's not a bad thing But stop your cryin' when the birds sing
It may be hard to discover That you've been left for another But don't forget that love's a game And it can always come again Oh don't let the sun catch you cryin' Don't let the sun catch you cryin', oh no, Oh, oh, oh
This wonderful song has been covered by many artists. I especially recommend that you check out the versions by Jose Feliciano and Gloria Estefan. Sadly, Gerry and the Pacemakers disbanded in 1966, but Gerry Marsden re-formed the group in 1972 and played with them until 2018. Marsden died in 2021, and the group goes on as Gerry’s Pacemakers. The music of Gerry and the Pacemakers is reminiscent of a time when America looked to Liverpool for its music. It was a special time when British groups brought a sound that resonated with a generation of Baby Boomers. And nowhere was the sound purer than in a small city on the Mersey River.
Tumblr media
Liverpool and its Mersey River was home to many great groups besides the Beatles.
