French Open 2023: Djokovic Dominates Before Norrie and Alcaraz Take the Court, Sabalenka Triumphs While Pegula Falls - Live Updates #French Open 2023: Djokovic Dominates Before Norrie and Alcaraz Take the Court, Sabalenka Triumphs While Pegula Falls - Live Updates# Introduction The French Open 2023 has already kicked off with some exciting matches on Day 2. The reigning champion, Novak Djokovic, started his title defense with a bang and dominated his first-round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime. While other stars like Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal will be taking the court later on, the focus was on the matches that took place during the morning session. In this article, we will take a closer look at the matches that unfolded and provide live updates on the matches that are currently being played. French Open 2023: Djokovic Dominates Before Norrie and Alcaraz Take the Court Novak Djokovic looked every bit the favorite to lift the trophy once again as he breezed past Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The scoreline of 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 doesn't truly reflect the Serbian's dominance as he never let his opponent get into the match. The world number one was in complete control and didn't face a single break point throughout the entire match. Djokovic's consistency and precision were on full display, and it will take something special to stop him from claiming his 22nd Grand Slam title. British number one, Cameron Norrie, and rising Spanish star, Carlos Alcaraz, will be taking the court later on, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against their opponents. Norrie will be facing the experienced German, Philipp Kohlschreiber, while Alcaraz will be up against the talented American, Reilly Opelka. Both matches promise to be fiercely contested, and we will keep you updated on all the action. Sabalenka Triumphs While Pegula Falls In the women's draw, second seed Aryna Sabalenka got off to a solid start, defeating the Romanian, Irina Bara, in straight sets. Sabalenka had her serve working well and hit 12 aces in the match. She will be looking to build on this performance and make a deep run in the tournament. On the other hand, the tough-luck story of the day belonged to American Jessica Pegula, who fell to Jeremy Chardy in a five-set thriller. Pegula had come into the tournament in good form, having reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier this year. However, it wasn't meant to be for her as Chardy produced some excellent tennis to come back from two sets down and secure the victory. Live Updates As of now, several matches are currently being played, and we will provide live updates on these matches. In the women's draw, seventh seed Bianca Andreescu is facing off against the Frenchwoman, Caroline Garcia. Meanwhile, in the men's draw, World number six Stefanos Tsitsipas is playing against Noah Rubin of the United States. FAQs Q. Who won the French Open in 2022? A. Novak beat Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 7-5 7-3 and reached the second round of Wimbledon.
Novak: “It felt great to return to Centre Court. It’s a sacred court, the cradle of our sport for sure, it has a very special place in my heart. The first opening rounds are always tricky, especially if you get a quality opponent like Kohlschreiber, who has a lot of experience and beat me earlier this year. I know he is capable of playing some good quality tennis – especially on grass. It was a great test for me. I did win in straight sets, but they were all really close.”

ATP 500 Gerry Weber Open, Halle - 21 June 2018 - R2 - Matthew Ebden (AUS/SE) def. Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER/6) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2
Rough start for Ebden who had a pretty good run recently on grass in Den Bosch. Kohlschreiber was solid in the first set and took an early break. In the second set, Philipp somehow completely lost it, producing many unforced errors. Matthew picked up speed, served well and had some good attacking points from the baseline and net. He took the second set 6-1 in less than half an hour and never looked back, comfortably winning the final set 6-2.

Novak beat Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 4-6 6-4 and reached the third round of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters on Tuesday.
Novak: “I had ups and downs and in a way felt a bit rusty on the court. I had a tough opponent, of course. Philipp beat me in Indian Wells. It was a match that happened less than a month ago, so of course it was in the back of my mind a bit. I thought I should have maybe stepped in and played a bit more aggressive in the second set, but credit to him for mixing up the pace and playing well. I’ll take this win. Hopefully I can play slightly better in the next round, because if I want to go deep in the tournament, I definitely have to up my game.”

Roger Federer crushed Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4 6-2 7-5 to ease into the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open and remain on a collision course for a semi-final showdown with Rafa Nadal. The elegant Swiss maestro and the muscular Spaniard have played for titles on French Open clay, Wimbledon’s manicured lawns and in Australian heat and while no trophy would be on the line, a New York meeting would still have the Big Apple buzzing.
