Riffing on this. Pretty common pattern - I'd be interested in the first appearance - but always fun to play with.
Play in GeoGebra.

Charlotte, & Peter Fiell. (2007) Contemporary Graphic Design [Book]. Zak Kyes. (2006). AA Term [Poster]. Jürg Lehni, & in collaboration Philippe Decrauzat. (2006). Afternow [Poster]. Retrieved from Contemporary Graphic Design.
AA Term:
Colour - I think the colours used are very cohesive and work well together to enhance the poster with the text. Also helps to create negative space.
Layering - I'm not sure if it would count as layering but I like the use of text with in text to create sort of layering??? I think that with the colour palette and the use of text with in text there is a very unified and unique poster design.
Afternow:
I like the use of lines to create 3D text as well as the B&W, it's a very simple and minimal.
Its very creative and I just love the whole idea of the design and how form was created using lines and colour.
The designers use of line and colour to create 3D form helps to bring viewer focus to the centre of the design (the text) and the design also makes me think of like cyber punk.

DECRAUZAT, PHILIPPE
