Can we see mechis full base please?
You most certainly can! Mechi put so much effort into it (or rather, Wire and Megabyte the constructoids have) that it would be a shame not to show it off.
Behold, the colony tour of Sparks!
Here's a quick overview of the whole base as it stands currently. Nice and simple with room for one colonist and nobody else.
(putting the rest under here so it's not clogging up people's dash)
Here's the Void Monolith, well-lit and surrounded by chain link fences... Just in case.
We have a cemetery outside the main wall, which came from a prefab that some traders sold us. Mechi added the flowers and grass, just as a show of respect for the dead. He doesn't hate dead people as much as everyone else, I assume, since they don't try to talk to him.
There's our containment facility with platforms for Ms Clarabelle the sightstealer, Susskind the ghoul, and Kitschy Flamingo the fingerspike. They are very well-behaved, and Mechi seems to enjoy studying them.
To the right is the hospital, with one bed, because only one person will ever need to use it (that's Mechi). Anyone else can make do with the "guest room," which we'll get to in a bit.
At the back of the hospital is the shelter where Cowgirl and Georgia, our tw wildebeest, sleep at night.
On the other side of the containment facility is our lovely picnic area and fountain, next to the psychic ritual spot in a suitably spooky countryside hedge-box.
Then we have a killbox, which has only recently been constructed. It seems to work well enough so far, but it hasn't really seen much action. I suppose we'll find out in time, though.
We have a power grid of solar panels and wind turbines overlooking our farm, with lots of nice plants to keep us sustained. The farm is tended by Astro, Mechi's agrihand mech.
Mechi likes sitting on the verandah to drink coffee sometimes, but it's nothing too fancy. We have a ground-penetrating scanner set up, but not much time to actually scan for stuff. I think we've found a fossil deposit since we set it up, but that's all.
The kitchen/dining in Sparks is pretty barebones. The most important part is the coffee machine, everything else is just sort of there.
Mechi has a lovely bedroom and a private bathroom, with a comfy cat tree for Charlotte and plenty of things to keep him entertained when he's not researching.
There's a crowded storeroom beside Mechi's bedroom, and outside is the stonecutting bench and the spot where Butter the boomalope sleeps alongside Belle and Mariana the sheep.
Mechi's research lab/robotics workshop/library is full of things to look at and workbenches to play with. It's his most-frequented room in the colony, I think.
The "guest room" we mentioned earlier, which has stuff needed for people to survive comfortably as long as they get frequent deliveries of nutrient paste. The top half of the room will eventually be home to our ripscanners and the like once we've defeated enough mech bosses to get to that stage.
And finally, the "temple", which is just a hastily cobbled room to make Mechi stop griping that he didn't have one. He's got a neural supercharger (which he uses every day) and a biosculptor pod (which he never uses) and that seems to have appeased him for now.
And there you have it! The colony at Sparks, home to one snappy mechanitor, a lot of robots, and the few pets that are allowed to stay without being shipped off to Arwell the first chance we get 😁
#rimworld#gracie plays#rimworld colony tour#A Mechanitor's Message#Mechi is useless at art but still insists on painting everything blue and white#just because it looks cool#It's not a huge or super fancy colony by any means#but it suits Mechi's needs and that's what counts#he likes it well enough anyway#thanks for the ask!!#Have a super-duper day!! <3 <3 <3

soft fic prompts 10 or 18 for a pairing of your choice? :3c
How about some FShali? I woke up feeling soft about Tali, so that's where we're at. I chose walking home.
Here's one of the songs I listened to while writing.
"You know, it would be much easier to take the taxi," Tali mused as she watched Jane pull a set of walking poles from her luggage. "It is a little unusual to send you things alone in an automated skycar."
Jane rolled her shoulders and her neck, bracing one hand against the car as the door hissed close. "I've been couped up in a passenger ship, if I don't stretch my legs, they'll get stuck this stiff. Besides, I want to see it."
She wanted to see Rannoch without the gunfire, explosions and hostile Geth.
"If you're sure," Tali said hesitantly as she watched as Jane regained her balance.
Jane offered reassuring smile. Her face had softened since the end of the war, her jaw finally left to ease instead of the constant tension from clenching and grinding her teeth. Her eyes were still tired, but they had a relaxed quality, slowly shifting to take in the scenery instead of darting back and forth looking for threats. "I'm sure, Tali. It'll be good for me."
Tali, seemingly unable to contain herself any longer, swept her arms over Jane's shoulders, clutching the woman to her chest. "I missed you, Jane. So much," she said, a thin waver in her voice.
"I missed you too, but I'm here now. For good."
Recovering from her injuries in the aftermath of everything had been a long and difficult road, requiring her to stay on Earth for too long. Difficult enough that at times she found herself feeling wistful for whatever it was that Miranda and Cerberus had done to fix her up from dead. Being completely unaware for surgeries, grafts and new skin growth had its advantages. Post-surgical physical therapy was a dog.
And then there were the balance issues that plagued her still. Perhaps even for the rest of her life.
After a minute or two of a silent embrace, the two parted. Jane wiped the wet forming in her eyes with a small laugh. She hadn't even realized she was crying. "Lead the way, Admiral. Show me home."
"Shepard, please don't call me that."
"You stop calling me 'Shepard' and I'll stop calling you 'Admiral'," she joked.
"Deal."
The two set off from the temporary space port, a modular construction much like the kind of buildings set up at the beginning stages of colonial development. Fitting for the fresh start the quarian people were taking to resettle their homeworld.
It was early evening, the light from Tikkun painted th esky shades of purple to a pleasing amber. Beyond the low prefabs and active construction sites with towering cranes, tall rock formations and mesas dotted the distant landscape. "I always wanted to visit the desert. It's beautiful."
"Wait until you see the the sunrise over the river. It's like a painting, pictures don't capture how magical it is," Tali enthused, voice full of wonder.
They walked at a liesurely pace, taking in the sights and conveniently allowing for Shepard's slow, unsure gait. She was content to listen to Tali describe all of the steps her people were taking to reclaim their lost homeworld. It was going to be a long, slow-going process, but Tali's own two feet were on the surface, and that's what mattered most.
As they approached a row of attached, prefabricated colony houses, Jane stopped. Growing low to the ground in the wide, unoccupied space left to allow the natural flora and fauna to thrive, was a low, spidering plant. It was covered in bright blossoms that had thick rounded petals in vibrant yellows and oranges. The narrow leaves decorating the twisted stems were blue-gray and were covered in a fine, velveteen fuzz.
"Help me get closer, Tali. It's so pretty, I want to see it better."
"Of course!"
Tali helped Jane squat down by holding one of her poles steady as the other woman gripped it until she was just about on her hand and knees, eyeing the plant like a small child might. In short order, both women were on the ground, attempting to identify the various parts of the plant.
"I would say that I wish I had paid closer attention in primary school when we went over plants, but I don't think we covered xeno-botany," Jane mused with excitement lighting up her eyes.
Tali chuckled as she prodded at the dark amber center of one of the flowers. "Don't look at me, my expertise is about as far away from plant science as you can get. I do know that there is a tiny, little rodent that likes to eat them. They are adorable!"
"As cute as my hamster?"
"Even cuter! They have big, tall ears and very fluffy tails."
Jane hummed thoughtfully before responding, "I'll believe it when I see one. Can I take a flower?"
She really wanted to preserve one, having grown fond of making mementos of the small, beautiful signs of life arround her since her recovery. A way to remind her that the galaxy was going to recover too. But she would not take if it wasn't allowed.
Maybe.
Tali answered by plucking one of the larger blossoms and tucking it behind Jane's ear. "I think, even if it was not allowed, you could have one. They look so lovely in your hair."
Jane's cheeks grew warm. "Charmer," she muttered, feeling suddenly embarrased.
"I mean it, Jane."
Jane reached out, laying her hand on Tali's shoulder. "I know, babe. I'm just bad at taking a compliment. Thank you, I mean it."
Tali wrapped her hand over Jane's, squeezing it affectionately. "What do you say we get home? I want to take off this mask."
Jane shifted, planting her pole firmly in the ground. "That sounds like a great idea. It's been too long since I've been anywhere called home."
Tali hopped up and offered her hands to assist. "Well, now you're home."
"For good," Jane confirmed.
"For good."
Send me a prompt from this meme and force me to write!

Seeing so many ads for tiny/prefab homes made out of recycled shipping containers. It just feels like a scam in some way. Like… it’s a less mobile trailer home? You’re paying out the ass for street cred about recycling? The way they are marketing it just seems disingenuous.

Prefabricated Houses in UAE
Pre Fab Homes or Prefabricated Houses is a construction in which the components are fit tog there in the factory. With a rising population, increasing need for inexpensive housing, and the push for sustainable buildings, the cutting edge of construction has become less about the in-situ form work, and more about what can be pre-fabricated.
In this blog post, we’ll discuss what prefab homes are, types you can find in the market, advantages of using them, pricing factors, legality in the UAE, and why they are becoming a wise choice for individuals, businesses and even developers across the Emirates.

What Is A Prefabricated Home?
A prefabricated building is a type of building that consists of several factory-built components or units that are assembled on site to complete the unit. Unlike traditional buildings which are built from the ground up on-site, from bricks and lumber and steel onto a foundation, prefab homes are built partly in a factory.
There are different kinds of prefabricated houses:
Modular Homes: Factory-built and then installed on-site.
Panelized Homes: Prefabricated wall panels are transported and assembled on site.
Pre-Cut Homes: Pieces are cut in a factory and assembled on your lot (similar to kit homes).
Container Homes: Utilizing used shipping containers.
Why there’s surge in demand for prefabricated homes in the UAE
The UAE in general and Dubai/Abu Dhabi in particular are all about innovation and sustainability. Precut homes appeal to both predilections. There are several causes of below summarized reasons leading to prefab buildings being popular in UAE.
Faster Construction
Conventional construction can require months or years. Prefabs, by contrast, can be delivered in weeks. This speed is necessary in rapidly expanding urban regions.
Cost-Effective Housing
Prefab houses can be 20%-50% cheaper than typical houses and are best for affordable housing, workers’ accommodation, luxury villas. suitable for large scale production, small and middle-sized companies? Use 6-8 years life.
Eco-Friendly Construction
Prefab homes are green Remodeling isn't just about asthetics — prefab homes use less materials, are more energy-efficient with less carbon output so contribute to our economy without being environmentally destructive — a major concern with UAE Vision 2030.
High-Quality Standards
Contemporary prefab houses in UAE are built using international grade materials and perform quality testing, thus keeping you warm in winters and cool in summers.
Customizable Designs
Despite the myth that prefab homes are all the same, there are many UAE companies that provide bespoke layouts, finishes and luxurious interiors.
Where Are Factory Built Homes Used in UAE?
There are a number of applications for prefab homes in the UAE:
Worker Accommodation Camps
Luxury Villas & Weekend Homes
Clinics on Emergency Shelters or Wheeled Vehicles
Temporary Commercial Buildings and Offices
Affordable Housing Projects
Farmhouses or Desert Retreats
