I hope this doesn't come off as tokenizing but what were you taught about Jesus from Muslims (not from any christians trying to convert you)

Because when christians make broad sweeping generalizations and say Judiasm (my religion) and Islam are closer to or further away from Christianity I wonder if they lie about Islam as much as they lie about Judiasm

So, to preface, I am a new revert(the Islamic term for convert), and I have not read the entirety of the Quran yet.

In the Quran, Jews and Christians are called "The People of the Book", and are, the way I like to put it, like religious siblings/cousins to Islam. Allah says we(Jews, Christians, and Muslims(and other Abrahamic religions who's names I do not have memorized)) worship the same God. All of the prophets mentioned in the Torah and the Bible are in the Quran (to my knowledge all of them are.) Though, there may be discrepancy between the stories of said prophets.

In the Quran, Jesus is called Issa(I'm not sure on that spelling). The Quran does state the he was born from the virgin Mary BUT! That he is NOT! The son of God. He is not the messiah, he DID NOT die for our sins! As we Muslims don't see that as fair and merciful, for one innocent man to die for all of humanities sins.

We do, however, believe he was a prophet if God.

The Quran may accept Christians for believing in Jesus as a prophet, however condemns those who see Jesus as divine like God, and those who believe in the holy trinity as that is creating partners with God, aka idolatry.

When it comes to who gets into heaven and who gets into hell.....

The Quran says that Believers, including People of the Book(but not those who worship Jesus and create partners with God) get into heaven with Muslims.

But as with any religion, it depends on who you ask!

Some say it's only Muslims who are "perfect" and "without sin"

I would like to believe that God let's all good people into heaven, as a merciful God wouldn't punish those who had the qualities he liked just because they weren't taught to be Muslim.

Oh! And despite popular belief, and actions of certain Muslims, Islam is /NOT/ compulsory! We're encouraged to tell people about Islam, and try to persuade them to "do the right thing" and turn to Islam, but ultimately we are not to force and shame people into Islam.

I'm not sure where it is in the Quran, but there's a passage about how the Muslims were butting heads with the pagans of Mecca. Allah told them to let the pagans who were not fighting against them, and were seeking them out for safety and refuge stay with them. To try and teach them about Islam, but ultimately let it be up to them if they decided to follow Him. Then they were to guide the Pagans to safety as if they were one of their own.
