Better is One Day in Your Courts
1 Lord God All-Powerful,    your temple is so lovely! 2 Deep in my heart I long    for your temple, and with all that I am    I sing joyful songs to you.
3 Lord God All-Powerful,    my King and my God, sparrows find a home    near your altars; swallows build nests there    to raise their young.
4 You bless everyone who lives in your house,    and they sing your praises. 5 You bless all who depend    on you for their strength and all who deeply desire    to visit your temple. 6 When they reach Dry Valley,    springs start flowing, and the autumn rain fills it    with pools of water. 7 Your people grow stronger, and you, the God of gods,    will be seen in Zion.
8 Lord God All-Powerful, the God of Jacob,    please answer my prayer! 9 You are the shield    that protects your people, and I am your chosen one.    Won't you smile on me?
10 One day in your temple is better than a thousand    anywhere else. I would rather serve    in your house, than live in the homes    of the wicked.
11 Our Lord and our God, you are like the sun    and also like a shield. You treat us with kindness    and with honor, never denying any good thing    to those who live right.
12 Lord God All-Powerful, you bless everyone    who trusts you. — Psalm 84 | Contemporary English Version (CEV) The Holy Bible, Contemporary English Version Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society. Reflecting Psalm 84
O Lord God I dwell with thee and ye as well with me I yearn for and long for more and more of you to be in my life – anew oh to enter your courts with a singing heart bursting out my chest with a mind transformed with body & soul contrite I will shout, sing and dance only for you O Lord Although I feel home-less I know I have a home with you forever. And it is near – this dwelling with…

PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 84
Tuesday, 11/14/23
SCRIPTURE:
How happy are those who reside in Your house,  who praise You continually. Selah  ~ Psalm 84:4  Happy are the people whose strength is in You,  whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. ~ Psalm 84:5  Better a day in Your courts  than a thousand anywhere else.  I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than live in the tents of wicked people. ~ Psalm 84:10
OBSERVATION:
Interesting opposites here:
Reside - have one's permanent home in a particular place;
Pilgrimage - a purposeful journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about their self, others, nature, or a higher good through the experience. It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns home to their daily life;
And then,
the threshold of the house of God - implies permanence, residing...
...tents of the wicked - implies impermanence, moving from place to place...
Happy - residing and pilgriming in Him and in His presence... even for just a day...
APPLICATION:
Reside in Him;
Travel with Him;
Praise Him continually;
PRAYER:
Father God - may I travel with You, pilgrimage with You, return with You to Your house and accept my place at Your door... I ask forgiveness for my wandering... Please accept my praise and thanksgiving and worship for Your grace and mercy... through and in Jesus's Name, for Your honor...
Happily trusting in Him... 𝖌

Daily Prayer for August 1, 2023: Psalm 84
Prayer: Our most holy and wise God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we bless your name and give you thanks that you have fashioned us to worship you. We thank you for giving us a day to gather with your people to praise and hear from you. As the Psalmist wrote, we, too, desire to see your dwelling place as lovely. Indeed it is because you are there. Each week you meet with us to bless us and help…

The Little Wild Flowers
“The look the Shepherd turned on her was very beautiful. “Nothing my Father and I have made is ever wasted,” he said quietly, “and the little wild flowers have a wonderful lesson to teach. They offer themselves so sweetly and confidently and willingly, even if it seems that there is no one to appreciate them. Just as though they sang a joyous little song to themselves, that it is so happy to…

Crying Out
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Psalm 84:2 I was eating lunch today with my wife, when from across the restaurant I heard what sounded like a siren. It only took a couple seconds for the sound to become clear. It was an infant crying. The sound wasn’t particularly annoying, it was comforting in a way, to hear an…

‭Psalms 84:10-11
Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

Happy are the people whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of spring water; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings. They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion. Psalms 84:5-7
