giiiiiirl my dutch homies frans timmermans current european commissioner actually did it he's running for prime minister for the combined parties of pvda and groenlinks. I wasn't sure he'd want to do that because he has such a big career that he'd have to gamble with for the chance of being prime minister, but he did it and acknowledged that it's at the risk of just being present in the tweede kamer instead if they don't win. like he's going for it. girls this is genuinely monumental. pvda and groenlinks have been attempting this fusion for many years and they DID IT and instead of either party's biggest current name, they enlisted THE frans timmermans current european commissioner because they know the Dutch people if nothing else love a big stable name in politics (see, infamous Mark Rutte still winner of 13 years), and because frans timmermans can unite them as two parties becoming one. this is huge I NEED you all to vote for this. THIS is the path to change that we've been trying to get for the past 13 years this is THE way to ACTUALLY achieve in a green and left progressive future with a focus on both climate and the working class for our country I promise you I swear this is so big if he makes it. If the pvda/groenlinks fusion with frans timmermans as a figurehead make it, it will be the biggest thing in Dutch politics of the past decade. Do NOT get apathetic on me now they are out there risking everything for this future and it is achievable.
