What is a QR Code Business Card? what are the Benefits of Using QR Codes on Business Cards?
A QR code business card is a modern and tech-savvy approach to traditional paper business cards. Instead of presenting your contact information solely in a physical format, a QR code business card includes a QR (Quick Response) code that recipients can scan with their smartphones or other QR code scanning devices to access your contact details or other relevant information.
Here's how it typically works:
Information Encoding: The QR code on the business card can encode various types of information, including your name, phone number, email address, website, and other contact details.
Scanning: The person receiving the business card uses their smartphone's camera or a QR code scanning app to scan the QR code on the card.
Contact Information Access: Once scanned, the QR code directs the scanner to a specific digital destination. This destination can be a vCard (virtual business card), a website with your contact information, a LinkedIn profile, or any other digital resource you choose.
Easy Contact Import: If it's a vCard, the recipient's phone can often import the contact information directly into their address book with a single tap, making it convenient for them to save your contact details.
QR code business cards offer several advantages:
Convenience: They make it easy for people to save your contact information digitally, eliminating the need to manually input details.
Eco-Friendly: Reduces the need for printing and distributing paper cards, making it more environmentally friendly.
Space-Efficient: QR codes are small and don't take up much space on the physical card.
QR code business cards are particularly popular at conferences, networking events, and in tech-focused industries, but they can be used effectively in various professional settings.
what are the Benefits of Using QR Codes on Business Cards

Saves Physical Space: Traditional business cards can become cluttered with excessive information. QR codes can help declutter the physical card by storing additional information in digital form, allowing you to provide more comprehensive details without overwhelming the design.
Digital Updates: You can update the information linked to the QR code at any time without reprinting your physical business cards. This flexibility ensures that your contacts always have access to your most current information.
Enhanced Interaction: QR codes can link to various types of content, such as your website, portfolio, LinkedIn profile, or a vCard with comprehensive contact information. This enhances the interaction and engagement with the recipient.
Cost-Effective: While there may be initial costs associated with setting up and designing QR code business cards, they can save money in the long run by reducing the need for frequent reprinting.
Personal Branding Opportunities: QR codes can be customized to some extent, allowing you to add your logo or branding elements to the code, which can enhance your personal or company branding.
Integration with Other Marketing Materials: QR codes can be used not only on business cards but also on other marketing materials like brochures, flyers, and promotional products, creating a consistent digital experience.
Interactive Marketing: QR codes can link to multimedia content, promotional offers, or interactive experiences, making your business card more engaging and memorable. QR codes on business cards offer these benefits, it's essential to use them effectively and ensure that the linked content is well-organized, up-to-date, and user-friendly to maximize their impact on your networking and communication efforts.

Customize the QR Code: Customize the appearance of your QR code by adding your logo, incorporating brand colours, or personalizing it in a way that aligns with your branding. A customized QR code is more visually appealing and memorable.

Mobile-Friendly Destination: Ensure that the digital content linked to the QR code is mobile-friendly. The destination, whether it's a website or vCard, should be responsive and easy to navigate on smartphones and tablets.
Link to a Professional Online Presence: If the QR code links to a website or online profile, make sure the content is professional and up-to-date. This might include a LinkedIn profile, personal website, or a professional portfolio.
Include a Call to Action: On your physical card, provide a brief call to action that encourages people to scan the QR code. For example, "Scan for more info" or "Connect with me online."
Regularly Update the QR Code: If your contact information or linked content changes, update the QR code promptly to ensure that your contacts always have access to accurate information.
Integrate with Your Branding: Design your QR code business card to align with your overall branding. Ensure that the colour scheme, fonts, and style match your personal or corporate identity.
Explain the Benefits: When giving out your QR code business card, briefly explain the benefits of using it to the recipient, especially if they're not familiar with QR codes. Mention the time-saving and convenience aspects.

This is your regular PSA to get your own website, whether on neocities (free) or wherever and not depend on social media/a free third party for keeping your stuff together.
Flowpage (like linktree) took down my page and locked me out of my account for "violating community guidelines" without warning or even alerting me, though I've done nothing of the sort. I've emailed them about it, but haven't heard back yet. this is bad because all my business cards (both for me and my small business) have a QR code that goes there, and I don't want to make new business cards already. (I'm just glad I didn't go to a con this weekend)
#regardless what happens next#I'm putting my own links list on my website now#and qr-code-directing to there for my next batch of business cards#this is also incentivizing me to put together an email newsletter#in case any of my socials go down#anyone interested in that?

Making communicatiom cards was actually so fun (awakened the arts and crafts in me i guess) but i can't really... like, i already have 40 (a lot) and they're really only for guard. There's a two i hole punched a little close to the edge, and two cards i'd like to add so far ("i'm tired" and one to just put on the top of the deck).
Buuuuut i don't want to waste perfectly good paper/laminating sheets so i guess i have to wait until 6 to 8 other things come to mind 🤔
#actuallyautistic#communication cards#a blank card would only be helpful if i carried a dry erase marker with me Everywhere so i'd have to Grt a dry erase marker#that's not bulky and for saving all my moneys reasons i... cant do that#maybe it's just an easy way to be creative and that's why i like it......#my other option is 'business' cards so i can advertise my commissions?#but i'm trying not to use up a lot of ink either so :/#like what art could i put on there....#qr code ofcourse but art ??? ?????? idk#maybe i could make like mini core boards as well but i think i'd use those Even Less

I have mostly given up on trying to explain to the folks at my work that we should just stop using QR codes. I'd tried to explain it, because even if they totally work the way we want them to, we're still training our elders (aka most of the people who come here) to just... trust that every QR code they see is actually what it says it is.
And then everybody acts like I'm kicking over their sandcastle for funsies. Fucking hell.

😭
#had a meeting with someone who gave me their business card#and there's a QR code on it#and no written website#and I'm just like#okie dokie I guess I'll never know what your website is!
