Fantasy football mock draft: 10-team, 1/2 PPR
12:56 PM ET- ESPN.com staffWe're officially in the vacuum of space between OTAs and training camp. Seems like a good time for everyone to chill and enjoy summer, right? Not if you're aiming to win a championship. You know the top NFL competitors are hard at work right now. So, too, are fantasy folks who want to own their drafts when they count. That means taking part in some mock drafts to get a feel for things and work out the kinks, which is exactly what our experts did with our latest mock.
More people play on ESPN than anywhere else. Join or create a league in the No. 1 Fantasy Football game! Sign up for free >>
Following our first one, a 10-team PPR format, we're back with this 10-team 1/2-PPR mock. For the uninitiated, that means your players will score a half-point for each catch they make. You can take a look at the results below to see where you may find good values, which positions are shallow or deep, and which draft strategies our experts tried at this point of the offseason. The participants, in order of draft position, were: Marcel Louis-Jacques, Matt Bowen, Kyle Soppe, Eric Karabell, Tom Carpenter, Field Yates, Daniel Dopp, Tristan H. The James Conner Post-Hype Fantasy Sleeper Season
It is funny how the cycle works of fantasy players and analysts get hot and bothered about certain actual football players, then shun the exact player the next season. I am no exception to this phenomenon. I was not exactly enthused to buy this certain player at his price tag last season, but I am all about it for where he’s going next year. Because of this, let’s see if I can convince you all about a favorite post-hype sleeper of mine for 2020: James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Last year, many were eager to buy Conner coming off of his 2018 breakout season where he ran for 973 yards in 13 games at a 4.5 yards-per-carry clip, racked up 497 yards through the air and found paydirt 13 times in those 13 games, finishing with 19.1 half PPR points per game, good for RB7 on the season on a per-game basis. To make matters even better, Conner was targeted 71 times and hauled in 55 of those targets, proving he can play on all three downs. That led to Conner’s ADP soaring up to 6.6 per Sleeper in the summer of 2019 after finishing at 150.1 in 2018 amidst Le’Veon Bell’s holdout. However, Conner’s constant injury struggles and the devolution at quarterback from Ben Roethlisberger to what Joe Budden would call ‘a two-pack of ass (Mason Rudolph and Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges)’ did not allow the Steelers’ offense to flourish in 2019 as we have become accustomed to in previous seasons. In Conner’s breakout 2018 season, Pittsburgh boasted the sixth-best offense according to Football Outsider’s DVOA metric. In 2019? Pittsburgh ranked dead last. Using more simplistic counting stats, the Steelers offense in 2018 ranked fourth in yards per game and sixth in points per game. In 2019, the Steelers fell to 30th and 27th in those statistics, respectively. Yes, ass indeed.
Despite Pittsburgh’s offense falling into an abyss, Conner’s fantasy production was not affected all that much. Conner still put up 12.8 half PPR points per game, ranking 19th on a per-game basis. Sure, that is more than a touchdown-per-game dropoff from 2018, but a deeper look is worthwhile. Conner exited both Week 11 at Cleveland and Week 16 at the Jets in the second quarter. If you exclude those two games and look solely at games Conner played into the fourth quarter, Conner went on to average roughly 15.28 half PPR points per game, which would’ve squeezed Conner past Mark Ingram II and placed Conner as the RB8 on a per-game basis, despite a drop in Conner’s efficiency from 2018 (4.5 yards per carry; 9 yards per reception) to 2019 (4 yards per carry; 7.4 yards per reception), suggesting Conner has room to improve from an efficiency standpoint. On top of that, Conner has been consistent as the Steelers’ workhorse (more on this in a second). In 2018, Conner never finished outside of RB36 in a given week and only four of his 13 weeks were outside of the top 24 of the position (and two of those finishes were RB25 and RB26). Even in 2019, outside of the games Conner left early, just 1 of those 8 was outside of the top 36 and 3 were outside of the top 24 (but, again, there was an RB25 finish sprinkled in).
On top of all of this, Pittsburgh did not do much to bolster their running back group, only drafting Anthony McFarland Jr. out of Maryland, leading coach Mike Tomlin to proclaim that Conner will still be the featured runner out of the backfield. Asking if Conner will be able to hold up from the immense workload bestowed upon him (he’s had at least 15 touches in 14 of his 23 games since 2018) is another (fair) question, but this still seems like it’s Conner’s backfield. Even furthering Conner’s workload potential is the rise of the Steelers’ defense, which ranked third in DVOA last season. If the Steelers can get the lead and keep the lead, that allows Conner to gobble up more yards while churning down the clock. Oh, and Ben Roethlisberger will return this season, meaning the Pittsburgh offense can only go up compared to last season.
To recap: James Conner was great and a league-winning runner in 2018, which led to him owning a hefty price tag that he was able to deliver upon when healthy in 2019, but couldn’t stay on the field. Now in 2020, I’d argue his injury risk is baked into his ADP, where he is going at RB18 (31.3 overall) on Sleeper and RB21 (56.2 overall) on ESPN.com. I’d expect Conner to be drafted in most drafts somewhere in the middle of those two spots, and if you can get him there, he’s a bargain. If (when?) he gets hurt, you should be able to find a replacement. Is he a must-draft? Not necessarily. But if he (and Ben Roethlisberger, admittedly quite a few dominoes) stays healthy, you get what was a top ten pick last season & the production that comes with said price in the third-fifth round. What more could you want?

Fantasy Football Booms/Busts 2018: The Carolina Panthers
Christian McCaffrey cracked the RB top-15 last year in .5 PPR leagues. Can he repeat the feat with C.J. Anderson on roster? (AP Photo/Chuck Burton)
As the mercury rises and we inch closer to the open of training camps, our resident fantasy football sickos, Brad Evans and Liz Loza, will profile their favorite booms/busts of every NFL team. Today’s topic: The Prowling Panthers.
Among first-year Panthers, who BOOMS loudest at their ADP: C.J. Anderson (92.0, RB40) or DJ Moore (148.7, WR59)?
Brad – ANDERSON. There are few professions in this world people say you’re “washed up” at 27 years old. We’re no longer living in the Middle Ages for crying out loud, a time period when pestilence, child birth or battle ax encounters ceased most lives by age 30. But some believe Anderson, acquired by the Panthers after Denver kicked him to the wayside, is cooked. I am not part of said group.
The rusher isn’t running on empty. His per game production sagged measurably last season, but there are several encouraging signs he still has plenty of petrol. Drilling down, he ranked top-15 in total evaded tackles (RB8), total runs of 15-plus yards (RB13) and yards created (RB11) last year. His 2.8 yards after contact per attempt according to Pro Football Focus also wasn’t too shabby (RB17). Yes, he ranked RB32 in run success rate (h/t Sharp Football Stats), but the Broncos’ QB play was atrocious.
As a Panther, Anderson will work in lock step with Christian McCaffrey. Reports of Mister Christian approaching 200 ground attempts is ludicrous. His dance partner is an upgrade over Jonathan Stewart who received close to 47 percent of the opportunity share in 2017 (13.2 carries per game). Approximately 14-15 touches per contest for CJA feels right. In an improved offensive environment and hungry to prove his mettle on a one-year deal, he’s a sparkling mid-round gem capable of 850-950 combined yards with 7-8 TDs.

Liz – C.J. ANDERSON. Not the flashy choice, but a solid one. Yes, Moore offers oodles of upside – from his measurables to the praise he received at OTAs – but he’s still a rookie with a limited route tree, fighting for targets on a run-first operation.
Anderson, on the other hand, is coming off of a 1,000-yard season. At 27-years-old, the former Bronco has plenty left in the tank, as evidenced by his juke rate (28.6%). Last year Anderson also ripped off nine breakaway runs (#13). Expect that number to increase, as he’ll be trading Trevor Siemian/Brock Osweiler/Paxton Lynch for the ultra-mobile Cam Newton, which should open up holes and provide the Cal product with extra running room.
Replacing Jonathan Stewart, Anderson is likely to average upwards of 13 totes per contest. Assuming he stays healthy (which is distinctly possible given a reduced workload) and that he’s slightly more efficient than Stewart was in his age 30-season, I’d expect Anderson to close out 2018 in the RB25-RB30 range.
Bigger bust candidate: Devin Funchess (63.6, WR27), Christian McCaffrey (17.4, RB11) or Greg Olsen (68.7, TE6)?
Liz – CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY. Before anyone gets it twisted, this is NOT a knock on McCaffrey’s talent. This is a knock against paying peak value for a player. It’s great that CMC has added five pounds of muscle, but that doesn’t make him a grinder. I get that Ron Rivera is touting the former Cardinal’s ability to “run a lot more,” but that sounds like a head coach trying to make his offense sound less predictable.
The RB11 overall in half-point PPR formats last year, McCaffrey was the most targeted RB in the league. He also hauled in the third most receptions at 80 catches on the season. How much better can he realistically do? An increase in totes is the only realistic place for him to significantly up his production. Maybe he averages 10 carries per game – and stays healthy in the process – but that’s not a gamble that I’m willing to take in the first round. Not when perennial producers like Devonta Freeman and Jordan Howard are still on the board.
Brad – CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY. To say its been an eventful offseason for Run CMC would be a gross understatement. He’s not only packed on the pounds in anticipation of shouldering more work, the Castle Rock, Col. native also helped save a life. Quite the story.
For fantasy purposes, many believe the rusher’s heroism will carry over into the box score. Some have brazenly said he’ll resemble LaDainian Tomlinson in Norv Turner’s offense. Umm … that’s crazy talk. He may don a cape in harrowing situations away from the field, but when it comes to fantasy football, McCaffrey won’t be a savior.
On just over 48 percent of the opportunity share a season ago, the rusher delivered on the rookie hype. He averaged 5.5 yards per touch (RB7), totaled 80 receptions (RB3) and notched the 15th-most valuable RB line in .5 PPR. But his sterling surface numbers cloaked underlying flaws. He ran weakly between the tackles (2.1 YAC/att, RB62) and, shockingly, finished RB36 in tackles avoided per attempt. For a RB many describe as evasive, he forced a missed tackle on a pedestrian 17.2 percent of his touches. Also successful on just 44 percent of his rush attempts (h/t Sharp Football Stats), tagging him inefficient is appropriate.
With C.J. Anderson in tow, it’s silly to buy into Ron Rivera’s declaration McCaffrey will approach 200 carries. The added poundage may help, but he isn’t the bulldozer Anderson, a major upgrade over Jonathan Stewart, is. He, like Jerick McKinnon, is an overpriced Round 2 pass-catching RB. Certifiable horses Dalvin Cook, Jordan Howard and LeSean McCoy are wiser targets at a nearly identical price point.
Is Cam Newton UNDERVALUED/OVERVALUED or PROPERLY VALUED at his 90.9 ADP (QB5)?
Brad – UNDERVALUED. If Sasquatch emerged from the backwoods of North Carolina and signed on to play tight end for the Panthers, Cam would find a way to overthrow him … repeatedly. Inaccuracy is the passer’s only downside. Over his past two campaigns, he ranked No. 32 or worse in overall completion percentage and red-zone completion percentage. He’s Blake Bortles with more productive legs.
However, due to his scoring duality, Newton remains a bargain buy at his Round 8 ADP in 12-team leagues. Since taking the league by storm in 2011, he finished QB4 or better five times. Norv Turner’s belief he can elevate the QB’s completion rate into the high-60s is a peyote driven hallucination, but an increase use of play-action and quick throws can’t hurt. Adding rookie D.J. Moore, a prolific short-to-intermediate weapon while at Maryland, only boosts Newton’s profile. He’s properly valued in QB standing, but a steal of a deal overall.
Liz – PROPERLY VALUED. Cam may not be a perfect NFL quarterback (accuracy/INTs), but he’s been a phenomenal pick for fans of the virtual game. A top-four FF producer in five of the last seven years, Newton’s rushing stats have continually buoyed his fantasy totals. While that might be hard to sustain, he’s done a solid job of staying mobile so far. Adding D.J. Moore and C.J. Anderson to the squad should only help Cam to further dominate. Heading into 2018, he’s the Yahoo Fantasy consensus QB5.

2018 Fantasy Football Mock, RDs 9-10: Multiple upside rookies highlight selections
Nick Chubb is one of several rookies the Yahoo Fantasy “experts” had their eyes on in Rounds 9-10. (AP)
It may be early, but with the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, it’s time for some fantasy football drafting. We recently held a 10-team, 0.5 PPR mock to get things started. The 2018 fantasy football season is officially underway.
SEE ROUNDS 1-2 HERE
SEE ROUNDS 3-4 HERE
SEE ROUNDS 5-6 HERE
SEE ROUNDS 7-8 HERE
ROUND 9
Pick 81: Corey Davis, Ten, WR36 – Davis didn’t get the reps he needed early in the season, but down the strech he often dazzled. Fully healthy and with an entire offeseaon under his belt, the fifth overall pick in the 2017 draft has massive breakout appeal. (Liz Loza 2)
Pick 82: Kirk Cousins, Min, QB7 – A top-five producer in back-to-back seasons, Cousins will receive a massive upgrade in both weapons and protection. Thrilled to snag him here. (Loza 1)
Pick 83: Emmanuel Sanders, Den, WR37 – He averaged 138 targets, 1,190 yards and seven touchdowns over his first three seasons in Denver before last year’s down campaign, but expect a bounce back with the Broncos’ improved quarterback play in 2018. (Dalton Del Don 2)
Pick 84: Nelson Agholor, Phi, WR38 – He scored eight touchdowns last year and should finally eclipse 100 targets for the first time in his career. I’ve now drafted Agholor, Alshon Jeffery and Jay Ajayi, as I’m happy to collect pieces of this Philly offense. (Del Don 1)
Pick 85: D.J. Moore, Car, WR39 – For me, Moore was the top rookie receiver in this year’s draft class. He landed in a spot where targets should be guaranteed. (Andy Behrens 2)
[Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues are open: Sign up now for free]
Pick 86: Rex Burkhead, NE, RB33 – Yes, Rex is a committee back. But this is a pretty awesome committee. New England’s offense is a buffet of fantasy points and Burkhead should see 10-14 touches per game. . (Behrens 1)
Pick 87: Kerryon Johnson, Det, RB34 – Another year. Another crowded backfield in the Motor City. However, if there’s one exotic sports car bound to come off the assembly line, it’s the rookie from Auburn. He’ll likely surrender power-back work to LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick will steal some receptions, but he’s a legit three-down slasher who excelled in pass pro and receiving with the Tigers. Initially, he should register 10-12 touches per game with room to grow, provided Ameer Abdullah is kicked to the curb. (Brad Evans 2)
Pick 88: Delanie Walker, Ten, TE8 – He’s quietly averaged a 22.6 target share the past two years converting those opportunities into 65 and 74-catch campaigns. Also a favorite red-zone weapon of Marcus Mariota, Walker possesses a higher floor than most believe. (Evans 1)
Pick 89: Matthew Stafford, Det, QB8 – Somewhere along the way, he became deliciously underrated. Stafford has five Top-10 QB finishes in his last seven years, and the odd years weren’t that bad (11th, 15th). No Megatron, no problem — he’s been even better in the post-CJ world. (Scott Pianowski 2)
Pick 90: Kyle Rudolph, Min, TE9 – Looks like I’m the Vikings sympathizer here; while others are looking California, I’m feeling Minnesota. Rudolph is coming off TE3 and TE6 seasons, and just got a presumed upgrade at quarterback. Sexy, no. Reliable, hell yes. (Pianow 1)
ROUND 10
Pick 91: Carlos Hyde, Cle, RB35 – A lot to unpack in the Cleveland backfield, and maybe I have the wrong guy. But it’s Round 10. Hyde can play in all packages and game situations. (Pianow 1)
Pick 92: Robby Anderson, NYJ, WR40 – Anderson was WR16 in standard last year; only his off-field issues are pushing his price down. But in Round 10, I’m all about upside, and he offers it. (Pianow 2)
Pick 93: Nick Chubb, Cle, RB36 – A surprise addition to a Cleveland team that shelled out considerable cash for Carlos Hyde, Chubb figures to enter into a strict timeshare immediately. He’s a sensational one-cut runner with the size, patience, power (3.77 YAC/att in ’17), balance and build (5-foot-10, 228 pounds) to pound lines on early downs. If Hyde sprains an eyelid, the rookie suddenly becomes a sure-fire RB2 on a much improved Browns team.(Evans 1)
Pick 94: Trey Burton, Chi, TE10 – One of my favorite acquisitions of the offseason, Burton will finally get an opportunity to showcase his wares week-to-week. When he logged at least 50 percent of the snap share from 2016-2017, a span of six games, he averaged 4.3 receptions and 48.0 yards per game totaling three TDs. Extrapolate that output over 16 games and he was essentially Evan Engram from last season. (Evans 2)
Pick 95: Michael Gallup, Dal, WR41 – Dallas’ receiving corps is perhaps the league’s worst, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Gallup were to see triple-digit targets in his first season. (Behrens 1)
Pick 96: Anthony Miller, Chi, WR42 – Five Bears skill players have been drafted through ten rounds. NAGY FEVER IS REAL. (Behrens 2)
Pick 97: Carson Wentz, Phi, QB9 – He tossed 33 touchdowns over 13 games and might’ve won the MVP had he not gotten injured. Wentz should be ready for Week 1, and he’ll helm one of the best offenses in football. (Del Don 1)
Pick 98: Patrick Mahomes, KC, QB10 – Given his rushing ability, the Chiefs’ offensive weapons and system combined with their losses on defense, it’s an ideal setup for the exciting sophomore. Waiting on QB remains the way to go. (Del Don 2)
Pick 99: Marshawn Lynch, Oak, RB37 – Gruden wants to run his offense like it’s 1998 and that means good things for Beast Mode. Sure, the backfield is crowded, but right now Lynch figures to lead the pack. (Loza 1)
Pick 100: Dez Bryant, FA, WR43 – I’ll take a flyer on a three-time Pro Bowl talent who’s motivated to show up his old team. (Loza 2)

Fantasy soccer mock draft No. 2: ten-crew, 2QB, PPR
New Post has been published on https://othersportsnews.com/fantasy-soccer-mock-draft-no-2-ten-crew-2qb-ppr/
Fantasy soccer mock draft No. 2: ten-crew, 2QB, PPR
On Tuesday, our ESPN fantasy soccer authorities took aspect in our next mock draft, this 1 staying a ten-crew, PPR (point for each reception) program that utilizes two starting quarterbacks. Our first mock was a ten-crew, non-PPR, 1-quarterback set up. The differences among these two formats were dramatic.
Anything you need to have to have a profitable fantasy soccer time. Draft Package
• Personnel rankings: PPR | non-PPR
• Participant projections and profiles
• Depth charts: QB | RB | WR | TE
• Eric Karabell’s soccer weblog
• Berry’s 100 points for 2017
• Sleepers, busts, breakouts for 2017
• Leading ten faces in new spots
• Indicator up now: It can be absolutely free to play!
Clearly, the benefit of running backs, broad receivers and limited ends can be afflicted considerably by staying granted 1 point for each and every catch created — check out the differences among our experts’ PPR vs. non-PPR rankings — but that pales in comparison to the benefit of quarterbacks in leagues that use 1 or two of them.
Take into consideration that Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees went in the first round of this 2QB draft, but they went in Rounds 5, 5 and seven, in the 1QB draft. Exclusively, Rodgers was drafted 34 spots later, although Brady went forty two and Brees 55 spots later.
Much more people play on ESPN than everywhere else. Join or generate a league in the No. one Fantasy Football recreation! Indicator Up for Absolutely free!
Nonetheless, although some proprietors drafted quarterbacks early, other people remained affected individual and stocked up on RBs, WRs and TEs who will be greatly targeted and rack up regular details week in and week out. I could regret taking Allen Robinson as my fourth broad receiver as an alternative of grabbing the likes of Marcus Mariota or Matthew Stafford as my best quarterback, but I nevertheless finished up with Ben Roethlisberger and Andy Dalton, and I have WR depth that allows me to trade for a QB later on.
There are quite a few methods to method a 2QB draft, which is type of the point. Quarterbacks are so devalued in 1QB units that there is little approach concerned in choosing them. If you want a better challenge, take into account switching to a 2QB structure this time.
The individuals in order of draft posture are Kyle Soppe, Eric Karabell, Matt Bowen, Tom Carpenter, Leo Howell, Jim McCormick, Pierre Becquey, Joe Kaiser, Tristan H. Cockcroft and KC Joyner.
