Elaboration and validation of a prognostic signature associated with disulfidoptosis in lung adenocarcinoma, consolidated with integration of single-cell #RNA sequencing and bulk #RNA sequencing techniques
BACKGROUND: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), the predominant subtype of non-small cell lung #cancer (NSCLC), remains a pervasive global public health concern. Disulfidoptosis, a nascent form of regulated cell death (RCD), presents an emerging field of inquiry. Currently, investigations into disulfidoptosis are in their initial stages. Our undertaking sought to integrate single-cell #RNA sequencing (sc#RNA-seq) in conjunction with traditional bulk #RNA sequencing (bulk #RNA-seq) methodologies, with the... https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37965333/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_campaign=None&utm_content=1RYYbE7j9SUSBe_aHniaI_J1MQIFIBbfLuFxoWdLNMNDzVVIWF&fc=None&ff=20231117184011&v=2.17.9.post6%2086293ac

Alright peoples! We're shifting gears to focus more on the RCD Universe! Scarlet Syndicate (as well as everything else) is still moving in the background, so no worries there, we're just switching it up a lil bit while we're moving out of spooky season.
I implore you, send in your RCD asks/headcanons because i've certainly missed Wanda and Skitch and everything that comes with them :3

It's Time to Say Goodbye
(Maxwell Beaumont x OC) in a Choices The Royal Romance/Perfect Match crossover drabble * taken from my TRR/PM/RCD series, And Then I Met You*
Thirty Kisses in Thirty Days Challenge with the prompt: a kiss goodbye
May 2023 Choices Monthly Challenge: last goodbye | weddings | crying
Rating G for angsty fluff
A/N I know. I could have done a romantic story or two about a happy couple kissing each other goodbye on the way to work or something. But I feel angsty today 😂 Anyone who has read this series knows my OC had to watch Maxwell, the man she believed was the love of her life, marry someone else in the first chapter. Though the series continues happily for her with a new love, I thought I should go back to that first chapter and show how that wedding ended. It's a cold, rainy day here in my neck of the woods thanks to a tropical storm blowing through. The mood is set. I'm in my favorite worn out yoga pants and completely comfortable in my heated recliner. Time to get angsty 🤣

Masterlist
St Orella's Ballroom...
Amanda sat alone once more at the bridal party's table. She watched as all her friends and invited guests danced and celebrated Maxwell and Nadia united in matrimony. Laughter and conversations were a distant hum in the background of the music.
She'd always loved this part of a party. At balls and such, she would escape in the midst of it to watch from a distance. It was as if she was an outsider, looking in at a world she'd always been a part of yet at the same time wasn't. It gave her time to reflect back on the people she'd met and her own interactions with them.
Right now, she wasn't thinking about the numerous wedding guests. She was trying to figure herself out.
Amanda didn't really know what she wanted anymore. She knew what was expected of her as a duchess of Cordonia, but it wasn't enough. She supposed that was why she gave in to her late uncle's urges and wrote her first novel. To her surprise, it became a best seller.
Though that new part of her life was exciting, she wanted more. Perhaps not fame, but something different from the life she was leading. More of what exactly she wasn't necessarily sure, and yet the desire was there making her feel restless for some needed changes. She loved her life, her friends, but surely this wasn't all she was destined for...was it?
Her attention settled once more on Maxwell. Olivia was probably right. She should have told him that she was in love with him instead of waiting to see if he might feel the same and actually do something about it. At least then she wouldn't be left feeling so depressed over what might have been.
I could have been depressed over him still choosing to be with Nadia Park.
Outside, she appeared to be the thrilled, delighted to be hosting his wedding, best friend. Inside, she was left with thoughts of what life might have looked like if she had told him.
Given how quickly Maxwell fell in love and proposed to New York's famed artist, Amanda assumed he would have done the same with her if he had felt anything for her. He was impulsive yet always knew what was right for himself. Marriage to the love of his life wasn't even something to hesitate a single thought over.
She admired him for that. While she was left second guessing over everything she did in life, he never once looked back or worried over his decisions.
She sighed then finished off her champagne. One of her servants set a fresh glass down. Amanda wondered if she should drink her sadness away.
"Hey!" Maxwell bounded over to her, leaping over a few chairs in the process. "What are you doing sitting over here by yourself?"
Unable to stop herself from smiling whenever he was near, Amanda shrugged. "Just my usual."
"Uh uh. Nope. Not on my watch." He took both her hands and pulled her out of her chair. "It's my wedding reception!"
"No!" Amanda playfully gasped. "You got married?!"
"I know right?" His grin popped up again. "Come on. We need to dance."
"Wait!" Amanda struggled as he pulled her onto the dancefloor. "Max! I don't have my shoes on."
"So what? When has that ever stopped us before." He bent over and slipped his shoes off. "Now neither of us have shoes on."
She burst out laughing as he did a few slides across the dance floor. He smiled at her and held his hand out.
"Come on. You know I can't let this night end without a dance with you."
Amanda's heart ached. He was always saying something endearing like that. She knew he meant it which hurt even more. He just didn't mean it the way she'd always hoped he would.
She took his hand, twirling in his arms, and settled for this being her only chance to be near him one last time.
Though she knew they would dance together in the future, nothing would come close to this being the ultimate nail in the coffin where she kept her feelings buried.
In this moment, she allowed herself one last daydream of it being their wedding reception. Instead of the pink gown Nadia had made for her as Maxwell's best woman, she could pretend that it was a white dress. She could imagine that he would pull her close to his body, whisper how happy she'd made him, and then how much he was looking forward to their life together. There would have been the playful flirting and innuendos of what would happen once they left.
Everything that she'd once hoped would happen would have to be imagined right now, within the length of this one song.
And then it had to be forgotten forever.
She couldn't live the rest of her life secretly longing for a happily married man. And like she told Olivia, surely somewhere in this world there was a man who was her own perfect match. Though Maxwell seemed to be him, he sadly never saw her as anything other than a friend.
Please let there be someone who will see me as a desirable woman, she pleaded to the heavens. Just one man. That's all I ask. That he sees me, truly sees me, and falls madly in love with me.
Someone who can make me realize that love is more than what I feel for Maxwell.
"You are way too serious right now." Maxwell muttered near her ear.
"Sorry!" She automatically replied.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She forced a smile. "I suppose I feel a little melancholy."
"Why?" He gently shook her. "It's the happiest day of my life!"
She somehow kept her smile firmly in place. "I know. I suppose I am wishing my own happily ever after would come along."
"It will!" He squeezed her hand. "You are way too special to be single forever."
"You think so?"
"I know it." He winked at her. "Trust me. Some guy is going to come along, see you, and sweep you off your feet just like you deserve."
"I hope so." Her smile softened. "And I am thrilled you found someone truly worthy of you to love."
"Nadia's the best, isn't she?" His blue eyes found his bride.
When he caught her eye, he blew her a kiss.
Amanda nodded. "Yes, Nadia really is the best."
She meant it. If she had to lose the love of her life, at least it was to a woman who truly adored Maxwell as he deserved.
Still though...
It was killing her.
"Your grace?" Her butler, Hudson, tapped her shoulder. "Forgive me for interrupting, but the car is here."
"Thank you." Amanda looked up at Maxwell. "That's your cue, Groom."
"Honeymoon time?" He asked, his face lighting up once again.
She nodded, smiling once more. "You better grab your bride and get out of here."
He squeezed her in a tight hug then set off across the dance floor to do just that with Nadia.
"Wait!" Amanda snatched up his shoes and chased after him. "You forgot something!"
Maxwell chuckled as he took them from her. "I guess I do need those, huh?"
"They might come in handy." She teased.
"Or footy." He grinned when she groaned with an eye roll.
"I'll have everyone outside ready to send you off." Amanda promised. "Go get changed."
"Right!" He hurried off once more, stole Nadia away from her friend, Damien, and dashed upstairs.
Once the wedding guests were lined up along the main entrance to St Orella, Hudson opened the door for newly wedded couple.
The pair had nothing but smiles shining as they stopped here and there to hug and kiss loved ones. Good natured jokes and well wishes were shouted out making Maxwell and Nadia laugh as they hurried on towards the waiting town car.
Amanda stood close to it. She clutched the jacket her butler had given her earlier closer around her bare shoulders. It wasn't really cold outside, yet she felt chilled from what was about to happen. Tears were already threatening to spill out as she watched them. When they got to her, Nadia embraced her in a tight hug.
"Thank you so much for hosting our wedding! You made my dream a reality."
Amanda could only nod, hugging her back.
Nadia slipped into the car leaving Maxwell as the last to speak to her.
His excited smile softened as he looked at the woman he'd been friends with his entire life fight back her tears.
He pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her.
Amanda closed her eyes, breathing in his splash of cologne, and never wanted to be let go.
"How will I ever be able to thank you for this?" He whispered. "You went above and beyond to make this day special for me."
She laughed while shaking her head, tears spilling down her cheeks.
"You don't have to worry about that." She managed to say.
Amanda knew she needed to say a joke of some sort if they were to ever part.
"You helped keep me upright every time I was clumsy. Hosting your wedding seemed like the right form of pay back."
He laughed, kissing her cheek.
"I can live with that." He told her smiling.
"Me too." She pressed a tender kiss to his cheek.
"Bye, I'll see you soon." He told her on his way into the car.
"Goodbye." She mumbled.
Amanda stood there alone. She watched the car until it disappeared in the darkness. Her head dropped as more tears fell.
After all these years of loving Maxwell Beaumont, it was finally time for the next chapter of her life to begin.

So I'm bored 😁 Let's have some fun. (Only if you want, no pressure!)
Did Claire go to her HS prom? What about Ethan? Any of your other pairings?
What did they wear?
If you want, share any of the other character's prom wardrobes too.
So before I start, I HC that the high schools that my pairings went to all had junior/senior proms.
Also I am just doing the ones for my main pairings and not any other characters from OH or RCD or the pairings that I have made that I haven't explored/don't talk about often.
Also it took a while for me to find what photos I wanted and some background for each prom.
Brooklyn's Sophomore Dress

So Brooklyn was asked to prom her sophomore year by a junior and went as friends.
Neither of them really had an idea of what to wear so their moms got together and picked something out.
Her 'date' wore a blue suit.
He ended up talking to her when they arrived and then never talked/looked at her again for the rest of the night.
It was also her brother's (Parker's) senior prom, so she spent the night hanging out with him.
Parker may have also threatened Brooklyn's date for leaving her the Monday after prom.
Her hair looked like this

Brooklyn's Junior Dress

During Brooklyn's junior prom, she decided that she would hang out with a couple of her close friends.
She ended up going dress shopping with her mother (Anne) and sister (Elizabeth), which they made it a whole day thing as they also went shopping for other items.
Brooklyn ended up having a lot more fun at this prom as there were more people she knew there compared to last year.
Her hair looked like this

Brooklyn's Senior Dress

During her senior year, she was dating Benjamin Cameron who asked her to prom in November, even though it wasn't until the end of May.
Ben asked Brooklyn what she wanted and she said she wanted to do black and red.
She went dress shopping with a few friends and this ended up being the first dress she tried on.
Her accessories and shoes were all red or black, as well as her makeup.
She ended up winning prom queen this year.
Her hair looked like this

Thomas' Junior Suit

Thomas ended up asking a girl that he had a crush on to prom
She was very demanding and told him what he had to do for prom
Her and her mother ended up taking him shopping for the suit just to make sure that everything was perfect.
She also made him get ready at her house so she could have her mother do his hair.
For most of the night, she would make him do something for her, whether it was that he had to get her food or he had to be a leg rest or that he had to carry her to the bathroom and wait outside for her to be carried back to the table.
She also told him that he wasn't allowed to dance with her during most of the songs because she only wanted to dance with her friends and her twin sister's ex
So he ended up leaving early and got a bunch of messages from people, saying he was an asshole for leaving her alone.
Thomas' Senior Suit

Thomas was reluctant to go to his senior prom after what happened the previous year.
He ended up going with his friends who didn't have dates.
They stayed for only an hour and then went back to Thomas' house and played games for the rest of the night while most of the people at prom left and got drunk.
He also ended up taking one of his father's old suits.
Claire's Junior Dress

Claire was asked by her boyfriend, Asher Bradley on her birthday.
They went to prom as a double date with her best friend Adelaide and her boyfriend, Ryan Stevens.
She went dress shopping with Adelaide and her mom. (Claire's mom didn't come)
She paired this with other dark blue and black accessories.
Her hair looked like this

Claire's Senior Dress

Claire originally wasn't going to go to her senior prom as she had just broken up with Asher not too long before and they were going to go together.
Adelaide ended up convincing Claire to go with her and Ryan.
She again went with Adelaide and her mom for the dress (and Claire's mom didn't come this time either).
She ended up having a great time and had a sleepover at Adelaide's house. (Which ended up turning into a night of comforting Adelaide).
Her hair looked like this

Ethan's Senior Suit

Ethan did not go to his junior prom as he didn't see a point in it.
He wasn't even going to go to his senior prom until he heard his dad talking to someone about it and heard how sad he sounded that Ethan was planning on not going.
He ended up asking a girl who he had a few classes with to prom as friends (which she understood and agreed with).
He let her choose what they were going to wear and he was relived when she said that they were going to be wearing black and not a bright color.
He ended up having a fun time and his date won prom queen.
Surprisingly, he also ended up having his first kiss with her that night. If you don't count CPR bear
Adelaide's Junior Dress

Her boyfriend, Ryan Stevens asked her to prom during spring break.
They went as a double date with Claire and her boyfriend, Asher Bradley.
She paired it with white accessories
Her hair looked like this

Adelaide's Senior Dress

She was asked to prom again by Ryan over spring break.
She had Claire, Ryan and herself go as a little group since Claire had just broken up with Asher.
She again paired this with white accessories
This was also the first night she found out Ryan had cheated.
Her hair looked like this.

Tobias' Junior Suit

He went with a group of friends just to try and have some fun.
He ended up doing a dance battle with one of the seniors.
Tobias also won prom prince and danced with his crush who won prom princess.
Tobias' Senior Suit (Part 1)

Tobias went to prom with a family friend at their school.
She wanted the two of them to wear purple so he obviously agreed, even though he didn't like the shoes.
His date also won prom queen.
Tobias' Senior Suit (Part 2)

The prom at his school was after the other prom
He didn't go to this prom with her but went with friends again.
They all wore bright colored suits and he got orange.
He had lot of fun and got lifted and rode a wave of people.
He won prom king.
Any other questions?

A Royal County Day
Today was our first day of golf and what a day it was! RCD lived up to all expectations. The course was very challenging and everything you would expect from a links course of it’s reputation. Some things I found particularly surprised by was how fast and rolling the greens were and how some of the tougher holes had domed shaped greens that gave you very little landing area for your approach shots. The front nine of RCD has had endless articles written about it as being the best nine holes of golf ever designed. I’m not a golf expert but from my point of view it was a beautifully difficult test of golf!!
We had outstanding caddies, Patrick and Lenny. They knew the course well and one was a story teller and the other offered the inside gossip of the club. The course itself had huge heathered mounds that were flowering with a bright yellow type of gorse which made the scenery even the more dynamic. The deep blue sea running alone side the course, the mountains of Mourne forming a striking background and the variety of greens of the golf course itself sprinkled with the brown sand traps and the mounds of bright yellow gorse. Truly picturesque.
On the tenth hole, I thought our golf trip was going to come to a quick end as I scaled the side of huge green side mound or should a say almost a cliff, which was only suitable territory for a mountain goat, to attempt to deliver a spectacularly executed flop shot from a ball buried knee deep in the heather. I know, brilliant idea! After a swing and advancing the ball three feet further down the side of the mound. I made a second attempt and that was one attempt too many as I temporarily lost my balance and started to go over backwards but being the finely tuned athlete I am...not... I managed to catch myself and gingerly scaled down the mound of my hands, knees and feet!! That was Kim’s first I told you so moment of the trip! I hate when she’s right!!!
One of the interesting bits of info we found out during the round was that Eli and Peyton Manning had bought the five star hotel located a block or two away from the course. We were unable to get a room there because it was going through a major renovation which the Mannings are, of course, funding.
Some stats from the first round. I will being keeping a running total throughout the trip: (Kim prefers keeping hers to herself:-)
Score 97
Yardage Played - 6297
Lost Balls - 2
No. of Pars, Birdies, Eagles - 3 pars (I wouldn’t dare share the number of bogeys, double bogeys and worse:-) Remember I’m an 18 hdcp!
Steps - 14,389
Miles Walked - 6.2
Green Fee - $375
Caddie Fee - 60 pounds plus tax (These last two stats are a little tacky but I know you’re curious on what it’s going to cost you when you take your Irish Golf Vacation!!)
After the round, Kim and I headed to Quinn’s, a well known pub in Newcastle for a pint or two of Guinness and bar food! The atmosphere was what you would expect from a weathered old Irish pub. - Great vibe, good food and the friendliest people you’ll find anywhere!
Then back to The Briers for our last night stay before moving on to Portstewart. I think we’re close to shaking the jet lag which means tomorrow we’ll probably go low at the next course we play, Ardglass Golf Club. BTW Low means lower than the 97 I shot today!
Stay tuned!!
gb
PS - The pictures posted just don’t capture how rolling and massive some of the mounds are but they still give you an idea of the experience.

Do you have OCs?! Tell me about them?
aww, thanks for the ask!!! 🥰
My OCs… hmm, good question. I predominantly write my love interest with MC, but I actually have a few OCs too.
Olivia Hadley (Open Heart): She is romancing Bryce. I started her as “MC” and always had her time split between diagnostics and pediatrics, but I realized that was silly because I only ever wrote her in pediatrics. Plus, I wanted to be able to explore her and Bryce’s relationship outside of canon, so she is mostly an OC. She started the same year at Edenbrook as Bryce and the rest of the gang so they’re all still friends, but she is a pediatric resident. So she never was poisoned in OH2 and her and Bryce have a more domestic relationship than Bryce x MC (they live together with Keiki, too) You can learn more about Olivia here.
Bogart Hunt (Red Carpet Diaries) : he’s a dog but he’s totally a character. He has his own series of little drabbles and ficlets of all his puppy adventures with his family. He is a black lab pup and just the cutest (clearly I’m biased).
The other original characters are children:
Felicity and Vincent Hunt: are Thomas Hunt and RCD MC’s twins. They are super adorable and perfect and I love them (as do their parents).
Mal’s Orphanage (Blades of Light & Shadow)
Long before Mal had a canon orphanage I was head canoning and posting about Mal with an orphanage so the following are all children who were rescued and saved by Mal and my Blades MC Daenarya at their orphanage
Rayden & Lydo: brothers who were living on the streets of White Tower; Rayden is the cutest kid ever and I love him so much. Lydo is his older brother who was taken by the thieve’s guild
Fienna: is a little girl who was orphaned in Port Parnassus (her parents abandoned her). She spent a while sitting on the shore under the docks waiting for them to return or for the mermaids to come to take her away. (She wants to be a mermaid.)
Ovisa: She was introduced but, I haven’t said much about her yet. She will be the next child whose story I focus on in the Orphanage series.
There are a few other background or supporting OCs in the orphanage series like thieve guild guards and leaders, potential adopters, etc. but their stories aren’t really developed enough to warrant mentioning.
❤️Thanks again for the ask. This was fun!

This won't make you feel better, but this anon might have an explanation for the problems in Pixelberry's stories: essentially, I think it's because media and fandom culture in general has been hijacked by people with much older value systems, value systems where "whether behavior hurts people or not" was at best a secondary concern. The way Olivia is coddled, for example, does resemble how children used to be expected to be grateful to abusive parents for at least being given food and shelter.

Thank you for the ask anon.
Initially, when you'd sent the first ask, I'd had a different answer planned. Because sure, those kind of mindsets could very possibly factor in on how they treat a certain character type or trope...but it never actually happened with any sort of consistency. There were these invisible unspoken rules that certain characters would get away with breaking, and other characters would be punished for. So if there is no consistency in this treatment, how could I believe that it comes from a value/belief system that the writer holds, and nothing else comes into play?
Which brings me to the second thought you had. It's possible, yes, that the demographic they're hoping to cater to the most are the ones who may benefit the most from seeing white (and perhaps straight) characters thrive above others. The ones who will benefit from black and brown characters being placed on a heirarchy of worth - the most exoticized being the most "worthy" of "good treatment". But PB does benefit from a show of appreciating and celebrating diversity, and they do know it - as you can tell from the posts they were putting out during Black History Month last year:

(Thank you @nikkisha16 for helping me source these!)
This is a "nice gesture"....if we ignore the fact that only three out of the handful of default black characters featured at all. And if we ignore the fact that Griffin from this tiny list was hardly given an opportunity to use his skills in the biggest "disaster relief" diamond scene in the series, just to make more space for the white guy. Or that Luke's "alternative romance" arc was given more attention than the one where the MC chose him - to the point where we didn't get to see his mother (more attention to the alternative arc is often a surefire sign that the team is focusing on another LI and presuming said character as single by default, which is why you'll see more effort in the playthroughs where they're single). If the demographic you aim to please are the ones who may not notice or care about what actually happens to such characters in their respective stories...why this posturing? Why this pretence that you care?
It's not that PB is evilly rubbing their hands and contemplating on which character of colour to screw over today. It's very rarely as cut-and-dried as that. Very often it is just as possible that they don't know, or notice how some of these subconscious beliefs translate into their art. Ignorance of how damaging certain tropes can be for certain communities, and an unknowing favouritism towards certain characters based on their skin tone just as plausible causes for the mess we see in most stories of PB now. And a certain dismissiveness, would account for why it keeps happening despite people pointing out these problems. (I mean, this is the company that issued an apology on Twitter for Drake Walker calling a pink cake girly. And I don't recall them making apologies for anything else thus far)
It takes awareness to understand the cultural weight of some of these tropes and archetypes, and certain kinds of treatment in some cases. It also takes awareness to figure out ways to empower these characters within their stories and arcs! And I do believe for that kind of awareness to emerge in the storyboards and the office meetings...there (possibly? Idk what the PB office is like) would need to be more voices from varying communities in the rooms. For instance, look at this incredible interview by Chelsa Lauderdale on the experience of writing Griffin's character in The Elementalists:

Griffin is the rich, fullfilling character that he is because the writer brought her own experiences and worldview to that character. And you can see glimpses of that promise in so many different black and brown characters when they're given even half a chance. Kiara's ambition and logical bent of mind. Hana's loyalty and struggle to discover who she really is. Sloane's courage in taking on the world while battling an anxiety disorder. Teja's love for her craft and desire to excel in her field. Jax's protectiveness towards the underprivileged. Lily Spencer's humour and playfulness and recognition of those who have less privilege. William's (RoE) recognition of his work-home imbalance and his commitment to change that for this woman he loves. James Ashton's creativity and insecurities. Victoria's wisdom and her experience in the film industry. Aurora's desire to make a name that's her own, so that no one will ever view her as benefiting from her aunt's high position again. But unfortunately, we're often only allowed glimpses for a lot of these characters, rather than whole stories that use these traits as a foundation. Having writers from diverse backgrounds and with diverse experiences - not just a handful but many - with voices that will be embraced and respected, would go a long, long way in both pointing out these blind spots and in enriching the writing and stories themselves. Only a handful of writers cannot be burdened with the task of "educating" an entire company, but a vast team of diverse writers would mean there is an environment where they can more openly question and maybe shoot down more tone-deaf narrative choices.
@massivelysilentchaos made an amazing post about this sometime last year IIRC. A lot may have changed since this post, but there's plenty in it that still applies. More now than ever, I tend to go back to this one paragraph in her post (but please, please read the full thing):
I think a lot of PB’s problems with regard to representation in their writing could be helped by having more diversity on their writing staff. That’s not to say they don’t already have a fairly diverse staff (at least it looks that way from their blog) but some of their narrative choices are tone deaf in a way that tells me they could benefit from more black and brown perspectives on more of their stories. Specifically I’m thinking of the choices to have a book set in Trump country where an eventual protagonist pulls a gun on a potentially black MC or the recent decision to include the detail that Syphax, a black man who spent 8+ years at Lena’s scholae where MC was presumably taught to read and write, can’t read. Both of which were entirely unnecessary to the overall story they’re trying to tell and left a bad taste in mine and many other black fans’ mouths.
To add to this - I can speak, as a South Asian woman who was excited everytime a South Asian character appeared in a series - of Teja Desai getting one solitary scene to address her parents' initial doubts about her becoming a filmmaker, and one solitary scene about being a "woman in a boys club" as a director - which the writers never bothered to connect to her current work ethic - and being presented her as overworked, pressurized, frazzled by the punishing amount of work she was taking on - only for RCD's narrative to turn around and compare her to Marcus von Groot, the mediocre white male whose lack of control over his crew came from his own incompetence and delusions of grandeur (btw, in subsequent books he was written as this adorable funnyman the MC could bond and hang out with). I can talk of Jackie Varma, who was placed in a position where players could pick and choose between her and Bryce (with Bryce having more free scenes), before the narrative wrote her out for a large chunk of the story. Even in Book 2, scenes we get with her explore OUR backgrounds more than hers. Given that getting into medicine or engineering is such a huge deal in our communities, I can just imagine the ways in which that would tie up with Jackie's work ethic. And I know that many desi voices in that room would maybe make those connections and understand how to tie that into these stories.
I'd like to close this post with a quote from Chelsa that I showed you all earlier in this post: "Stories can perpetuate stereotypes or change narratives. That's really up to the people who write them". And perhaps, the people who hire the writers as well.
