I knew I wanted to keep with the flower theme, I initially was like “I have to use Alberta Ferretti!” But I felt that it was too similar to her original outfit. (outfits from Alberta Ferretti fall 2020 rtw pictured below)

I remember seeing this Rahul Mishra runway and thinking how beautiful these looks would be on dolls (seriously, go take a look at this runway it’s stunning) I knew it would be perfect for Monique.

I didn’t love the pants that matched with the flower top from Rahul Mishra’s look, they were too slim and I wanted something with more shape, similar to Monique’s first outfits bigger silhouette. I came across these Rodarte pants and thought the bottoms looked like flowers, and the movement of them on the runway was an automatic “yes! from me, definitely gives the dramatic, shiny, and flowery Monique look!

i keed seeing ppl say “whyd they change venus’ microbraids to locs” but as far as i can tell they were never microbraids in the first place ?? lol

the doll and artwork were closer to resembling twists than anything else🤷🏻‍♀️

the only braids she ever had were on the side of her head lmao

but the cartoon has a record of changing details from art to doll to cartoon anyways

no hate tho its probably hard to tell for someone who doesnt have the doll but i just wanted to clear up any confusion hehe👍🏻

maybe they wanted locs for the doll but couldnt really find a way to do that without making it look tacky or stiff so they went with twists on the small scale ? idk idk

I hate that disney iiy 4ever and barbie are the only playline fashion dolls making fashion packs anymore (and both are similarly sized). I know people have said it's because it's more profitable for companies to just make a new doll instead and to just buy dolls with cute outfits when they're on sale, but that feels so freakin wasteful!!! I don't have younger family members or neighbors, I don't do repaints or modding, and I don't have any thrift stores or charity shops anywhere close by, so what am I supposed to do with a naked doll that I don't like???

I hope that always bratz and monster high g3 will bring back fashion packs, but so far the most we've gotten from mh has been the extra outfits in the skulltimate secrets sets...

the idea is to restyle, display, and rotate dolls as i post them online. it's a good system for now but i am a little sad about having to take apart these looks and store em away for a while.

also while emi's fit should go together i'm not feeling it so i won't be posting individual pics of her outfit

If Lavender Lynn had a second outfit!

I love the full outfit from Rodarte spring 2019 but I also loved the Balmain jacket and I knew I wanted to keep her theme of leather and lace (and some spikes!) mixed together

I like both of the outfits individually but I thought combining them would be neat, the top from the Rodarte outfit would also be too big to fit under the jacket, but I love the cut of the Westwood bustier.

Also we need to pretend that the purples of the pieces all match up, or at least have similar tones to her first outfit, otherwise it does look a bit muddy! I’m not sure if the black shoes look good, the model in the Balmain runway is wearing black shoes so maybe it can work, they could also be there to match her glasses in a way.

got around to designing a second outfit for Karla as part of my quest to ensure all the RH/SH dolls get two sets of clothes to mess around with.

since Karla is apparently based around Karl Lagerfeld, which becomes real obvious once you know anything about how he dressed, i decided to take some elements from his designs, and combine them with her, like...office girl chic. the corset-style body suit is based around this mesh corset, the boots (whose colours i may inverse, looking at them now) are based on these boots, and her bracelets are based on this and this. the necklace is just based on the guy's propensity for layered necklaces.

not super sure about the suit jacket, but one feels necessary to tie stuff together, and i think the kind of...bewjewlled look RH/SH enploys on certain pieces would suit the other choices here.

the design choices here absolutely Do Not reflect my feelings towards Lagerfeld, but i'm trying to design second outfits from a couple of points of reference. one of these is trying to adhere to the style references that are implied by the first outfit's designs for each doll, which limited me a tiny bit to the Lagerfeld style here, and is why i pulled from 90s grungey skater style for Blu. the second point is that i want the pieces to allow for the mix-and-match elements of the earlier dolls' clothing, where each outfit worked as a solo set or could be blended.

the bodysuit would be a semi-translucent or mesh, pearly white tone, with sparkly signature-pink toned corset boning. the original piece is basically see-through barring the boning, but given that the RH dolls are teens, i tried to make it a little more modest while keeping the high-fashion elements, so the fabric and cut are a little altered, and it's a bodysuit instead of a corset to help keep it under her other clothes. the coat would be lined with satin, and...honestly, might be different in colour and exact cut when my mind's done rotating the concept and i get closer to being able to, uhh...actually make the things i'm dreaming up.

I haven't had doll energy in a while (hence the blog silence) but today I ordered the RuPaul monster high skullector, and that's launched me neatly back into doll mode.

I've decided I'm getting festival Frankie and welcome committee Frankie (if they ever drop 😭 the homophobia of it all) and giving them both top surgery mods. To that end, I dug through my Rainbow High clothes, and challenged myself to create as many dark masc styles for Frankie as I could. One of these (probably bottom right, but I think I'll try a few more mixes and matches before settling) is going on my current, core Frankie tomorrow
