Looks at the world of Indian fashion, exploring the work of such designers as Fightercock, Kavita Bharthia, and Gayatri Khanna and discusses the innovative techniques being used for textiles, sculptural draping, and pattern cutting.
Indian haute couture is conquering catwalks worldwide. For many, Indian fashion conjures multi-colored saris and gold embroidery, but the designers featured in this volume are turning that cliché on its head by creating global styles without losing sight of tradition. This book documents the scene, with an in-depth look at designers as diverse as Fightercock (a collaboration between Abhishek Gupta and Nandita Basu, who claim on one of their t-shirts that "The Revolution must wear Fightercock"), AtpuG varuaG (who won Breakthrough Designer of the Year at the MTV and Zoom Style Awards in 2006) and Kavita Bharthia (who is known for both Indian and Western styles, impeccably finished on handlooms, which incorporate cottons and silks, scarves, stoles and knits). Other featured designers include Gayatri Khanna, Anamika Khanna, Small Shop, Anuj Sharma, Ashish N Soni, Ayesha Depala, CUE, Deepika Govind, Drashta Sarvaiya, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Manish Arora, Nachiket Barve, Namrata Joshipura, Nimita Rathod, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Prashant Verma, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Ranna Gill, My Village, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Savio Jon, Shantanu & Nikhil, Shantanu Goenka, Swapnil Shinde, Varun Bahl, Wendell Rodricks and Bounipun. Contemporary Indian Fashion offers a host of experimental techniques for textiles, pattern cutting and sculptural draping, as well as the mixing of natural and synthetic fibers and unlikely juxtapositions such as jersey or chiffon with leather.

Fashion designers: Anamika Khanna, Manish Arora, Zubair Kirmani, Gaurav Gupta, Prashant Verma, Drashta Sarvaya, Cue by Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Ashish N Soni, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, My Village / Rimzim Dadu, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Varun Bahl, Kavita Bhartia, Namrata Joshipura, Nachiket Barve, Shantanu Goenka, Ranna Gill, Nimita Rathod, Shantanu & Nikhil, Anuj Sharma, Swapnil Shinde, Small Shop.

Crew: A Comedy Conquering the Box Office with Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon
Hey there, movie buffs and comedy lovers! If you haven't caught wind of the latest buzz, let me fill you in on the hilarious journey of "Crew" at the box office.
Picture this: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon leading a comedy-heist film. Sounds like a recipe for a blockbuster, right? Well, "Crew" is living up to expectations and then some.
Tumblr media
As we hit the shores of day four at the box office, "Crew" is proving to be a survivor, braving the turbulent Monday test with finesse. With a solid opening weekend under its belt, this comedy flick showcased its mettle on Monday, raking in a cool Rs 4.50 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
But let's rewind a bit. "Crew" kicked off its cinematic journey with a bang, surprising even the trade pundits with a whopping opening of Rs 10.28 crore nett. And guess what? The momentum only soared higher over the weekend, notching up Rs 10.87 crore and Rs 11.45 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Talk about laughter ringing in the cash registers!
Now, let's zoom out a bit and look at the global picture. Internationally, "Crew" is making waves, clocking in at $2.8 million (that's roughly Rs 23 crore) by the end of the weekend. With Monday's collections added to the mix, we're looking at a global gross crossing the Rs 70 crore mark. Impressive, right?
And the good news doesn't stop there. With no new releases slated for the upcoming Friday, "Crew" is poised for a strong first week at the box office. Looks like the crew is sailing smoothly into the second weekend!
Now, let's talk numbers. With a budget of Rs 75 crore and an additional Rs 15 crore spent on publicity and advertisement, "Crew" is making its mark both on and off-screen. And if the current trends are any indication, we're looking at a lifetime run in the range of Rs 70-80 crore.
But behind every successful film is a powerhouse team, and "Crew" is no exception. Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, this laugh riot is helmed by director Rajesh Krishnan, with special appearances by Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma adding to the comedic charm.
So, whether you're in the mood for a heist or simply craving a good laugh, "Crew" promises to deliver. With its stellar cast, rib-tickling humor, and box office dominance, it's safe to say that "Crew" has all the makings of a comedy classic. Don't miss the fun – grab your popcorn and join the crew on their wild ride!

Exploring Beautiful Kitchens (Part 1)
The Bawarchi Khana, also known as the kitchen, is undeniably one of the most vital rooms in any home...
It's in the kitchen that we cook, sometimes eat, and where those gifted with culinary prowess craft fantastic recipes. Some of us may feel hopeless in the kitchen, declaring 'there's nothing here' when opening the fridge, while others effortlessly create amazing meals from leftovers. Regardless of your culinary abilities, the kitchen is a space where many of us spend a significant amount of time. It can become a place where families gather, as vividly depicted in the 1972 Bollywood movie 'Bawarchi,' starring Rajesh Khanna, Jaya Bachchan, and Arani, with narration by Amitabh Bachchan
Bawarchi' tells the story of the Sharma family, perpetually embroiled in squabbles and led by the eccentric Daduji, who can't keep a chef due to his mistreatment of staff. Their reputation spreads, making it impossible to hire a chef until Raghu, portrayed by the late Rajesh Khanna, offers his services. Raghu rises to the challenges, endearing himself to the family members. He defuses arguments, reunites the family, and brings them closer together. However, when the family jewels mysteriously vanish, Raghu disappears too.
This story underscores the power of a kitchen to unite people and inspire. Now, let's explore some stunning kitchens from around the world.
