Flutter is an open-source mobile application development framework created by Google. It was launched in 2017 and has been gaining popularity ever since. Flutter uses a programming language called Dart, which is easy to learn and fast in terms of performance. Flutter has several advantages over other cross-platform app development frameworks, including a faster development cycle, a more expressive and flexible UI, and hot reload capabilities that allow developers to see the changes they make to the code in real time. In addition to these advantages, Flutter also offers a wide range of mobile app development services, including custom app development, app migration, and Flutter app consulting.

Native vs. Cross-platform app development
Tumblr media
The mobile app industry worldwide has undergone some major changes in the past few years. In 2017, Android and iOS, the two most popular operating systems used for smartphones, held a market share of 85.1% and 14.8%, respectively.
As of March 2018, there were 3.8 million Android apps in Google Play and 2 million iOS apps in Apple’s App Store.
With so much mobile app demand, programmers are having to work out new ways to stay one step ahead of the game. They’re searching for tools to cross the iOS-Android divide and provide exceptional performance, easy navigation, and great visual appeal that mobile app users usually demand. This is why cross-platform options are getting popular and functional.
Most development companies now utilize mobile apps as a platform for raising brand awareness, not a business of their own. With the increasing adoption of AI solutions (namely chatbots, smart wallets, messengers, etc.) experts even start to discuss mobile apps’ future!
Amid the controversy and chaos, the native vs. cross-platform” mobile app development topic is very popular nowadays.
Let’s get into a talk about the differences between native and cross-platform applications.
Native app development
Native applications are developed using platform-specific programming languages. For example, some programming languages that can be utilized for developing Android apps include Java, Kotlin.
Objective-C and Swift are the languages used for the iOS mobile operating system. The native apps are developed specifically to be run on the target platform — with the support of all the native technologies and other hardware components such as camera and calendar.
Cross-platform apps are mostly developed by using React Native, Flutter, Ionic, Xamarin, and many more.
Advantages of Native mobile apps
High performance
Since the technologies utilized in developing native applications are platform-specific, the native code experiences direct access to the host’s operating system and functionalities.
This exceptional interaction with the native features of the mobile devices provides the high performance of the application, especially when rendering graphics or multimedia content.
Therefore, developing complex applications using native code could decrease the risks of downtimes from crashes or freezes.
Better User Interface
Since native apps integrate with the mobile operating system efficiently, customers are able to navigate a familiar interface without many problems, resulting in high user experiences (UX) and repeated use.

There are significant differences between React.js and React Native. React.js is used for building web applications using JavaScript, while React Native is used for building native mobile applications using JavaScript and React. React.js creates user interfaces (UI) on the web using a set of components. In contrast, React Native builds native mobile applications for iOS and Android using mobile components. React.js applications are rendered using web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while React Native applications are rendered using native components. In this article, you can read more about these two frameworks.

Flutter vs React Native - Choosing the best tool for your startup
Tumblr media
With the increase in the demand for mobile applications, a large number of #enterprises are shifting their focus towards #mobileappdevelopment. Introduction of new #technologies, #platforms, and #frameworks is allowing mobile app developers to create revolutionary mobile apps. Cross-Platform App Development has gained a lot of popularity in recent times as it enables developers to develop apps for multiple platforms like #Android,  #iOS, #Windows with a single code base. #ReactNative is one of the most famous Cross Platform for mobile app development introduced by #Facebook and it has one of the largest active developers community. However, #Google introduced its own Software Development Kit (SDK) #Flutter at Google I/O Developer Conference 2017.
Here is the comparison between Flutter and React Native - http://bit.ly/2Owg8ap #softwaredevelopment #sdk #io #itdevelopment

New Package Moniker rules
We've recently made some changes to how package naming works to better fight typosquatting, and help package authors pick names that stand out.
You might have read our post earlier about typosquatting on the npm registry. We responded to this incident with some internal tooling that identifies new packages with names similar to existing ones. We've been reviewing these by hand and taking action in a few cases. Some trends we have noticed in these packages led us to believe that we can encourage package naming that better suits the needs of both registry users and package authors. Specifically, you can no longer publish packages that differ from existing packages in punctuation only.
Package names can include punctuation like dots, dashes, and underscores (., -, _). Punctuation can make package names readable! For example react-native is a more readable name than reactnative would be. However, many typosquat names either accidentally or on purpose use punctuation differences to sneak through. For example, until this change it was possible to typosquat react-native by publishing reactnative. Under our new naming rules, however, this is disallowed.
Read on for details about the change.
The new rules
If you are publishing a new package—that is, a package that has not been in the registry before—we remove punctuation from its name and compare it to existing package names. If the names are identical without punctuation, we do not allow the package to be created. Instead, we suggest that you publish the package with that name under your own scope. You can, of course, also find a new name that’s sufficiently different from an existing package, but using your own scope is a fast way to do that.
Here are some examples of how this comparison works.
Because react-native exists, no one can publish variations like:
reactnative
react_native
react.native
Similarly, because jsonstream exists, no one can publish variations like:
json-stream
json.stream
json_stream
js-on-stream
Use a scope!
If you are prevented from publishing a package with a name too similar to an existing package, the easiest way to find a unique name is to use your scope. You can scope packages to your npm account by putting @ + your npm user name in front of the name. For example, my npm user name is ceejbot, so my scope is @ceejbot.
Publishing public packages to your own scope is free for everyone! Here’s how to do it:
Here I have been told that json-stream is too similar to an existing package, so I need to find a new name. First, I edit my package.json to add my npm user name as a scope:
{ "name": "json-stream" }
becomes
`{ "name": "@ceejbot/json-stream" } `
Next, I publish the package. Scoped packages default to private, so I pass the flag --access=public to make this package public:
> npm publish --access=public + @ceejbot/[email protected]
Everyone can publish public scoped packages to the npm registry, but to publish private packages you’ll need a paid subscription. For more information on working with scoped packages, check out our docs.
A little bit of history
The history of package names in the npm registry is a tale of cautiously-added restrictions over time. In its earliest days, npm allowed packages to have use any url-safe character in their names, including upper and lower case. You can’t create new packages with upper-case letters in the name any more, but packages with upper-case letters in their names are still in the registry and still in use. Package names that differ only in case were our first encounter with accidental typosquatting!
The example most people are likely to encounter is jsonstream. The packages JSONStream and jsonstream are different but difficult to distinguish. These packages also cause problems if you are installing them on case-insensitive filesystems, such as the file systems on most OS X computers.
Not every url-safe character is allowed any more. You can use the package validate-npm-package-name to check if your package name uses allowed characters. You’ll need to do a search of the registry to figure out if the name you’d like is already in use, however.
Good package names help everyone
We hope this new restriction on names helps package authors pick names that stand out and helps users avoid getting the wrong package by accident. If you have any questions/comments/concerns, shoot us a note at [email protected] or tweet at us @npm_support.
