I've been a local PHP community/meetup organizer for about 10 years, and I also run Discord/Telegram groups on the same topic. I was thinking, why not start a PHP Tumblr community as well? If you want to join, follow https://www.tumblr.com/communities/phpeanuts

Built a Mini Robot

Wednesday 6th March 2024
I bought a kit online a while ago because I felt like wanting to build something. And this is the lil robot that I made last night! She’s a rover kind of robot so she just zooms around!
I’m so glad I got to complete this kit and I’m already wanting to buy more to keep myself busy that’s not programming all the time haha 😅😇

Hello, not the person who sent the origonal ask, but, PHP is a programming language
It used to stand for "Personal HomePage", which was bad, but got changed to the recursive initialism "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor", which is worse
Its mascot is a elephant
biochemists are bad at naming things, and once i heard someone joke that the day we run out of 3-letter acronyms we will simply have to stop studying biochem. i think this name may be worse than most – if not all – biochemistry acronyms.
letter sequence in this ask matching protein-coding amino acids:
HellntthepersnwhsenttherignalasktPHPisaprgramminglangageItsedtstandfrPersnalHmePagewhichwasadtgtchangedttherecrsiveinitialismPHPHypertetPreprcessrwhichiswrseItsmasctisaelephant
protein guy analysis:
there are some interesting attempts at secondary structure here. now of course, interesting doesn't mean good, and the confidence of this structure is consistently bad throughout, but they are weird to look at. there are a few half-hearted attempts at alpha helices that don't even make a full turn. much more exciting to see though is a beta sheet, even if it is small, since those are much more rare on this page. it does look weirdly squiggly, but since this isn't real anyways i think we can just decide that it adds some whimsy. finally, there is a long hydrophilic tail at the back of the image, which i think is about exactly as expected.
predicted protein structure:

Fun Hebrew fact ג: "double-colon"
A little background in programming: plenty of programming languages make a use of the following operator:
::
Which is basically just the colon symbol twice in a row.
This operator has a name: The scope resolution operator (named after what it's meant to signify, I won't get into it)
But, this operator happened to have another, fairly-commonly-used name.
You see, there's a programming language called PHP which was mostly developed in Israel back in the day (by Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans from the Technion in Haifa. Side note: the language was created by the Danish-Canadian programmer Rasmus Lerdorf).
And PHP was one of the first languages to use the scope resolution operator [source needed].
So these two Israelis, when they had to look for a name for that operator - they decided to call it פעמיים נקודותיים, Hebrew for "double-colon". and in English? paamayim nekudotayim. they didn't bother translating it.
And to this very day, there are PHP error message which include the term "paamayim nekudotayim", and to this very day there are people using that term, often without even knowing it's Hebrew.
So that is how Hebrew found its way into programming.
Sidenote: It's actually supposed to be pa'amayim nekudatayim (unless there's some type of Ashke pronounciation that i'm not aware of, which is fairly possible), and this is a common Israeli mistake (using the plural form instead of the singular before the ayim suffix, which means "two").
Bonus: people complaining about the term on Stack Overflow, a website where people ask for help with programming:

Another bonus: PHP's icon becauae I kinda like it:

PWHP (People Who Have Penises), or IWHP (Individuals Who Have Penises), is a term for anyone who has a penis, regardless of gender. Other terms used for this concept include PHP (People Having Penises); PEPs (Penile People); or, formerly, POP (People of Penises) and IOP (Individuals of Penises) PWHP includes individuals who have had a penis from birth and individuals who have had sex reassignment surgery to create a penis. The term includes most cisgender men, non-binary individuals who have penis either from birth or through sex reassignment surgery, transgender women who are transine or pre-transition, some intersex individuals, transgender men and other transmasculine individuals who have had sex reassignment surgery, and some transsex/altersex/AFAB-P women. PWHP is a term designed to combat the ideology that having a penis is what makes one a man and to promote gender-neutral language and terms. The term also allows simplicity in describing genitalia in medical situations, such as sex education, where describing individuals as "male" may ignore the existence of intersex and transgender folk.
PWHV (People Who Have Vaginas), or IWHV (Individuals Who Have Vaginas), is a term for anyone who has a vagina, regardless of gender. Other terms used for this concept include PHV (People Having Vaginas); VAPs (Vaginal People); or, formerly, POV (People of Vaginas/People of Vulvas) and IOV (Individuals of Vaginas) PWHV includes individuals who have had a vagina from birth and individuals who have had sex reassignment surgery to create a vagina. The term includes most cisgender women, non-binary individuals who have a vagina (either from birth or through sex reassignment surgery), transgender men who are transine or pre-transition, some intersex individuals, transgender women and other transfeminine individuals who have had sex reassignment surgery, and some transsex/altersex/AMAB-V men. PWHV is a term designed to combat the ideology that having a vagina is what makes one a woman, and to promote gender-neutral language and terms. The term also allows simplicity in describing genitalia in medical situations, such as sex education, where describing individuals as "female" may ignore the existence of intersex and trans individuals.
PWHN (People Who Have Neither), or IWHV (Individuals Who Have Neither), is a term for anyone who has neither a penis nor vagina, regardless of gender. Other terms used for this concept include PHN (People Having Neither) or, formerly, PON (People of Neither) and ION (Individuals of Neither) PWHN includes individuals who were born neither with a penis nor a vagina and individuals who have had sex reassignment surgery and have neither a penis nor a vagina. The term includes some intersex individuals, transneutral individuals who have have sex reassignment surgery (to a neutral sex), and some transsex/altersex men and women. PWHN is a term designed to combat the ideology that having a penis is what makes one a man and having a vagina is what makes one a woman, and is made promote gender-neutral language and terms. The term also allows simplicity in describing genitalia in medical situations, such as sex education, where describing individuals as "intersex" may ignore the existence of altersex and trans individuals.
Flags for PWHP (people who have penises), PWHV (people who have vaginas) and PWHN (people who have neither) for those who'd like to use them!
These are inclusive of anybody who has a penis/vagina/neither, whether you were born with it or required it with surgery
Obviously you don't have to use these, these are just for people who want to

Monday 4th March 2024 - [ Week 1 Day 2 ]
Finally figured out how to get the server working. Had to install some VSCode and Chrome extensions to make sure each refresh works!
Still haven't figured out how to get VSCode to run my PHP code just in the console. So, I'll just use those online PHP sandbox/compiler to work on that side of PHP!
Didn't learn too much on PHP programming itself today but at least I got the PHP to work locally!
💌 Day 2: What are your three goals with learning PHP?
Build a simple website using PHP
Build a simple console app with PHP
Still have an interest learning PHP after the challenge!
