I don’t normally post wips outside of my story but the only thing I have left to do is replace the text in photoshop. I’m with my mom while she’s recovering from surgery and I just have clip studio on my iPad. That and this has been a foil piece for awhile now (forgot to post) minus the bottom. The red rocks was an addition I drew this week after the concert for all the wonderful people I met that made the day so memorable. The moon was crescent and we had some rain clouds but the Amphitheatre was full of our red light for projekt chokehold (from projekt Atlantic) while Vessel sang. I want to go back!
I will be hand foiling this variant in silver and red foil instead of the typical single color holofoil

The Folsom people are believed to be the first to discover the geologic marvel, which was a subsequent gathering place for the Ute, Southern Cheyenne and Southern Arapaho tribes. In the years since, Red Rocks has hosted the biggest names in music while gaining fame in its own right as one of the Natural Wonders of the World. A pair of 300-foot monoliths, known as Ship Rock (stage right) and Creation Rock (stage left), help produce the site’s pristine sound.

I saw Sleep Token at Red Rocks on Sunday.
Red Rocks as a nature park is significant to me because we used to go there every single weekend as a small day trip. I had not been in the area for about ten years until the show.
Sleep Token is also a band significant to me because of how deeply and personally I resonate with the music. Seeing them at Red Rocks was an experience, and the leg cramps from standing in line all day were worth it.
Sorry for my bad photos. I was GA row 75.

Never been so pumped for a concert. Avoiding spoilers for the setlist and banter and everything. Talking to other fans and planning to hand out stickers and maybe plan a nice lunch beforehand. Might hike a bit up at red rocks! Been trying to plan an outfit for a month now. Other people are making bracelets and stickers and perlers. Seeing peoples outfits is making me so excited and also wow porters fan base is so diverse and fun and I love it so much. Going with 2 coworkers who I only befriended because we wrote song references on the work whiteboard. So blessed!! So excited!!! Eek!!!

Unveiling Your "3 Steps to Scalp Wellness": The Natural Magic of Flaxseed & Amla
Tumblr media
Audio Overview
The quest for vibrant, healthy hair often leads down a path filled with countless products and promises. Yet, the true secret to luscious locks might lie not in the latest chemical concoction, but in nurturing the very foundation from which hair springs: the scalp. Many experience the frustration of an itchy, dry, or unbalanced scalp, which can, in turn, lead to dull, lifeless hair. This series embarks on a journey to rediscover scalp health through the power of nature, focusing on a conceptual "3 steps to wellness" approach, illuminated by two ancient yet remarkably effective ingredients: flaxseed and a revered botanical often referred to as "alma," more accurately known as Amla or Indian Gooseberry. These natural treasures have been celebrated for centuries and are making a significant comeback in modern, holistic hair care.
Decoding "3 Steps to Wellness" for Your Scalp: A Simple, Powerful Framework
The phrase "3 steps to wellness," as it relates to scalp health with flaxseed and Amla, may not point to a singular, pre-packaged product. Instead, it can be understood as a holistic and empowering framework for achieving and maintaining a healthy scalp. This structured approach resonates with a common desire for clear, actionable plans when pursuing health and beauty goals. The existence of concepts like a "Biotin three-step wellness plan" 1, though for different products, highlights that a multi-step system is a recognized and appealing way to address wellness concerns. Such frameworks offer guidance and can make the journey toward better scalp health feel more manageable and achievable.
This conceptual "3 Steps to Scalp Wellness" can be envisioned as:
Nourish & Prepare: This initial step focuses on feeding the scalp with essential nutrients, both from within and through gentle, targeted topical applications. It’s about creating the optimal environment for health.
Soothe & Treat: This stage addresses specific scalp concerns such as dryness, irritation, or imbalance. It involves using ingredients that calm inflammation and promote a harmonious scalp ecosystem.
Protect & Style: The final step involves utilizing natural ingredients that not only help style the hair but also continue to offer protective and beneficial properties to both the hair and scalp, shielding them from environmental stressors.
Flaxseed and Amla seamlessly integrate into this framework. Their rich nutritional profiles provide deep nourishment, their inherent properties soothe and treat common scalp ailments, and they can be incorporated into preparations that protect and even help style the hair naturally.

Meet Flaxseed: The Tiny Seed with Mighty Hair & Scalp Benefits
Flaxseed, derived from the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), is a tiny yet formidable seed with a history of cultivation dating back to ancient civilizations like Babylon around 3000 BC.3 Beyond its historical uses in textiles and nutrition, flaxseed has gained reverence in the realm of natural hair care. These small seeds are nutritional dynamos, packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, protein, and fiber.2
These components are far from mere buzzwords; they are crucial for fostering a healthy scalp and resilient hair. Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), are known for their potent anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties.2 Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect hair follicles from oxidative stress and supports scalp health.2 The fiber and protein content contribute significantly to the hair's inherent strength and structure.2 Indeed, flaxseed is recognized as a hydrator and anti-inflammatory agent suitable for all hair types, especially beneficial for thin or brittle hair.2 Its rich nutrient profile, including B vitamins and Biotin, further bolsters its reputation for enhancing moisture, strength, and overall scalp vitality.3
An important aspect of flaxseed's contribution to wellness is its dual-action capability. Its benefits are not confined to topical applications alone; flaxseed is widely consumed for its internal health advantages. It can be taken orally on a daily basis, while topical applications, such as gels or oils, can be used weekly.2 This ability to nourish from both the inside out and the outside in 2 reinforces its holistic "wellness" credentials, positioning flaxseed as more than just a cosmetic ingredient. It suggests a comprehensive approach to beauty and health, where internal nourishment and external care work in concert.
Introducing Amla: Ayurveda's Ancient Secret for Glorious Hair (Yes, "Alma" is Amla!)
The term "alma" in the context of hair care almost certainly refers to Amla, scientifically known as Emblica officinalis, and more commonly called Indian Gooseberry. This clarification is supported by anecdotal evidence where "Alma powder" was used in a flaxseed gel recipe, likely being a colloquial reference to Amla.7 Amla is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional system of healing from India, where it has been revered for centuries as a potent remedy for a myriad of ailments and as an exceptional tonic for hair.8 It is often hailed as a ‘superfood’ for hair due to its remarkable therapeutic properties.9
Amla’s power lies in its incredibly rich nutritional composition. It is one of the most concentrated natural sources of Vitamin C, and is also abundant in tannins, antioxidants, iron, calcium, and phosphorus.8 Vitamin C is vital for the synthesis of collagen, a protein essential for skin and scalp cell regeneration, and for maintaining the integrity of hair follicles.8 Tannins, another key component, have the unique ability to bind to the keratin proteins in hair, offering a protective shield against environmental damage and strengthening the hair structure.9 The wealth of antioxidants in Amla combats free radical damage, which can otherwise accelerate the aging of hair follicles and lead to hair degradation.8
The deep-seated tradition of Amla within Ayurveda lends it a significant measure of trust and perceived efficacy. In an age where consumers are often wary of synthetic chemicals and fleeting beauty trends, ancient wellness systems like Ayurveda offer an anchor of reliability and time-tested wisdom.8 This historical validation, passed down through generations, makes individuals seeking natural and safe remedies more receptive to Amla's benefits. Its Ayurvedic heritage is not merely a historical footnote but a powerful endorsement of its natural efficacy.
The "Natural" Promise: Are Flaxseed and Amla Truly Au Naturel?
A common and valid question in the pursuit of natural remedies is whether the ingredients are genuinely "natural" or have undergone extensive processing that diminishes their purity.
Flaxseed, when used for hair care, typically comes in the form of whole seeds or as an oil. For safe human use, flaxseed oil is extracted through cold-pressing, a method that preserves its nutritional integrity without the use of harsh solvents.3 This minimal processing ensures that the oil retains its beneficial compounds, making it a truly natural ingredient.3
Similarly, Amla powder is generally produced by drying and grinding the Amla fruit or, in some cases, its leaves.8 This process results in a direct plant derivative, maintaining its natural composition. High-quality Amla powders are often marketed as "100% natural and vegan, chemicals free," underscoring their purity.11
When selecting these ingredients, opting for pure, and if possible, organic sources is advisable. This helps to avoid potential additives, pesticides, or contaminants that could compromise their natural benefits. Understanding the minimal processing methods involved—such as cold-pressing for flaxseed oil 3 and simple grinding for Amla powder 11—provides transparency and substantiates the "natural" claim beyond mere labeling. This level of detail caters to discerning individuals who look for genuine, unadulterated natural options.
The Wellness Connection: More Than Just Hair Deep
Embracing flaxseed and Amla in a hair care routine transcends mere cosmetic enhancement; it represents a commitment to a holistic approach to wellness. It is about consciously choosing ingredients that are not only effective but also kind to the body and the environment. The act of preparing and applying these natural treatments can transform into a mindful self-care ritual, a moment of connection with nature's bounty that contributes to overall well-being.
This journey into natural scalp care has just begun. The next step will delve deeper into the specific superpowers of flaxseed and provide a practical guide to creating a wonderfully nourishing and effective DIY flaxseed styling gel. Prepare to roll up your sleeves and whip up some natural magic for the scalp and hair!
