Hi there, I have downloaded and tried installing several different iso’s of redhat, versions 8 and 9. Unfortunately, my computer will not boot from the CD; other CD’s will boot however, so I know the drive is good. I have a disc one iso for version that I downloaded a few years back and it runs but I can’t find disc two to continue the installation. If it helps, my computer is a Compaq desktop with a i845 chipset. It does meet the requirements for the system but for some reason, I can’t get any of the iso’s I’ve downloaded to work! Please help!!!!!

First of all, did you verify the MD5 file checksum of the ISO images you’ve downloaded?

If the file checksum is valid, then I suspect you didn’t “burn” the ISO image correctly onto the CD/DVD-ROM.

Otherwise, the images hosted by the official site might have corrupted.

Log collector performance

The Log collector can successfully handle log capacity of up to 50 GB per hour. The main bottlenecks in the log collection process are:

Network bandwidth - Your network bandwidth determines the log upload speed.

I/O performance of the virtual machine - Determines the speed at which logs are written to the log collector's disk. The log collector has a built-in safety mechanism that monitors the rate at which logs arrive and compares it to the upload rate. In cases of congestion, the log collector starts to drop log files. If your setup typically exceeds 50 GB per hour, it's recommended that you split the traffic between multiple log collectors.

Set up and configuration

Step 1 – Web portal configuration: Define data sources and link them to a log collector

Go to the Automatic log upload settings page.

In the Cloud App Security portal, click the settings icon followed by Log collectors.

For each firewall or proxy from which you want to upload logs, create a matching data source.

Click Add data source.

Name your proxy or firewall.

Select the appliance from the Source list. If you select Custom log format to work with a network appliance that isn't listed, see Working with the custom log parser for configuration instructions.

Compare your log with the sample of the expected log format. If your log file format doesn't match this sample, you should add your data source as Other.

Set the Receiver type to either FTP, FTPS, Syslog – UDP, or Syslog – TCP, or Syslog – TLS.

Note

Integrating with secure transfer protocols (FTPS and Syslog – TLS) often requires additional settings or your firewall/proxy.

Deploy the collector image on the hosting machine by importing the collector configuration. Import the configuration by copying the run command generated in the portal. If you need to configure a proxy, add the proxy IP address and port number. For example, if your proxy details are 192.168.10.1:8080, your updated run command is:

Verify that the collector is running properly with the following command: docker logs <collector_name>

You should see the message: Finished successfully!

Step 3 - On-premises configuration of your network appliances

Configure your network firewalls and proxies to periodically export logs to the dedicated Syslog port or the FTP directory according to the directions in the dialog. For example:

Check the collector status in the Log collector table and make sure the status is Connected. If it's Created, it's possible the log collector connection and parsing haven't completed.

You can also go to the Governance log and verify that logs are being periodically uploaded to the portal.

Alternatively, you can check the log collector status from within the docker container using the following commands:

Log in to the container by using this command: docker exec -it <Container Name> bash

Verify the log collector status using this command: collector_status -p

Optional - Create custom continuous reports

Verify that the logs are being uploaded to Cloud App Security and that reports are generated. After verification, create custom reports. You can create custom discovery reports based on Azure Active Directory user groups. For example, if you want to see the cloud use of your marketing department, import the marketing group using the import user group feature. Then create a custom report for this group. You can also customize a report based on IP address tag or IP address ranges.

In the Cloud App Security portal, under the Settings cog, select Cloud Discovery settings, and then select Continuous reports.

Click the Create report button and fill in the fields.

Under the Filters you can filter the data by data source, by imported user group, or by IP address tags and ranges.

Сами инструменты были хорошо проработаны, они удобны в использовании. Если к этому добавить хороший рендеринг в Modo, то понятно, почему многие в нем работают.

Очевидно, что команда разработчиков хорошо постаралась, чтобы сделать программу по-настоящему интуитивно понятной, а качественные рендеры создаются с помощью минимальных усилий. Red Hat Linux affected by critical vulnerability

Red Hat recently announced a severe vulnerability in its DHCP client, CVE-2018-1111 could be exploited by malicious actors to execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges on specific systems.

A member of the information security team of Google, Felix Wilhelm, found a critical vulnerability of remote injection of commands in the implementation of Red Hat Linux DHCP client; the problem also affects other distributions, such as Fedora.

Malicious hackers could exploit the vulnerability, CVE-2018-1111, to execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges on specific systems.

“Red Hat is aware of a command injection vulnerability found in a script included in the DHCP client packages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7.” says the Red Hat security advisory.

“A malicious DHCP server, or a malicious actor in the local network capable of impersonating DHCP responses, can use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges on systems using NetworkManager that is configured to obtain network configuration using the protocol DHCP. ”

Information security professionals comment that the DHCP client application receives the network configuration parameters, including the IP address and DNS servers, from the DHCP server (Dynamic Host Control Protocol).

The injection failure of the CVE-2018-1111 command falls on the NetworkManager integration script of the DHCP client packages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

The information security researcher Barkın Kılıç published a PoC for the CVE-2018-1111, where you can see how the attacker accesses the shell as root.

Felix Wilhelm did not show a PoC exploit code, but said that it is so short that it can even fit in a tweet.

The security expert said that a hacker using a malicious DHCP server or connected to the same network as the victim can use this vulnerability by falsifying DHCP responses, allowing him to execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges in the system of the victim running the vulnerable DHCP client.

As mentioned in the security advisor, the vulnerability affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7. It is recommended that administrators update their packages to the newer versions as soon as possible.

Red Hat also said that, “Users also have the option to remove or disable the vulnerable script, but this will prevent some configuration parameters provided by the DHCP server from being configured on a local system, such as the addresses of local servers in NTP or NIS.”

The information security expert said that, some Linux distros like OpenSUSE and Ubuntu are not strained by the vulnerability because their DHCP client implementation doesn’t include NetworkManager integration script by default. The experts leave us the full list of affected RHEL versions:

Red Hat Announced Release Of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2

Red Hat, a leading provider of open source technology, announced the newest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2. This announcement comes on the heels of yesterday's release of new Red Hat Software Collections 2.1 and Red Hat Developer Toolset 4, both of which are fully compatible with the 7.2 update.

According to the company, this 7.2 release focused primarily on security, networking and system administration improvements. "With the launch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 in June 2014, Red Hat redefined the enterprise open source operating system. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 continues this effort, delivering new capabilities for containerized application deployments and significant networking enhancements while retaining our focus on delivering a stable, reliable and more secure platform for the most critical of business applications," said Jim Totton, Vice President and General Manager, Platforms Business Unit, Red Hat.

On the security front, 7.2 offers a new OpenSCAP Anaconda plug-in that allows for the use of SCAP-based security and configuration during the install process. This creates a secure starting point for system deployments. In addition, continuing security concerns with DNS are addressed in this release. The Red Hat Identity Management System (IdM) now supports DNSSEC for DNS zones.

For networking improvements, Red Hat claimed that throughput has been doubled in many types of network function virtualization (NFV) and software defined networking (SDN) environments. This is in addition to more network kernel stack tuning that improves packet processing time. Also, there is a new TCP (DCTCP) feature that helps solve TCP congestion problems in data centers. This DCTCP works across both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows-based hosts.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 also offers new and improved tools to help with the increasingly complex system administration of large-scale datacenters. One such tool is Relax-and-Recover, which is a system archiving tool that creates local backups in ISO format for central or remote storage. The ISO images offer a simplified disaster recovery plan for many cases.

In addition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 has full compatibility with Red Hat Insights, an add-on analytics platform from Red Hat. Red Hat Insights is available for up to 10 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 systems at no cost. This analytics package detects technical issues before they become problems via continuous monitoring and automated analysis.

The company also announced the beta of Red Hat Container Development Kit 2, which is a collection of tools and images designed to assist in the creation of containerized applications for use on Red Hat Hosts.

Red Hat anuncio recientemente una vulnerabilidad severa en su cliente DHCP, CVE-2018-1111 podría ser explotada por actores maliciosos para ejecutar comandos arbitrarios con privilegios de administrador en sistemas específicos.

Un miembro del equipo de seguridad informática de Google, Felix Wilhelm, encontró una vulnerabilidad crítica de inyección remota de comandos en la implementación del cliente DHCP de Red Hat Linux, el problema también afecta a otras distribuciones, como Fedora.

Los hackers maliciosos podrían aprovechar la vulnerabilidad, CVE-2018-1111, para ejecutar comandos arbitrarios con privilegios de administrador en sistemas específicos.

“Red Hat tiene conocimiento de una vulnerabilidad de inyección de comandos que se encuentra en un script incluido en los paquetes de cliente DHCP en Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 y 7.” dice el aviso de seguridad de Red Hat.

“Un servidor DHCP malicioso, o un actor malicioso en la red local capaz de suplantar las respuestas DHCP, puede usar esta vulnerabilidad para ejecutar comandos arbitrarios con privilegios de administrador en los sistemas usando NetworkManager que está configurado para obtener la configuración de red utilizando el protocolo DHCP”.

Profesionales en seguridad informática comentan, que la aplicación de cliente DHCP recibe los parámetros de configuración de red, incluida la dirección IP y los servidores DNS, del servidor DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol).

La falla de inyección del comando CVE-2018-1111 recae en el script de integración de NetworkManager de los paquetes de cliente DHCP en Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

El investigador de seguridad informática Barkın Kılıç publicó un PoC para el CVE-2018-1111, en donde se puede ver como el atacante accede al shell como root.

Felix Wilhelm no mostro un código de exploits PoC, pero dijo que este es tan corto que incluso puede caber en un tweet.

El experto en seguridad comento que, un hacker que use un servidor DHCP malicioso o esté conectado a la misma red que la víctima, puede utilizar esta vulnerabilidad falsificando las respuestas DHCP, lo que le permite ejecutar comandos arbitrarios con privilegios de administrador en el sistema de la víctima que ejecuta el cliente DHCP vulnerable.

Como se menciono en el aviso de seguridad, la vulnerabilidad afecta a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 y 7. Se recomienda a los administradores actualizar sus paquetes a las versiones más nuevas tan pronto como sea posible.

Red Hat dijo que, “Los usuarios también tienen la opción de eliminar o desactivar el script vulnerable, pero esto evitará que algunos parámetros de configuración proporcionados por el servidor DHCP se configuren en un sistema local, como las direcciones de los servidores NTP o NIS locales”.

El experto en seguridad informática dijo que algunas distribuciones de Linux como OpenSUSE y Ubuntu no se ven afectadas por la vulnerabilidad porque su implementación de cliente DHCP no incluye el script de integración de NetworkManager de forma predeterminada. Otros de los servicios afectados son la actualización de Red Hat para SAP Solutions en las arquitecturas x86 e IBM Power. Fedora ya lanzo nuevas versiones de paquetes DHCP que contienen rectificaciones para Fedora 26, 27 y 28.t
