and the terms Boyfriend and Girlfriend wouldn’t exist until the 1910-20s but they did have

beau- male partner /boyfriend (pronounced bow)

belle- female partner /girlfriend

unfortunately there’s no gender neutral because uh pre modern era and all, but I think Partner or Courted would work

Other common pet names include: angel, baby, beloved, darling, dear, dearest, honey, heart, love, lover, precious, sweetheart, treasure

"you ain't ever said no ta me, finchie. c'mon, just fix up my face and lemme go sleep!" finch grins at him, clearly enjoying his own power. "my face is bleedin' and i's gonna break your face with that slingshot. fix it."

"say please." albert clenches his jaw.

"sit down, al. keep ya shirt on." fucking teasing-

albert takes a seat at the table and finch crouches in front of him, with a wet cloth and bandages. finch stares up at him, worried and scared like he is when he comes back like this. albert tries to smile while finch wipes at the blood.

"i's is fine." finch sets down the bloodied cloth.

"no, you ain't." albert puts his hand over finch's, where it's resting on his cheek.

"i promised ya that i ain't dyin' on ya at the fights. i's is stickin' to that, okay?" finch nods at his words. "i's okay, i'm right here."

"yeah."

"i ain't leavin'," albert tells him. finch nods along with him. "i ain't, finchie."

finch cleans him up, because he always does. his hands shake a little, because they always do. and finch smacks him upside the head when all is said and done.

it’s honestly so funny that disney was self aware(?) enough to know that people would ship jack and davey so first they made sarah for no other purpose than being a love interest, then they wanted to appeal to the fans who knew she was there just to straight-ify and played no other purpose, so they completely get rid of her and make katherine, who’s character kind of makes no sense but she has a role now i guess?

the fandom, who ignores all of that while shipping jack x davey, practically the only two girls in both movies who don’t even coexist, and all the other ships are queer in some way while regarding all of them as basically canon: FUCK YOU🤠

I don’t like the other newsies calling Davey their ‘mother’ he might be a ‘mom friend’ but the newsies familiar relationship is different from the nuclear family dynamic. Davey is just one of them, not their mother. 6. Medda is an aunt to the newsies and Jack, even if she’s the closest thing to a parent he’s ever had she’s still not exactly a parent figure.
