I don’t care that character a is supposed to be protecting character b and not the other way around. I don’t care that I gave them more fluff than their story probably needed, because dammit, they deserved the happy ending. I don’t care that their relationship is borderline codependent in all the best ways. sprace is at its worst if you assume spot really is a cold hearted stoic badass and it isn't an act at all and you also assume race is just a silly goofy little guy without there being anything underneath. and sprace is at its best when you understand that race is a very smart and extremely conniving little mastermind who just knows the best mask is being silly and goofy so people look the other way, and you also understand that spot is a very caring person who would do absolutely anything for the people he loves and he just accomplishes that by seeming unbreakable so that nobody ever doubts he can do it
