Religious Studies Term Of The Day: Sikh Reht Maryada

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk about my favorite thing in Religious Studies: texts! The written word is important in preserving the faith of a specific moment and justifying a new direction in the faith. Every religion has a primary text, such as the Adi Granth for Sikhs, but there are also supplemental texts that are used, and the Sikh Reht Maryada is one of them. This is the code of conduct for Sikhs with regards to birth, marriage, death, personal discipline, and community disciplines. The current version is a combination of codes dating from the time of the Gurus to 1950. So if you want to learn more about the faith and the Adi Granth is a bit hard to grasp, maybe this might be more helpful. Either way, I hope that you guys have a good day and stay safe.
