Best GTA V Heist Choices

These heist choices are best for ensuring maximum profit from these heists.

The Jewel Store Job:

Approach - Smart

Driver - Karim Denz (8% cut)

Gunman - Packie McReary (12% cut)

Hacker - Rickie Lukens (4% cut)

To unlock Packie as a Heist member, you must complete the “Getaway Driver” random event by aiding in their escape from the cops after they stick up a store. Rickie is unlocked after completing the “Friend Request” mission. While Karim and Rickie are less competent than other personnel that you could give the same respective job to, you don’t lose any part of the score. Rickie will give you a 50 second window, and any other gunman with less skill than Packie will drop some of the loot, and he will not crash his bike and die during the getaway. Karim won’t source the best bikes for the tunnel terrain or give you directions where to drive to as you approach where you go or turn, but he won’t outright fail the heist.

The Merryweather Heist

Approach - Doesn’t matter

This is an interesting one. You don’t select a crew, as it will be just Michael, Trevor, and Franklin. And it won’t matter which approach you take, because regardless, once you take the super weapon, you will be forced by a very pissed off Lester to put it back, so the take would be null and void.

Blitz Play

While the game calls this a Heist, since there is a shit ton of heist prep, I just call this a glorified mission, simply because there isn’t a crew to select, a “planning board,” or a choice of two different approaches. You also don’t get paid for this “heist” either, as the bonds you steal from the IAA are given to Devin Weston. The mission plays out one way.

The Paleto Score

Gunman - Daryl Johns (9% cut) or Norm Richards (10.5% cut)

This is another heist that plays out one way. One of the two gunmen mentioned above will be pinned to a wall by a police cruiser and die, but you can pick up his duffel bag and only have to pay a casualty expense. Michael, Trevor, and Franklin’s cut will always be the same. Make sure you have no cops behind you, and use Trevor’s special ability to deal twice as much damage while taking half as much damage. The more you get shot from behind, and the more damage you absorb, the more money you’ll lose.

The Bureau Raid

Approach - Roof

Hacker - Rickie Lukens (4% cut)

Gunman - Daryl Johns (9% cut) or Norm Richards (10.5% cut); whichever of the two you do not pick for the Paleto Score

Driver - Taliana Martinez (5% cut)

Taliana is unlocked as a Heist member after completing the “Crash Rescue” random event. She is a highly skilled driver, but ironically doesn’t ask for a big cut despite her skill. While the Roof approach requires you to hire three crew members, nobody will die. And provided you used Rickie for the Jewel Store Job, his skill will actually increase, while his cut remains the same. Taliana will strategically show up in an emergency vehicle as a getaway vehicle, making the escape from the cops relatively trivial, provided you don’t drive like an ass! Also, Michael will forgo his cut as atonement for being a depressing cynic throughout the course of the game.

The Big Score

Approach - Obvious

Drivers - Taliana Martinez (5% cut) and Karim Denz (8% cut)

Gunmen - Daryl Johns (6% cut) and either Norm Richards or Hugh Welsh (7% cut)

Taliana should be Driver 1, as she will be the one piloting the other chopper carrying the gold. Of course, if you used Karim in previous heists, then he would not crash his chopper and lose half the take and incite a casualty expense. Otherwise, he should be Driver 2, as his only job will be to drive the train the choppers will drop off the gold in. As for the gunmen, pick the one who gained experience from the Bureau Raid as Gunman 2 to accompany Michael. The Subtle approach will incur a loss as you will have to bribe Casey with a gold bar to buy his silence.

Note: Lester’s Assassination missions are required for 100% completion. These will cause a major change in the stock market. The only Assassination you will absolutely have to do to continue the story is the Hotel Assassination. The other four missions you should hold off until after you complete the story, as you will use the funds from the Union Depository to gain the most profit in the stock market.

My July Reading Stats (a little late)

A shocking high number of books for this month with nine! This is more like I used to be able to finish, but I don't expect this to last. I'd be happy with one book finished a week.

Two mysteries, four fantasies, and three romances. Six of these had romance as a main or strong subplot and four of those were LGBTQ romances. Lots of genre crossovers.

Although some might argue with me, I considered only three to be Adult books, the rest were Young Adult in my opinion, even if not categorized that way by my local library.

As you can see, it was a hit and miss month of reading with very sharp highs and lows. I was especially disappointed to have two DNFs, with one by a longtime favorite author. But I was beyond thrilled to have an equal number of 5 star reads.

Six of the books were over 300 pages. I read 3072 pages!

Overall, I'm really pleased with this month's results, even if I wish the ratings had been 3 1/2 stars and up. Starting a tiny bit slower in August, although it is only 6 days in.

Wilfred Owen (1893-1918)

Owen defends himself at every opportunity to eliminate the possibility that his distress is from cowardice, so while his testimony is valuable for its real-time recording, it's more difficult to pick out such violent and clear instances of trauma compared to other writers.

Democratic Texas attorney and activist, Mark Benavides, was charged with having sex with a minor, inducing a child under 18 to have sex and compelling prostitution of at least nine legal clients and possession of child pornography. He was found guilty on six counts of sex trafficking. Democratic Virginia Delegate, Joe Morrissey, was indicted on charges connected to his relationship with a 17-year-old girl and was charged with supervisory indecent liberties with a minor, electronic solicitation of a minor, possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. Digital Citizenship

As technology moves forward and social media consumes all aspects of our lives, digital citizenship is gaining traction, as it should. But what exactly is digital citizenship? This isn’t necessarily an easy question to answer, as there are a number of definitions floating around. For example, digitalcitizenship.net defines it as “the continuously developing norms of appropriate, responsible, and empowered technology use.” Simple enough, right? Eh, not really. This makes you ask, “what are these norms? What’s considered appropriate?” As both digitalcitizenship.net and Josie Ahlquist point out, nine digital citizenship elements were developed in 2004. These elements (digital etiquette communication, access, literacy, commerce, law, rights and responsibilities, health and wellness, and security) are meant to provide a specific guide as to what digital citizenship entails.

Xu, Yang, MacLeod, & Zhu (2018) provide a few different perspectives on what digital citizenship is. Using the perspective of Jones and Mitchell (2016), they provide a definition based on the foundation that focuses on “respectful behavior online and online civic engagement.” Another perspective provided is from Ribble (2004), which calls digital citizenship “the norms of behavior with regard to technology use.”

Personally, I would define digital citizenship as using critical thinking to make responsible and respectful decisions in using digital media and engaging the digital community. I think this can be done, but only with adequate digital literacy. These two concepts are similar but, in my opinion, the big difference is that literacy is an ability, while citizenship is something you practice. You need to have digital literacy in order to practice digital citizenship. To know when to think critically about your online engagement and when to question certain content takes digital literacy. Using this ability to act accordingly online is practicing digital citizenship. While these two things are different, digital citizenship depends on digital literacy to exist and vice versa.

In researching about digital citizenship and ways to foster it in higher education, I came across Digital Citizenship + Liberal Arts = Students Empowered for Life, an article on educause.edu. Highlighting a study done regarding liberal arts colleges and digital citizenships, this article provided a look into what can be improved to help college students with their digital citizenship. One of the things suggested is to give students “control over what they create and the choice of whether to continue building after the end of the course.” Almekinder, Bryant, Caines,  Lukens, Marksbury, Narasimhan, Richard, Siesing, and Spohrer (2017). I found this idea to be the most intriguing and I second it, wholeheartedly. This idea fosters students’ digital identities and give them freedom to express what they truly want. Understanding that their content creation is up to them and that they have the ability to continue to build is what will give them digital citizenship. Not to mention, this is a wonderful way to introduce connected learning.

Another way digital citizenship can be supported for adult learners is for instructors to make sure we develop web skills and literacy during assignments. Although CI 3342 is a social media-based class, I still think there are elements of the curriculum that could be applied to unrelated courses. For example, encouraging us to explore certain sites and apps instead of just giving out instructions for the assignment is a great way to give us a chance to learn how to navigate them. If this was implemented into all classes, students would be given the opportunity to gain digital literacy skills, making them better digital citizens.

In this spot for Dunkin', Hornet Director Peter Sluszka teamed up with our friends at BBDO New York, to create a series of stop-motion ads showcasing life inside the National Hockey League (NHL) bubble. With deft humor, a nostalgic throwback to table hockey games, and celebrity talent featuring NHL stars David Pastrňák of the Boston Bruins and T.J. Oshie of the Washington Capitals, Sluszka has scored a hat-trick in these spots. Since this was Dunkin's first-ever stop-motion work, we also went to great lengths to make the players come to life—developing nearly two dozen different, hand-painted heads for both Pastrňák and Oshie to bring their personal characteristics and facial expressions to life and taking 6-8 hours per shot.
